SAG Awards Red Carpet, Winners

We are still in the era of #MeToo and #TimesUp when it comes to outing sexual harassment, assault and disparity in Hollywood and it too center stage again at the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium on January 21, 2018 in Los Angeles, California.

Our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Kristen Bell was the first host (of any gender) of the annual show.

Also, women made all the presentations of awards during the event.

Unlike during the Golden Globes, we saw a lot of color on the red carpet. Attendees showed their solidarity to the movements with lapel pins and speeches.

Along with Bell, other celeb moms featured on the blog attended including Kate Hudson, Halle Berry, Maya Rudolph, Giuliana Rancic, Nicole Kidman, Laura Linney, Reese Witherspoon and Allison Janney. The latter four were nominated for awards with Janney and Kidman walking away with the top honors for their respective categories.

Why Kate Hudson’s Lazy C-Section Comments Irked Many

You may have heard by now that actress Kate Hudson is getting a ton of flak for saying in a recent Cosmopolitan cover article that having a c-section was the the “laziest thing she’s ever done.”

Hudson is mom to 13-year-old Ryder and 6-year old Bingham.

But why are her followers calling the remark  “ignorant”, “shameful”, and “offensive” ?

It goes back to the feelings of inadequacy that many women who don’t deliver their children vaginally feel in the face of judgment from the natural childbirth crowd.

I have personally addressed it before about how I was literally jealous of women who gave birth vaginally. I wanted to so badly. For various reasons, all three of my children entered this world via Caesarean section.

So yeah.

A lot of us c-section moms already have a variety of feelings of inadequacy so one can understand how learning of an influential figure calling her own C-Births “lazy” could sting.

Personally, I understand she was talking about herself and she was just joking.

baby-2-baby

Kristen Bell, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Jaime King and Kate Hudson attend the 5th annual Baby2Baby event.

Plenty of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums attended the Fifth Annual Baby2Baby Gala, Presented By John Paul Mitchell Systems at 3LABS on November 12, 2016 in Culver City, California.

The event honored actress Jennifer Garner who received the Baby2Baby Giving Tree Award for her ongoing dedication to children in need around the world.

Our faves attended the event that raises funds on behalf of the organization that collects clothing, diapers and other personal items for impoverished women and raised $3 Million dollars, E! Online reports.

Many of the women are honorary or official board members and looked fabulous while supporting.

Jessica Alba wore a black fringed Valentino dress and carried an Edie Parker box clutch as did others at the event including Kristen Bell who wore a David Koma and a pair of silver Christian Louboutin pumps and Kate Hudson in J. Mendel.

Miranda Kerr looked exquisite at the event in a Reem Acra gown and Jenna Dewan Tatum was there too and she rocked it out in pink and embroidered one shoulder cut out Marchesa dress

Celebrity Couples whose Union Didn’t Survive Their Baby’s First Birthdays

bellyitcblog.com spli up

US Weekly reports that Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green have split after 11 years together.

It is the latest in a slate of high-profile celeb break ups this summer including Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge, Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick, Charlize Theron and Sean Penn, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton.

Break ups are sad and we’ve notice that in the 7 years that Bellyitch Blog has been in existence, a substantial amount of celebrity women who we have had on our “bumpwatch” list have broken up with their respective significant others.

Some broke up before the baby was even born: Christina Milian, Kelis, Heidi Klum and January Jones, and many more split with their respective hubby/baby daddies before they even gave birth.

Last year, CiaraEva Marcille (nee Pigford),  and Amber Rose split with their partners before each of  their baby’s turned 6 months old. The separations have been messy, still.  A few years ago, Selma Blair and her ex Jason Bleick split up 14 months after welcoming their first child together.

Others we’ve covered who have called it quits include: The Jamie Foxx show actress Garcelle Beauvais, TV host Padma Lakshmi from Top Chef, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Freeman from My Wife and Kids, Lauryn Hill, Kimora Lee Simmons (Djimon Hounsou days), Hilary Duff, Fantasia, Halle Berry, Jill Scott, Kate Hudson, Jamie Lyn Spears, Lauren London, Monyetta Shaw (NeYo’s ex), Golden Brooks from “Girlfriends”.

At this point, it’s probably safer to start chronicling those who are still together because they are the new exception, not the rule in Hollywood, it seems. But hey, so long as everyone is happier and better off apart and the off-springs are co-parented well with little to minimum drama, right?

No judgment from us, okay. We’re  just pointing out the trends and facts. Just the facts, ma’am, just the facts! (*smirk*)

Weekend Red Carpet Roundup

Jennifer Lopes and Jennifer Nettles at the Tony Awards. SpikeTV Guy Awards nominee Taraji P. Henson

It’s been a busy couple of weekends for red carpet star-studded events starting with the June 2nd Glamour Women of the Year Awards at Berkeley Square Gardens in London, England.

We spotted several Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums like Kerry Washington killing it in a black David Komo bandeau top with gold embellished slim skirt with a deep split also by David Komo. Kate Hudson too was bringing this season’s plunging neckline trend to the forefront in her eye-catching Burnt Orange J.Mendel dress, accented with a gold Jimmy Choo clutch and Brian Atwood pumps. Rochelle Humes looked elegant as well.

Yesterday, at Spike TV‘s Guy Choice 2015 at Sony Picture Studios in Culver, City, we spotted Taraji P. Henson showcasing the white on white trend. With no surprise “Cookie” took home the Jean-Claude Ghad Dam award while another Bellyitch Bumpwatch babe Salma Hayek walked away with the much deserved Decade of Hotness award.

Tonight, at the Tony Awards, we saw a Jennifer Lopez was serving up the old Hollywood glam with the her wavy do in a darker shade than she’s been wearing lately. Her Valentino Couture  gown was elegant and perfectly accentuated with Harry Winston jewels, a Jimmy Choo purse and Christian Louboutin heels. Anna Chlumsky was also in the house in an eggplant colored form fitting Sophie Theallet dress.

I also adored what Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles wore too. She was gorg.

Kerry Washington, Kate Hudson and Rochelle Humes at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards.

My fave look for the weekend was not worn by a mom but Vanessa Hudgens. I loved the big bold floral patterns in this with the deep plunging neckline Naeem Khan gown. She looked Amaze Balls!

Kate Hudson makes case for getting married for the kids

Kate Hudson made the case for the value in marriage for children. She and her fiance Matthew Bellamy have been engaged since April 2011 and have a son together.

During a recent interview on The View, she addressed her views on marriage and her super long engagement:

I just don’t have—I’m happy. We’re married. We’ve got kids and a family and we’ve got to find our time together alone.  We are in it. I think if we do get married it will be for the kids, really. For us, we’re just happy. I know that’s not really necessarily a golden ticket but there is something beautiful about the security of marriage.  And we’ll get there when we get there.

Clearly, marriage isn’t for everyone, not everybody wants to get married and marriages and unions fail all the time, or run a natural course.

However, I get riled up when I hear people who do not want marriage, diss its value. There is a cultural shift where those who are not married, did not grow in two-parent households and /or are struggling to find a lifelone mate are fighting against the guilt and societal pressure.

I understand all that, but I still feel that some heterosexuals in committed relationships should not be disparaging a union that many homosexual men and women are fighting to get. Yes, a lot of marriages fail, and people are unhappy and stick with failing ones for the kids when they are unhappy. However, there are plenty of successful marriages out there too. Why compare and point out those that don’t work out to make the case for why marriage sucks?

Gay and lesbian couples see the value in marriage hence their ongoing battle to change laws, file lawsuits and campaign for “marriage equality.”

They know that if they are married:

  • they can pass on inheritance to a married partner, automatically in case of a tragedy or if they haven’t yet drawn up a will. If they are not married, their property could go to an uncaring family member who may have turned their backs on them when they came out the closet.
  •  and in case a partner is incapacitated for illness or after an accident, or during old age, a married partner will be empowered to make decisions, not domestic partners  in most states, still
  • their kids can have both their names and make permission slip signing, the names on pick up forms, and other decisions related to the kids and dealing with schools easier.
  • they know that many insurance companies allow a spouse to pass over health and dental benefits to a spouse which is great if one spouse has a business, is a stay-at-home mom or dad, or works part time or is unemployed. If they are not married, the spouse without work insurance is screwed and has to get private insurance which could be costly.
  • there is societal benefits to the children bearing the same names as their parents. People judge and you cannot help that so if your kid can put off stigma and judgment in this realm, great.
  • dual income and security, like Hudson said, are more likely to help than hurt a child, but with marriage comes a reluctance to just walk out in rough times. You may be more likely to work it out and try harder before calling it quits.
Anyway, I thought that was interesting. What are your thoughts?

Easter Maternity Fashion: Get inspiration from these celeb moms

If you are currently preggers and planning what to wear to church this Easter, here are some Throwback Thursday pics of celebrities who looked fashionable and delightful in dresses that would be suitable for Easter Brunch, an Easter Egg Roll or an Easter Brunch.

Go casual in a flowy maxi dress under a denim jacket like Kristin Cavallari did during her first pregnancy with son Camden jack two years ago or a billowy-sleeved Bohemian top under cropped pants like what  Korean actress Kim Hee-sun wore during a GAP maternity campaign in 2009. Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie also dressed up and down the maxi dress and you can too.

If you’re looking to look more formal, go with bold and pastel colors or cream mid-length dresses like how Kate Hudson, Christina Applegate,  Jolie, Gwen Stefani and Reese Witherspoon during their respective last pregnancy.
Happy Easter!
