The Mila Effect: How Kunis Made 70s Style Mini Dresses Hot Again

throwback

Mila Kunis is well known for starring in the long-running comedy The 70s Show along with her husband Ashton Kutcher. So when she the second-time mom-to-be was spotted out recently in a 70s inspired floral mini dress with a short cropped denim jacket, she trended on several social media sites including Facebook and Twitter.

Seeing Kunis’ dress in the trending topic sparked my interest because I love shirt dresses and wear them often, like alot.

So naturally, I thought to curate some fab mini dresses with 70s flare that you can wear during any stage of your pregnancy if you are comfortable in having your legs exposed and wearing a short dress. And even if you are not, you can easily pair a short dress with leggings or cropped jeans underneath and still have the same fun, flirty and whimsical effect. Pow!

Get yourself a cute mini dress. Here are some styles to inspire your shopping trip:

REVIEW: Bands of Moms Organized “Bad Moms” Movie Nights this Weekend

13892209_10210128684319589_1649939281767325378_n

This weekend, groups of mom friends across the nation gathered en masse to see the new Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell movie Bad Moms which also stars two other of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums, Jada Pinkett Smith and Christina Applegate.

(Moms’ Night Outings included this one and here and even here where someone rented out the entire theater)

The film is about Amy (Kunis), a suburban mom who is married to her college sweetheart, and has two great kids including entitled son Dylan (Emjay Anthony) and an overachieving soccer star daughter, Jane (Oona Laurence) who dreams of getting into an Ivy League school even while still in Middle School.  Amy  is also married to an immature real estate mortgager who is a parenting slacker and leaves Amy to do all the work at home even though she also works part time at a trendy coffee company owned and managed by millennials. At age 32, she is the oldest worker. Oy vey!

SEE TRAILER

As the film begins, Amy relays how she is overwhelmed, underappreciated and constantly late. (We can all relate, well I know I can) Amy has to also battle against meeting up to the high expectations and standards of a trio of perfect moms, led by the PTA President Gwendolyn(Applegate), the Queen B who runs the school, and her sidekick moms Stacy (Pinkett-Smith) and Vicky (Annie Mumolo).

Eventually, she just gives up on trying and befriends frazzled mousey stay-at-home mom KiKi (Bell) and single mom Carla (Kathryn Hahn), the break out star in the film and they cut up.

For a  few days, they sleep in, stop making the kids’ breakfast, skip work, go out to pubs and dance clubs and act out in a supermarket in the most hilarious scene of the film.

That scene is second only to (SPOILER ALERT) the one in a bathroom when Carla and KiKi preps Amy to start dating again after she and her husband take a break from her marriage and Carla uses Kiki to show Amy how to manage an uncircumcised man’s member. It is utter hilarity!

I too attended a Bad Moms outing my law school girlfriend Marcie organized. It included happy hour drinks before (which I missed but borrowed a photo from) and night of dancing at a local concert hall to an 80s cover band after. I’d dare say 98% of our theater was filled with women. There were probably several groups of mom groups out. There was lots of talking, popcorn throwing and cutting up in the theater before and the antics were aplenty.

We all agreed afterwards that we have to go see the movie again because we missed so many lines because we were laughing so hard throughout the film.

And what can you expect when the writer/director of The Hangover, Jon Lucas, was behind the film? There is plenty of raunchy and hypersexualized over-the-top slapstick humor that works and a very generous use of the F-bomb. It is rated R for a reason and you should definitely not think of taking your kids with you to see this.

Again, as I stated above, Hahn is the most memorable. Every line that comes out of her mouth elicited belly laughs. It’s because she doesn’t give a kitty about what others think, is sexually free and liberated and is that ride-or-die pal that has your back. She’s that friend from college who would hold back your pony tail while you hurl in the throne after a wild night out, but who has grown up and is now solo-parenting a 6 feet tall middle school jock kid.

Hahn steals ever scene she is in.

My girl Bell does a phenomenal job as a docile mom with a controlling husband who eventually grows some cohones and stands up to him by the end of the movie. She delivers some zingers that are effective because they are unexpected but delivered with perfect comedic timing.

The movie climaxes as Amy decides to compete with Gwendolyn for PTA President after Gwendolyn does something that negatively impacts Jane.

The movie is The Hangover meets Mean Girls.  It has the usual comedy movie tropes but it is successful.

I recommend you get your mom pals together and organize your own Bad Moms movie outing. The last time I attended a movie that got so many groups of women out was when Sex and The City movie came out. I wasn’t a fan of Fifty Shades so I missed all the Fifty Shades movie night outings.

But Bad Moms is definitely a must-see! Fun times!

How ‘Bad Moms’Mila Kunis Showed Again How Low-Key She & hubby Ashton Kutcher Are

Bad Moms star and current 2nd-time mom-to-be Mila Kunis revealed recently that she and her husband Ashton Kutcher got their wedding rings for about $90 each on Etsy, the popular website that sells hand made goods by local merchants.

While appearing on TBSConan Wednesday night promoting her new movie, Conan O’Brien praised her very unassuming wedding ring.

“It’s not showy,” the host told Kunis. “It’s not, like, incredibly flashy, which I think is cool.”

That’s when Kunis revealed more insight into the ring.

“I can’t believe that I’m telling anybody this story. So, my husband and I got married a little while ago. He got me a beautiful engagement ring. Like, stunning, stunning, stunning!” the That 70s Show alum added. “But for our wedding bands—for when we got married—I decided to just get them off of Etsy.”

She also shared a bit about the details of the purchase.

When browsing Etsy, Mila explained, “I wanted the thinnest possible platinum band. I mean, you can’t see it, but it’s super, super thin.”

She talked about being shocked at the price of Tiffany and Co. wedding bands.

“I was like, ‘They’re howmuch? This is astronomical,” the actress said. “So, I went on Etsy and I was like, ‘$90?’ I was like, ‘Buy now!’ Ashton’s was $100, so technically his wedding band was a little bit more expensive.”

She already had the big engagement ring so a cheaper band was “not a big deal,” Mila added.

“My engagement ring is beautiful, but I don’t ever wear it. This ring, I’m like, ‘It’s $90!’ It’s great. That person on Etsy had no clue whose ring they were making, but they were wonderful and very nice and polite and generous.”

Kunis and Kutcher are parents to 2-year old daughter Wyatt. They are currently expecting their second child.

Editor’s note: I saw Bad Moms yesterday with a bunch of moms and it was a great time. We all laughed our way thru it.

It was like The Hangover meets Mean Girls.  And Kunis was wonderful in it. Convincing and relatable. Highly recommend!

Bump Watch: Mila Kunis Goes Brave in a Jumpsuit at NYC ‘Bad Moms’ Premiere

mila kunis

Actress Mila Kunis was legit giving me sultry chic mom when she walked the red carpet to the New York City premiere of her new movie Bad Moms at Mila at Metrograph on July 18, 2016.

The 2nd time mom-to-be, who met her actor and tech investor husband Ashton Kutcher while the two co-starred on the long running hit show That 70s Show, skipped a traditional dress and went bold in a black jumpsuit with embroidered trip and pink pumps. Traditionally, pregnant ladies who make frequent trips to the bathroom avoid something that requires a ton of work to put on and take off.

She swapped out her usual shoulder length dark hair with a bob that framed her face, smokey eye and pink lip. I wish there was more volume to her bob but overall, I love the look.

And on her wrist was the traditional red string bracelet that is commonly worn among followers of the ancient Jewish spiritual tradition, Kabbalah. This is the second child for the Kutchers. They are parents to 1-year old Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher, born in October 2014.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher Wanted Their Kids to Be Close In Age

ashton and mila

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are preparing for another little one, and they couldn’t be happier.

E! News learns that the celeb couple, who are already parents to daughter Wyatt, are “thrilled” about the arrival of baby No. 2. And although there are already some obstacles with juggling a tiny tot and a pregnancy, these two lovebirds are conquering them together.

“They are very excited about baby No. 2. They wanted their kids to be close in age and Wyatt will be just over 2 [years old] when the baby is born,” a source tells E! News. “Ashton and Mila both enjoy parenting and spending time with Wyatt more than anything else, so they are thrilled to be adding to the family.”

The insider adds that although everything seems “so far so good” with Mila‘s pregnancy, the actress is definitely facing some differences when it comes to her every day routine.

“She is feeling good, although taking care of a toddler while pregnant is different for her than the first time around, where she could rest a lot more. Ashton dotes on her though. He always carries Wyatt and doesn’t want Mila doing any lifting at all. He has always been very hands-on, but he has really been taking over lately and trying to give Mila a break.”

Meanwhile, the duo are enjoying some quality time with their little girl (and with each other). “Ashton and Mila do everything together with Wyatt. They are always doing family lunches, trips to the zoo and taking Wyatt to dance class together. They are close with their families and always have them around as well. But they also have alone time where they are baby-free and all about each other. They have a good balance.”

Why the celebrity masculine names for baby girls trend is great

Mila Kunis and Rachel Bilson both gave their baby girls, birthed this year, masculine names

This year saw another surge of celebrities giving their newborn daughters masculine names.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher named their daughter Wyatt while their good friends Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen named their daughter Briar.

This time around Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard went with a more feminine name for their second daughter, Delta. But last year, the couple named their first daughter Lincoln. It was the same year that TV journalist Lisa Ling and her husband named their daughter Jett.

And while many didn’t follow Mariah Carey‘s lead in naming their daughter the masculine name Monroe as Carey and husband Nick Cannon did, several celebrities who gave birth this year did opt for it as a middle name.

Jenna Von Oy named her newest daughter Marlowe Monroe; Tila Tequila named her daughter Isabella Monroe while reality TV alum and baby concierge & maternity designer Rosie Pope named her daughter Bridget Monroe. Poppy Montgomery went with the trend but for her son, naming him Gus Monroe.

I am 100% in support of the unisex or masculine name for a girl trend.

Recently, I was reminded of a riddle about a father and son who got in an accident where the son survived and when he arrived in the emergency room for treatment, the surgeon declared, “I can’t operate on him. He is my son.”

Many people guessing that riddle were stumped how could it be. It is because many picture professions like surgeons to be male. The answer is the surgeon is the boy’s mother.

Similarly, in my professional life, because my name is odd, whenever I get unsolicited pitches at my law firm  for services via email or snail mail, the sendees always err on the masculine and address me as Mister. The assumption is most lawyers are males and it’s a safer guess.

But it doesn’t stop in predominantly masculine fields.  When I ran a small boutique public relations firm, whenever I would eventually meet a client or someone I was only corresponding with electronically or over social media, they’d tell me they thought I was a male. This would be the case despite the fact that PR is a traditionally heavy-female field. Perhaps, business owners are thought to more likely be male.

But from that experience, I know that I was granted any benefit of the doubt and extra leeway given to males by accident. Naturally, the presumption will be trumped once there is an in person meeting but by then, we would have had plenty opportunity to prove our value on the merits and not be burdened by any negative stereotypes or limitations heaped upon women.

If but for that, I say go for masculine names for girls. Give them a head up and without the burden of sexism across a computer screen.

Mila Kunis keeps it real during first post-baby interview (VIDEO)

Kudos to Jupiter Ascending star Mila Kunis who kept it real while doing her first interview since welcoming daughter Wyatt Isabelle this October.
First, she credited Breastfeeding her fist child with actor Ashton Kutcher for her weight loss, which is important for encouraging more women to nurse trot babies after giving birth.
“Breatfeeding is a great workout,” the That 80’s Show alum told host Craig Ferguson on his The Late Late Show.
Second, while sharing how great it’s been taking time off, connecting with her new baby and bonding, she also acknowledged how maternity leave is a luxury for most women, and many don’t have paid leave so thy can relax and make memories with their newborn.
“Nowadays, people can’t do that. Everyone [in the household] has to have a job,” she said, adding that she plans to take Wyatt with her when she does return to work.
Bravo and Kudos, Mila!
