Tia Mowry Hardrict is Expecting Her Second Child!

Congrats to actress, cookbook author and TV Cooking show host Tia Mowry Hardict and her husband actor Cory Hardrict who are expecting their second child.

The Sister Sister and The Game alum announced the news on her Instagram showing an adorable photos of her husband and son Cree kissing her sizable bare baby bump. She captioned the precious shot, “❤️❤️❤️❤️.

Her twin sister, Tamera Mowry-Housley, shared her congrats via social media too soon after Tia revealed the news.

“Yayyyyy! Couldn’t wait to tell the world. I’m going to be an auntie!!!!!”  The Real host tweeted .

❤️❤️❤️❤️

A post shared by tiamowry (@tiamowry) on

Cory and Tia got engaged in 2006, married two years later and welcomed son Cree in 2011, before her sister Tamera had her first child, and was still a newly wed.

We know Tamera gave birth to children, 4-year old Aden John Tanner and 2-year old Ariah Talea, with husband, FOX News Correspondent Adam Housley while Tia, presumably was trying to expand her family as well.

As far back as 2013, Tia has expressed interest in having a second baby. “It’s something that we’re talking about on a daily basis, so…we’ll see!” she told E! News at the time.

It’s been a long time coming and perhaps she will share some of her journey later with the public… or not! We’re not entitled to know. (smile)

Congrats! We are so thrilled and happy for this news! Both are our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums.

Thank You Tamera Mowry-Housley for Raising Awareness About C-Section Postpartum Woes

Tamera Mowry-Housley shared some of her own personal insight into some of the pains that women who undergo a C-Section endure when viewers of her FOX panel talk show The Real started to reply to a segment today on the show.

One follower who replied to her general tweet about the realities of C-section especially when you’re nursing.

“I know sum1 whose c-section stitching came undone just from tryin to get out of the shower,” the Twitter user Eunice responded.

To that, The Real co-host said hers “came undone when” she “had to pick up” her son, Aden. Ouch!

Mowry-Housley and her husband FOX News Correspondent Adam Housley welcomed daughter Ariah Talea in July 2015 and son Aden Tanner in November 2012.

What followed was heartwarming and great for awareness building. Many other users offered their own stories which could elevate the understanding among those who have never had a C-section or have misconceptions about it.

I know personally,I could relate to the one about the guts on the tray. My husband almost passed out when she made the mistake of peering over the surgery screen and got an eyefull of entrails! Eeeek!

“Women don’t get enough credit for enduring this surgery(they put your organs on a tray, my Husband looked)&then going right into motherhood,” a woman named Dawn Venosa Mannix added to the discussion.

“It hurt to laugh, sneeze, cough, pee. Everything hurts,” chimed in user named Beach Bunni.  “We still have to care for our newborn while healing. It makes us stronger though.”

So true, sister!

Writing for HuffPo Parents, blogger Kate Auletta offers 9 things no one tells you about C-Section.

DURING THE SURGERY

1. That “mild tugging sensation” line was clearly first said by a man. Mild is perhaps the understatement of the century. You feel like the wind is being taken out of you as your teeth chatter from the anesthesia. This is not a surgery for claustrophobes, as you’re completely stuck on the table — arms pinned down — while the inability to breathe overwhelms you.

IN THE HOSPITAL

2. The catheter keeps you company in the days following birth because you can’t really walk to the bathroom without those trusty ab muscles helping you out (more on that below). And then, as in all cases with a catheter, you have to learn to pee again — the longer the catheter is in, it seems, the harder it is to remember how to pee. Also not fun when you have a nurse and some loved ones waiting outside the bathroom door and you feel like you’re 5 again.

3. Have someone teach you how to even get up and out of bed. Congratulations! Your ab muscles are completely non-existent now. The good news: Your arms are gonna get buff.

AT HOME

4. Do yourself a solid and go to your local drug store (or better yet, send someone else) to buy some big-ass high-waisted underwear. You’re not gonna want anything — zippers, buttons, elasticized underwear — coming near your stomach, especially the birth area, for a while.

5. Walking is a challenge. Your core is called your core for a reason. Go easy on yourself.

6. Those drugs are your best friend. Give yourself some time to wean off the heavy stuff. Stock up on Aleve, which you’ll also need daily, and be prepared to use it A LOT.

7. I’m getting really real here now: Get some Colace. Your first bowel movement will hurt that much more since you have no stomach muscles with which to push. But man, will you be proud when you walk out of that bathroom.

8. You can’t lift anything because of how it can affect your core, and you can’t really lean over to even empty the dishwasher. Basically, best case scenario is that you’re an immobile, milk-producing machine with a baby attached to your breast sideways cause you’re scared he or she will kick the scar.

9. Don’t worry. No matter how your child is born, it’ll still likely be the best thing that ever happens to you, you tired shell of your former self.

Thank you!

We Love Kristen Bell’s Comments on De-Stigmatizing Mental Health Treatment for Moms

The Good Place‘s Kristen Bell was on The Real daytime panel show this week and we love what she said about the importance of treating anxiety and depression with any other disease or condition that has less stigma.

While visiting the ladies which include our bumpwatch alum Tamera Mowry-Housley and our other alum as a guest panelist, Melanie Brown, Bell shared her feelings about feeling inadequate about being a parent.

Actually, the Veronica Mars alum speaks often about destimatizing mental health problems by sharing her own experiences.

“I talk to someone and we have a check in once a year,” Bell opened up. “I take a pill if I need to. I make sure to exercise. I basically know my issue.”

Perhaps to counter the shame that is associated with seeing a therapist and taking psychosomatic drugs, Bell said, “It’s like for me, knowing if you have Diabetes. You wouldn’t deny a diabetic medicine.”

She also expressed what I think is beautiful about her union with hubby Dax Shepard who is a super supportive husband.

“If I have spent four days on the couch, my husband goes, ‘hey you want to go for a hike or do you want to go out with your girlfriend?,'” Bell shared,  before adding, “You have to stay aware and take care of yourself.”

‘The Real’s Loni Love Opens Up About The Miscarriage That Turned Her Off From Having Kids

loni-love-the-real-759x438

On Tuesday, March 21st episode of the daytime panel talk show The Real co-host Loni Love opened up about previously suffering a miscarriage and being quite emotionally scarred form the experience.

During a segment on the show, Love says the entire ordeal convinced her to never have children (or even attempt) because  she never wanted to experience that feeling again.

“I finally went to the doctor and I was pregnant,” she opens up. “And Imma tell you something, your body goes through so much. And then at that time I started processing ‘cause then I had to start saving for the baby. I had to start doing all this… And I was like, ‘Oh my goodness, what am I going to do?’ Right? And then it was like the dude that I was with, he was excited, but I was still like really really nervous. But then, eventually you know that nature takes over, you like, ‘You know what, there’s nothing I can do. I’m just gonna have to have this baby and I’m just going to deal with it.’ And sure enough as soon as I was like okay with it, about eight weeks, I miscarried.”

It appears from the audible gasp, and shocked reaction of her co-hosts Jeannie Mai, Tamera Mowry-Housley and Adrienne Bailon, that they were clueless. Love later exclaims that’s the real reason she doesn’t have children.

Spanx founder Sara Blakely released a new book last week called “The Belly Art Project” which is a book that features over 100 women with their bellies painted creatively.

Blakely launched the initiative in partnership with the nonprofit international organization “Every Mother Counts“, founded by model Christy Turlington, dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for women everywhere. It receives 100% of the proceeds from the sales of the book.

Blakely describes the initiative as part movement, and part celebration of the mother in all of us—the beautiful, creative, inventive spirit that connects everyone. Part of the project’s vision is to present the bellies as billboards for change.

Among celebrities whose painted bellies are featured in the book are Milla Jovovich, mother of two and Kate Winslet, mother of three.  Tamera Mowry-Housley is also featured and she recently shared a photo of the experience of having her belly painted.

“I’m so excited to share an incredible project I got to be a part of while pregnant with Ariah,”  the TV host of FOX TV show The Real shared on her personal blog. the television personality tells blog readers. “On the pages of this book you’ll find over 100 mommas-to-be with painted baby bumps, including an appearance by yours truly.”

Tamera’s spread features her and little Aden hanging out at a lemonade stand. Mowry’s stomach is designed after a lemon and the celebrity mom appears excited to share the sweetness of a drink such as lemonade with fans.

“Thrilled to be part of@sarablakely‘s book, The Belly Art Project!” Mowry-Housley captioned a photo of her belly getting painted when she was pregnant with daughter Ariah.  “Click the link in my bio to learn more about it and to see some bts photos from the shoot when I was pregnant with Ariah.”

Every Mother Counts raises awareness and provides support for moms all over the developing world. Buying the book can save a mom or baby’s life. It retails for about $22.

Mowry-Housley and husband Adam Housley welcomed Ariah last year ad are parents to son, almost 4-year old. Aden Tanner.

‘The Real’s Adrienne Bailon on Becoming a Stepmom

adrienne bailon

The U.S. Census estimates about 50% of families are some form of stepfamily. The stepfamily has become the modern family.

Today on the FOX daytime panel talk show, The REAL, during its “Girl Talk” segment, co-host Adrienne Bailon discussed becoming a stepmom to her fiancé Israel Houghton’s four children.

During the segment, Hougton (who is visiting but is shown off set to the side), shares what the kids call Adrienne (“A”)  and Jeannie Mai asks what the couple would prefer the kids call here.

“If someone were to say, ‘Who is she?’ What do they say?” Bailon asks Hougton who responds, “They would probably say, ‘My dad’s wife.’  Right, something like that?”

Adrienne disagrees with Loni Love‘s suggestion that the kids may tell their friends that Adrienne is their stepmom, because “it sounds mean,” Bailon states.

Tamera Mowry-Housley then asks Hougton would he be okay with Bailon disciplining the children.

According to our past post about 14 tips for making blended family work, our experts suggests, that the biological parent only should discipline his/her children and the stepparent would only discipline based on rules agreed upon and presented to kids as a couple.”

Adrienne is thus correct in her reply when she tells the audience that she has no intention on sending the kids to their room.

“No, I’m not doing that. We are going to be good cop, bad cop and I am the good one, okay!” she tells Houghton who agrees, ” She’s going to be the good cop.”

Cancer Babies Celebrate: Ryan Curry and Ariah Housley Turn One-Year Old

housley curry

Recently, a couple of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums celebrated the first birthday of their latest little one: Ryan Curry turned one-year old on July 10 and Ariah Housley turned one too on July 1.

The Currys celebrated in Hawaii and had a lua-themed party.

Last week, Tamera Mowry-Housley celebrated her and husband Adam Housley’s daughter Ariah turning one in a small intimate family gathering. It was cushioned in between a few hectic events.

“What a crazy last couple weeks it’s been,” the co-host of Fox’s The Real wrote in her blog. “We have so many family birthdays around this time, 4th of July, trips to Napa, and I did some traveling for Essence Fest. But before it got too crazy we had a nice, intimate family birthday party for Ariah, and so many of her favorite people were there.”

Here are a few pics from the respective celebrations:

#PhilandoCastile and #AltonSterling: Celeb Moms Who’ve Spoken Out About Killings

candles

Tonight, we’ve reached a tipping point in America as several Dallas police officers were killed during a rally to protest recent police shootings. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those men and women who put their lives at risk daily to protect and serve.

Here is a rundown of what sparked the rally followed by solidarity messages from celeb women we’ve featured on the blog:

Within 48 hours, two black men in “concealed weapon license to carry” states exercising their rights to have guns in their pockets were nonetheless shot and killed by police officers. Both killings, one execution style and the other in front of a 4-year old child during a routine traffic stop, has sparked outrage.

Alton Sterling was selling CDs outside of a grocery store in a high crime neighborhood and exercising his Second Amendment rights as an American, carried a weapon to protect himself. Someone reported to the police that Sterling had it out waving at people and after scuffle with the officers who arrived at the scene and eventually took Sterling down, another took out his revolver and emptied a couple of rounds into Sterling’s body before falling off the man’s chest and shooting a few more shots. The store owner and another eyewitness filmed the shootings on their smartphones and circulated it on social media. The outrage has been swift.

That same night, another man, Philando Castile, was driving with his girlfriend Diamond Reynolds and her 4-year old daughter in the backseat when he was pulled over for a busted tail light. Diamond turned on her Facebook Live and shared the incident as it happened with her followers on the social media site. The world was witness to the moments immediately after one officer shot him as he reached into his pocket to pull out his driver’s license as asked to do so by the officer, per Reynold’s account. The officer can be overheard on the video saying “ignorance”.

As with other past police killings of unarmed black men and boys, many parents have been shaken by the incident especially parents of young black boys. In social media, many have expressed fear that when their children grow up, they will be seen as menacing threats simply for being in the skin they were born in and could be the next hashtag.

I know personally, I’ve talked to my kids again as my husband and I do periodically throughout their lives to make sure they are aware what they need to do to escape a possible police encounter alive. My father in law is a retired veteran police detective and my husband’s uncle was a police officer. We fear for the lives of blue and believe Blue Lives Matter as well, but at the same time, we are frightened by the pattern of brutality among some officers.
