A Look Back at Our Blog Faves at White House State Dinners

On a scale of the Road Runner to Wile E. Coyote how excitedly cute were Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively who became the latest of our our Bellytich Bumpwatch alums to go to a White House State Dinner?

The Vancouver, Canada native got an invite on the heels of the tremendous success of his latest blockbuster action hero film as it is common for celebrities to be invited to State Dinners who have some sort of connection to the nation the US is hosting.

For example, when another bumpwatch alum Dr. Priscilla Chan was still preggers with her and husband Mark Zuckerberg‘s first child, the Chinese American pediatrician attended the State dinner in honor of  China’s Xi Jinping.  They couldn’t just invite the Facebook founder without the others so a bunch of other Tech Giants went too.

This week, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie were honored at the White House and hosted by the First Family. For the first time the First Daughters, Sasha and Malia, attended and looked stunning in their ball gowns.

This photo of Malia clowning Sasha having a total fan girl moment with Ryan Reynolds is classic! I am Team Big Sister cause I’m a Big Sister.

They grew up too fast! Waaaaah!

Ciara went with her now-fiance (congrats on that) Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson to the dinner honoring Japan’s Shinzo Abe in 2015.

She was stunning! And looking this good only a year after giving birth to her son Future.

And Queen Bey another bumpwatch alum, was the performer at the very first State Dinner the Obamas hosted in 2009. She was caught sneaking in for her performance in the back of the White House.  Ne-Yo, who recently wed Crystal Renay Williams, performed at the last Dinner honoring China in 2015.

And while hosting the British Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife, Samantha, First Lady Michelle Obama wore a dress designed by another bumpwatch alum of ours Georgina Chapman who is the founder of Marchesa.
