Kidnappers in Mexico killed Little Boy director Alejandro Monteverde’s brother and father this past Saturday, September 19 despite. Monteverde is married to our Bellyitch Bumpatch alum Ali Landry.
Both her father-in-law Juan Manuel Gomez Fernandez and brother-in-law Juan Manuel Gomez Monteverde were found murdered via a gunshot wound to the head despite a ransom reportedly being paid for their return, US Weeklyreports.
Today, the family spread the ashes of the two men who were related by marriage to the former Miss USA winner.
I interviewed her award-winning husband Alejandro Monteverde this Summer in advance of the release of his movie Little Boy for another website I recall Monteverde mentioned being taken to the cinema as a child by his now-late father and that sparked his interest in filmmaking.
Earlier this year, Monteverde shared a tender photo of himself with his dad captioned with “Celebrating in San Miguel de Allende, with my best friend, my life mentor, the wisest man I know. My father.”
He’ll miss him and his brother for certain.
The two were kidnapped on September 4th while leaving their home in Tampico, Tamaulipas.

A Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum and mompreneur , Landry previewed some of her fave products she spotted at the yearly exhibition for the billion dollar baby products industry.
It has been 10 years since I last posted the annual Bellyitch Most Expensive Strollers post. It was a yearly blog post staple and used to get tons of traffic because, honestly, I think people, generally, are obsessed with knowing what baby items are used and coveted by the super wealthy and celebrities.
Since the last post, a few stroller companies have gone out of business. RIP to Orbit, Maclaren and newer brands 4Moms and iCandy, which were once considered “it” strollers in their day but no longer manufacture luxury strollers.
In 2013, I published the list as part of the Bellyitch 100, a book of the top crib makers, maternity wear designers, stroller makers and baby clothes brands.
Anyway, so I used to publish the Most Expensive Strollers list at a time when I was raising a young family and brands would boast that they were on the list.
My social circle at the time included professional working women, stay-at-home moms, and mom bloggers, several who were affluent and looked at the stroller as a status symbol.
Here is another secret about what happens among moms at the park, at the school pick up lot, in the mall and other social places where mommies congregate. They check out what strollers they’re pushing a baby or child in and make judgments.
Yes, there is a definite hierarchy in quality of strollers and believe me when I tell you that certainly check out what stroller another mom’s child is being pushed in and make judgments.
When I was raising my children as a young lawyer, I went through 6 strollers, which is a low number considering many of my friends at the tiem had way more.
Our first stroller was a Peg Perego which converts from a baby carriage or pram to a push stroller. At the time, it was among the best. Then, when my first born turned into a toddler, we ordered theInglesina Swiftumbrella stroller from the Italian stroller manufacturer. It had a great run!
To pair with the Inglesina, a sturdy Italian brand, we got a lower cost Combi umbrella stroller for travel, a stroller we could beat up which was so much less that so that we wouldn’t mind if it got lost by the airline or damaged during travel.
Then, when I was expecting baby #2, I got as an amazing shower gift from my co-workers at my old job: a Peg Prerego Aria doublestroller!
By the time baby number 3 rolled around, the Inglesina had hit the dirt, we left the Combi on some island we visited for vacation once and we had loaned out the Peg Perego Buggy to relatives who didn’t take good care of it.
The wheels on the double gave out and we opted to give to Goodwill rather than try to fix it or get the company to repair it.

We opted for a lesss expensive Graco Snug Ride for Baby #3 and aB.OB. jogging stroller (the air-filled jogger stroller with hand activated rear wheel brakes that can ride smooth on any terrain) when I was ready to get back in shape.
Now, while we didn’t get any of them to make a statement, I have had many moms and dads comment on the pricier high end ones while walking in the parks, malls etc. People are always looking for a status symbol and there is a preconception that most expensive means the best!
It’s no wonder, you can see celebrities strolling their children in many of those on this list. The celebrities know that too. That is why Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony sued Silver Cross from publishing on their website an unauthorized endorsement which featured a People magazine photo of them pushing their twins in two Silver Cross prams.
People flock to buy whatever celebrities purchase and that stroller companies know that endorsement mean lots for their bottom line.
Anyhoo, on to the list. Of course, as a disclaimer, this list is not exhaustive. As usual, this list is based on my own personal research and I urge readers to point out other vehicles that should grace this list. Certainly, I would amend the post to reflect corrections.

Did someone send out a memo?? It looks like a bunch of the ladies we’ve covered and whose pregnancies the blog has followed in the past decided to share recent photos of their sweet little ones on Instagram.
Alas, it looks like it now officially a must-do trendy thing for working moms in Hollywood to do: Pose for the official “momming while being serviced by a glam squad” photo.
And…look, Avatar 2 star Zoe Saldana is the latest to join the club!
The Guardians of the Galaxy actress posted a photo on her Instagram account of her tending to her infant son, Zen, while getting primped and polished for some red carpet event, perhaps. “You do what you have to do to be there…. #workingmom” she captioned the photo in both English and her native Spanish.
Before Saldana did it, the likes of Audra McDonald, MollySims, Miranda Kerr,P!nk, Terri Seymour, Ali Landry, Alyssa Milano, and Jessie James Decker have all share social media photos of themselves in the throws of dolling up as a working mom in Hollywood.
Gisele Bundchen may have been the unofficial mother of this genre of photos. When she did it in 2013, the Victoria Secret model she caught a lot of flak for those who said she was being vain and using motherhood to call attention to herself — not just her then-one-year old daughter Vivian Lake.
The Brazilian Supermodel’s famous breastfeeding while getting glam shot was controversial because vanity and “glamity” aren’t supposed to co-exist with motherhood and breastfeeding, socially. Aaaah humbug!
Shameless actress EmilyRossum joined in the fun of criticizing Bundchen by posting a parody of Bundchen’s photos by copying it to a tee using a doll. Okay, Emily. Sure.
But we are able to recognized the value to the image despite what the critics say. In the past, in tinsel town (and Bollywood) getting pregnant and having a family can disrupt a woman’s career but not so much anymore.
As we’ve shared before, motherhood isn’t halting opportunities and production can and do work around a star’s pregnancy. In recent years, many celebrity parents are showing their social media fans that they don’t let motherhood interfere with their work either. They can do both.
Again, since Bundchen’s photo, other celebrity women like LilyAldridge, Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian and Kandi Burruss have shared photos of themselves tending to their babies while getting glammed up for an event.

As with our usual tradition of stalking our fave celebs and past blog features, we took a look around the gram and chronicled what we saw our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums and family doing….’cause we’re just nosy like that.

But they can co-exist and since Bundchen’s photo, other celebrity women like Lily Aldridge, Molly Sims, Kim Kardashian, Ali Larter, Terri Seymour and most recently, Kandi Burruss have shared photos of themselves tending to their babies while getting glammed up for an event.
Perfect and just in time to update last year’s list of celebrity glam squads. Last year, I hunted down the various glam squad photos celebs have posted on Instagram, WhoSay and Twitter. This small team that help get a celeb woman ready for an event, award show or other red carpet moment consist usually of a hairstylist, a manicurist, a stylist, a make-up artist and a personal assistant. They work in tandem and sometimes simultaneously and the glam squad photo shows them in action.
Of course, most of the glam squad photos are staged. Let’s be real. I wouldn’t want to be having my hair hot curled while my head is being maneuvered and shifted by the make up artist. Ouch. I’ve had a curling iron dropped on me before and I have the scar still to prove it.
Also, showing off your glam squad is another way of telling your followers and fans that you are that special that you can’t get dressed on your own. This is not shade. I’d hire myself a team in a hot second! And you know this because even famous stylists who once were glam squad members are now celebrities in their own right. (think June Ambrose and Rachel Zoe)
These days, you can even rent one. Companies like Miami-based GlamSquad (pictured above) will bring a team to you starting at $75. Not bad!

Second time mom-to-be Kelis got treated with her guests to massages at her baby shower. The “Milkshake” singer, who is a culinary school grad and cook book author, recently celebrated the impending birth of her next child.
“Thanks the @manlyhandz my girls were thrilled and relaxed at my shower! We had such a good time ! Thanks everyone xoxo,” she captioned a photo of herself with the proprietors of a traveling California massage company, Manly Handz,which boasts celebrity clients including Holly Robinson Peete, Brooke Anderson, Amber Riley, Ali Landry, Kimberly Elist, Nicol Ari Parker among others.
Though heavily preggers, Kelis just came off a pretty hectic month promoting her new book, “My Life on a Plate“.
She also recently, she hooked up with our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums Tamera Mowry-Housley and Tamar Braxton-Herbert on the FOX panel talk show the two co-host The Real.
Kelis is expecting with her husband who she references in her IG account (like in the photo below) though has never mentioned or confirmed, keeping things super private. I can did it! She is also mom to 6-year old son Knight with ex husband Nas.
