2018 MTV VMAs: Cardi B’s Baby Kultura Fake Out & Red Carpet Trends

Last night was the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York, New York City on August 20.

Quite a few of our Bellyitch  Bumpwatch alums showed up and/or showed out with draw-dropping performances, on-stage antics, on the red carpet risks and MoonMan winning!

Jennifer Lopez gave an electrifying performance of a medley of her hits over the years before accepting the Video Vanguard Award, the first person of Latino heritage to win the coveted prize.

Cardi B surprised the audience by opening the show cradling what looked like a baby on stage

Many thought they would get the first glimpse of her infant girl Kultura with husband rapper Offset, but she later revealed it was a trophy.

Womp womp womp!!

Later in the evening, the “I Like It” rapper won three of several awards she was nominated for, Song of the Summer for “I Like It featuring Bad Bunny & J Balvin; Best new artist and Best Collaboration for “Dinero” Jennifer Lopez’s song with DJ Khaled Artist of the year.

She was nominated for Best hip hop, Artist of the Year, Best Latin album, also for Dinero and Song of the Year for “Finesse” with Bruno Mars

Beyoncé’s song “APES**T” with her husband Jay Z as part of their duo The Carters won a few technical awards for Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction though that song was also nominated for Best collaboration, Best Direction, Best Choreography,  Best Hop Hop, Best Editing And Video of the Year.

On the red carpet, JLo and Cardi showed out along with other alums Kylie Jenner and Blake Lively, coming through with the pant suit again.

MTV Reality show and other Bellyitch alums Heidi Montag, Nicky Hilton, Nicole “Snooki” Palozzi and Audrina Partridge graces the red carpet also.

One fashion trend that stood out to me was the inptricate sheet organza I saw on singing sisters and Beyonce protege Chloe X Haile, comedic actress Tiffany Hadish and British singing phenom  Rita Ora.

And finally, winning the sex kitten awards: a chaps and chisel abs donning Teyana Taylor, Blac Chyna and red cat woman Amber Rose.

16 Nurses At Arizona Hospital Expecting

Pregnancy might just be catching at a Banner hospital in Mesa, Arizona, where 16 nurses are expecting at once.

That’s 10% of the nursing staff in the intensive care unit, and patients have started to notice the high pregnancy rate, the nurses said.

At a news conference, the women joked that there must be something in the water, or that maybe it was a joint plan for Christmas holidays off. The group’s first birth is expected in September and the last in January.

Rochelle Sherman, who is just over a month away from giving birth, said: “I don’t think we realised just how many of us were pregnant until we started a Facebook group

“It’s like we had some kind of pact going on.”

Her colleague Jolene Garrow thanked colleagues who have stepped in to do jobs pregnant women cannot do – such as dealing with contagious illnesses like tuberculosis pand shingles, or performing some treatments for cancer patients.

The staff will throw a joint baby shower for all the women next week, before they start going on their 12 weeks of maternity leave.

#BackToSchool Trend: ‘Mom’s First Day of Freedom’ Instagram Take Over

After a Summer of an empty refrigerator, a 24-hour messy house, being responsible for keeping the kids entertained, engaged or active, a lot of moms (and dads) look forward to sending their kids back to school. It’s a running joke among many parents to rejoice and joke about their glee over sending their children back to school.

I always poke fun at my Millennial mom friends and followers over the very creative ways they use social media to show off their milestones, extravagant themed kid’s first birthday or chic and stylish coordinated holiday cards and videos.

Add to that the relatively new trend of sharing the “Mom’s First Day of Freedom” on Instagram. Some moms go as far as hire professional photographers and coordinating a photo shoot to mark the occasion.

Some Etsy shops sell “Mom’s First Day of Freedom” Boards like the ones below:

The Budget Stylish Mom’s Back To School Capsule Wardrobe (Under $100)

A lot of families are going to be outlaying a lot of cash for Back-To-School shopping, including on school supplies, new bookbags, shoes, uniforms, computer equipment and more.

There may be little to nothing leftover for mom to update her wardrobe and prepare her for a new year catching up on the playground gossip with her mom friends before and after school.

I’m in the same boat so to help out my fellow budget stylish moms who do not want to sucumb to the frump and to stay current, I curated a 10-item capsule collection, including accessories, with items that are all about $10 each!

Because late Summer, early fall days require flexibility, a light jersey shirt, perhaps in a neutral color like gray, would make a great item. I found that Missguided sells its Active Gray Long Sleeve Sports Tee  for $4 now

Grab a pair of Athletic Works Women’s Ballet Flat  for $8. They can be slipped on in the morning rush!

A comfy pair of stylish blue denim jeans is in order as well. You can get H&M’s  Slim Ankle High Jeans  for $8. Stay warm in an air conditioned building by always packing a cardigan. I like UNIQLO Women’s Supima Cotton Uv Cut V-Neck Cardigan which also runs for about $8.

Alternate the jeans for casual yoga pants. Generic Women’s High Waist Tummy Control Yoga Capris Pants Leggings Bodyshaper Shapewear  is also around $8!

No time to do your hair!? No problem! Throw on a cap. Forever 21’s Gingham Cap is just $4!

I am a fan of shirt dresses because I think they flatter most shapes in a

Minimalist but chic way. H&M has a Long Sleeve V Back Dress for close to 12 bucks!

An accent scarf is good to always carry on you because it can double as a shawl, be used to cover items in an open tote or a head covering in case you’re caught out in the rain.

I love Forever 21’s Plaid Oblong Scarf which is selling for $11 right now.

Speaking of totes. Every mom needs a large shopper tote that is big enough to fit her stuff and her kid’s forgotten lunch, toys, snacks and other accessories. A canvas tote will do or get one in a durable leather like Avenue’s $21 Filipa Tote!

The sum total of This capsule wardrobe that you can mix and match with other pieces for this late summer early Fall is just…

Total= $92??

I know right! Well it won’t be this too long! Great items and these types of prices sell out fast!

10-Year Old Who Learned on YouTube Helped During Aunt’s Emergency Delivery

Tween-Help-Aunt-Give-Birth

When Chloe Carrion‘s aunt passed out after unexpectedly giving birth at their Virginia home, the quick-thinking 10-year-old girl called 911 and cared for the newborn just the way she had seen it been done in YouTube videos.

Chloe was with her 21-year-old aunt, Dominique Spann, Tuesday afternoon when the woman started feeling ill. Spann went to the bathroom, then called for Chloe when she realized she was going into labor.

“She had lost a lot of blood. She had fell down and she passed out. So I grabbed the baby and called 911.”

Chloe cut the umbilical cord and wrapped the baby while help arrived to their Fairfax County home.

“I watch YouTube videos about people playing with dolls and I see them care for the babies, so I used stuff I knew from the videos,” Chloe said.

Moments later, medics arrived and drove Spann to Inova Fairfax Hospital.

The birth came as a surprise to the family. Spann had kept her pregnancy a secret.

“She didn’t tell anybody,” said Chloe’s mother. “I thought that was her regular stomach.”

Spann and her newborn baby boy are healthy and resting. She’s thankful for her niece’s actions, and let her name the baby.

Chloe chose the name Isaac.

Before You Lose Your Mind and Haul Your Kid to the ER (REVIEW)

If ever there was a super humorous take on dealing with us sometimes frantic over sensitive parents, this is it! I read this “If Your Kid Eats This Book, Everything Will Still Be Okay: How to Know if Your Child’s Injury or Illness Is Really an Emergency” by Lara Zibners.

book from cover to cover and was cracking up all the way through. It is choc full of helpful descriptions and lay person explanations of common ailments and how we should deal with them, in a manner that does NOT require a trip to the ER.

I do wish I had this book as a resource to read BEFORE I had my first child. I vividly recall a moment when we had just come home with our first kid and out of the blue, he started to cry uncontrollably, turning red. I hopped all over the place, yelling at the hubby to warm up the car, unwrapped my head scarf off my locks and was heading to the ER for sure. All the fuss and ruckus to get the kid help induced the baby to burp. *Belch* …And then he was fine again. Womp Womp Wooomp! It was only gas!

https://amzn.to/2MSnAMq

So what Dr. Zibners does in this book is break down the anatomy of the infant, toddler and child. She explains, yes “his little piggy” will disappear into rolls of fat. That is okay. And, before you come in for a diagnosis of a blue mark, try a washcloth and soap. Yup. Funny, but true. It is a great book for a first time mom, dad or grandparents.

Dr. Zibners even offers natural remedies for common ailments that wouldn’t require a medical prescription, for example, like for constipation, treat the child with the “P”s = peas, plums, prunes, peaches. Aaaah! Yes. Put the infant Pepto away, you say?

She goes down the list of common products a child can safely get away with eating and not croaking: a bit of lipstick. No problem. A scoopfull of Vaseline. It will pass (literally and figuratively)…and of course there are mentions of the ones that should be treated with emergency care.

This book is very fun and Dr. Zibners matter of fact writing style gives the reader comfort in knowing, “no, you’re not an idiot, just a hypersensitive and worrywart mom/dad”

The best part for me are the sidebars dispersed throughout the book called “911” and “Emergency” which details scenarios when you ARE to call for help or take your child in and I made it a point to read every one of those tabs.

All in all, you can’t go wrong in reading this book or giving it as a gift to the new grandparents, babysitter, new moms. It is a quick and easy read and worth being on every shelf!

Get Your Back To School Organization Life On With These Tips

home organization and declutter tips

It’s the start of a new school year in my home and I’m determined to make sure we have a smooth, clutter-free and positive school year.

As an avid believer in  and the positive impact of having a decluttered and organized home, I believe having an organization system and clutter and junk free home are essential for ensuring positive energy flow and clear thought.

I highly recommend that parents use the beginning of a school year as another excuse to get organized, not just for the school routine, but the family home in general.  So even if you did Spring or New Year cleaning, use the late summer/early fall to re-organize your life and priorities as well.

Even if your kids have already gone back, you can still get started. Here are some declutter and home organization tips that I’ve put together that I hope can help get you through the year.

Orange-Nursery-Room-Decorating-Ideas1

Clean and Declutter the Kids Play, Work Rooms and Nursery.  Limit the number of toys and books in the kids room. Get rid of old broken toys. Give away old books and toys to the Salvation Army, Good Will or another family member with children younger than yours. Keep only a few of the favorite story books and the toys your child or children play with regularly. Don’t let them know you’re getting rid of the stuff they don’t even play with. They likely won’t even know it and you don’t need the headache of having them plea for you to keep it.

Infuse Calming Scents in the Home.  I’m a also a big believer in aromatheraphy and that scents guide the mood. Buy Glade or some other brand’s plugins to keep the air fresh and clean smelling. You can burn candles when you’re home or if you’re an incense type of person, those work too.  Consider using those with essential oils or scents such as chamomile, rose, vanilla and lavender. They are calming scents.

Thoroughly Clean the Room. Wash and Wipe down the walls, baseboards, windows and floors — with natural cleaners. Repair wall holes, cracks, squeaky windows, peeling paint. A clean home is great for fostering clear thoughts and just clarity, in general.

Set up Calendar and Chore Lists. Even if you’re a stay-at-home mom, you shouldn’t be doing all of the cleaning and upkeep. Set up a chore sheet for the refrigerator for after school chores. Also, start a new family calendar for keeping up with back to school nights, upcoming field trips, sports activities and other events so everyone knows what’s going on. If you’re the family manager as mom, you shouldn’t be the only one aware of what days are soccer practice.  Sitters, your spouse and house guests should too. Also, a chore list is great for keeping up the principles of feng shui which are all about clean spaces.

Keep Toys Dedicated to ONE area of the home (or maybe two) Avoid the chaotic mind that comes when you have toys and other things sprinkled in every nook and cranny of the home. Toys should be kept only to the play room, the kids room or one area of the apartment that is quartered off and situated with a toy chest, storage bin or some place where you can quickly toss all the toys hanging out all over the house. The tough part may be to stick to this one simple rule.

When the kids are not playing with a toy, there is really no need for it to be taking up space on the kitchen table or creating a tripping hazard for you or a guest. Either you, your partner or trained kids if they are old enough should make a concerted effort to gather all errant toys and keep them in the designated area.

It seems pretty intuitive, huh?

Over time, it will become a habit or second nature and you will find toys are not strewn about as much anymore. I do this with other areas of my home and life.  All papers, books, newspapers, invoices, magazines are usually put away in our home office.  All clothes go in a hamper, closet or bedroom.  Dishes, cups and silverware discovered anywhere in the house are picked up and taken in the kitchen

Think of this mantra:  “There is a place for Everything and Everything in its place.”

Organize the Paper Trails. Each year, families accumulate reports, information from school, permission slips and the such. It will get mixed in with bills, receipts, warranties and other paper that come into your life.
