RHOA’s Shamea Morton Announced Her Baby’s Gender with Fireworks!

Real Housewives of Atlanta Friend of the Wives Shamea Morton and her husband Gerald Mwangi hosted an over-the-top Gender Reveal party over the weekend. In attendance were RHOA stars Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd, Cynthia Bailey and Porsha Williams.

“We’re waiting to find out what my boo @shameamorton is having! I’m #TeamBoy.” Burruss captioned a photo of her and hubby cradling Morton’s bump on her Instagram. “What do y’all think? Update: It’s a girl! ? #ShameaAndGeraldGenderReveal?: @hauseofglam

Turns out Burruss was wrong. The couple are actually expecting a girl which made Morton happy.

“I hope she’s a mini-me,” Shamea told US Weekly. “I do girls really well,” she added. “I was more terrified of a boy. I’m all for the tutus and bows.”

Gerald was equally excited to learn that he would welcome a girl later this year. “He already calls her his princess,” Shamea revealed. “He’s overjoyed.”

And boy was it quite the reveal!  In a video produced by Freddy O, Morton shares that she had no clue what the baby’s sex was but was excited to learn.

The guests gathered outdoors to watch fireworks launch and eventually, the last set of explosions revealed pink works! It’s a girl!

“We showed our 45minute wedding video and the entire house was quiet,” the former Atlanta Falcons cheerleader told Us. “There were even a few tears shed when we played our vows.”

Along with the fireworks display, revelers enjoyed a feast that included cupcakes, pulled pork, corn on the cob and rotisserie chicken.

Morton called the entire night was “a dream.”

5 Back to School Tips for School/Life Balance

As many children go back to school this month, several struggle in class, lose assignment sheets and notes, miss assignments and  forget to bring home books needed to complete homework if he or she is not organized.  There are tremendous benefits to teaching children executive functioning skills. These are the type of skills top or mid level execs use to succeed in work but certainly can apply to kids as well.

Organization and focus are key qualities for many successful adults, but these skills do not come naturally to grown ups, imagine if you were taught it at a young age and grew with those skills.

Here are 5 tips to assist all parents and children:

  1. Stash and trash– Prevent mountains of papers from accumulating by learning what to keep and what to toss. This is a very important skill, even for the most organized adults! Teach children at a young age what types of documents to keep and throw away as well as how to best organize the materials they are keeping. Your future storage bins will thank you!
  1. Balancing work and fun – It is important to teach children that there is a time for work and a time for play, and that they are both important for a well-balanced life! Make time for studying, after school activities and dinner with the family.
  1. Manage the day – Parents have planners, and so should children! Teach your child to use a day planner or calendar, where they can record their school work, after-school activities, social events and family time.  Whether it is paper or digital, it doesn’t matter. The point is that the child learns to manage their time and sets realistic expectations for each day.
  1. Organize assignments –Parents can help their children stay organized with color-coded folders and a desk-top storage system for their school work.  Children also really enjoy label makers. Divide the folders and storage containers by subject, and teach children how to label accordingly.
  1. Lightening the backpack without losing the work – We’ve all witnessed the tiny child with the gigantic backpack that weighs nearly as much as they do, as well as the extreme opposite of the student who shows up to class without a pen or paper. Teaching children to carry what is important for the day will help them be better prepared for class. Go over the day’s activities the night before, make a list of what classes and activities the child has and pack accordingly.

This solid advice should help parents have a basis and foundation for passing on these critical skills to their children.

Little sister is following in her siblings’ footsteps and staying in until the last possible moment. I mustered just barely enough motivation to smile and snap one more of these #bumpdate photos (cause no way in heck I’m gonna be pregnant another week!). ⭐️ I feel extremely blessed that I’m able to carry my babies so long and that so far I’ve had easy deliveries. Praying this one goes just as well. ⭐️ My husband today asked if I’m ready to be changing diapers again and I laughed and said no. I seriously haven’t spent much time dwelling on what our day to Day will look like soon. And admittedly I’ve forgotten what it’s like to snuggle and smell a newborn. It reminds me a lot like I felt before having my oldest daughter. So much unknown. But I have a feeling it’s all going to come back like riding a bike. The mama instincts will kick back in and my heart will triple in size. ⭐️ Sharing a few more photos from this no makeup lazy shoot in my stories. I even got the hubs to join me for one! ? #41weekspregnant

3 Reasons Why Peasant Dresses Are The Best for Chic Expecting and New Moms

I love peasant dresses so much and I think they are the best for fashionable and stylish expecting and new moms on the mend after giving birth for three reasons.

1. The A-line Silohuette. This style of dresses is A-line, meaning, the silhouette resembles the letter A. It can conceal a growing bump if you are in your early stages of pregnancy and do not want to reveal the news yet to others. Also, if you are slowly getting your pre-birth body back, a peasant dress can also conceal your still very much there post parump belly.

2. The Empire Waist. Another plus in this style of dress is the fact that a lot of them are empire waist and therefore are usually cut at the breastbone. This design means the dress will not be too constricting on your growing belly or portruding tummy and will give your room to breathe if you are still growing a tiny human and find breathing a little taxing. Yet the Bohemian style is still chic and trendy so you can be cute too.

3. They Flatter All Shapes. I love this style also because they can accommodate most body shapes: Apple, Curvy, thin, and more! I recently purchased a Bohemian dress from Forever 21 and wore it on vacation recently and I discovered I could have worn that dress in three different style. Like a baby doll dress with flip flops for a casual stroll; as a peasant dress for a mid-day outdoor lunch and off the shoulder for an evening out, as I displayed in a recent Instagram post:

The sky’s the limit with peasant dresses  I curated a few of my faves in the widget below to give you some inspiration and styling ideas! Enjoy!

Ciara and Nicole Johnson Accompany Sports Hubbies at Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards

Seattle Seahawk‘s Russell Wilson attended this year’s Kids’ Choice Sports Awards and carried to the event his wife, R&B pop star Ciara and their kids 14-month old Sienna Princess and Future Zahir, Ciara’s son from a previous relationship with hip hop artist Future.

Future sported a red flannel shirt and matching sneakers, gray shorts and a white T-shirt with a cityscape design, with a fly pair of shades, capturing the spotlight and red carpet in solo pics and with his fam.

Baby sister made her debut on the orange carpet in a cute white tutu and screen onesie with silver high tops like mom.

Ciara and Wilson’s 14-month-old daughter Sienna Princess made her debut on the orange carpet, rocking an angelic ensemble that included a white shirt with a black star print, white tutu and silver sneakers.

Michael Phelps was accompanied by his wife, Nicole Johnson and their son Boomer Robert Phelps on the orange carpet but baby Beckett Richard Phelps joined them in the audience later, wearing the latest in baby loud ear protection.

How to Get an Insurance Subsidized Breast Pump Before Baby Arrives

Content created in partnership with Stork Pump

Every expecting mom who plans to breastfeed her newborn puts a breastpump on her baby show registry wish list but because they usually are expensive, few people end up purchasing it for the mom-to-be, who is usually left scraping together her pennies to get one on her own after baby arrives.

Did you know that there is a low cost alternative to shelling out hundreds of dollars (a Medela Pump in Style Advanced Double Electric Breast Pump with Backpack can run $300!) in some cases to get a new breast pump?

A lot of insurance companies will subsidize the purchase of one for their insured families.

One company, Storkpump, recently opened up shop with the motto to create “a world full of happy healthy babies.” Part of that mission is making sure even moms on a budget can access a top quality breast pump so her baby is nourished with breast milk when she is away from baby.

To receive a breast pump, interested expecting parents can either fax, call or fill out a form to inquire about how to get a pump shipped to them in time for baby’s arrival.

Among the options of breast pumps available are: The Spectra S2 Double Electric Breast Pump, a perfect pump for on the go that comes with a stylish, light-weight tote so there is no need to worry about how you look carrying your breast pump.

The Spectra S2  gives you hospital quality on the go without all the noise. This pump is touted to be among the quietest in the industry and weighs only 4 pounds, giving moms the flexibility of a portable pump that is also hospital grade quality.

One of the top legacy quality pumps is the Medela Pump in Style Starter which started out as a hospital pump before the company started marketing their pumps to regular consumers. is just for you! I’ve used this pump with my three children and it is very simple to use. Attach the connectors to the pump, suction the breasts and hit the start button. This pump reportedly produces 18% more milk than competitors! Perfect!

Also, there is the Ameda Finesse which is another super quiet pump and one of the quietest in the market with its stylish look.  This machine provides a truly customizable experience so that each mother can adjust to her own body’s response.

There are a couple other pumps available too and the one you end up getting may depend on  your budget, you insurance carriers subsidy or allowance and what features you want in your pump.

I sincerely wished that such options were available to me over a decade ago when I was first growing a family and that is why I am happy to share with my audience all of these new innovative and inventive options, solutions and alternatives available to modern moms of today!

Follow Storkpump  on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest for updates, specials and other information you may need to get a leg up and heads up on upcoming deals.

10 Books For a Healthy Vegan Pregnancy Like Natalie Portman’s

Bellyitch Rewind

Natalie Portman is in the news over her decision to have herself and her children follow a Vegan diet. The Black Swan actress first became vegan during her pregnancy, something that a lot of people consider a no-no.

She isn’t the only celebrity to be criticized for following a plant-based diet. A few year ago, actress Emily Deschanel got some heat by continuing with her vegan diet while pregnant last year.

However, despite concerns, remaining vegan while pregnant can be done safely with the consultation of a doctor and nutritionist and maybe also by reading up on some recommended books on having a well-rounded vegan diet.

She is not the only celebrity to stick with her vegan diet even while pregnant. Alicia Silverstone even wrote about her vegan pregnancy diet. Carrie Underwood, Natalie Portman and Allyson Hannigan  are vegans who softened up and switched to vegetarianism during pregancy.
A few years ago, The Happy Herbivore put together a post that includes a list of recommended books for having a safe vegan diet and pregnancy and here are the few we love the most, with a few added books:

Reviewing Our British Soccer Camp Experience

My daughter attended British Soccer Camp held on the field of a middle school on Capitol Hill in DC and had a great time making new friends, picking up some skills and enjoying the sport. As a bonus, her camp took place during the 2018 World Cup Soccer tournament.

She has played on soccer teams since she was 4-years old or so and more recently, she’s shown to have some skill and talent at the sport. Therefore, my husband has been keen on taking her and her big brother to our local college soccer fields for training. He, himself, is a fan of soccer, or football, as they call it in his native Trinidad and Tobago (and the rest of the world. heh. heh.)

That’s why I was excited about the opportunity from the camp for my little girl to attend the camp in exchange for this review.

Each day, I’d drop her off and she got with her age group team, and was taught drills, skills, and new techniques. Her coach, Casio, was actually from Brazil but taught the camp with an Irish coach. For three hours daily Monday thru Friday, they taught two groups of about 10 kids in each group on the field.

Each day, the coaches took the players through progressive series of skill building practices from unopposed, to opposed, game related and finally into a game.

  • Soccer ABC – Players learned to limprove their Agility, Balance and Coordination.
  • Dribbling – campers taught to improve the ability to change direction and move at speed.
  • Moves – kids learned to master more than 20 different ways to turn and fake opponents.
  • Passing – they learned to improve accuracy, pace and 1st touch control.
  • Shooting – players also learned to improve power and placement with each foot.
  • Heading – some campers were taught how to safely and confidently head the ball (approved age groups only)
  • Tackling/Defending – the kids learned to improve their tackling skills and learn how to defend.

She also came home with homework: to find and wear a specific team color the next day, to design a flag of one of the World Cup teams and to mimic the design of a World Cup Team (hers was Germany) on a white T-shirt.  We had a great time designing the shirt together at home.

Overall, she learned a lot and really enjoyed the experience. I could tell that she had picked up some new tricks and honed her skills some during the week. I’m glad she had an opportunity to attend and I will be sending her back next year, perhaps for the full day camp!

For the most part, they had great weather though the last day it rained all day which put a damper on their finishing ceremony where they each got certificates. The kids were still very excited about wrapping up a great week.

Consider signing up your kid for the remaining camps this year or next!

Peep Cardi B and Offset’s Daughter’s $4500 Crib

For a few years early in this blog’s life, I published an annual list of the most expensive strollers, cribs, baby and children’s clothes and maternity wear which I eventually compiled in a book called Bellyitch 100 (you can get it HERE!).

The most expensive crib on that list was made by Art for Kids and cost $4,400.

Cardi B‘s custom made crib for her and husband Offset‘s daughter Kulture surpasses that one. The rapper took to Instagram to show off the crib which according to Vogue’s research cost $4,500, retail.

“I didn’t want to set the crib up until we moved but Offset set it up while I was in the hospital,” she said. “It’s just so gorgeous.”

Thanks @premadonna87 ???

The crib’s designers, Kapesh Designs, said on Instagram that this exact one was custom made, but the fact Vogue could find a similar product in stock on their website proves that claim may not be entirely accurate.however, they had a similar product still in stock.

This little Princess’ crib adds to the crib’s of kids from other famous celebrities like Kim Kardashian West‘s  $4,500 Vetro Lucite crib for her brood (Beyoncé and Jay Z are also allegedly fans of the minimalist baby furniture), while Serena Williams posted a picture of her daughter’s rose gold crib by Incy Interiors to her Instagram story.
