Bristol Palin Welcomed Third Child, Daughter Atlee

bristol-palin

Congratulations to former reality TV show star Bristol Palin on the birth of her third child, a daughter, with her husband Dakota Meyer.

The daughter to former Alaska governor and US Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin shared the news on her Instagram account. “Welcome to the world Atlee Bay” the former Dancing with the Stars alum captioned a photo of herself cradling her newborn with her husband by her side.

welcome to the world Atlee Bay ??

Palin and Meyer married last year and are parents to 1-year old daughter Sailor Grace; and 8-year old son Tripp Johnston, who is Bristol’s son with her ex-fiancé Levi Johnston.

These are the 8 Essential Items You Need for Your Newborn Baby

To a lot of brand new mothers-to-be, having a new baby is a scary.

Often, friends and family tell you that you’ll be overwhelmed (which you will be!), and try to give you advice on what items you should have ready for when your new one comes into your life.

You’ll get advice about a lot of items people think you should have but in reality, there are really just 8 vital items every new mom should have for their newborn baby. Although all a baby needs is love and warmth, here are some items which will make your life much easier!

Furniture

1.Crib and mattress: You will surely want a place for your newborn to sleep in. Whether you’re planning on cuddling them next to you for the first few weeks, or want to have your baby sleeping in a crib, you just need to remember that they spend around 16 hours per day snoozing. It is therefore imperative to check that their crib or mattress meets safety standards. You can choose between the variety of Moses baskets, bassinets, pack-and-play, or co-sleepers.

2. Dresser: This item is guaranteed to make your life easier. Featuring generous space for storing clothes, diapers or blankets, a dresser will save a lot of space, and make it comfortable for you to find items at the click of a finger.

Baby Care

3. Car Seat: In many countries (including the United States), it’s illegal to have a baby in the car without a car seat. Needless to say those car seats provide added comfort and most importantly, safety, but no need to guilt-trip yourself into buying anything expensive. Just choose something which meets current safety standards, and you’re good to go!

4. Stroller: There is a variety of strollers available in today’s marketplace. Nonetheless, you will always hear moms talking about needing to have enough undercarriage space (designed for storing diapers, milk bottles or chocolate snacks- those ones are just to keep you going!)

5. Bouncer or Swing: Many moms like having one or the other. Whether you just need 5 minutes to lay flat on the floor and think of the sleep you’re losing, doing laundry or just making dinner, it’s nice to see your little one bounce around.

6. Burp cloths: This may be a touchy subject for a new-mom: your newborn is going to spit-up or vomit in the future. Quite a lot as well. You will want to be prepared, so always have a clean supply of 15-20 burp cloths.

7. Diapers and wipes: The trick with diapers is, when you think you’ve got enough, get more! There is no possible way you can estimate how many diapers you’ll need to change, so better be well prepared and have a little arsenal of diapers just ready for the battlefield!

8. Baby Monitor: As a first-time parent, you may find great comfort in having a baby monitor which will allow you to get some sleep without having to check on your beautiful new one every 5 minutes. Products nowadays have evolved, ranging from simple monitors with integrated sound systems, to high-tech ones with motion-detectors.

Other items Worth Mentioning

Hands-free baby carrier: This item might be a bit strange, as I’m still unsure if the baby likes the closeness of hearing their parent’s heartbeat, or parents just love snuggling up with their little ones. Regardless, whether you’re on your way to the grocery story, taking your dog out for a walk, or just need to snuggle, you can rely on this product.

Breast pump: Establishing a milk supply can sometimes be difficult. In this case, buying a breast pump may come in handy. However, if you’re unsure which one you should choose, why not rent a hospital-grade one? The benefits include the fact that it’s returnable, efficient and clean.

Diaper bag: The best diaper bag has a few characteristics which you won’t want to overlook. Waterproof/microfiber materials mean that you’ll be protected from different environmental factors, and that the items inside your bag will remain intact, as desired.

Items Not Worth Your Money:

Baby clothes: Chances are everyone knows you’re having a baby. The easiest thing for friends and family to get you is cute little-people-sized clothes. So don’t waste your money on them, you’ll have plenty of other expenses.

Toys: For the first months of their life, your newborn won’t be able to separate a car from a giraffe. In addition, your family will make sure your baby will always have a stuffed little friend next to them, so don’t worry about that.

To sum up, there are many items available in today’s market, making it very difficult for a first-time parent to know what to choose, and where from. These items can be separated into three categories: 1. Must haves, 2. Optional items, 3. Not needed items. However, as mentioned in the beginning of this article, knowledge will come with time, and all a baby really needs is the comfort of your presence, and the love you can offer.

Celeb Trend: The Band Tee Never Goes Out of Style

I LOVE a rocker or a  band tee and so do a lot of the Celeb women we have”bump watched” in the past.

Jessica Simpson, Kim Kardashian and her sister Kourtney Kardashian, Kate Hudson and Alessandra Ambrosio have all rocked the band tee well when snapped out and about. (See above collage)

Not only are these chic t-shirts great way to pay homage to a fave performer or band of the present or yesteryear, but they are iconic fashion items that are forever in style.

Sleeveless, long sleeved, under a denim or leather jacket, with a pair of jeans or cropped shorts, they can be mixed and matched in any  casual look.

I’ve Insta-shared pics of myself in band tees featuring The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, The Rolling Stones and more myself. (See collage below)

Cant get enough and my collection continue to grow.

I curated a selection of rockstar tees under $20 each for my budget conscious readers. Check it out: Powered by my partners at Shopstyle:

Unfounded Autism-Vaccine Link Fears To Blame for Minnesota’s Measles Outbreak

syringe-435809_1280

A measles outbreak continues to strike Minnesota as health officials stress the importance of getting vaccinated.

There are now 48 confirmed measles cases in Hennepin, Ramsey and Crow Wing counties, mostly affecting unvaccinated Somali-American children, according to data released by the state’s Department of Health on Monday.

Of those impacted, 46 are children 10 and younger; 41 are Somali-American; and 45 have not been vaccinated against the disease, according to the data.

The state’s outbreak — the largest in over two decades — appears to have started in a Somali community, where vaccine skepticism has recently spread, said Kristen Ehresmann, director of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Prevention and Control Division at the Minnesota Department of Health.

“I want to be very clear that this outbreak has nothing to do with being Somali. It’s just the sheer fact of being unvaccinated,” Ehresmann said.

Minnesota’s Somali community has seen an uptick in vaccine resistance due to fears of a link to autism, she said. Research shows that any side effects from vaccines are rare, and there is no evidence that vaccines cause autism.

“Usually, states will see one or two cases in a year, and what’s concerning is, as of today, we’ll be at 48 cases of measles,” Ehresmann said of Minnesota.

“The most worrisome thing is, it’s a completely unnecessary outbreak,” she said. “We have a vaccine that can prevent measles, and yet we’re seeing this widespread transmission.”

Beyonce’s Publicist Had to Set The Blogs Straight on Lip Filler Rumors

img_5525
Recent photos Beyonce has posted of herself reveal that her lips are a lot fuller than usual.

When gossip Blogs started to report on suggestions that she was using lip fillers,  Bey’s  longtime publicist Yvette Noel-Schure set one straight.

In a sternly written letter to Media Take out, Noel-Schure set the site whose writers clearly know-nothing about pregnancy straight:

“What do you know about the effects of pregnancy on a woman’s entire body? Please tell me. Did you know that in addition to weight gain there is often a dramatic change in the blood flow in the system and increased fluid causing swelling? Do you know that often women’s gums get swollen? Do you know that it sometimes affects our speech, our ability to chew intently and a host of other things?”

img_5523

Damn straight! Wait! There is more! She continued:

“But the sacrifice to our faces, our feet and our entire bodies is something we welcome because we bring beautiful humans into the world who will one day combat your hate and negativity. I stood silent during Beyoncé’s first pregnancy when you thought it was okay to bully her like the cowards you are, when you accused her of never being pregnant, but I simply cannot this time.”

img_5524

She polished off the read:

“You are the saddest individuals and picking on a pregnant lady is tantamount to possessing the coldest, despicable heart. You need to find something else to do with your time and maybe stop by a store that has happiness on sale because you need to buy some.”

Yes! Yes and Yes!!

Just like I would have read them

NPR Enters the Podcast Arena through Its First Ever Kids’ Program

npr

Podcasts are the hottest thing in entertainment these days.  Everyone’s doing them and/or listening them.

National Public Radio is getting in on it too with the launch of its new podcast for kids  ages 5-12 called Wow in the World that illuminates the wonders of science, technology, discovery and inventions.

This is the first time in NPR’s 47-year history that it will release a children’s program.

Starting May 15, NPR’s Guy Raz and SiriusXM’s Mindy Thomas will take kids and their grown-ups on a journey into the most incredible science and kid-friendly news stories of the week.

The duo previously hosted a Friday news segment on Sirius XM’s Kids Place Live channel called Breakfast Blast Newscast. The 3-year old segment went on to win the International New York Festivals Award for best children’s program in 2016.

And now the experienced two are taking their talents to the NPR podcast world.

Wow in the World is a place where we can tap into the crazy cool things that are happening all around us, every day!” Thomas said of the series in a press release. “We want to help spark conversations between kids and other kids and also with their grown-ups that will ultimately lead to their own big discoveries.”

Each episode begins with a series of questions that lead to an explanation about a new amazing scientific discovery or finding. For example, “How long would it take to get to the closest star outside our solar system?” or “How did we Homo sapiens come to dominate the planet?” or “How do astronauts poop in space?”

They hope to make the news fun and interesting by using comedy infused with conversation and voices from real kids.

“As parents and caregivers, many of us grapple with screen-time,” Raz adds. “This show is not just an alternative to screens but a show about celebrating the spirit of inquiry and encouraging kids to ask even more questions.”

Episodes will feature new research on , dinosaurs, animals, technology and human origins.

NPR will distribute the show and Tinkercast, a new production company that focuses on family-friendly content, will produce the program.

Wow in the World can be downloaded wherever podcasts are available including npr.org/wow, Apple Podcasts, and at www.wowintheworld.com

7 Tips for New Moms Returning to School After Baby

graduate baby2

You don’t have to let the fact that you had a baby before or in the middle of college deter you from returning or starting. Despite all the obstacles and challenges associated with returning to school after a baby, if you put in a plan, you certainly can do it and findAnanny.com wants you to use these beneficial suggestions to get it done.

1. Build a Support System – The most important thing for a student mom to have in place is a strong and reliable support system. Not only will you need help with childcare and managing the needs of your new baby while keeping up with your studies, you’ll also need a shoulder or two you can cry on when things get difficult. Finishing school as a parent will be a challenge, and having a few people in your corner can make all the difference.

2. Create a Routine That Works For Your Family – There is no hard-and-fast rule about how you have to structure your household routine, especially when your little one is still an infant. Find a schedule that works for you and build around it. If online classes are more conducive to learning and completing assignments than a traditional classroom setting, that’s the best solution for you. On the other hand, getting out of the house and interacting with your classmates may help you manage the demands of parenthood more easily. Whatever works for you is the best solution, regardless of how well it would work for someone else

3. Set Realistic Goals -You may have planned to take on a full course load before your pregnancy, but that may not be realistic after the birth of a child. Rather than setting goals that aren’t feasible and being disappointed when they prove to be a bit more than you’re ready to handle, take your time and make a plan that you can actually adhere to. Celebrate each milestone along the way and stay focused on each smaller goal as they approach

4. Work Out a Reasonable Timeline- Finishing school on the standard time table may be out of the cards for you as a new mom, and that’s okay. The goal is to finish, so take the time to figure out when you can realistically complete your studies. You may have to shoulder a lighter burden in terms of classes and finish later than some of your peers, but you’ll still leave with a diploma, which is better than trying to take on too much only to end up burned out and frustrated enough to quit school altogether. You may also have ideas of returning to school days after the birth of your child, however, that may not be possible. Finding the right time to return to school after you recover from delivery and have bonded with your new baby may be a bit more complicated than simply returning as soon as you’re discharged from the hospital.

img_5515

5. Find a Caregiver You Trust – Your child will have to be cared for while you’re at school since you won’t be able to take her to class with you. To make the transition into school after becoming a new parent, you’ll need to make sure that you’ve found a childcare provider you absolutely trust and have no qualms about leaving her with. If you’re distracted and worried about your child’s safety while you’re in class, your academic performance probably won’t reflect your actual abilities.

6. Prepare for a Bit of Separation Anxiety -Regardless of how excited you are to get back into school after your maternity leave ends, you will feel at least a little bit of separation anxiety until you adjust to the idea of no longer spending the entirety of each day with the fascinating little person you’ve created. If you’re prepared for the stress of leaving your child in someone else’s care and understand that it’s just temporary, it can lessen the sting and help to make that pain a bit more manageable.

7. Don’t Be Scared to Adjust Your Schedule – As a new mom and a student, your schedule may have to be adjusted a few times until you find the one that works for you. Making adjustments is not the same as admitting defeat, so don’t be afraid to finagle things until you find the methods that work best for you and your new family.

Britney Spears outed Zoe Saldana’s Twin Pregnancy

img_5503

In 2014, Zoe Saldana and her husband, Marco Perego, welcomed twin boys, Bowie and Cy. During an interview this week on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Saldana revealed that her friend and former costar, Britney Spears, outed her pregnancy to the press before she and her husband were ready to share the news, People reports.

The Crossroads costars met on an airplane and spent the flight catching up, Saldana said.

“We were on the same flight from L.A. to New York and we just talked for the duration of the flight,” she explained. “She has two boys , I was having twins — and we had a beautiful talk. And I forgot — it never even occurred to me to not to say anything. We weren’t trying to hide it, we were just trying to be discreet.”

A few days later, Spears was asked during an interview with Entertainment Tonight if she and Saldana might work together again someday and the baby news came out.

“Who knows? That’s a very good idea. But she’s pregnant with twins right now. So I’m sure she’s got a huge future ahead of her,” Spears said during the interview.
