Cocoa Austin compares bump With hubby’s SVU co-star Kelli Giddish

cocoa austin pregnancy

While visiting the set of her husband Ice T‘s show Law and Order: SVU recently, talk show and reality TV star Coco Austin used the opportunity to update her Instagram fans on her pregnancy and catch up with fellow preggers SVU star, Kelli Giddish.

Of her pregnancy, the buxom host of FOX talk show Ice and Coco wrote in a photo of herself in a paisley halter maxi dress cupping her belly:

So u ask where is my baby bump? Well, basically its going ALL to my boobs.LOL almost 26 weeks & there is still little sight of #babychanel

Again I feel so blessed to be breezing through the stages of pregnancy and hope it doesn’t change. I do wear less heels but honesty my feet haven’t given me problems yet! Instead of working out 3-4 times a week I brought it down to maybe twice a week but then again fitness hasn’t even been a priority..I don’t really crave food that much and have only gained 5 pounds.. I’m not usually a sweets person but I do crave a little at night right before I go to bed now and lastly she’s kicking & moving around like crazy in my belly..I always joke, she’s practicing her yoga!! Haha….. Ok so there is your update. I’m on the set of Law&Order and had some downtime to fill you in

She also posed with Giddish (Det. Amanda Rollins on the show) who is 33 weeks along and who had a less glam, and more laid back natural barfeet boho look going on.

“I love my homegirl @kelligiddish its so cool were preggers at the same time!” Austin captioned the pic.  “LaborDay weekend fun! #svu

Kelli is #33weeks I am #26weeks”.

Giddish, who married husband  Lawrence Faulborn in an intimate ceremony on June 20, is also expecting her first child…just as Austin is with hubby of over a decade, rapper and actor Ice-T.

Cool! Looking good ladies!

5 Ways to Hack the Playground (INFOGRAPHIC)

playground hacks bellyitchblog.com

You know you really shouldn’t take the smartphone to you to the park and stay glued on it while your kids play at the playground.

If you want to make the most of your time watching the kids at the playground or if you have a backyard playground of your own, why not mix it up a bit and implement one of these playground “hacks” that the nice folks at RubberMulch came up with for “bored parents”?

Though something about that sounds a bit oxymornic!  ha!  Enjoy! We like that sand pit out of an inflatable pool idea the best here at Bellyitch!

Mistress to Married and Expecting NFL Star Adrian Peterson Sues $2M for Pregnancy, even After Miscarrying ‘Love Child’

adrian peterson sued bellyitchblog.com

Minnesota Vikings football player Adrian Peterson was being sued for $2 Million in child support by a massage therapist (not his currently pregnant wife, Ashley) who he got pregnant.

And even though the massage therapist recently miscarried since filing her child support claim, she still seeks monetary compensation from Peterson for pain and suffering and pregnancy expenses.

TMZ reported that this August, the complainant’s attorney contacted Peterson for a settlement to cover the following expenses for 18 years of the child’s life, had it been born and lived:

1. Monthly support — $6,000 for 216 months ($1,296,000)

2. Pre and postnatal costs — $30,000

3. Health insurance costs — $1,000 per month for 216 months ($216k)

4. Private school — average of $30k for 13 years ($325k)

5. Uninsured health care costs including mental health costs for the child — $3k per year

6. Attorney’s fees — $60,000

However, she miscarried in early September and has amended the complaint, TMZ notes, to request money for pregnancy related expenses and “pain and suffering.”

Peterson rejected the initial demand but his attorney has said he is open to settle for a reasonable amount if the child was determined to have been his.

That was before the miscarriage.  The message therapist says she kept the “fetal tissue”.

It brings to mind some serious questions including what constitutes a “child” given she was probably in the early stages when miscarrying yet wants the court to determine it was a child. In many circumstances related to abortion, there is denial that a fetus can and should be considered a child.

Murky.

Anyway, this would’ve been Peterson’s 9th child. It is disputed but his wife is reportedly expecting his 8th child and he supposedly have had 6 other children with other women in the past.

What a mess!

Tamera Mowry-Housley Claps Back at Fans accusing her of Selling Her Baby’s First Photos

The Real co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley introduced her newborn daughter Ariah Taleah via Instagram Monday, but shortly after had to shut down trolls accusing her of selling out.

“This baby girl is enjoying the fact that when she’s up. Mommy is up,” Mowry-Housley captioned an adorable photo of her 7-week old newborn she shard on her Instagram “Happy Labor Day from Ariah.”

This is her and husband FOX News Correspondent Adam Housley‘s second child. They are parents to 2-year old son Aden.

Mowry-Housley also took the opportunity to  share that more photos could be found exclusively in PEOPLE magazine, on magazine racks now.

But just as soon as she revealed that news, her comments got littered with several people accusing the twin star of “selling out” and betraying fans by telling them she wanted to withhold photos for privacy reasons when the true reason was she was waiting for paid-for pics to be published.

For awhile now, her fans in social media have been begging for a glimpse of her baby.

Apparently frustrated by the slams, Mowry-Housley clapped back.

“People people people,” Mowry-Housley wrote in one of the comments under her photo. ” No one got PAID for these PICS!!! Respect my HONESTY AND MOVE ON!! My TRUE FANS would know that :)”

The TV host said she felt compelled to correct some of those who had been leaving messages questioning her intentions, honesty and integrity.

She tried to keep it classy though I know she wanted to lay into some of the commenters with harsher words.

“Be blessed, ” she continued. “I had to write something because you’re DEAD wrong. You know who you are. Blessings and much love to the people judging without the facts.”

Behind the scenes at the family shoot

The former reality TV show star of “Tia and Tamera” on the now-defunct a Style network kept it respectful.

“Wow. Some people never cease to amaze me.,” she continued. “But I love them anyways.”

Read em, Tamera! (Smile)

Not long ago, celebrities would sell first photos of their babies for millions of dollars but that practice and the first pic market has since dried up as most share first photos in social media and no longer to the highest bidder.

Beyoncé is well known for withholding her daughter Blue Ivy’s face from the public for over a year and Brit celeb Rochelle Humes too.

Nowadays, most make the first reveal in social media.

People really get invested in celebrity pregnancies and babies.

We think Mowry-Housley’s fans and some trolls are still fighting under pics right now. Ha!

Meanwhile, in the feature, the Tv star told PEOPLE that she has been having fun dressing her “mini-me” who she describe as having a very her calm temperament.

“I have so much fun with the clothes,” she tells PEOPLE. “There are so many more choices! But I try to balance it out — I have really, really girly clothes, and then I have clothes that are kind of neutral.”

Ariah and her uncle Taj Mowry

Today, the Biz woman who co-owns motherhood company Mama Need with her sister Tia Mowry Hardrict posted a photo of Ariah with her bro, actor Taj Mowry.

Tamera’a sister Tia Mowry posted this photo of her niece on her Instagram today

She looks much like her auntie actually, we think. So cute!

What a gorgeous family!

10 Signs Your Child Is Gifted

Parents generally think all of their children are pretty special, but some kids really are uniquely gifted when it comes to learning and grasping schoolwork.

If you were a gifted student yourself, you might recognize the signs, but here’s some tips for those of you who aren’t sure what to look for.

1. Strong Vocabulary – What kinds of words and sentence structure does your child use? Do they use more multi-syllable words than their peers? Are they often asking about the meanings of new words they hear and do they quickly put new words to use? Gifted children often have advanced vocabularies and quickly pickup word meanings through their contextual use.

2. Quick on Completing Schoolwork – If your child’s teacher tells you that your child is always one of the first ones completed with their assignments, this is a strong clue that your child is more advanced than the other students in their classroom.

3. Understand Monetary Concepts – Use of money is one of the first mathematical concepts that kids are exposed to in their home environment. If your child quickly picks up the concepts of the monetary values of coins and how they relate to one another, this may be a sign that you have a mathematically gifted child.

4. Listen and Learn – Does your child seem to be able to pick up concepts and the words to songs as soon as they hear them, even if it is only once? Gifted children don’t need the same amount of repetition to learn as other children.

5. Enjoys a Mental Challenge – Are puzzles fun for your child, but they quickly get bored with them if they are too easy? This could be a sign of a gifted child. Gifted children enjoy a challenge but easily become bored if there isn’t enough challenge.

6. Mature Sense of Humor – A gifted child will be more likely to understand more complex humor such as is found in newspaper comic strips or jokes that other children their age may not be able to understand.

7. Advanced Reading Skills – Most gifted children have advanced reading skills and enjoy reading. You will find them breezing through large books quickly and yet still comprehending what they’ve read and being able to explain it to you.

8. Enjoys Learning New Things – For gifted children, learning new things is exciting and fun. They have a great curiosity about how things function, how things are made and learning about just about any subject.

9. Observatory Skills – If you have a gifted child, they will notice things and remember things that most other kids would not. They may notice simple details like a person wearing a different watch than they normally do or be able to remember the exact icons on your computer that you clicked on to get to the program that they like to play.

10. Grasps Relationships – Gifted children will grasp and understand relational concepts quicker than their peers. They will be able to pick out and replicate more complicated patterns. They will find it easier to fill in the missing piece from a sequence.

Hopefully, these clues will empower you to know whether your kid is gifted and what, if anything, to do about it.

Celebrities are Branding Their Children via Social Media Hashtags

celebrity children names hashtags

When Mariah Carey and Nick Canon welcomed twins Monroe and Moroccan to the world, they famously gave the babies the moniker “dem babies” – slang for them babies and proceeded to create a website for them. The branding has stuck.

Similarly, some may recall during the spring 2013 season of the BravoTV show Real Housewives of Atlanta our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Kim Zolciak and castmate Kandi Burruss feuded over the baby name Kash.

Upon hearing of Burruss’ plans to possibly name her next child Kash, Zolciak let Burruss and the audience know that she had already taken out a trademark for that name so they could be the only ones to capitalize off the name.

Also, in 2012, Beyonce and Jay Z filed to trademark the name “Blue Ivy” even after a wedding planner whose business name was Blue Ivy claimed she already owned the rights to that name.

In the social media world, we are noticing that celebrity parents and past Bumpwatch moms like Jaime King (#JamesKnight), Autumn Reeser (#FinnWarren) and wife of NBA star Chris Bosh, Adrienne Bosh (#DylanSkye), new mom Vanessa Simmons (#AvaMarie) and others are attaching their baby’s or kids hashtags to pics they share in social media.

They’re not necessarily doing that for copyright purposes but more likely to easily catalog photos of them for later use to find and for archival purposes.

Nonetheless, the effort is a sort of branding of the baby and could possibly be used later in some fashion.

It’s all quite interesting don’t you think?

Labor Day: 7 Labor & Delivery Tips for First Time Parents

It’s Labor Day in the US, a day to celebrate the worker, but if you are pregnant and set to deliver your baby soon, you could use this day off to start exploring tips to make your delivery day smoother.

For me, I, like Jessica Alba after me, relied on Hypnobirthing techniques to get me through and still today, three kids later with no plans for more, I STILL use those techniques I learned whenever I have to encounter a painful situation (getting a shot, getting through reps while doing Pilates or weightlifting, when suffering through a bad headache).

Here are 7 other tips and tricks from BabyCenter to consider using to manage through labor pains:

1. Pack in the protein: If you were about to run a long marathon, would you eat only ice chips? No. You need to eat a protein-rich meal. It will give you the stamina needed for labor (plus many hospitals won’t let you eat once you check in anyway). Make a plan to either keep something in the fridge/freezer/cupboard or know where you can go to get your marathon meal.

  1. Don’t fight gravity: Remain upright as long as possible. Walk around or sit up, but don’t lie on your back. (Yes, that’s really me in the pic, before I found out I should be walking around.)
  2. Hydrate thyself: Pack (and use) a water bottle. If you properly hydrate yourself during labor, you’ll increase your energy output by as much as 30%. Also, if you can keep drinking water, you may not need an IV that will really restrict your mobility. That’s when the ice chips and clear liquids can also help.

  3. Breathe using your abdomen: Normal abdominal breathing increases relaxation, which you’re really going to need. Chest and patterned breathing may fool your body into stress mode, and you don’t want that.

  4. Take a virtual chill pill: You’ve got to stay relaxed. Physically, mentally, and emotionally. If music helps, bring a preloaded playlist on your iPod, locate a focal point in the room and breathe. Banish as much negative energy as possible. While it’s not easy, stay as relaxed as you can through contractions – it will let your body do what it’s supposed to do.

  5. Move around during labor: There are a variety of positions for labor. Try to change positions so you’re not in one place for too long. Speak to the nurse about how you can be monitored and still move around. Bring slippers or as for those lovely grippy hospital socks so you can walk the halls.

  6. Make sure you have support and loving encouragement: Having your husband partner or trained birth partner can make a big difference. That support will do more for you than any amount of medication!

Godspeed and good luck new first time parents!
