We share the secret of getting a beautiful pregnancy glow out of a bottle!
Theoretically pregnancy is meant to make you glow, its a biological ‘fact’. The increased amount of blood that’s circulating around your body is meant to give you a beautifully flushed look and as your skin retains more moisture and produces more sebum you’re meant to be glowing with a luminous dewy sheen – sound familiar?
Don’t worry if not, the combination of nausea, lack of sleep and sensitive skin experienced by many mums-to-be doesn’t lend itself well to natural radiance. Thankfully its easy to fake it – we explain how to get that ‘movie star’ pregnancy glow and only you need know its not real!
Step 1 – The Start
The first place to start is on the inside, drinking 8 – 10 glasses of water a day will do wonders for clearing your skin and helping to flush out water retention too. A good prenatal vitamin combined with a balanced diet that includes plenty of fruit, vegetables and omega rich foods will help too.
Step 2 – The Cleanser
Whether you suffer from dry, normal or oily skin its important to wash your face thoroughly twice a day. Using a gentle exfoliater such as Botanics In Shower Facial Polish will help to remove dead skin cells and improve circulation, banishing dull skin for good.
For best results apply in circular motions with your fingertips and rinse off with lukewarm water. Patting rather than rubbing your face dry can also help prevent blotchy skin and spider veins as you’re less likely to break the tiny capillaries that sit just under the surface of your skin.
Step 3 – The Moisturizer
Using a good moisturizer after cleansing is a must for gorgeous glowing skin. Massaging a fragrance free, sensitive moisturizer such as OZ Naturals Facial Moisturizer into your face and neck will really help to give your complexion a lift without irritating your skin. If possible it’s best to go for a moisturizer that contains an SPF factor to protect your skin against the sun’s harmful rays especially as this can also help to reduce the likelihood of chloasma (brown patches) developing.

Blend a light base into your skin with your fingertips. It’s specially designed to conceal dark circles and skin imperfections with minimal effort so you needn’t spend hours blending for that flawless finish. Tinted moisturizers and foundations like stila Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF contain light reflecting particles are also great for giving that dewy, smooth finish we all wish we had naturally.
Step 5 – The Blush
Recreate that gorgeous flushed look and perk up a grey complexion with a swirl of pink blush on the apples of your cheeks. A slightly shimmery, rosy color is always a good bet as it fakes a really healthy glow in an instant. I like Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick because it accommodates all complexions.
Step 6 – The Highlighter
Blending a peach toned highlighter along your cheek and brow bones will really help to lift your look and mimic that pregnancy sheen in seconds. You only need to use a dot and you’ll be able to recreate that ‘slept like a baby look’ on the sly. MAC’s Primed for Perfection Prep + Prime Highlighter brings a soft, sheer wash of color to the skin and goes on smoothly.
A sensitive mascara in black/brown will be gentler and more flattering on tired eyes. Curl your eyelashes first for a really wide awake look. You can’t go wrong with the old drug store fave, Maybeline’s Great Lash that usually runs under $5!
Step 8 – The Lips
To top off your gorgeously glowy look a sheer lipstick is a must. Go for a shade that’s as close to your natural lip color as possible as this will really help to finish your ‘natural’ look. Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip is a light gel that has a plumping effect.
So, now you’ve faked radiant, glowing skin all you need to do is smile and pretend that you feel as gorgeous as you look!

Tamera Mowry-Housley shared some of her own personal insight into some of the pains that women who undergo a C-Section endure when viewers of her FOX panel talk show The Real started to reply to a segment today on the show.
One follower who replied to her general tweet about the realities of C-section especially when you’re nursing.
“I know sum1 whose c-section stitching came undone just from tryin to get out of the shower,” the Twitter user Eunice responded.
To that, The Real co-host said hers “came undone when” she “had to pick up” her son, Aden. Ouch!
Mowry-Housley and her husband FOX News Correspondent Adam Housley welcomed daughter Ariah Talea in July 2015 and son Aden Tanner in November 2012.

What followed was heartwarming and great for awareness building. Many other users offered their own stories which could elevate the understanding among those who have never had a C-section or have misconceptions about it.
I know personally,I could relate to the one about the guts on the tray. My husband almost passed out when she made the mistake of peering over the surgery screen and got an eyefull of entrails! Eeeek!

DURING THE SURGERY
1. That “mild tugging sensation” line was clearly first said by a man. Mild is perhaps the understatement of the century. You feel like the wind is being taken out of you as your teeth chatter from the anesthesia. This is not a surgery for claustrophobes, as you’re completely stuck on the table — arms pinned down — while the inability to breathe overwhelms you.
IN THE HOSPITAL
2. The catheter keeps you company in the days following birth because you can’t really walk to the bathroom without those trusty ab muscles helping you out (more on that below). And then, as in all cases with a catheter, you have to learn to pee again — the longer the catheter is in, it seems, the harder it is to remember how to pee. Also not fun when you have a nurse and some loved ones waiting outside the bathroom door and you feel like you’re 5 again.
3. Have someone teach you how to even get up and out of bed. Congratulations! Your ab muscles are completely non-existent now. The good news: Your arms are gonna get buff.
AT HOME
4. Do yourself a solid and go to your local drug store (or better yet, send someone else) to buy some big-ass high-waisted underwear. You’re not gonna want anything — zippers, buttons, elasticized underwear — coming near your stomach, especially the birth area, for a while.
5. Walking is a challenge. Your core is called your core for a reason. Go easy on yourself.
6. Those drugs are your best friend. Give yourself some time to wean off the heavy stuff. Stock up on Aleve, which you’ll also need daily, and be prepared to use it A LOT.
7. I’m getting really real here now: Get some Colace. Your first bowel movement will hurt that much more since you have no stomach muscles with which to push. But man, will you be proud when you walk out of that bathroom.
8. You can’t lift anything because of how it can affect your core, and you can’t really lean over to even empty the dishwasher. Basically, best case scenario is that you’re an immobile, milk-producing machine with a baby attached to your breast sideways cause you’re scared he or she will kick the scar.
9. Don’t worry. No matter how your child is born, it’ll still likely be the best thing that ever happens to you, you tired shell of your former self.

Last year at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West debuted the music video for his then- new song, “Fade“, starring our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum, Teyana Taylor.
Today, the 2017 MTV VMA nominations came out and to no surprise Taylor and her choreography team were nominated for Best Video Choreography!
I am rooting for her flash dance inspired video and moves, and her banging post-baby body to match.

In the video for Fade, outfitted in a “Flashdance” -esqe work out gear, super cropped underboob-revealing tank, high cut workout undies and knee pads, Taylor performed some pretty wickedly fierce dance moves inside an empty gym.
Yes, this is the same woman who gave birth one week and who looked like this a week later and then 6 months later this:
Just her, dripping with hotness. The artists that perform on the record Yeezy, Ty Dolla $ign and Post Malone are nowhere to be seen. Um, not that anyone needed them.
The rhythmic gyrations and phenomenal choreography ended with some steamy NSFW scenes with her husband Cleveland Cavalier‘s Iman Shumpter in the shower. For those who don’t know, Taylor, is also well known among mainstream audiences for her 2007 my My Super Sweet Sixteen party which aired on MTV. And her fiance is the same dude who helped Taylor deliver their daughter in the bathtub.
The final scene ends with a close up of Taylor, only with her face looking like a puma, and she has a tail. She’s on Shumpter’s back and their daughter Iman Jr is close nearby with some sheep surrounding them all. Odd. I know. Watch the video here on Digg (if it hasn’t been taken down).

The 2017 BET Awards went down at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. I confess that I only got a chance to catch the end as I was heading to the beach to celebrate my eldest kid’s birthday and didn’t settle in to our suite until the show was well into its fourth and final hour! But I must say, that I thorougly enjoyed the singing chops of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Tamar Braxton who did an excellent job performing her new song, “My Man” on stage.
Tameka Tiny Cottles Harris, LaTocha and Tamika Scott and Kandi Burruss of 1990s girl group Xscape reuniting soon for a tour
Sadly, I missed a couple of our other bumpwatch alums, Kandi Buruss and Tameka “Tiny” Harris perform with their 1990s R&B girl group, Xscape.
The duo joined fellow members LaTocha Scott and Tamika Scott in a medley of their hits on stage since breaking up as a group 18 years ago. It was the first of two explosive 90s R&B performances. The New Edition tribute and performances later blew me away!
Xscape will document their work as they prepare to perform at the 2017 Essence Festival. The docuseries, titled Xscape: Still Kickin’ It, premieres this fall on Bravo.

And platinum blonde, in general, had a big showing on Tiny’s daughter Zonnique, who is also a recording-artist. She wore her hair in that shade as did Lateysha Grace, a German transplant who has been on three seasons of MTV show The Valleys.

It was also cool to see so many parents bring their children to the show. DJ Khaled actually brought his son Asahad on stage with him during his performance. It reminded me of all the NBA babies at their dads’ games.
Jamie Foxx had his daughter Annalise help him present on stage and Future got his daughter Londyn a matching bedazzled mask to wear in honor of his popular new single “Mask Off” which he later performed that night with a cameo from Kenderick Lamar. Another big winner was Chance the Rapper whose mom accompanied him to the show.
Speaking of Winners. Beyonce was a BIG winner taking home the most awards for Best Female R&B Performer, Viewers’ Choice, Video of the Year for her song “Sorry” (which tied with Bruno Mars) and is off her album Lemonade, which one for Album of the Year. The director for “Sorry” won the for Best Director.
Her sister Solange took home the Centric Award for her song “Cranes in the Sky” which also earned the star her first Grammy award earlier in the year. Besides Solange, we spotted a few of our other Bumpwatch alums at the event including Keyshia Cole.

Speaking of Blac Chyna and Amber Rose. The two of them once famously attended back to back awards shows in 2015 hand in hand but last night came with other people, Chyna with other people.

When my baby sister Hawa Jay, one of our blog reviewers and Bellyitch 100 guide model, decided to head to Las Vegas for a Bachelorette Weekend, I accepted the invitation to tag along the girls’ trip to check out some of the destination’s famous amenities and attractions.
Although Las Vegas, Nevada is more well known as “Sin City”, it is also a very family-friendly destination and ranks as a top destination for families in several guides. We’ve listed it tops in a few Bellyitch Blog posts in the past.
Vegas has a lot of family-oriented hotels like Circus, Circus, for example, which features an amusement park, on site Krispy Kreme and popular chain fast food spots right inside.
It’s also a good baby moon destination because there are lots of vice and smoke-free options in the very active city as well.
There’s the High Roller ferris wheel at The LINQ Promenade which rotates slowly to give you a marvelous 360 view of the city from inside a large cabin, some fully stocked with drinks and food. The Eiffel Tower Experience at Paris Las VONS is fun as is The Wildlife Habitat Flamingo which opens daily from dawn to dusk and has daily Pelican feedings.
There are also destination hotels that are on the upscale side as well. The Red Rock Casino and Spa, for example, is nestled in historic Red Rock Canyon, famously known for its native American Nevadan reservations.
The resort is an oasis, equally luxurious as any 5-star hotel you’d find on the strip.
It is perfect for families with children because you can also find on property a bowling alley, a movie theater, an arcade and other smoke-free kid-friendly options.
But for mom and dad who want to indulge in slot play or poker, there’s a casino in the lobby – the best of both worlds.
In a very saturated hotel market, each need to stand out in its own way.
The Red Rock accomplishes this feat with its completely red-tinted glass entry way, an ode to the crimson shade in its name.
From the inside, you wouldn’t know if it was light or dark, rainy or clear outside. That’s a good thing if you’re looking to get lost in paradise.
The color scheme for the furnishings in the lobby and the large center lounge area surrounded by semi-circle staircase is made up of hues of red and complementary colors. The hotel has several bars, a sports bar, a bowling alley, live entertainment facilities, a pool bar and lobby bar.
It’s surprisingly more modern than I would think for an off-the beaten path location but nothing about the resort can remotely be acquainted with shabby. It gives me a vintage updated 1960s spy movie vibe.
The spot is also a destination for conferences because it has large conference rooms on the third floor with a very comprehensive shipping and business section for their corporate-type guests.
I made my way through the lobby and headed upstairs to the spa for my facial appointment with Ro at The Spa at Red Rock by Well & Being.
A very friendly spa associate greeted me at the door and pointed me in the direction of the check in. I was running a bit late but they didn’t make me feel bad for arriving a little after my scheduled 11:00 am appointment.
Another attendant took me back to a locker room area lit with soft lighting. I felt relaxed immediately as I took in the scent of lavender and peppermint oil waffling through the room. Aaah!
After a long flight into Vegas the day before, and a very very long day of activities and adjusting to the time zone change, a relaxing facial was what I needed.
The attendant showed me how to operate the personal lockers and set my personalized code, standard for day spas; and after slipping out of my street clothes and into one the plush white spa robes and comfy slippers the spa provides, I was ready for ultimate relaxation.
Before Ro could collect me, I peeked around the corner to check out a brightly lit styling and dressing area.
It was equipped with individual seated stations with soft ottoman benches, a large lit mirror, equipped with a hairdryer, brush and other hot hair styling equipment for customer use.
On the other side was styling mirror along the wall and a stand up vanity area.
The room was divided by a display of the assorted branded products for spa guests to use: hair gel, make up remover, deodorant, hair spray, mouse, cotton bolls and cotton swabs.
When it was time for me to head back, a very friendly and personable Ro emerged and guided me down the hallway where I noticed a supply station fully stocked with personal feminine products, shower caps, towels and more. Everything you’d need so you can come as you are and be very well taken care of. Loved that!
To get to my room for my facial, we also walked through an area with a hot tub on the left and what looked like a large whirl pool to the right and another seating area with snacks and water.
It was lined with fragrant scented candles on a mirrored shelf above.
A lot of day spas on the east coast have the showers like they have at the Spa at Red Rock but not the pools and hot springs tubs. Those features set it apart already from a lot of the traditional day spas I have patronized.
And I’ve been in quite a few on both coasts of the nation, in Europe and the Caribbean.
Just outside the door to the services room was a serene waiting area with a tea and coffee station.
A tray of spa-branded water was nestled on the center ottoman, which also was lined with magazines to pass the time while waiting to be called.
Ro did an excellent job. She asked me if I had any issues I was worried about and wanted to work out, then instructed me to ditch the robe and snuggle under the massage bed.
She started by explaining to me the results of her quick skin examination. The results: I have T-zone oily combination skin.
We started with a gentle exfoliation using one of those machine brushes for scrubbing away dead skin and polishing off external residue. Ro followed up with a nice hot steam and then the painful but good part, white head extraction.
In between, I was treated with a gentle and much appreciated neck and shoulder massage. My hands had been heavily moisturized and placed in a plastic mitt. Ro removed the mitts and gave me a hand and arm massage, before completing the facial treatment and applying sunscreen to my lips.
When done, she gave back my robe which was kept warm for me during my services. What a great touch because who wants to leave that experience and have a draft hit you in your face? A heated robe was right on time.
It was a very indulgent and comprehensive treatment and I would say worth the $160 value of the service. It is comparable to the prices at spas at The Strip hotels but unlike those hotels, when you leave to return to your room, you’re not thrown back into the very loud and obnoxious sounds of strip life.
You’re still secluded away from the hustle and bustle and noise.
If you’re in town for a conference, or considering it for a baby moon or a family get away, the Red Rock Canyon location gives you the access to the active Strip but with the serenity of being isolated slightly in the majestic mountain
Your experience will be further enhanced by the spectacular lavish treatment you’ll get from the professionals at The Spa at Red Rock by Well & Being. I highly recommend you add it to your itinerary and get fit in for a facial with Ro or one of the other wonderful professionals there. You’ll be glad you did.

We guessed because Beyonce had a Push Party that she was due pretty soon to start pushing. Now, we’re thinking bout the fact that tennis champ Serena Williams had a bridal shower three weeks ago that she will marry her fiance Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian sooner than later.
This means before baby arrives later in the year.
And she, like a lot of celebs, are cool with being low key and keeping their plans out of the public until they happen. We only saw pics of the two-day bridal shower held at Miami, Florida’s 1 Hotel and Homes South Beach. and its Bamford Haybarn Spa after the event in PEOPLE magazine exclusive pics.
Apparently, according to reports, after checking in, the next day the bride-to-be, her sisters Venus, Lyn and Isha, mom Oracene and her pals did some yoga and meditation on the rooftop pool deck, followed by foot massages in an air-conditioned poolside cabana then a romp on a private yacht around the city.
My sis had her shower three weeks before her nuptials so I’m going to put in my bet at a June surprise wedding before her belly gets too large to fit into the type of dress Serena wants to wear for her nuptials! Let’s see if we are correct.
Serena Williams took to Instagram this weekend to share some lovely photos of herself sunbathing on a yacht. The first-time expectant Tennis Champ and her fiance Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian are expecting their first child this year.
Williams made the announcement accidentally on Snapchat while chronicling her fourth month of pregnancy. Since the secret’s been out, she the 26-time Grand Slam Serena Williams champ has been open sharing bump progression photos on Instagram.
Last weekend, she gathered 20 of her close family and friends including sisters Venus, Lyn and Isha and mom Oracene for a “magical” bridal shower at 1Hotel & Homes South Beach in Miami, Florida.
“Serena is one of my best friends, so a lot of love and thought went into planning the magical detail-oriented bridal shower weekend,” event planner Val Vogt of The VLV Group revealed to ET. “There were constant surprises; from a painting party to unique bridal shower games to having a live fashion illustrator on the yacht.”
This makes us think the wedding will come before baby is born.

Congrats to reality Tv star alum Natalie Nunn of Oxygen channel’s Bad Girls Club on the birth of her first child, a baby girl.
Nunn announced the arrival of her and husband Jacob Payne‘s little one on Twitter.
“Baby Payne is here,” Natalie captioned a photo. “I never thought I could love anyone so much,” the new mom added. “Blessed.”
Before the birth, the Hair Battle Spectacular star kept her followers and fans up to date by sharing photos from the Labor and delivery room.
“Thank you for this contraction, Lord,” Nunn captioned a black and white photo of herself going through labor. “I welcome it and know that I am one step closer to meeting my baby! I give this contraction permission to accomplish its task and I trust in my God-given instinct to birth normally and naturally, and I thank you for guiding and directing me during this process. My husband and I can’t wait to meet her! Dialated to 8 centimeters.”
