Celeb-inspired Easter Dress Style Ideas

If you are currently preggers and planning what to wear to church this Easter, here are some Throwback  pics of celebrities who looked fashionable and delightful in dresses that would be suitable for Easter Service, an Easter Egg Roll or an Easter Brunch

Go casual in a flowy maxi dress under a denim jacket like Kristin Cavallari did during her first pregnancy with son Camden jack two years ago or a billowy-sleeved Bohemian top under cropped pants like what  Korean actress Kim Hee-sun wore during a GAP maternity campaign in 2009. Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie also dressed up and down the maxi dress and you can too.

If you’re looking to look more formal, go with bold and pastel colors or cream mid-length dresses like how Kate Hudson, Christina Applegate,  Jolie, Gwen Stefani and Reese Witherspoon during their respective last pregnancy.
Happy Easter!

The Top 10 Most “Googled” Celebrity Kids

Bellyitch Rewind

BuzzFeed has a quiz article out that asks which recently born or currently incubating celebrity baby will “reign supreme” in the future and be the “it” children that will be the most popular and most followed.
When you first see the headline, one may be inclined to roll  one’s eyes and question why we have become a society that obsesses with children of celebrities.
But given that Bellyitch Blog since 2007 has covered and follows celebrity pregnancies, we must say that we have noticed that indeed there are certain celebrity off springs that get more attention than others.
Consider the fact that there are several websites like this and this one dedicated to Suri Cruise‘s fashion. And the offspring of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise is keeping food on people’s table. The author of a satirical website, Suri’s Burn Book, was able to parlay her popular snarky Tumblr blog about the tot to tween into a lucrative book deal.
Before Prince George even turned, he was already the star of  the What Prince George Wore blog.  Many people are also obsessed of how Blue Ivy and North West are wearing their hair and being dressed by their duo famous parents, Beyonce and Jay Z; and Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
Perhaps because their parents are popular, or they get the most paparazzi following them around or simply editors at magazines keep greenlighting articles about them, there are definitely more popular celeb kids.
From our unscientific and independent survey of various articles, stories and Google images that crop up under the subject “celebrity kid”, we’ve noticed that the top 10, who have the most images, include:

1. Suri Cruise (Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise)

2. Blue Ivy  (Beyonce Knowles and Shawn Jay Z Carter)

Harper and Victoria Beckham

3. Prince George (Kate Middleton and Prince William)

4. Nahla Aubry (Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry)

5. North West (Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West)

6. Kingston Rossdale (Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale)

7. Mason Disick (Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick)

8. Skylar Berman (Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman)

9. Zahra Jolie-Pitt (Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt)

10. Harper Beckhan (Victoria Beckham and David Beckham)

What do you think? Who are the most popular celeb kids in your book? Do you think we obsess too much over celebrity children.

8 Home Decor Celeb Style Tips on a shoestring budget

Bellyitch Rewind

What sets a celebrity’s home apart? Is it the millions of dollars worth of stuff that they contain? No, it is simply the execution of a plan, meticulous detail and a whole load of imagination. Your home too could look like that of a celebrity, and what’s more, it won’t cost you the world!
Here are 8 tips for updating your home, celeb style!
1) Let’s talk theme: A little known fact is that most celebrities have a common theme running throughout their home. That theme could be the Wild West, as in Mel Gibson’s ranch or lilac and peach, in Halle Berry’s Paris flat. Either way, the benefit of a theme is dual fold, one it is easier to know what kind of home furnishing, accessories and general home decor pieces to go with. And secondly it keeps cost down. How so? Read on…
2) Elegant yet inexpensive: Many celebrities are fixated on a particular color, texture or print. Do the same, when painting your walls, use subtle variants of the same shade to bring about the semblance of a theme throughout the home. One trick to break from the monotony is combining artifacts with the wall paint to create a signature space.
3) Go antique: Remember, vintage never goes out of fashion. To give your home a serious face lift, invest in antiques. Now we don’t mean you break the bank pursuing a statue or painting at auction, we simply mean visit websites for online home accessories. Most such websites have home decoration pieces that look antiquated, but are relatively inexpensive.
4) In the bathroom: Go looking for faucets and fixtures that are vintage. Unlike accessories, you could find these old fixtures rather cheaply at a plumbing supplies store. Make sure they are in a good condition, and aren’t rusted or weathered in any way.
5) Get online for great pieces of art: If you’d like to hang a renowned artwork like the Mona Lisa on your walls, there is a way to do it, for absolutely free. Download a high resolution image of the art from the internet, print it out, and frame it. There, a world famous art work and it didn’t cost you a thing!
6) Make your bath, your Nirvana room: Your bathroom, either big or small can be your oasis of serenity in the maddening world you live in. Invest in small pieces of art work like a Buddha statue, votive scented candles and incense, to make your bathroom, a tranquil oasis of peace, not unlike many celebrities.
7) Fill your bookshelves with rare tomes: If you have a study in your home, ensure that you have some rare books in them. Make the room a regal one where you can escape and enjoy reading a rare book. A coffee table, a nice lush carpet and a curio or two, and you’re sorted.
8) Reupholster/Reuse/Recycle: If you have an old couch, bring it up to speed with a reupholstering, instead of purchasing a new one. Reuse some of your tees, once you’ve sewn them together as pillowcases or comforters. Recycle old milk bottles and tinted beer bottles as ashtrays or flower vases. Put your own unique spin on things. In truth that’s what makes a celeb’s home stand out.

2014 Primetime Emmy Awards Red Carpet: Celebrity Moms glam it up

The stars were out last night at the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards held at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on August 25, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.
We were on the look out for some of the celebrity moms and moms-to-be that we’ve featured on the blog before and certainly they did not disappoint:
Kerry Washington rocked  an orange Prada dress with intricate crystals embroidered within with matching Prada clutch and fab Fred Leighton jewels.  Washington, who had her first child earlier this year, was nominated for an Outstanding actress award for her role on ABC‘s Scandal.
Giuliana Rancic went old Hollywood glam in this stately crimson Gustavo Cadile dress, worn with Christian Louboutin heels and Forevermark diamonds jewels.
Gwen Stefani did not walk the red carpet, still was shimmering in the halls in a silver Atelier Versace Fall 2014 top and long skirt with metallic ornaments at the neckline. Very rock and roll and futuristic, yes?
Nashville star and mom-to-be Hayden Panettiere was radiant and glowing in a floor length Lorena Sarbu  gown from her Fall 2014 collection, accented with Fred Leighton earrings and a dainty diamond bracelet, set off with nude make up and a diamond encrusted headband. Gorgeous!
Halle Berry  also skipped the early arrivals red carpet even though she presented the last award for the night. She looked stunning as usual in this high-slit flowing feminine Elie Saab gown, posing  in the press toom. Very nice!
Love Love Brazillian model Camila Alves in my fave North African designer Zuhair Murad gown from his 2014 Resort collection. Beautiful with this white Aldo clutch and a pair of Brian Atwood ‘Hamper’ heels to finish off the perfect look. Her Oscar-winning hubby Matthew McConaughey  was a top nominee last night for his role in HBO’s True Detective.

Saucy! Is one word to describe Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara who stunned in a body hugging Roberto Cavalli dress, while dripping in Lorraine Schwartz  jewels. Fab! Her show tied Fraisier with its 5 consecutive comedy show Emmy wins.

Pleasantly surprised to see Heidi Klum tame her usual over-the-topness this year as she graced the red carpet in Zac Posen resort 2015 dress, accessorized with a Jimmy Choo ‘Tube’ clutch with matching Jimmy Choo ‘Xenia’ sandals and and accented with delicate Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Love the deep waves. The Project Runway  creator did well tonight.
Claire Danes went for the pop of color in Givenchy from the designer’s Fall 2014 collection. She wore Lorraine Schwartz pieces to complete the look. Very pretty and feminine. The star is a multi-Emmy winner for her role on Showtime’s Homeland and was nominated last night as well.
Hardly recognized this super svelte Julianna Margulies in this sleek Narcisco Rodgriguez gown and leather clutch. We heard FD Gallery set her up with a 13.26 carat old mine cut diamond earrings and a 7 carat rose cut Hemmerle ring. Wowza! Love the up swept do and the black headband. Simple. Classic.  Margulies won last night the Outstanding Actress award for her role on the hit NBC drama The Good Wife.  Congrats!
How cute was Julia Roberts in a playful and youthful  Elie Saab Fall 2014 Couture mini dress with its bold beading and sexy plunging neckline? Roberts won big tonight, having many nominations and an Emmy for her role in The Normal Heart.  Loving the peep-toe pumps by Christian Louboutin. She accented the look with Irene Neuwirth jewels. Winning!
Nominated for her role in Return to Zero Lifetime mini-series, Minnie Driver was outfitted in the designs of another bumpwatch alum Marchesa. Very cute look pulled off with  Stuart Weitzman shoes,  Fred Leighton jewels and a Rauwolf clutch. Loved her since Good Will Hunting!
Padma Lakshmi  was fierce in a Ralph Rucci couture gown. The Top Chef award-winning show host donned a pair of classic Manolo Blahnik heels and also went with Fred Leighton ring and earrings, and a Judith Leiber bag. Marvelous!
One of our original features on celeb moms of twins included this gorgeous woman  Angela Bassett, nominated for her Outstanding actress for her role on the mini-series  American Horror Story was fab in this Grecian wrap Elisabetta Franchi dress, accented with an Oroton”Freize” clutch.
These moms were really bringing the sexy tonight!

Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums and their spouses who were Sex Addicts

The American Association for Family and Marriage estimate that between 12 and 14 million Americans have a sex addiction.
Some of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch and adoptive moms have been on the other end of the addiction, married to men who claimed an insatiable appetite or obsession with sex ruined their relationships.
Most recently, Tori Spelling’s dilemma with her sex addicted husband Dean McDermott has been playing itself out on a Lifetime television reality series. Others like Tea Leoni who was married to addict David Duchovny; Katherine Zeta Jones, married to former sex-addict Michael Douglass and Angelina Jolie, whose ex Billy Bob Thornton, admitted to be an addict, have kept it out of the limelight.
Some, like Sandra Bullock, couldn’t help it but the media made her hubby Jessie James’ sex-addicted cheating ways very public and tabloid fodder. Halle Berry‘s ex husband Eric Benet was widely reported to be an addict too. Benet later retracted the claim. Similarly, Tiger Woods also claimed an addiction for the reason he cheated on his wife and even went to rehab for it.
Charlie Sheen is infamously linked to admittedly cheating on his exes including Denise Richards, partially because of a sex addiction.
Kanye West has admitted to being a sex addict and says it is was fuels his success. Wonder how Kim Kardashian, the mom of his daughter Nori, is coping.
While the condition is a legitimate ailment, it is often questioned and presumed to be an excuse for a guy who cannot or will not stay faithful.

Idris Elba & Eric Benet: Celebrity men who’ve shared photos of their breastfeeding partners in social media

First Eric Benet in 2012 and now Idris Elba in 2014.

In April, Elba welcomed his first child with partner makeup artist Naiyana Garth and last Saturday, he posted a photo on his Twitter account of little Winston innocently flipping the bird while breastfeeding with the hilarious caption, “I’ve been drinking, I’ve been drinking…Drunk in Milk” as a parody to a lyric in Beyonce‘s song “Drunk in Love” off her last self-titled album.
Funny stuff!
A couple years prior, in January 2012,singer Eric Benet (Halle Berry‘s ex-husband) also shared a photo (which has since been deleted) of his wife Manuela Testloni on Instagram also nursing their daughter Lucia  while she was unknowingly holding up the universal sign for peace.
Both celebrity men shared the photo because they found amusement in the finger gesture their respective babies’ were holding up when they snapped the pic, not knowing, perhaps or thinking in doing so, they would be de facto advocates for breastfeeding.
In fact, back in 2012,  Eric’s share sparked a bunch of controversy, online discussion and some public shaming of public breast exposure during breastfeeding. If it’s taboo when its seen in the general public, it’s become doubly taboo when shown in social media for many more to see. It’s a topic which we’ve seen come alive again recently when last March 2013, a famous athlete’s model girlfriend did the same thing and was virtually shamed off the web, accused of doing it out of pure vanity, not for the purpose of promoting nursing.
It looks like we may have evolved since 2012 and/or the vocal opponents to such natural images are realizing to keep their trap shut and deal with it and/or the image got buried in all the other news items that have been dominating our minds and news feeds.
Anyhooo. All are sweet and endearing and we encourage more of this type of sharing by celebs to help destigmatize public breastfeeding.
Kudos Idris and Winston (and mama Naiyana, of course)!
Winston is Elba’s second child; he has a daughter, Isan, from a previous marriage to Dormowa Sherma.

National Infertility Awareness Week: 10 Myths About Pregnancy in Your 40s

We are acknowledging National Infertility Awareness Week and doing our part to share news, articles, information, products and services about infertility for our audience’s edification.
Next up:
Heidi Hayes of Donor Egg Bank USA shares her personal journey with infertility and debunks myths about pursuing later motherhood.

Like many other young women, she had thoughts of motherhood in the back of her mind. But then she went off to college, and after that joined the Peace Corps. She ended up working in the Ecuadorian Andes. It was in Ecuador that she began thinking seriously about motherhood. “I loved the Ecuadorian focus on family,” she says. “It made me start thinking about having children of my own.”

After marrying the man of her dreams, they started to build a life together. Finally, it seemed to be the right time to start a family. “I thought I would get pregnant easily, but each month nothing happened.” She went to see a specialist, and she and her husband began a heartbreaking four-year journey through a maze of infertility treatments before adopting. Years later, she used donor eggs to have twins.

She didn’t consider freezing her eggs, as that wasn’t available at the time.

She went the donor egg route to conceive and shares some of the 10 myths about pregnancy in your 40s:
1.     Pregnancy is easy in your 40s and happens all the time. Once you hit 40, there is only a five percent chance you will get pregnant in any given month (compared to 20 percent at age 30). Pregnancy is possible, but women need to know the most valuable and irreversible factor impacting success is time. This is largely due to a steady decline in egg quality that begins when a woman is in her early 30s and then accelerates in the late 30s.
2.     Fertility issues are always with the woman. For men and women in their 20s, there is an equal chance of problems with infertility in either partner. For couples with a female partner in her late 30s or 40s, the chance of infertility due to egg quality rises dramatically.
3.     Celeb moms make it look easy. They are having kids at age 46! There is an endless stream of celebrity mothers who are having kids in their 40s. Halle Berry had her baby at 46, Kelly Preston at 47, and Geena Davis had twins at 48. While it is statistically unlikely that some older celebrities are having children without any assistance, it is important not to compare your experiences to others. Some celebrities share their experiences with infertility, but most do not.
4.     You can only have a baby using your own eggs. According to the respected medical journal, Fertility and Sterility, 40-year-old women treated for infertility have a 25 percent chance of achieving pregnancy using their own eggs. By age 43 that number drops to 10 percent, and by 44 it becomes 1.6 percent. For those who are unable to use their own eggs, the good news is that women can achieve pregnancy success using donor eggs regardless of her age.  Women at 40 using donor egg give birth at a rate of roughly 45 percent, a success rate higher than younger women using their own eggs. The high success rate for recipients using egg donation does not decline with age.
5.     The age of a man doesn’t matter when trying to conceive. Age matters for both men and women. A study in Nature found a direct link between paternal age and an increased risk of Autism and Schizophrenia, which experts say may be one of the factors in the rise of autism diagnosis in recent years. The increase in medical problems with advancing male age is very small; the autism increase may be from 1 in 150 in the general population to 1 in 100 for men over 50.  As women age, the chances of chromosomal abnormalities such as Down Syndrome increase. These abnormalities typically occur due to a decrease in the quality of the egg with aging.  A 25-year-old woman has a 1/1000 chance of having a baby with Down Syndrome. The chance is 1/30 in a 44-year-old using her own eggs.
6.     If you’re healthy, fit, and look great, having a baby won’t be a problem. You do yoga, run half marathons, eat organic and fit into a size six. But do your ovaries do yoga? The truth is that eating nutritiously and maintaining a healthy weight can boost fertility and help balance ovulatory disorders, but it does not affect your ovarian supply and the health of your eggs.
7.     If I’m starting menopause, I can’t have a baby. There is about a 10-year phase of perimenopause that precedes the complete cessation of menstrual function, known as menopause. The quality of a woman’s eggs during this time is significantly reduced and the chances of conceiving decline sharply.  The chance of a miscarriage, for those who do conceive, is significantly increased. For women beginning perimenopause, which includes the months or years preceding menopause, a pregnancy may still be possible. A pregnancy will depend on where your body is at in the perimenopausal process. To increase the chances of success and save time, both parties should undergo basic fertility testing.
8.     Older mothers are less likely to have twins. Surprisingly, older mothers have a higher likelihood of conceiving twins. As a woman ages, her follicle stimulating hormone increases. FSH develops eggs inside the ovaries prior to being released into the fallopian tubes. High FSH levels can cause two or more eggs to release, which can result in twins.
The likelihood of spontaneously conceived twins rises from 1/80 in a 25-year-old to 1/40 in a 42-year-old.  Higher FSH levels are also associated with declining fertility, which means follicles may work overtime and release more eggs to compensate for lowering fertility. Twin rates have also increased due to general fertility and IVF treatment and patients choosing to transfer multiple embryos. The latest data shows that twin rates are declining as many women choose to transfer one embryo.
9.     Your family has a fertile history, so you shouldn’t have any trouble. There is a genetic component to ovarian function and a correlation between your mother’s and grandmother’s ability to conceive at an older age. However, this is a very limited factor and cannot provide significant reassurance. Conversely, if there is a history of early menopause in your family this will raise the likelihood of a problem. Your fertility potential and egg supply is individual. If your grandmother had her last baby at 43 and your mother had infertility at 41, this does not make your chances of conception any higher or lower.
10. Having a baby with donor egg doesn’t make you the biological mom. The egg donor is a genetic donor who provides the egg cell and half of the DNA in the creation of each baby, but the woman who carries the pregnancy provides the biological environment to allow the embryo and baby to thrive. The woman who intends to parent is the true mother of the child.   Motherhood is a conscious choice, regardless of how a baby is conceived or born.
Author Bio: Heidi Hayes is a mother of three through adoption and donor egg. After her personal experiences with infertility and professional experience in the infertility industry, she now helps others achieve their dreams of having a family as the CEO of Donor Egg Bank USA, a national frozen donor egg bank.
