williams aryn drake-lee

Congratulations to Grey’s Anatomy star and outspoken social rights advocate Jesse Williams and his wife Aryn Drake-Lee on the birth of their second child, US Weekly reports.

The extremely private couple managed to keep most of the pregnancy under wraps and even the birth. They welcomed a son, Maceo, two months ago!

The couple, who wed in Los Angeles in 2012 after dating for 5-years, have an almost 2-year old daughter named Sadie.

Drake-Lee is a real estate agent and the two met when Williams was a school teacher in New York City.

We peeped a photo of their daughter on another site and she is a cutie pie!

Congrats to the beautiful couple! We’re sure Maceo is equally adorbs!

Trend: Thrifting & Upcycling, Here’s Your Complete Guide

thrifting and upcyling

Saving money is trendy, believe it or not and so is Thrifting! When thrifting for larger items that you may fix up, polish, reupholster and DIY (Do-It-Yourself) into a new masterpiece, it’s called Upcycling!

Rare finds like vintage armoires and antique dressers are among the best pieces of furniture to repurpose, collect, or display in your home. But even ordinary used furniture and housewares can be transformed into unique and functional pieces! Collecting and repurposing furniture and household items is all the rage right now. Images of refurbished and made-over salvaged pieces can be seen splattered all over Pinterest and Facebook.

Since part of an upcycler’s job is turning trash into treasure, it’s important to learn the ins and outs of thrift shopping. If you are new to this, knowing where to begin can be tough. This guide helps you learn what to look for while thrift shopping, where to go, thrift shopping etiquette, and money-saving tips for garage sales and estate sale shopping. It also includes suggestions on what types of housewares are easiest to upcycle, and types of furniture that are best for beginners to refurbish or make over.

Do Your Research

Start by conducting some online research. A great source for finding estate sales in your area is Estatesales.net. This site offers photos, maps, and directions, and you can search by city or county. Other sources are your local PennySaver magazine and Craigslist. Craigslist has a section for local garage sales, and under “for sale” there is a section called “free.” You can find real-time curb alerts in your area. You can also download a Craigslist app to your phone to make treasure hunting easier.

To find the best places to go, ask your friends and join social media groups. Goodwill, for example, has a vast selection of housewares available most of the time.

What to Bring

Preparation is key when thrift shopping. Keep a small bag in your car for planned and unplanned shopping trips. Here are a few things you should keep inside this thrift shopping emergency kit.

A Thrifter's Emergency Kit

Source: Fix.com

Tote Bags: Many estate sales and garage sales do not provide bags. Keep a few neatly folded in your emergency shopping kit.

Newspaper: Newspaper or scrap packing paper comes in handy for delicate items.

Measuring Tape: Keep a small tape measure to ensure accuracy when shopping for large items.

Screwdriver: For large items that may need to be disassembled to fit in your car.

Cash: You shouldn’t necessarily keep a wad of hundreds in your emergency kit, but keep in mind that most estate, garage, and yard sales will be cash-only.

Wish Lists: It’s important to remember your needs versus your wants. It’s never a good idea to shop frivolously. Even if you are getting a good deal, it’s good to know when to say no. Keep two lists – what you need and what you want – to prevent overspending.

List of Measurements:This is handy if you are furniture shopping. If you are looking for the perfect chair for your living room, for example, make sure you know the dimensions you need. This way, you’ll be certain your new piece will fit perfectly.

Before heading out to find the perfect coffee table to paint or armchair to reupholster, be sure to measure your room. Measure its length and width, as well as any relevant wall space. Consider doors, windows, fireplaces, and existing furniture. It helps to make a rough sketch of your room and placement of your furniture. Don’t worry – it doesn’t have to be to exact scale, but this way you’ll have a better idea of what fits before making an ill-fitting purchase you may regret.

Thrift Shopping Etiquette

Now that you are armed and dangerous, thrift shopping etiquette should not be overlooked. Here are a few helpful hints to keep in mind. Estate sale shopping is a little different than thrift store shopping. There are two schools of thought when it comes to upcycling at estate sales. You can get there early and be the first person there, or wait and go at the very end. Getting there early is good because you will have the most selection. However, if you wait until the end you have the most negotiating power. If you are just browsing, you may benefit from waiting until the end and finding an awesome deal, but if you have a specific item in mind, your best bet is to get there first.

Next, be sure to shop with heightened sensitivity. Estate sales are often conducted by someone who has lost someone that they love; the items on sale have meaning to the seller. Finally, have fun and be patient. It may take a few estate sales to get used to the process.

Money-Saving Tips

Just because you are “thrift” shopping, doesn’t mean you are always getting the best deal. Use your smartphone to compare prices to equivalent and newer items that are similar. Second, be aware of sales. You can call ahead to your local thrift or donation stores to find out about upcoming sales. For example, Goodwill stores have a special “colored tag of the day.” Look for the colored tag and get 50 percent off. Third, if you see a chip or other blemish you can easily repair, don’t be afraid to respectfully ask a thrift store clerk for a discount. Nine out of ten times they will give it to you! Finally, be nice. Try not to play too much hardball when negotiating at yard sales and garage sales, especially if it’s early in the day. It won’t be well received. Simply ask, “Can you tell me your best price for this?”

What to Look For

Estate sales, garage sales, and thrift stores are great places to get inspiration and find your next DIY project. With a little preparation, knowledge, and fortitude, you can find hidden gems and turn someone else’s trash into treasure. But for beginner upcyclers, perusing cluttered shelves and tables can be overwhelming.

Sturdy glass vases, containers, baskets, and wooden bowls can be easily painted, frosted, wrapped, decoupaged, or embellished. They can be used not only for flowers or fruit, but for storage, organization, and gift wrapping as well. Mirrors and frames can easily be transformed and repurposed as well.

Upcycled Creations Before and After

Small furniture pieces like chairs, side tables, accent tables, stools, and ottomans are great pieces for newbies to make over. Examine the piece before you buy it. Make sure it can be easily taken apart and put back together. If it looks too difficult, pass on it until you are more experienced. For upholstered pieces, if it smells bad, just say no and move on. Some smells are impossible to get rid of. Also, do not pay attention to the color or fabric. It can always be changed. Rather, look for the shape, lines, and curves that interest you. Small scratches and blemishes can be easily repaired as well.

Your trash to treasure adventure can now officially begin. You know where to look, what to bring, how to act, and what to look for. Ready, set, thrift!

Celeb-Inspired Fall Boots Buying Guide for Preginistas

fall boots guide

Cute shoes are a must, and this fall is all about the stylish boot. Scrunched ankle boots or sexy knee high, being pregnant is no time to forget about stylish footwear.

Celebrities manage to look effortlessly stylish even while knocked up and certainly while rocking cut fall boots

However, when shopping for a new pair of boots think about what your feet really need during pregnancy.  Still, you don’t have to cut out style for function, altogether. Mix it up and be creative.

Think Style and function.

Pregnancy can wreak havoc on your feet. They will swell, they will hurt, they may even sweat a little more thanks to hormone changes. All of this means that you cannot grab just any boot off the shelf. There are some important things you have to look for first.

Look for stretchability. If your feet have not start swelling yet, they will soon. And if they are already swollen, they can always get worse. While you want boots that fit comfortable and will not trip you up, consider how much wider your feet could get over the rest of the pregnancy. Look for boots that are a little wider, softer, and can stretch to accommodate your swelling feet.

Go with flats whenever possible. Heels add more pressure and stress to our legs, which can be extra painful when you are already carrying extra weight on them. Choose flat boots over the heels if you can. If heels are a must for you, look at shorter wider heels that will not put as much strain on your legs.

Make sure that your boots have good arch support. This is very important when pregnant, as your feet are subject to more stress than usual. If you have trouble finding good boots with enough arch support, you can always buy add-ins that go inside of your shoes and boots.

Choose breathable, natural fabrics for boots. Leathers and other natural materials are great for helping your feet breath and not trapping moisture against your feet. This can be especially good if pregnancy hormones are making your feet sweat somewhat more than usual. Natural fabrics will help wick moisture away and prevent smells from forming.

UGG makes the perfect boots for pregnancy. The new styles add that sense of flair without sacrificing on comfort. Here are two styles that can be found at Zappos, that your feet will be sure to thank you for wearing.

A pair of great boots can add sizzle to your maternity wardrobe. Before you buy that pair of boots, make sure they will not work against you during the rest of your pregnancy.

8 Ways to Tame Your Kid’s Tech Obsession

Guest Post

TECH KIDS

by Michele Kambolis

Technology is changing childhood, with as many opinions on healthy usage as there are gadgets to distract us.

While technology holds possibilities and benefits, there are known drawbacks associated with over-usage. According to the latest release from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the average 8 to 10 year old may be in front of a screen up to eight hours a day. Teens top the list as excessive tech users, with many dedicating up to 11 hours a day to texting and other screen activity. With technology use changing so rapidly, the old rules simply no longer fit the world we live in. Parents are left wondering whether a healthy balance exists. It is important to sit down and discuss tech usage with children and teens, and try to find the right balance.

1.Talk About a Healthy Media Diet

When children understand that what we feed our mind is equally important as what we feed our body, they become more mindful about what they are consuming.  Talk to your child about what they are seeing, hearing, and doing. Ask, has this time on technology been helpful or meaningful in some way? What have they discovered or learned? Co-viewing programs and talking with your kids about the pros and cons, all the ways technology helps improve lives, or threatens your quality of life, can get them thinking about the kind of impact technology might be having.

2. Set Guidelines

Parents are all too aware of the need for technology guidelines. However, setting limits on something so pervasive in our homes can be easier said than done.  The American Academy of Pediatrics has looked closely at the issue and recently set new standards; children under 2 should have little to no screen exposure, and children and teens should have no more than 2 entertainment hours of screen time per day. That’s a far cry from the current average. Just like any house rule, be specific and consistent with your expectations, including when, where and how they should be using it.  Here’s the key: when a child understands why a rule is in place, they are far more accepting of the guideline. You’ll get further by saying, ‘I notice it’s time to power down so we can make room for family time’, rather than, ‘You need to turn off your computer now’.  As they become better critical thinkers, kids come to understand their own limits, planning a healthy tech-life balance and making wise choices.

3. Safety First

The types of activities children engage in while using technology can range from creative and educational to downright destructive. Work with your child to educate them about responsible technology use, including acceptable and safe behaviours.  And while you don’t need to spy on your child’s every move, it is important that children understand you are aware and monitoring their online safety. Get curios about what is happening on your child’s screen; children love to be regarded as experts, especially by their parents.

4. Disconnect to Connect

Disconnecting from technology gives children the kind of brain rest they need to synthesize information, become creative, explore and even connect with their sense of self.  But it’s important to work together. Disconnecting should include parents too.  Powering down all electronics at dinnertime, in the car, and when company is over is an easy standard for most. Even better, create technology free zones to promote play, creativity and connection.  Crowding out screen time with other enjoyable activities sends the message that disconnecting is not a negative thing, but rather something to look forward to.

5. Quality over Quantity

Recent studies show that active technology and screen time can actually help develop key skills; hand-eye coordination, language skills, social skills, memory and critical thinking can all improve when quality tech programs are used in moderation. Balance out social media and computer games with eBooks and educational programming; have your child choose a program that offers educational value during the first half of tech time, then leave room for them to choose something with sheer entertainment value. Keep in mind, technology should be used to enhance our knowledge, not replace real-life experiences, so link programs with meaningful conversation.

6. Technology and the Brain

There is little yet known about the impact of technology on the brain, but we do know this: technology can improve visual-spatial ability, reaction time, increase focused-attention and the ability to identify details. On the flip side, playing violent video games or watching violent television is linked to lower brain activity in regions responsible for emotions and impulse control. Some studies show that more than four hours of screen time a day is connected to anxiety and depression, low levels of physical activity and social interaction.  And lower levels of face-to-face connection means less of the kind of right-brain activity so critical to empathy development. The more technology a child engages in, the less room they have for key activities needed for brain development, like outdoor play, reading, hobbies, imaginative play and relationships.

7. The Sleep Solution

If you’re worried about the impact of technology use before bed, your instincts are well tuned. The blue light from most screens decreases melatonin levels, contributing to poor sleep and increased anxiety. Consider giving technology its own curfew, placing all gadgets on their chargers at the same time each night, and lay them to rest well away from bedrooms. As a guideline, cut out screen time at least one hour before bed. Your child will not only sleep better, they will live better.

8. Technology for Mindful Living

The most powerful tool we have for creating a healthy relationship with technology is our self-awareness. Internal cues tell us when we are distracted, disconnected or revved up from a computer game and when something on social media is making us feel ‘less than’ or inadequate.  Ask what your child is aware of when they use technology; what thoughts enter their mind, what  they are feeling, and what is happening in their body. You can even enlist technology itself; there are many apps that can aid in calming the mind, and clearing it of negative thoughts, creating mind-body balance. Smiling Mind, MindShift and The Thought Room all guide the user towards mindfulness skills and other tools for resiliency.

While our electronic universe has us working even harder to make sure our kids have everything they need, radical cultural shifts call in radical parenting attention. With small daily changes you really can create big results, cultivating a well balanced, tech aware, generation.

DWTS Alum, Model Elisabetta Canalis is having a Fabulously Fit Pregnancy (EXCLUSIVE INTVW)

Elisabetta Canalis567

When you last saw the leggy Italian beauty Elisabetta Canalis she was probably doing a pirouette with her dance partner on Season 13 of Dancing with the Stars. Too bad she didn’t make it too far in the competition, which included currently preggers Kristin Cavallari. Some have joked women were jealous that she had once dated George Clooney for a couple of years.

In any event, the actress and working model has moved up and on and these days can be seen looking fabulously preggers. She and her orthopedic surgeon husband Brian Perri are expecting their first child together.

Bellyitch nabbed an exclusive chat with the brand new Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF Italy to check in on her before she gives birth in a few weeks.

So far, she and hubby have not yet picked a baby a name and will do the unconventional thing and wait until they see her to decide.

“We have changed the name so many times” Canalis states. “My husband and I have different taste so we will decide  after looking  at her little face!”

Sounds like a plan and fortunately, from scanning her Instagram pics where she shares pregnancy with fans and followers, she looks like she is managing weight gain despite the fact she is craving “carbs and sugar.”

No one ever is lucky enough to crave something healthy like carrots and wheat grass, but Canalis is managing the cravings pretty well.

“I accept my cravings but I make compromises. If I eat cookies, tarts, cakes or pizza I cannot eat other carbs. For me, personally, I am happy this way. If you crave more pasta than other stuff, don’t eat sugar. Drink water!” she advises.

Staying healthy and fit on the Reformer in a Pilates Studio – Instagram

It may not matter anyway because Canalis stayed quite active during her first pregnancy and that’s usually a guaranteed way to drop baby weight. In IG pics she’s seen rowing and being pretty consistent and religious with Reformer Pilates, a machine we here love at Bellyitch.

She also tells us she goes to the gym twice a week, hikes, drinks plenty of fruit and veggie juicesto stay healthy, adding “I found that reducing the salt gives great benefits too!”

On handling unsolicited advice, Canalis says she takes it all in but will adhere to only certain ones, depending on the source.

” I get so much advice and I am happy to have friends who can tell me what is the best thing to do in any case,” she says. “For sure I will take the advice from friends whose children are raised to the way I want to raise mine. I had the chance to see  accomplishments and mistakes that many of my friends made  with their kids and I will use their examples.”

Friends’ stories can also pile onto existing fears and to avoid stressing over the horror stories Canalis recommends you stay away from YouTube.

She did watch “The Happiest Baby on the Block” and recommends at least one baby book though you’d have to understand Italian (or get a translated copy).

“There is a book I am reading that has been a blessing for some friends of mine, it is about understanding the difficulties that newborns generally have falling asleep and what the parents shouldn’t do! The names of the writers are Eduard Estivill and Sylvia de Bejar (Italian title Fate la nanna).”

It’s very common for children of celebrities to follow in their footsteps.  Canalis says won’t discourage her soon-to-be born daughter (who we know will be gorgeous) from going into the entertainment field.

Looking great while chilling at Manhattan Bridge in New York -Instagram

“She will have to study first then she can try to do whatever she likes,” Canalis says then jokes, “she will have 2 kinds of examples at home, mine, working in the entertainment business, and her dad’s example of doing a serious job “.

She must not be serious because, although fabulous, the life of an actress and model can be taxing.

She has no time to chill and has to get back into shape soon after giving birth.

Posing an an awesome shirt earlier in her pregnancy – Instagram

“I will start to work out and eat properly as soon as I’m be able to. I have to shoot a fashion campaign 2 months after I  deliver so…I won’t have that much time!”

Canalis has a very healthy attitude about sharing her pregnancy with her fans and followers on social media, she tell us:

Sometimes I just don’t want to bother people or my fans by saying how I don’t feel great during these 9 months for this and that…. Talking about back pain, carpal tunnel or about all the bad sides of pregnancy makes this moment only harder and…. there is always someone who feels worse than you.  I don’t even like the idea of taking sexy provocative pictures right now…But this is only about me. Demi More was stunning when she posed naked for a magazine cover during her pregnancy…. I would only look goofy trying to be like that!

Bravo! Bellissimo!

Here’s How to Connect to Your Child Using his Emotional Intelligence

emotinal intelligence

We’ve all heard of educational games that improve children’s intelligence but with new research scientists are also stating that games can also improve their emotional intelligence.

Playing games with your child is great for them. Playing is the method by which most animals learn social and physical cues which help them reach their potential within the group. Humans are no different.

Our children also learn by playing and they can learn how to express their emotions  through play.

Teaching your children that emotions are constructive and not destructive will help them on their journey to becoming well-rounded adults.

Hugging your child is one of the most clichéd ways to calm them down after they become upset or irate but you can use games to turn their mood around and save you embarrassment in a crowded shopping mall, for example.  Ask for a hug by letting your child know you are running low on hugs. This action shifts up and distracts from whatever annoyance has led to a melt down.  You can even tickle them  and see if you can get them to give you a chuckle.

Mood altering games can help pick up a child who is sad.  Here is an example of one: Start by each selecting a word that you say to your child commanding your kid to repeat after you in the same tone. Start out in a grumpy tone and then move up to a happy and cheery tone. In no time, your child will find herself repeating back in a similar way. As the game progresses start to say it in more of a happier way and they’ll follow, which will start to make your child feel happier as well.

Another great idea for a game we got from Bingosweets is to have some quiet time to recharge by sitting with an iPad or tablet and learning some interesting facts. This time taken away from physical games can help your child unwind calm after a run around and can even be used as some chill out time before bed. You can transform your nightly routine from tears and screaming to a relaxing trip to bed without any tantrums.

Implementing these strategies will help you better manage your child’s emotions for greatest positive impact.

How You Are Your Child’s Role Model

you your child's role model

Even though you may not think your child idolizes you, the reality is that she is watching your every move and mimicking your actions. From toddlers to teens, children look to their parents for guidance, as examples and more importantly, as role models.

“Children learn by observing and one of the things they spend observing the most is their parents,” says Christina Steinorth, California-based psychotherapist and author of “Cue Cards for Life: Thoughtful Tips for Better Relationships

“. “With this in mind, it’s very clear why children look up to their parents as role models.”

Understand Yourself

Serving as the role model, secretly or openly, is a huge responsibility. What your kids see, hear and experience from you, they will likely mimic, says Dr. Fran Walfish, California-based psychotherapist and author of The Self-Aware Parent: Resolving Conflict and Building a Better Bond With Your Child.

“Self-awareness is the key to becoming a better role model,” says Walfish. “Understanding yourself gives you choices and when you choose to respond in a specific way, rather than respond automatically, situations more often than not resolve themselves favorably.”

rolemodels

In fact, according to Walfish, research supports the fact that a child who was parented negatively has a high likelihood of parenting her own child in the same manner. Role models can be either positive or negative.

In order to know yourself as a parent and serve as a positive role model, Walfish recommends the following:

  • Understand how and in what ways you are similar to your parents
  • Examine yourself so as not to automatically repeat mistakes your parents made
  • Be aware of your feelings, moment to moment
  • Slow down your reactions: Reflect before speaking or taking action
  • Speed up your internal thinking process: First think “How do I feel?” and then think “How is my child feeling?”
  • Self-evaluate so that you can make good, educated choices about how to raise happy, emotionally thriving children with good self-esteem

As you learn your own parenting style and how your children observe and interpret your behavior and actions, Walfish suggests that self-awareness will bring comfort and lead to calm parenting.

Teach by Example

As your child is observing your every move, take this opportunity to model the behavior you want to see develop.

Even as young as the toddler age, parents can use their position as a role model to their advantage. “This is the best age to start teaching frustration tolerance,” says Steinorth. “If your toddler has a temper tantrum, role model patience in your response to the temper tantrum.”

For example, Steinorth suggests using calm words to express how you relate to what the toddler is feeling. Show the connection between the two of you. “If you need to run errands with your toddler and your toddler starts having a tantrum because he or she would like to go to play at the park instead, rather than showing anger and frustration over the tantrum, in a calm voice role model patience by saying something like ‘I’d like to go play, too, but I need to do some work first. Once my work is done, then we can go play,’” says Steinorth. “A phrase like this also starts the very basic teaching of work comes before play.”

As your child ages and develops maturity, your job as a role model is even more important. This is an opportunity to teach your child about sincerity, generosity, values and morals, says Steinorth.

“If you would like your children to learn about giving back, role model the behavior by volunteering with them,” she says. Bake cookies together and spend an afternoon taking them to a nursing home to share the goodies with patients. Pick a holiday and help out at a homeless shelter preparing and serving meals.

“Volunteering helps children think outside of themselves, which helps teach them empathy,” says Steinorth. “When they see that you enjoy giving to others, they will follow in your footsteps.”

Unveiling the Secret

Even though your presence heavily influences your child, she may not always be willing to admit this fact. Don’t take it personally, says Walfish. This is just a sign that your child is establishing independence from you, even though she is always observing you.

Follow These Back to School Declutter and Home Organization Tips

home organization and declutter tips

It’s the start of a new school year in my home and I’m determined to make sure we have a smooth, clutter-free and positive school year.

As an avid believer in  and the positive impact of having a decluttered and organized home, I believe having an organization system and clutter and junk free home are essential for ensuring positive energy flow and clear thought.

I highly recommend that parents use the beginning of a school year as another excuse to get organized, not just for the school routine, but the family home in general.  So even if you did Spring or New Year cleaning, use the late summer/early fall to re-organize your life and priorities as well.

Even if your kids have already gone back, you can still get started. Here are some declutter and home organization tips that I’ve put together that I hope can help get you through the year.

Orange-Nursery-Room-Decorating-Ideas1

Clean and Declutter the Kids Play, Work Rooms and Nursery.  Limit the number of toys and books in the kids room. Get rid of old broken toys. Give away old books and toys to the Salvation Army, Good Will or another family member with children younger than yours. Keep only a few of the favorite story books and the toys your child or children play with regularly. Don’t let them know you’re getting rid of the stuff they don’t even play with. They likely won’t even know it and you don’t need the headache of having them plea for you to keep it.

Infuse Calming Scents in the Home.  I’m a also a big believer in aromatheraphy and that scents guide the mood. Buy Glade or some other brand’s plugins to keep the air fresh and clean smelling. You can burn candles when you’re home or if you’re an incense type of person, those work too.  Consider using those with essential oils or scents such as chamomile, rose, vanilla and lavender. They are calming scents.

Thoroughly Clean the Room. Wash and Wipe down the walls, baseboards, windows and floors — with natural cleaners. Repair wall

holes, cracks, squeaky windows, peeling paint. A clean home is great for fostering clear thoughts and just clarity, in general.

Set up Calendar and Chore Lists. Even if you’re a stay-at-home mom, you shouldn’t be doing all of the cleaning and upkeep. Set up a chore sheet for the refrigerator for after school chores. Also, start a new family calendar for keeping up with back to school nights, upcoming field trips, sports activities and other events so everyone knows what’s going on. If you’re the family manager as mom, you shouldn’t be the only one aware of what days are soccer practice.  Sitters, your spouse and house guests should too. Also, a chore list is great for keeping up the principles of feng shui which are all about clean spaces.

Keep Toys Dedicated to ONE area of the home (or maybe two) Avoid the chaotic mind that comes when you have toys and other things sprinkled in every nook and cranny of the home. Toys should be kept only to the play room, the kids room or one area of the apartment that is quartered off and situated with a toy chest, storage bin or some place where you can quickly toss all the toys hanging out all over the house. The tough part may be to stick to this one simple rule.
When the kids are not playing with a toy, there is really no need for it to be taking up space on the kitchen table or creating a tripping hazard for you or a guest. Either you, your partner or trained kids if they are old enough should make a concerted effort to gather all errant toys and keep them in the designated area.
It seems pretty intuitive, huh?
Over time, it will become a habit or second nature and you will find toys are not strewn about as much anymore. I do this with other areas of my home and life.  All papers, books, newspapers, invoices, magazines are usually put away in our home office.  All clothes go in a hamper, closet or bedroom.  Dishes, cups and silverware discovered anywhere in the house are picked up and taken in the kitchen.
Think of this mantra:  “There is a place for Everything and Everything in its place.”

Organize the Paper Trails. Each year, families accumulate reports, information from school, permission slips and the such. It will get mixed in with bills, receipts, warranties and other paper that come into your life.
