Neo-soul singer and actress Erykah Baduwill help deliver singer Teyana Taylor‘s second child at home.
Taylor told several media entities this week the news while promoting her new project, “The Album”, which debuted on June 19th that Badu will be there to usher in Taylor and hubby Cleveland Cavalier‘s Iman Shumpert‘s newest baby into the world.
Taylor gave birth to her first child, daughter Iman Jr, on their bathroom floor with the help of dad Iman senior in 2015. The baby was crowning and arriving too fast for the couple to get Taylor to the hospital in time and had to take matters into their own hands.
We have a feeling they will be just fine this second time around.
They’re keeping it in the family. Badu is featured on the song “Low Key” on Taylor’s album which includes a remix to the chorus of Badu’s 90s hit song, “Next Lifetime.”
Badu says she was called to become a doula in 2001 after helping deliver a friend’s baby, according to a 2011 magazine interview she gave to PEOPLE magazine’s print edition
“I’ve always had a mothering nature. But I didn’t plan on becoming a doula. I just wanted to care for my family and friends,” she told the celebrity mag. “When I saw the baby, I cried. I knew what I was supposed to do with my life.”
She then read up on the job, and began offering her services for free to family and friends. She eventually became the spokeswoman for the International Center for Traditional Childbearing and later got certified with the intention to open up a chain of centers in the inner cities, the Toronto Sunreported back in 2011.
While teasing a video from a song off her upcoming album, Teyana Taylor, revealed that she is expecting her second child.
In the final scene of the video to “Wake Up Love“, (above) the entire family is laying in an oversized bed. Her 4-year old daughter Iman Junior and husband Cleveland Cavaliers Iman Shumpert hug and kiss her belly after she reveals her adorable bump hiding underneath her white tank top.
It’s an adorable tender song that also features Shumpert Senior rapping during an interlude in the R&B song.
I have a new family reality TV show to watch! Your Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum, dancer, recording artist and model Teyana Taylor and her husband Cleveland Cavalier’s Iman Shumpert‘s!

The couple redefine the contemporary notion of the modern love story. He’s from the burbs. She’s from Harlem, NY. And on the show, you get to see Taylor do her mompreneur thing while trying to make sure her daughter Iman Jr (better known as Junie) experiences all the things Taylor didn’t as a kid, like camping.
Per the show description: ” As they take on the music, sports, and fashion worlds, the success in their careers is only rivaled by their passion for one another and their daughter Junie. Teyana & Iman features plenty of red-hot moments, playful humor, and a 360-degree view of true #RelationshipGoals.”
Teyana Taylor and her fiance Cleveland Cavalier guard Iman Shumpert welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Imani Jr. on December 16. I noticed that Taylor was the baddest most fly preggers mama I have ever seen in a long while. Not since Love & Hip Hop star Rasheeda had another mom-to-be rock chic, eclectic and sporty maternity wear so well.
I really dug the military style jacket over a Hermes Paris T-shirt over military style green pants with some funky rubber bottom striped calf-length boots.
The R&B singer looked edgy hip Goth/Grunge in all black while rocking some fierce Agyness Deyn Dr. Martin Over-the-Knee Boots. Fab!
Finally, the long casual grey sweatshirt material coat jacket, over a tee and sweat pants with ripped knees and high tops accessorized with a dark grey neoprene bad was the business!
