NYFW: We Re-imagined The 2017 Trends for Preginistas

Another New York Fashion Week has just wrapped and we noticed tons of new trends for the upcoming seasons.

White shirt dresses, shoulder cutouts, banker pin stripes, the color yellow, khaki and sleeve slits reigned supreme. There were fold-over tops, cinched waists, trenchoats and even terry cloth robes spotted on the runways at some of the top designers.

Moms-to-be, women trying to conceive and those who are already heavily pregnant do not have to count themselves out on the trendy looks either. In this modern era, various lines and designers are being creative with releasing re-imagined and modified version of today’s hip trends. Alternatively, a preginista can incorporate a trend in her accessories or choice of color or print! They can have it their way.

Below is our pick of how to remix the White Shirt Dress trend, khaki, shoulder cut outs, pin stripes and yellow! Get inspired!

Bryce Howard’s Red Carpet Picks Give Us One More Reason to Love her

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards went down last night at The Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California and has been notable this year because of its diversity among winners (Viola Davis for Best Actress and Denzel Washington for Best Actor in Fences, Hidden Figures for Best Cast and Mahershala Ali for Best Actor Supporting Role in Moonlight).

But it was noteworthy in the fashion world for another reason.

This not the first time Howard, who was nominated for her performance in an episode of Netflix‘s Black Mirror, has opted to skip the expensive couture and custom designed dresses many stars wear on the red carpet.

In December, the Twilight saga series star wore a dreamy yellow Top Shop gown to the Critics Choice Awards, which sells for just $240 at Topshop. At the 2016 Golden Globes, the daughter of famed actor turned director Ron Howard,  wore a blue Jenny Packham gown that she bought herself at Neiman Marcus the week of the show.

These choices are awesome because in a world where many people clamor to imitate celeb style, she makes it achievable for fashion conscious women of all socio-economic levels. Also, you got to give it up to her for giving back while looking fabulous! Score!

More reasons to love Bryce! Swoon!

This Shoe Trend is Actually Preggers Friendly

Platform shoes were last popular when worn by the girls on the popular Brit band, The Spice Girls. Interestingly enough, we saw a lot of platforms on the feet of the top models runway shows last fall.  So they are back in style. Ordinarily, you’d think platforms would be off-limits to moms-to-be because that type of shoe elevates the wearer’s height. Pregnant women are often recommended to stay away from high heels because of the fall risk they pose.

An accidental fall could be bad news for mom and baby if she lands wrong from a slip. However, surprisingly, platform shoes give you more security because there is a lot of support on the balls of the feet. Balancing on skinny heels is harder.

Going into the spring season, there are many different options  from sandals, to peep-toe, to booties, to pumps. To give you some ideas on different styles out there, check out these offerings curated with our friends from Shopstyle:

Budget Posh: 3 Tips to Get a Sophisticated and Elegant Living Room

Partner Postmodern interiors

The living room is a crucial space in any home; it is the first place any stylish homeowner looks to when trying to revamp a living space. Decorating and styling your living room is an opportunity to showcase your personal taste and show off your style muscles. This is easier said than done particularly if you have champagne style and you are operating on a canned beer budget. However, let your shoestring budget not prevent you from having that elegant and sophisticated living room you have always desired. Here are three budget friendly tips to help redecorate your living room.

  1. Start by simplifying your style

There is a lot of sophistication and elegance in simplicity. Doing too much may not only cost you more but may also end up making your living room cluttered and over-accessorized. You will end up with a disorganized and messy space other than the chic, elegant and sophisticated look you were going for. Simply begin by paring down your collection and ensure you only retain elegant pieces that evoke strong memory or have some sentimental value. The best thing about a simplified space is that every element of your design will stand out and shine. Here are some trips on de-cluttering;

  • Instead of many pieces of art that will make your pace look disorganized, go for a statement piece that stands out.
  • Creatively camouflage your television; a huge flat screen is a must have for most people however it can make your living room look congested. Visually minimize it by creating a gallery wall. Alternatively go for a salon-style arrangement around it. I am sure you are wondering how this works? Very simple! The frame of your TV screen will blend with the art work and distract the eye
  1. Go for vinyl flooring and laminate flooring instead of hardwood

Most Americans favor for hardwood flooring over luxury vinyl plank flooring and laminate flooring without considering how affordable the latter methods floors are. When dealing with hardwood you have to worry about scratches and dents and a remodel that comes with a high price tag. Opt for vinyl flooring that looks like real wood instead of solid or even engineered hardwood as it is often times ¼ the cost and DIY friendly (meaning no expensive contractor!).

Vinyl flooring is extremely versatile in color because they use 3-D printing that resembles stone or hardwood. Additionally, vinyl planks are easily replaceable as compared to real hardwood; you can cut and install vinyl planks with only a razor blade and hammer!

Vinyl is not only cheaper but it is more durable and scratch resistant than hardwood. Since it is made of composite materials, it doesn’t dent and scratch like engineered or real solid wood does. Since vinyl is completely water resistant it can serve well in spaces that have a great moisture and water content, or rather places vulnerable to leakages. The best part is you can get it printed in almost any color, grain pattern or style to match whatever interior design style you have going in your living room. Wood look vinyl can give your home that classic and elegant feel that makes it more pleasant and welcoming with out the high price tag and expensive remodel. You can get free vinyl flooring samples from most retailers without even inputting a credit card to see what best matches your style!

window treatment

  1. Try out window treatmentsThis is a great way of saving the pocket book while getting a sophisticated and elegant style. Window treatments are a perfect replacement for unlined and flimsy curtains. Opt for secondary colors here that complement either your furniture color or main color scheme in the living room. Look for simple patterns or solid colors, window treatments that are too busy with lots of stripes and patterns can take away from the overall theme of the room and draw your eye away from the centerpiece of the room.

These three design techniques will go a long way in adding elegance, sophistication, class and style to your living room space.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Her Children Have the Best Style!

Style icon Sarah Jessica Parker is opening her first brick and mortar retail shop in my county, a suburb to Washington, DC. I’m excited and interested in seeing if she will start selling children’s shoes and clothing soon.

If you’ve ever seen photos of her and her 8-year old twin daughters Tabitha and Loretta out and about “in the city”, you may notice that they too have a pretty distinctive and chic style. Parker sticks with boyfriend jeans, cropped sweaters, boots, and comfy sweats. Her girls are always in frilly skirts, colorful tops and bottoms with eclectic prints. They mix and match and that makes it all so fun!

In an interview with PEOPLE magazine a few years back, the Divorce star said that her kids pick their own clothes.

“They’re at an age — and have been for many years — where they really have their own identity,” the “Sex and the City” star told People Friday at the launch of the Fendi New York flagship store.”So Sunday through Thursday, the rule is they can wear whatever they want,” Parker, 49, said of 12-year-old son James Wilkie and five-year-old twin daughters Tabitha and Loretta with husband Matthew Broderick. “And if we go to the theater or to the ballet, I get a say. But it’s really among choices that they approve of.”

Parker, who is married to actor Matthew Broderick and shares three children with him,  recently started designing clothing herself, a few years after launching her own line of handbags and shoes with couture designer Manolo Blahnik.

But when it comes to her son, she is all about thrifting.

“I will only buy secondhand clothes for my son, James Wilkie. The documentary The True Cost really changed me,” she told The Edit online magazine. “The one area I’ve had a hard time with is pants, but I buy used T-shirts and sweaters for him. Track pants are hard—boys rip them; I don’t know how to get around that.”

And recently, she proved that she is a really hands-on mom who puts her kids first.

Shortly after collecting her  People’s Choice Award, she rushed off back to New York so she could get to bed in time to go to her her daughters’ piano recital the next day, E! Online reported.

“I’m running to catch an airplane right now. Literally I have two more seconds then I have to run home,” she said. “I’m going back home to New York. My daughters have a piano concert tomorrow, so I have to be there for that.”

Grab These Kardashian Kids Clothes Deals: 50% Off; Starting at $7.00 NOW!

Boy do the Kardashians know how to do business. I know I’m late to the party but I just discovered that the family sells kids clothing! Whoa mama! The cool part is that the clothes are hip and chic, with a bit of edge to them but not too adult.

The line actually started back in 2014! (where have I been?) and they are inspired by the children in the family: Kourtney and Scott Disick’s three children 7- year old Mason, 4-year old Penelope and 2-year old Reign; and Kim’s 3-year old daughter North; and I suppose now her

The girls collection come in sizes newborn to 5T and include frilly tulle, faux fur, leopard prints and shiny gold leggins the boys run from newborn to 24 months and feature baggy sweat pants, sleeveless hoodies,  camo sweatshirts and suspender pants, signature of Mason.

The line is sold at Babies R Us, Nordstroms, Lord & Taylor and other retailers nationwide and the price ranges from $20 to $40 which is a great moderate price point but if you look around the web, you can find them at discount stores for less.

I did some digging and here is what I found of my fave items from this collection all ON SALE!

  1. A super cute sleeveless cream party dress for a baby up to 6-years old that comes with a sequinned top fitted to the waist and an adorable tulle skirt which is perfect for a portrait, a formal outing or visit to friends. It’s on sale now at Off 5th Avenue for just $26.99.
  2. I think the floral jumpsuit is something Kourtney would wear and so this is cute little mini me jumper for her daughter. It’s down from $37 to $22 at Alex and Alexa.
  3. The gold belted romper with cubic print is a great summer play version of the jumpsuit and it’s on sale now for $14.99 at discount outletters 6pm.
  4. I love the faux suede side panels on their Pointi leggings for girls. It too is down to $16.99 at 6pm.
  5. Perfect for weekend outings, cruising at the mall, play dates are these pants with the edgy ribbed side panels. So fly! They’re $17 right now at Alex and Alexa.
  6. I love Ye and his style so I definitely saw him when I peeped this camo-inspired sweater. It’s a decent $19.99 at 6pm right now.
  7. I know that it is winter in many parts of the states but I would definitely grab up this past season striped baby shorts for $$7.20 at Lord & Taylor and stock up for Spring!
  8. These pants with suspenders just scream Mason Disick. That little boy had so much style and sophistication when he wore such smart clothing. The pants and suspenders go for $29.99 at Off 5th for 2T-4T. And the infant version thru 24 months is $22.19 at Lord & Taylor. Not bad !
  9. I’m not sure when they released this baby girl black mesh dress but I think it is the cutest thing. And Lord & Taylor is selling it for just $9.99, down from $33! That’s a steal and won’t last long, I’m certain!
  10. The asymmetric black zipped coverall in that muted purple is to die for and it’s down as well at Off 5th for $26.99 from $36.99.
  11. I love the sporty look to the hooded sleeveless top. Zappos has it for $24.99
  12. Finally, I cannot get enough of the harem pants for infants they sell! Love! It too is on sale, I guess, for $17.49 at Nordstrom half off!

If you’re interested in picking up any of these items, I suggest you do so fast because often times right after I post about clothing on sale at various sites, they sell out pretty quickly and Lord knows when they’ll be restocked and if they’ll be priced that low again! Good luck and happy shopping!

Our 2017 People’s Choice Awards Run down

people's choice awards red carpet 2017

Blake Lively, Kristen Bell, Ali Arter and Jennifer Lopez attended the 2017 People’s Choice Awards.

I love the People’s Choice Awards, held this year at Microsoft Theater on January 18, 2017 in Los Angeles, California, for several reasons: 1) the nominees include a broad array of actors, actresses and TV shows, movies and bits that the average person enjoys, not just critics, film producers and elites; 2) they spread the love around and there isn’t one show or person that dominates all the awards; and 3) they have fun category like best collaboration. I mean the nominees this year for that category included:

Conan O’Brien’s Ride Along with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart
Ellen DeGeneres and Britney Spears’ Mall Mischief
James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke with Adele
Lip Sync Battle with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum
Saturday Night Live with Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon

How fun, eh?!?

A bunch of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums presented like Jada Pinkett Smith in Dolce&Gabbana and Christian Louboutin shoes and Ali Larter, who looked stunning in a cute pink strapless Zac Posen mini dress.

A lot were nominated too: Adele, Beyonce, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Kerry Washington, Kelly Ripa, Lucy Liu, Claire Danes, Ellen Pompeo, Hilary Duff, Keri Russell, Zoe Saldana, Scarlett Johanssen, EMily Blunt, Anna Farris, Zoe Deschanel, Taraji P. Henson, Viola Davis, for example. See…what I mean? They nominate everyone!

And then there were the winners: Jennifer Lopez, who stunned in a Reem Acra gown, Brian Atwood shoes, and H. Stern jewels won for Favorite TV Crime Drama Actress.

Brand new second-time mom Blake Lively showed out in in a black fringe Elie Sabb mini dress to pick up her win for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress for her role in The Shallows.

Kristen Bell got two: a win for the Favorite Actress in a  New TV Series for her role in The Good Place and her popular movie Bad Moms won for Favorite Comedic Movie.

people's choice awards 2017

Grey’s Anatomy Sarah Drew, Fuller House’s Jodie Sweetin and Grey’s Camilla Luddington, who is in her third trimester of pregnancy and looking fabulous.

Sarah Drew in a Self-Portrait mini dress and Camilla Ludington‘s show Grey’s Anatomy won for Favorite Network TV Drama. Luddington wore a black and sheer mid-length Heidi Merrick dress, Casadei pumps and jewels by Established Jewelry. Fuller House and cast were on hand to accept their win for the Favorite Premium Comedy Series, including Jodie Sweetin attended. She juxtaposed her inner rocker girl in a Linea Pelle Collection leather jacket with a dainty wearing a  feminine floor-length floral dress from Sheri Hill underneath.

Sofia Vergara was statuesque in Marchesa and Neil Lane jewels  while winning the award for Favorite Comedic TV Actress.

Carrie Underwood wasn’t there but she walked away with the Favorite Female Country Artist award.

The biggest winner among all our alums was Britney Spears who nabbed the Favorite Pop ArtistFavorite Social Media Celebrity and the Favorite Comedic Collaboration for her “Mall Mischief” bit with Ellen DeGeneres. She was a no-show, however. Poo.

These Are Not Your Mom’s Hunter Boots!

When it comes to classic and timeless fashion items, Wellington boots by Hunter are up there. The rubber goulashes are made by the company which originally was established as North British Rubber Company in 1856. Today, the heritage label maintains its authentic brand identity and has earned worldwide recognition and a royal warrant for its outerwear and footwear collection.

The boots now fuse function with fashion and come in an eclectic range of colors and styles. You can get them in wedge boot style, ombre, in bright colors like teal and hot pink, with quilted calf, and with the sock in sole for as low as $40 on sale at some online retailers worldwide.

We love them because they are mom and mom-to-be friendly. The boots are pretty easy to slip on because they have a large calf are and the rubber soles make them slip resistant and pretty safe and secure for the expecting woman with the displaced center of gravity and precious cargo on her front.

We love Hunter! Check out some inspiration sites below! Click to buy but they sell out pretty fast so good luck!
