3 Time Single Surrogate Dad Cristiano Ronaldo Won Hearts with This Photo

cristiano-ronaldos-girlfriend-georgina-rodriguez-shows-off-growing-baby-bump-on-holiday-in-ibiza-as-pregnancy-rumours-continue-to-gather-pace

Cristiano Ronaldo might have won the hot dad of the year award simply because he is among one of a tiny minority of single men who have adopted a baby or welcomed one in the world via a surrogate without a partner.

The Portuguese soccer star posted an Instagram photo of himself and his son holding the family’s newest arrival: a set of boy/girl twins that Ronaldo used an American surrogate to bring into this world.

In the pic he captioned “Blessed, he and his son Cristiano Jr (whom he also welcomed via surrogate) each cradle Ava and Mateo while swinging on the porch. Earlier, after the duo were born, he announced their entrance with a photo of himself holding them as they slept.

It is rumored that he and girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez are expecting a child together and that she is 5 months along but that has not been confirmed and photos of her in a bikini as they vacationed this week do not prove anything either.

The Top 10 Names Millennials Parents May Give Their Babies This Year

photo: Danielle MacInnes

Earlier this year, Nameberry came out with its list of top 100 Trending baby names that the popular baby naming site predicts will be most used. Just getting around now, albeit 6 months later, to check out the list and I like a lot of the names on it.

After combing through it, I picked the top 10 Millennial friendly names I think will be most attractive to young couples under 30 and the reasons why I think so:

Thor

  •  Because that new Avengers movie is coming out and it will inspire all the Superhero geeks out there.

Yara

  • The actress, Black’ish‘s Yara Shahidi, is beautiful, smart and on every magazine cover and red carpet looking powerful and smart; and she’s going to Harvard. Nice legacy to want your little girl to aspire to.

Wilder

  • This name just screams Millennial friendly to me!

Remy

  • Rapper Remy Ma famously feuded with Nicki Minaj this year and for all her effort in breaking the internet after her diss tape came out, she won a coveted Best Female Rapper Award at this year’s BET Awards besting lots of great vet rappers including her arch nemesis Minaj herself. For everyone who wants their daughter to overcome tough times and take on Goliath of the world, yes to Remy.

Loyal

  • Like Royal but less douchey. Also, it is unique and has tons of personality.

Echo

  • Because who doesn’t love a competitor to Siri. Besides Amazon.com is taking over the world and naming your kid after one of its newest signature devices will make you feel invincible too, maybe.

Fiona

  • Classic yet not too pretentious.

Frank

  • For a boy and similar reason.

Cassius

  • Because reality TV housewives competed over Cash and Cassius sounds maganaminous. Also, anyone nostalgic and want to remember Mohammed Ali may want to pay homage to him this way by naming their kid after Ali’s birth name.

Arrow

  • Another superhero fan’s dream name.

20 Ways to Save Money for a Family Vacation

family-591581_1280

Family vacations are a great way to make lasting memories that you all cherish for the rest of your lives, but they can also be quite pricey. That doesn’t mean that the trip of your dreams is out of reach, however, even if you’re faced with a relatively tight budget.

These 20 savings tips can add up big time, helping you to reach your travel goals before you know it.

  1. Start a Family Travel Fund – Pitch in as a family. Contributing allowances, gift money and spare change as a group helps everyone take responsibility for the expenses of an exciting travel adventure.
  2. Hold a Garage Sale – The garage sale is a time-honored tradition that can help you create more space in your home as well as collect a bit of pocket money. Holding a garage sale with the intention of putting 100% of the proceeds towards your vacation is a great way to jump-start your vacation savings account.
  3. Break Out the Change Jar – Making a habit of dumping your pocket change into a large jar adds up surprisingly fast, even more so when every member of the family is chipping in.
  4. Liquidate Your Assets – Selling a bunch of old collectibles that are taking up space online helps you corner a niche market that may not be available through a traditional, on-site garage sale. In some cases specialty items can fetch much higher prices online.
  5. Establish a Family Dinner Routine – If your family eats out more than once a week, start researching money-saving meals you can prepare at home and deposit the average check price of those meals into a dedicated savings account.
  6. Make Cutting Energy Costs Fun – Make a game of seeing who can use the least amount of energy in your home. Not only will you save big on your utility bills, you’ll also be reducing your household footprint.
  7. Sign Up for Flash Sale Groups – Online marketing groups that offer flash sales generally have big-ticket items available at bargain-basement prices for a very short time. Signing up for these groups can help you save big and you can put the money you would have spent away for your family trip.
  8. Have Family Coupon Clipping Parties – Clipping coupons is tedious work, but it can be fun when the whole family sits down together to make an event of the chore.
  9. Encourage Kids to Contribute – Whether they’re mowing lawns, babysitting, setting up a lemonade stand or chipping in from a birthday fund, encouraging your kids to contribute allows them to make a difference in your vacation budget. This gives them a sense of pride and the savings account a boost.
  10. Break Bad Habits Together – If one member of the family is a smoker, another has an expensive coffee habit and the kids are all addicted to sugar, making a family effort to break those bad habits while putting the money saved in a travel account can be a great motivator on all fronts.
  11. Cut Down on Car Use – There are times in most families’ lives when it would be just as easy to walk, use mass transit or bike to a location than to drive. When those opportunities arise, take advantage of them and save money on gasoline in the process.
  12. Hold a Savings Competition – Competing with one another to see who can save the most is a great way to encourage savings, especially when you’re all contributing to a common goal.
  13. Make a Savings Thermometer – There’s a reason why the savings thermometer is a fundraising standby: it works! Making your own vacation savings gauge provides an actual goal and shows how much further you have to go before you reach it.
  14. Start a “No Waste” Challenge – The average family throws away a shocking amount of money through sheer product waste. Starting a “no waste” challenge encourages more responsible habits and saves money.
  15. Take Advantage of Local “Free Days” – Museums, libraries and other institutions often run “free day” promotions. Taking advantage of them allows your family to enjoy no-cost entertainment, freeing up more funds for travel.
  16. Host Potluck Get-Togethers – There’s no need to stop entertaining when you’re trying to save, but instead of footing the bill for the entire meal just hold an old-fashioned potluck! When everyone contributes to the party, you’re able to save big and still enjoy the company of your nearest and dearest.
  17. Hold Fashion Swaps – Kids outgrow clothing so quickly that it’s not uncommon to send an item with tags still attached to the local thrift store. Hosting a fashion-swap at your house with other parents allows everyone to trade out gently-worn clothing, saving money and enjoying one another’s company in the process.
  18. Go Paperless – Stop spending money on stamps, envelopes and checks by going paperless with all of your bills.
  19. Get DIY Savvy – There are so many things you can do at home for a fraction of the price of purchasing store-bought goods, all you need is a bit of know-how. Online tutorials for everything from making butter to building furniture are plentiful.
  20. Visit Professionals in Training – Rather than spending a small fortune on haircuts, teeth cleanings and other basic services, consider visiting your local training center. There, professionals in training will perform these services with the supervision of a skilled instructor at a fraction of the cost!

International Bump Watch: K-Drama CoStars Song Hye Kyo and Song Hye Kyo Put Pregnancy Rumors to Rest

songjoongki

As we’ve blogged about before, Hollywood isn’t the only center for celebrity “bumpwatch”.

In other entertainment capitals around the world like Bollywood India, Nollywood Nigeria, South Africa, South Korea, the Philippines, and elsewhere the public and media speculate and follow the impending arrivals of their favorite television and movie stars.

We’re all about following Interntional Bump Watch too!

In South Korea, actors Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are tying the knot in October after keeping their off-set romance a secret. The two co star in the military TV drama Descendants of the Sun where, as what happens with a lot of Western actors, they hit it off and started a romance. He plays a special forces captain and she an army surgeon.

Shortly thereafter, rumors started to circulate that they would be expecting.

But the talent agency for Kyo put that speculation to rest by issuing a statement calling the rumor “completely groundless.” Hmmmm…. We’ll see. Ha!

She’s on bump watch for sure!

10 Healthy Snacks For The Family

img_8307

During the long, hot days of summer, heavy snacks can leave kids feeling sluggish and unmotivated.

Pre-packaged snacks can be filled with additives, coloring agents, and preservatives, not to mention they’re more expensive than their wholesome, homemade counterparts.

Also, during  hectic days, parents and caregivers may not have much time to devote to concocting elaborate snacks, but that doesn’t mean you have to go the pre-packaged route.

Here are ten warm-weather treats that are sure to be a hit with your little ones during the hottest of summer days.

1Fruit Kabobs – Spearing fruit and cheese cubes onto skewers makes for a wholesome snack thats assembled in a snap; this recipe works with any seasonal fruit you have on hand. Apples and cheese are always a favorite pairing; tart, sweet apples and calcium-rich cheese satisfy little ones and parents alike.

2. Parfaits – Layering yogurt, fresh fruit, and granola into glasses requires next to no time, and makes for a light, healthy snack on a hot summer day. Kids love the pretty layered effect, but may not be coordinated enough to keep glass intact; if your little ones are on the clumsy side, opt for unbreakable, transparent plastic. Dont forget the long-handled spoons!

3. Frozen Yogurt Pops – Frozen yogurt pops are readily available in the freezer section of any grocery store; however, they can be laden with preservatives and artificial flavorings. Springing for an inexpensive Popsicle mold is one of the smartest summer-snack investments you can make; simply mix your kids favorite flavor of yogurt with roughly chopped, lightly mashed fruit, pour into molds, and freeze overnight. Enjoy all-natural frozen yogurt pops, naturally sweetened by the fruit and free of preservatives and chemicals.

4. Coconut Water Popsicles – High in potassium and minerals, coconut water is the liquid found inside young coconuts. The coconut flavor is mild and understated, and very low in sugar; to make these coconut water popsicles palatable to kids, mix with chopped fruit and pour into your trusty Popsicle molds.

5. Fruit Pizza – While traditional recipes for fruit pizza call for a sugar cookie crust, parents looking to keep sugar content to a minimum may prefer a traditional pizza crust sweetened with a pinch of brown sugar and cinnamon. Bake crust according to package instructions, and allow it to cool. Spread with a fruit-flavored cream cheese such as strawberry or pineapple, then top with sliced fruit. Drizzle with a puree of strawberries or raspberries, slice, and serve.

6. Graham Cracker Sandwiches – Potassium-rich bananas and peanut butter are a classic pairing; adding graham crackers creates a kid-favorite snack in the blink of an eye. Simply mash a sliced banana with a fork, and mix with a heaping spoonful of peanut butter. Spread the gooey mixture between two graham crackers and serve.

7. Ants on a Log – Crisp, cool celery pairs so beautifully with peanut butter that this classic snack is the stuff of legend. Quickly assembled and loved by kids, Ants on a Log are one of the greatest summertime snacks; just spread a healthy layer of peanut butter onto a celery stick and top with raisins.

8. Smoothies – Frozen fruit, milk, and yogurt can be thrown into a blender to create a snack thats high in calcium and full of fruity goodness. For ultimate kid approval, serve with a whimsical twisty straw in a colorful cup. Experiment with fruits and yogurt flavors; there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to delightful combinations.

9. Watermelon “Cookies” – Nothing says “summer” quite like the red, juicy flesh of a watermelon. To make these watermelon “cookies,” slice a watermelon into one inch slabs, and then use cookie cutters to make interesting shapes. For those that feel like icing is an essential part of a cookies makeup, a layer of thick vanilla-flavored Greek yogurt provides a calcium and protein boost while maintaining its consistency against the juice of the watermelon.

10. Trail Mix – Bagged trail mix can be full of unnecessary calories and fat, while the all-natural, preservative-free variety gets quite pricey. To make your own healthy mix without breaking the bank, mix any dried fruit, like cranberries or raisins, with assorted nuts and pretzel sticks. For the highest kid approval rating, let them join in the fun. Because it contains no dairy or perishable items, this trail mix can be tucked into a beach bag for poolside snacking, tossed in a backpack to provide sustenance on a long hike, or stuck in a pocket for portable munching at the park.

Fresh fruit is the cornerstone of healthy summer snacks, so be sure to keep as much on hand as possible.

Local farmers markets can be less expensive than chain grocery store produce, so keep your eyes peeled for such facilities. These markets also tend to be fun for kids, so dont hesitate to bring them along for the fruit shopping adventure!

Hope your kids enjoy these healthy alternatives!

What Blue Ivy Was Rapping on Dad Jay Z’s ‘4:44’ Album

img_8281

While mom Beyonce is busy tending to her newborn twins, eldest child, Blue Ivy has been taken away some of the spotlight from her infant siblings. A lot of the buzz this week on her rapper husband Shawn Jay Z Carter’s newest album focused on the 5-year old’s lyrical debut on her dad’s song “We Family” also named “Blue’s Freestyle”.

The crowd-source contributors over at Genius took a stab at what they think the lyrics are:

“Everything everything this my only single thing

Everything I hear is my answer

And if you think I say, then ?

I never hear that, I be in the posse

Never seen a ceiling in my whole life

Everything I seen, everything is rotten

Never sit in silence ? Carter

Innocent we seek them

I and say we see them

?

Boom shakalaka

Boom shakalaka

Boom shakalaka

Boom shakalaka

Everything in shaka

Everything in faka

Everything in shaka

Everything in faka”

The consensus from the Interwebs is that it’s a spin off or Lauryn Hill’s “Everything is Everything” off of her multi-platinum and multiple Grammy-award winning album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”.

Her folks must play it often at the crib.

We can dig it!

Tennis Star Mandy Minella Competed in Wimbledon Pregnant

f028eb8b-6461-4a53-81d0-8881294a3895

Serena Williams won the Australian Open while pregnant and while she is missing Wimbledon, another pregnant athlete was in the running to mimic Williams’ win.

The current #82 world ranked Tennis Star Mandy Minella is four and a half months pregnant

Unfortunately, the Luxembourg native lost in the Women’s Singles at Wimbledon on Monday and today lost with her Doubles partner Anastasija Sevastova  in a 6-1, 7-6 defeat.

She is taking the loss in stride and isn’t slowing down.

“Wimbledon is my last tournament this season,” she told the Luxemburger Wort newspaper. “I want to compete again at Wimbledon in 2018 – and bring the baby buggy.”

The 32-year old only announced this week that she was pregnant by posting on Instagram a pic of her husband Tim Sommer kissing her bump court-side.

She was so adorable with her baby bump on the court today. Love it! Congrats!

Cute!
