Beyonce ‘BumpWatch’ News: The Latest

ffa77cb4-7ec8-4d57-b735-47c71e9502e8

Normally, I do a Bellyitch Bumpwatch roundup of various pregnant celebs but today, there is so much Beyonce news, the Stan in me will focus this post on Mrs. Carter news only.

(Smile)

Fans are going wild over the fact that the mega pop star recycled the large silver circular earrings she wore  in the “If I Were A Boy” video and speculating that she did so to relay subliminally to the world that she is having twin boys. (Cosmo)

The record Grammy nominated and winning start wore a cute black velvet mini dress that she accessorized with a black choker and black boots to her step dad Richard Lawson’s birthday party this week.

The Lemonade singer is also reportedly obsessed over the extra weight gain she’s had which is very common especially with twin pregnancies. (Hollywood Life)

And the platinum-selling artist is also reportedly excercising a bunch to stave off the excessive weight gain. (US Weekly)

And it is cool to note that she is being adventurous by wearing color durinf a time that most expecting women stick with the color black as it is slimming (See above collage of recent fashion)

Pi Day: Get Blaze Artisanal Pizza for $3.14 Today

blaze-pizza
Today is March 14 also known as Pi Day, the numerical figure for the ratio of a circul’s circumference to its diameter is 3.14. The day is celebrated by the eating, purchase and making of actual pies. But a pizza pie is also a pie, right?

So Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza’s nationwide are offering its yummy artisanal pizzas for just $3.14 each.

My family loves these pizzas because they, like & Pizza, Custom Pizza and other chains, allow customers to build their own personal pies. Last year, we lined up with dozens of coeds that live in our college town to get our heavily discounted pizza.

An assembly-line format allows guests to select a number of toppings from fresh ingredients – all for under $8.

Then, the 11-inch pies are sent to the oven for 180 seconds, emerging “fast-fire’d” and ready to eat.

Blaze Pizza makes its dough from scratch, using a recipe designed by Executive Chef Brad Kent to ensure a crisp, thin crust.

Other signature menu items include fresh salads, blood orange lemonade and s’more pies. The restaurant can cater to dietary needs with gluten-free dough and vegan cheese.

A quickly expanding company, Blaze Pizza’s first opened in California in 2012.

If you live near a Blaze pizza and aren’t blanketed under the Northeast storm, head out there for dinner this evening or for lunch.

What We Love About this Christian Fashion Blogger’s IVF Pregnancy Announcement

0fa9e0cc-50a1-42d0-b210-8d57997bed4a

In recent past, pregnancy announcements were simple joyful releases of information to friends and family about an impending arrival.

As they should be, all rejoiced in the happy news none the wiser of any potential struggle to arrive at that blissful point in a woman and her partner’s life.

These days, couples are being more transparent about their journey as was the case in one pregnancy announcement we happened upon in social media.

Washington, DC area blogger Jenny Metellus of the Au Bob Prix fashion blog shared a couple of endearing photos on her Instagram announcing her pregnancy with her hubby of five years.

The obviously Christian couple seemed to have relied on prayer and science to help them arrive at parenthood.

It’s interesting and we are happy to take note of this detail  given that to be religious is often thought to be anti-science.

Congrats to them both!

Here’s to a safe and healthy remaining pregnancy, labor and delivery too.

Say What? Studies Say We’ve Been Doing Parenting Wrong All These Years?

pretty-1357039_1280

You think you should be helping your child with his homework or making your daughter finish her meal, right? How about washing your baby every day or talking baby talk to her  because you think it will help her with her future vocal skills?

Yeah, those are the things all the books and parenting theories tell us.

Well, like with a lot of social science studies that give us conflicting data year after year, what if these theories are false?

Cracked.com hypothesizes that as the new millennia tries to figure out how to raise children to be conscientious and not little monsters, it turns out that our “well-meaning habits are in fact making things worse.”

Think not-so-smart parents steering their kids wrong. Think scrubbing away good bacteria. Think contributing to negative emotions to food. sigh  Yeah.

Interesting. Curious? Read the post HERE!

We Imagine These are The Euorpean Trucks for the Twin Babies Jay-Z Rapped About

beyon-twin-mercedes

During a February 2, 2017 interview, Beyonce’s dad Matthew Knowles suggested that Queen Bey is expecting a baby boy and baby girl this year but in DJ Khaled‘s song “Shining” that she and husband Jay-Z guest performed on a week later, Jay seemed to suggest that he didn’t know what the sex of the babies are.

Let’s back up:

Knowles, who currently is an entertainment assistant professor at Texas Southern University, learned about the pregnancy the same time we all did because Bey didn’t tell him before announcing it to the world via her artsy pregnancy announcement.

But during a sit down chat with Insider, the ex –Destiny’s Child manager shared the circumstances under which he learned/

“I was shocked,” Knowles told the site. “Let me tell you what happened. I got a first text, and I was like, ‘Why is this person saying congratulations?’ Then I get a second text from one of my students at Texas Southern, and I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ He was like, ‘Go to the web.’ I didn’t know myself.”

That might have been a good decision by  because Matthew might have accidentally spilled the beans too soon.

During the Insider interview, the talent manager and university instructor went on to possibly reveal the sex of the babies.

“And Blue Ivy is going to have some brothers and sisters. She is already excited,” he said.

When the interviewer pressed for a confirmation that Bey was going to have a girl and boy, Knowles quickly flipped the script.

He said he was just talking in general.

Mmmm hmmmm! No wonder Yonce didn’t tell dear old dad the news in advance. He plum would have revealed it too soon but he wouldn’t have been the first. In 2011, Kelly Rowland also slipped up during an interview and let people know about Blue’s gender before Bey and Jay could.

Both Rowland, who is like a sister, and of course Matthew, who is a grandfather to Mrs. Sean “Jay-Z” Carter’s 5-year old daughter Blue Ivy and Solange Knowles‘ 12-year old son, Daniel, would be forgiven.

He may be right about guessing though.

A week later, the same day Beyonce performed on the Grammy Awards, DJ Khaled released a single from his upcoming album titled, “Shining” (that’s my jam) but any way, on the song, Jay-Z has a few bars which seem to indicate that he is clueless (or was clueless back when he penned the lyrics) as to the baby’s gender. On the song, he raps:

One ain’t enough, I need two

That night I mix the Ace with the D’us’

Hit a triple-double in the Garden

I done my left wrist like I’m Harden (swish)

Ran to the dealer, bought twin Mercedes’

The European trucks for the twin babies

Don’t let me have a son, I’m a fool (ooooh)

Send him to school in all my jewels

I want a boy and girl I fight for truth

Whatever God give me, I’m cool

LISTEN to the entire thing here:

We imagine what those twin European (his and hers) Mercedes would look like in the above collage, specifically, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLS63. Below, check out actor-comedian Kevin Hart in front of his own Mercedes truck that he showed off his truck on social media recently. Something tells us these trucks will grow in popularity soon especially after the twin babies are born.

Review: Here’s Another Very Cute Baby Shower Gift Book

line-severinsen-im-so-pregnant

Novelty books are always a great gift to give a first time mom or a woman who has just announced she is expecting her first kid. I was sent a copy of Norweigian illustrator and animator Line Severinsen‘s new graphic book, “I’m So Pregnant” to check out (retail: $14.99US). It’s a humorous take on all the common and untold unpleasantness of pregnancy.

In the intro to the hard cover book of over 50 pages of illustrations, Severinsen explains, “Like many women, when I became pregnant with my first baby, I was so excited to have the experience of carrying a child…but then, not long into my first trimester, I started noticing how the media and blogosphere continuously painted pregnancy in such a glorious light, completely leaving out the negative things that many pregnant women experienced.”

She said that’s when she grabbed her pencils to start telling her “pregnancy story in an honest way.” But with all the “keepin’ it real” in between the pages of her new book, Severinsen acknowledges it all ends well.

“I like to think that these drawings show that while pregnancy is not always easy (or pretty, or comfortable, or fun),in the end, when you see your baby for the first time, it is completely worth it,” she writes.

I found the illustrations about the sudden appearance of stretch marks, the asinine question one gets at the end, “You’re still pregnant?!”, the screaming for an epidural, the delivery selfie, and the unexpected bowel movement during the pushing stage to be the BEST and funniest parts!”

Overall, the short read is a pleasurable and fun take on pregnancy-hood. It’s on sale now! Grab your copy from our partners at Amazon.com.

Meanwhile, the title reminded me of this parody of rapper Iggy Azalea‘s song “Fancy” called “I’m so pregnant. WATCH:

Adele Did the Universal ‘Pregnant Woman Belly Cup’ and Sent the Internet Crazy!

adele-belly

Yesterday, Adele did the universal subconscious hand over belly cupping that pregnant women do without even thinking, but only she did it in a photo that she posted on her Instagram account. You know what that means?

She triggered the bump watch brigade as speculation among her fans and followers immediately swarmed in social media that the 28-year old singer-songwriter is expecting her second child with husband Simon Konecki.

Recall that at the end of her North America tour, the multi-Grammy Award winner told the farewell tour audience that she was going to go have a baby, indicating that she will take her time off from touring to grow her family.

We know this may be a false alarm, but there have been several incidences in the past when a celebrity may have been pregnant at a time she was photographed cupping her belly but had not made any big public announcement confirming such news. Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez come to mind. (see above and actually Carey later miscarried, we believe)

We have blogged often about the “Bump Watch Speculation” which happens when a celeb woman has overindulged in a meal and is photographed by the paparazzi emerging from a restaurant, wears a dress with an unnatural bubble in it or gains a few pounds that show up in the belly area.  She is immediately presumed to be with child.

It could be nothing. Time will tell. We’ll be waiting. Stay tuned. (smile)

Boss Tips for Your Carnival-Circus Themed Birthday Party

img_3244

Looking for a way to keep your kids and their friends busy, but not inside the house making a mess for you? Here’s the solution, make a backyard carnival! You will use things that you already have around the house so it won’t cost you a lot of money either. Here’s how to do it

Create a plan. Start by drawing out a sketch of your backyard and determine how many different games and activities you will need to fill your backyard. Brainstorm games of your own or take some of these.

Can knock down. Take 6 cans and stack them up in a pyramid shape. The cans can be empty or full depending on what you have available. To give the pyramid some stability you may want to stack them up on a board instead of the grass. If you have little kids then you are probably safe letting them use a baseball to knock the cans over, but if you have kids that are strong enough to break out the neighbor’s window with a baseball throw gone awry you may want to use a tennis ball and empty cans.

Make your own coin throw. Create different levels using boxes and paint cans. Put glasses and plates on the levels and let the kids throw real or plastic coins and see if they can get them to land in the glasses or on the plates. Bean bags can be recycled from old games. Keep an eye out at garage sales or flea markets for bean bags. Take some sidewalk chalk on the driveway and draw a tic-tac-toe board with a square around it. Depending on the ages of your kids you will create an appropriate throw line. Kids will take turns with their opponent throwing bean bags to try to get 3 across before their opponent does.

Kissing booth that uses no lips. Fill a jar with Hershey’s kisses and put out some paper and pencils for the kids to guess how many kisses are in the jar. At the end of the day the person who comes closest wins the jar.

Water gun firing range. If you’d like to set up two of these you can have two kids go against each other in a timed match, otherwise one will still be a lot of fun. Gather up some recycled Styrofoam from some old packaging and cut it into chunks. Stack up the chunks and put some golf tees into the Styrofoam. Now balance ping pong balls on the golf tees. Create a shooting line using a yard stick or other straight stick. Then supply some inexpensive water guns. The idea is to shoot the ping pong balls off the tees.

Pin drop is a game of luck and dexterity. Take various sizes of recycled jars and determine point values for each jar. Write the point value on a piece of paper and place it on the jar or under the jar. Give each child 3 clothes pins and have them try to drop them into the jars from about 2 feet above the jars. This distance can be adjusted based on the age of the child to make it harder or easier. If a pin goes into a jar the player gets the point total.

Lucky Duck game is fun for little ones. This game is simple enough that almost any age child can play. Gather a bunch of rubber ducks and before you set up the game paint the bottom of one duck red. Put all the ducks into a bucket of water. Kids can take turns trying to find the winning duck.

Bowling for bottles is fun and simple to do. To set up this game you will need to have 10 empty 2 liter bottles. Fill the bottles with a few inches of water so that they will stand up better. Line them up on the driveway or sidewalk just like at the bowling alley. Now you can roll a small basketball at the bottles or use a play bowling ball if you have one. You can even let the kids throw tennis balls at the bottles to knock them over.

Bottle ring toss for prizes. Cut out the centers of some plastic lids to create rings. You can now put a bunch of bottles of Sunny D, Gatorade, Vitamin water, Seltzer water and flavored water close together. Mark a line 5 feet away and let the kids try to toss a ring onto a bottle. If they are able to ring a bottle then they get to keep that bottle. Another way to play this game is to use the cardboard tubes from paper towels or wrapping paper and bury them a couple inches into the ground and let the kids try to get the rings around the tubes. If they get a ringer then they win a ticket.

Buy a package of tickets or make some on your printer to have as prizes. When all the games are done the kids can use their tickets to buy prizes. The prizes can be homemade cookies or brownies to trinkets bought at the dollar store. The kids will have a blast playing all of the games and of course, winning prizes.

Rochelle Humes Welcome Second Child, Daughter Valentina Raine

d2010235-0c90-4be9-a1f0-84ec54c81028

Congrats to Brit TV host and former reality TV star of E!’s Chasing The Saturdays Rochelle Humes on the birth of her second child, a baby girl.

Humes famously waited until she was in her 6th month of pregnancy with her and Radio DJ and ex boy band husband Marvin Humes. to announce the news.

The Saturdays girl band and the former JLS star are already parents to three-year-old daughter Alaia-Mai.

‘The our world is now complete Valentina Raine Humes – Happy birthday little one,” she captioned an Instagram photo of herself cradling her newborn.

In an interview with the Daily MailOnline, Marvin candidly told the site as Rochelle grew closer to her due date that she was “getting zero sleep at night so it could be any day.”

He also confided about the decision to forgo finding out the baby’s sex in advance.

“With Alaia we found out (the sex) early on but with this one we thought we’d keep it a surprise as there’s so little you can keep a surprise in life and really this is life’s most beautiful surprise,” Marvin shared. “We’re really excited, I had a dream the other night that we had a boy and on the same night she had a dream we had a girl. We definitely planned to have number two. We’ve been quite lucky with the timing.”

Rochelle also dished to the press on her decision to stay mum on the pregnancy for so long.

“We wanted to keep it quiet for as long as possible. We told some close friends and they kept their mouth shut so I was impressed,” she added.

On the U.K. panel talk show Loose Women,  the singer gave clues about differences in this pregnancy which would be a clue she was having a baby of a different gender.

“I’m carrying low this time. It’s more up here [pointing to her cleavage] They’ve changed. He likes it more than I do.”

Study: Kids Need Help Deciphering Real from Fake news

img_3219

If you wondered whether we need to do more to help our kids recognize “fake news,” a new report makes it clear the answer is a resounding yes.

Although 44% of tweens and teens in a recent survey said they can tell the difference between fake news stories and real ones, more than 30% who said they shared a news story online during the past six months admitted that they didn’t get it exactly right.

They said they later found out that a story they shared was wrong or inaccurate, according to the survey by Common Sense Media, a nonprofit organization focused on helping parents, kids and educators negotiate media and technology.

The survey of 853 children ages 10 to 18 in the United States also asked kids how much they trust the information they received from each of their news sources.

Family got higher marks than teachers, news organizations and friends. Sixty-six percent of tweens and teens said they trust the information they received from family, compared with 48% for teachers and other adults, 25% for news organizations and just 17% for friends.
