We Can’t Get Enough Of Ciara’s Arrival Carpet Glam

Second-time mom-to-be R&B crooner Ciara has been mixing up her red carpet and event arrival style, not sticking to any one color pallete or look.

Most recently, the designer muse looked regal in a royal red velvet fishtail train dress by Jovani while attending the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscar Party hosted by Graydon Carter at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on February 26, 2017 in Beverly Hills, California.

The day before, the gorgeous model went with a textured off white gown under a champagne chartreuse opera coat  by August Getty Atelier while attending the annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar-viewing party on February 25, 2017 at The City of West Hollywood Park on February 26, 2017 in West Hollywood, California.

She is even staying on trend, donning a black choker to accessorize her black sheer top and on-trend big loose palazzo pants she wore under an Off-White striped duster coat to the Warner Music Group Grammy party at Milk Studios back on February 12, 2017 in Hollywood, California.

And her casual looks are on point too. Usually makeup less, she rocked all black during a date night with the hubby in West Hollywood and was fresh-faced chilling one day in a chic IG pic she posted on her Instagram account a couple weeks ago, and in a recent out-and-about photo with her son Future Zahir on her back.

International Women’s Day and A Day Without Women become A Day Without School too

Today is International Women’s Day, a day created by the United Nations set aside to call attention to the need for equality, education and rights for women worldwide.

This year, a movement has decided to host “A Day Without A Woman” on today in order to call attention to the importance of women to the economy.

Women were encouraged by organizers to wear red, not go to work or spend any money and to engage in solidarity activities.

In some schools systems nationwide, so many teachers and bus drivers called off that school had to be called off for all students today.

Several schools in at least four states were closed Wednesday so teachers can participate in gender equality demonstration.

Although the Day was planned before the US election and the school systems insist that the days off aren’t political, some are equating the movement to a protest against the Trump administration.

It is not without reason because the organizers of the historic Women’s March on Washington in January, which drew hundreds of thousands in protest of Trump, are supporting the strike.

Among the groups supporting Wednesday’s demonstration are Planned Parenthood, MoveOn.org and Amnesty International, according to the Women’s March website.

On Monday, school officials in Alexandria, Va., North Carolina’s Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School District and New York announced they are canceling classes in anticipation of staff shortages due to the event.

 

In a last minute decision, school officials  in Prince George’s County in Maryland closed school for today, Wednesday, after 1,700 teachers asked for the day off to participate in the protest. About 30 percent of the transportation staff also requested an absense.

In Virginia, Alexandria City Public Schools  after more than 300 staff members requested a leave.

“This is not a decision that was made lightly,” Alexandria Superintendent Alvin L. Crawley said in an email Monday to parents.

“We have been closely monitoring requests for leave on March 8, including communicating with school leaders and our education association,” Crawley said. “The decision is based solely on our ability to provide sufficient staff to cover all our classrooms, and the impact of high staff absenteeism on student safety and delivery of instruction. It is not based on a political stance or position.”

The announcement had many parents scrambling to make child care arrangements, or, in some cases, request a leave of absence from work to stay home with their children.

The Alexandria City Public School district’s Facebook page has become a forum for parents to share their opinions over the cancellation of classes.

Ciara has done it again — Taken some stunning maternity portraits in a shoot for a major magazine. Last time, it was for W  but this round, the R&B songstress was joined by her husband Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and her son Future Zahir in a shoot for Harper’s Bazaar fashion magazine.



Shot by famed photographer Dani Brubaker, the results are a mix of edgy editorial black and whites and rich tone fleshy artsy family pics which have caused quite the stir and buzz among her fans, followers and detractors that litter her comment box on her Instagram and other social media accounts.

As Paris Fashion week comes to a close in a day, on the heels of Milan and London Fashion Weeks that just wrapped, we noticed the the color RED is also making a big comeback for the fall.

On the runways of a lot of the biggest designers were shades of rose, magenta, burgundy, tomato, candy and crimson, cherry and blood red. As we did when we realized Yellow is a hit for Spring after New York Fashion Week last month, we’re giving you some of our inspirational picks for how you, a preginista, could rock such a bold hue whilst carrying a baby.

Chrissy Teigen Opens Up About Her Year-Long Battle with PostPartum Depression

In a very candid essay, model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen opens up for the first time about battling postpartum depression, a condition that affects 1 in 9 women, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

In the essay, the Lip Sync Battle co-host talks about being a very happy person and being genuinely ecstatic about starting a family with her husband John Legend. The couple welcomed daughter Luna in April 2016.

But then after her birth, she says she felt “unhappy: for “much of the last year.”

“What basically everyone around me—but me—knew up until December was this: I have postpartum depression. How can I feel this way when everything is so great? I’ve had a hard time coming to terms with that, and I hesitated to even talk about this, as everything becomes such a ‘thing.'” the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model reveals before sharing that as a person who lives her life as an “open book” she felt compelled to share her story:

“I had such a wonderful, energetic pregnancy,” she begins but adds that things turned a bit dark because of disruption at home.

“After I had Luna, our home was under construction, so we lived in a rental home, then a hotel, and I blamed whatever stress or detachment or sadness I was feeling at that time on the fact that there were so many odd circumstances,” Teigen shared. “I remember thinking: ‘Maybe I’ll feel better when we have a home.'”But it didn’t go as expected though she shared how the show was very accommodating:

I went back to work on Lip Sync Battle in August, when Luna was four months. The show treated me incredibly well—they put a nursery in my dressing room and blew up photos of Luna and John and my family for my wall. When Luna was on set, they lowered the noise levels. They turned down the air so she wouldn’t be cold. Only the most gentle knocking on the door. Pump breaks. I mean, there was no better place to get to go back to work to.

Life wasn’t the same, nonetheless.

But I was different than before. Getting out of bed to get to set on time was painful. My lower back throbbed; my ­shoulders—even my wrists—hurt. I didn’t have an appetite. I would go two days without a bite of food, and you know how big of a deal food is for me. One thing that really got me was just how short I was with people.

I would be in my dressing room, sitting in a robe, getting hair and makeup done, and a crew member would knock on the door and ask: “Chrissy, do you know the lyrics to this song?” And I would lose it. Or “Chrissy, do you like these cat ears, or these panda hands?” And I’d be like: “Whatever you want. I don’t care.” They would leave. My eyes would well up and I would burst into tears. My makeup artist would pat them dry and give me a few minutes.

I couldn’t figure out why I was so unhappy. I blamed it on being tired and possibly growing out of the role: “Maybe I’m just not a goofy person anymore. Maybe I’m just supposed to be a mom.”

And the feeling transcended work and home:

When I wasn’t in the studio, I never left the house. I mean, never. Not even a tiptoe outside. I’d ask people who came inside why they were wet. Was it raining? How would I know—I had every shade closed. Most days were spent on the exact same spot on the couch and rarely would I muster up the energy to make it upstairs for bed. John would sleep on the couch with me, sometimes four nights in a row. I started keeping robes and comfy clothes in the pantry so I wouldn’t have to go upstairs when John went to work. There was a lot of spontaneous crying.

My daughter GiGi (pictured below) headed off to school with a pack provided complimentary of the company in exchange for the review. Indeed, the material was quality and the hardware was durable. It is light weight and not too heavy. A lot of back packs weigh a lot even while empty but after a child adds their books and perhaps a laptop or other tablet in there, it can be very hard for him or her to carry.

Designer Nicole Miller Hit With Pregnancy Discrimination Lawsuit

Pregnancy is not in fashion at Nicole Miller, a lawsuit charges.

A former high-level employee of the Midtown-based women’s fashion line alleges that its eponymous president took an “unsympathetic and truly reprehensible disposition” toward a pregnant staffer.

Wendy Simchi-Levi, 34, says in the suit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court that she was an employee in good standing, reporting directly to Miller, until she revealed she was 20 weeks pregnant with twins in September.

During the meeting, Miller noted that Simchi-Levi had been hired in July, the suit claims.

“Oh, so you knew you were pregnant when you interviewed?” Miller asked, according to papers.

“The disdain in Ms. Miller’s voice was impossible to miss,” the suit adds.

“You won’t want to come back to work after having twins,” Miller allegedly said.

 The statement “evinces Ms. Miller’s undeniable discriminatory animus,” papers charge.

Following that conversation, Miller ostracized Simchi-Levi, even refusing to address her directly during meetings, papers claim.

“Nicole hates you,” Simchi-Levi’s co-workers allegedly told her.

Bump Watch: Beyonce and Family Hit Up ‘The Beauty and The Beast’ Premiere

The Carter-Knowles family hit up the premiere of the new live action Beauty and The Beast Disney movie last week.

The trio, consisting of Beyonce, husband Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy entered the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood Thursday night with the rest of the cast also attending the opening night of the film.

Queen Bey was outfitted in an emerald green flowy empire-waist Gucci gown with a plunging neckline. Daughter Blue had a matching tiered frock that some sites say is a custom-made riff on a $26,ooo Gucci frock from their Fall/Winter 2016 collection. After the event, an impromptu photo shoot was in order, of course.

The pop icon shared photos on her social media account which has been re-shared by various Beygency affiliates.

Mrs. Carter is expecting a pair of twins later this year.

VA Dad Who Wore Fake Belly to Gym to Empathize with Wife Welcomes Son!

One Virginia dad-to-be took pregnancy empathy to another level when he decided to don a fake baby belly while working out with his wife at their Virginia Cross Fit gym.

When 9-months pregnant, Kristin Milchuck headed out to the gym every morning six days a week with her husband Blake Milchuck. One day, one of the couple’s coaches at at CrossFit Krypton in their hometown of Chesapeake, Virginia, suggested that Blake sport a faux belly to really see what it’s like for his wife at the gym.

He strapped a 14-pound medicine ball with duct tape and began their work out, which included running, modified burpees, rowing and biking.

 “It was different,” Blake Milchuck told ABC News. “You definitely feel the frontal load, so things that I can normally do pretty easily weren’t as easy.”

The gym made a video of Blake’s workout which quickly went viral on Instagram with more than 18,000 people watching the funny video.

 Blake said the experiment helped him appreciate his wife and it helped her laugh, which “was the main purpose,” he added.

 “It’s different at times to understand where your wife is coming from with the pregnancy … so doing something like this makes it a little bit more fun for her, which makes it fun for me,” Blake Milchuck added.

The couple welcomed a baby boy they named Brayden.

“Its a Boy….Were a little tired after our first day with Brayden but have loved every second of the experience,” Blake captioned a joyful photo of the family yesterday evening. “@kmilchuck killed the pregnancy game and is already killing the mom game. #fullheadofhair #doinggreat”

By now the couple should have welcomed their newest addition which is due around this time. Sweet story!

Redskins Quarterback Kirk Cousins and wife Expecting First Child

As a native Washingtonian, I had to blogged about the last Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and his wife and their first pregnancy, so I would be remiss if I didn’t share the news that the team’s newest quarterback, Kirk Cousins and his wife Julie Cousins are expecting their first kid.

Julie shared her pregnancy announcement on her Instagram account with the assistance of the couple’s pooch.

In the adorable photo, the family dog is sitting on a lawn chair with a sign that reads, “mom and dad are getting me a human.”

The couple married in 2014 after Kirk proposed in DC, appropriately in a balcony of the Capitol overlooking the Washington Mall.

Sadly, RGII and his college sweetheart wife Rebecca Liddicot are divorcing. Currently the quarterback for the Cleveland browns, RGIII told his teammates last year that he and his wife had hit a brick wall in their marriage and planned to end it.
