Woman Copies Viral Photo for her Pregnancy Announcement, it goes Viral too

pregnancy announcement

After undergoing several rounds of  in vitro fertilization (IVF) and taking fertility pills to try to get pregnant following a miscarriage, finally got pregnant.

Inspired by a viral photo posted the fertility clinic of Sher Institute last year, Rodeffer put her own success story on social media. She decided to model her pregnancy announcement after the viral photo.  She arranged the empty pill bottles and syringes in the shape of a heart, and positioned a photo of her latest sonogram and a onesie with the words “Worth the wait and wait and wait” inside in an Instagram photo.

Her photo too, posted a month ago actually, has gone viral now that a bunch of media outlets are finally reporting about it.

“I was adamant that my announcement not only show my joy and thankfulness, but also the struggle that it took to get there,” she told Inquisitor. “I wanted to acknowledge the struggle that anyone dealing with infertility goes through.”

12 Celebrity Women Who Didn’t Rush to Peel Off Pregnancy Weight

clockwise: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Vanessa Simmons, P!nk, Christina Aguilera, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Reese Witherspoon, Shakira, Kerry Washington, Hilary Duff, Tamera Mowry-Housley, Jessica Simpson and Kristen Bell, all took their time to shed pregnancy weight gain.

There is tremendous pressure on women to get back to pre-pregnancy size after having a baby. Celebrities who make their living by looking a certain way are under even more pressure. Many succumb and take extreme measures to peel off the weight. We’ve heard rumors about post-C-section liposuction, stomach stapling and other tactics being used. It doesn’t help that many gossip magazines love to flaunt post-baby celebs on their covers, sort of tauntingly telling other women they should be able to do the same.

Then there are those who do not buckle to the same exceptions and take their time. Christina Aguilera embraced her post baby curves but then was slammed heavily by the public and critics who were used to seeing her 100 lb frame from when she first launched her music career a decade earlier. She eventually dropped most of the weight but still remained an advocate for women to take care of themselves first.

“Mothers are constantly expected to be the nurturers, the givers, the providers of a comfortable home,” she told  Women’s Health magazine. “We’re expected to be pregnant, have the kids, breastfeed once we have the babies. And we’re expected to look amazing after baby, right? Keep our husbands and boyfriends interested – because we’re supposed to get back to sexy and keep things exciting in the bedroom. There’s such a long list.”

The platinum-album selling powerhouse singer added that deprivation is not the thing.

“I’m not into deprivation; I’m not into suffering into getting a great body or the body that you want,” The Voice coach said. “I’m into enjoying life, being conscious and aware, but also breathing into yourself and owning what you got.”

It was not the first time she had to get active  and defend her weight.

Before she even became a mother, back in 2002, during the promotion of her album “Stripped” in 2002, she told Billboard magazine,” I got tired of being a skinny, white girl.”  She added after gaining 15 pounds and returning for a break browner and with piercings, the label lost it and told her if she didn’t lose the weight people, some people would be out of a job because she wouldn’t sell albums any longer. Aguilera buckled but later, older reclaimed her confidence and didn’t let them control her body any longer.

“I am Ecuadorian but people felt so safe passing me off as a skinny, blue-eyed white girl,” the Daily Mail reported her saying. ‘You are working with a fat girl. Know it now and get over it.’They need a reminder sometimes that I don’t belong to them. It’s my body…My body can’t put anyone in jeopardy of not making money anymore—my body is just not on the table that way anymore.”

Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt also didn’t rush to shed the baby weight. She acknowledged it takes a lot of time to recover after a baby.

“I’ve been doing Zumba, and I’ve worked it out so the baby’s been doing Zumba with me,” Hewitt told US Weekly in 2014. “We dance together, and I carry her as a weight so we’ve been having fun that way. The body takes about six months to fully come back so I haven’t wanted to injure myself so I’ve been swimming because it’s low impact on my system.”

Hilary Duff kept it real with her fans when she shared how tough she had it trying to get back into shape. “’20 minutes on the elliptical seems like an eternity!!! What the hell…’,she shared in a tweet.

Kristen Bell famously told Redbook magazine after giving birth to her first child, daughter Lincoln, in 2013.

“I’d like to get back down to where I was before the baby,” she said. “But if this is where my body wants to be, so be it. I’m not going to make myself miserable for the rest of my life trying to get back to where I was before.”

In 2011, Tisha Campbell-Martin opened up about working hard to unpeel 40 extra pounds she gained during her second pregnancy. Her post baby weight gain was actually worked into the plot while she was on My Wife & Kids.

In 2015, P!nk too had to call out social media critics of her weight gain. “I feel beautiful,” she clapped back at them. “So, my good and concerned peoples, please don’t worry about me (sic). I’m not worried about me. And I’m not worried about you either. I am perfectly fine, perfectly happy, and my healthy, voluptuous and crazy strong body is having some much deserved time off.”

Last year, Kerry Washington also opened up about not rushing to get back to pre-baby size. “I’ve been really focused on not being ‘back’ to anything, but being the best version of myself right now,” she said in an issue of Self magazine. My body is the site of a miracle now. I don’t want to be pre-miracle.”

Jessica Simpson, Tamera Mowry-Housley, Reese Witherspoon and Vanessa Simmons all looked beautiful carrying the extra pounds and didn’t let the noisy body-shaming critics get to them. Bravo ladies! It’s wonderful to see influential women being healthy body role models.

Pregnant with a New Kardashian, Blac Chyna is now A Paparazzi Magnet (VIDEO)

blac

You know what I recently noticed? Now that Blac Chyna is carrying the next generation of Kardashians in her womb, she has been getting the Kardashian paparazzi treatment. When we covered her first pregnancy with her son King with rapper Tyga back in 2012, she didn’t get a fraction of the photographers following her every move as she gets now.

Also, these days, as I monitor pregnancy news to report on, I’ve noticed it is now filled with news about every cough, quiver and shake that she makes. I call it, the Kardashian effect. Love them or hate them, this family is the most photographed on earth, I believe.

I mean these guys are following her around all day. She and her fiance Rob Kardashian are expecting their first child together. This will be his first. See the video of a day in the life. Chyna’s new normal.

Fashion Secrets to Wearing White While Preggers

white memorial day

Memorial Day is traditionally the trigger day that you can wear white again.

That is the case if you pay attention to conventional fashion rules. I don’t, but it’s totally okay if you do. Moms-to-be may be hesitant wearing white while pregnant. Typically, as women gain weight as they advance in their pregnancy, they stick to basic black and all black palette because that color is slimming. Actually, monochromatic in any color has a slimming effect because it eliminates curves and creates one line. It also makes you look taller.

Nowadays, slim jeans made with stretchy elastic are available in maternity styles as well. These types of jeans will cinch you in and the compression effect is actually comforting to achy pregnancy legs, believe it or not. A peasant top with some embroidered trim at the neckline or cuff would pair perfectly.

And these days I am obsessing over Converse and other hi top sneakers. Carry a White tote and you’ve got your complete Memorial Day cook out look!

Ariah Housley makes Her TV Co-Hosting Debut on ‘The Real’

tamera ariah

Nine-months old Ariah Housley made her TV co-hosting debut today when she joined her mom Tamera Mowry-Housley on the set of her FOX daytime talk show  , Tuesday, May 17th.

Decked out in matching pink and a floral headband like her mom, the cute cherub sat in her own chair during the segment called “Girl Chat”. During the segment, the hosts contemplate how they’d look bald or with short hair and share their thoughts about people giving parenting advice who don’t have children of their own.

It was too cute. Here is a teaser we got yesterday in case you missed it.

Memorial Day: Pool Opening Safety Tips for Kids

safety tips

Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of pool season again because most public and private pools open for the first time in the year. It’s a good time for parents to review their water and pool safety rules.

Here is a snippet of some tips we’ve shared from the now-defunct “Parenting the First Time Through” blog:

Never leave a child unsupervised Children should never be left unsupervised in the water, especially very young children. It only takes a few inches of water to drown, so don’t think that your toddler will be fine alone in the baby pool. Accidents happen, children can fall and hit their head, infants can lose their balance and go under, or even crawl into a slightly deeper section of a sloped wading pool while chasing a toy. ‘

In its Drowning Prevention Fact Sheet, Safekids.org states that since 1999, an average of 745 children under the age of 14 drown every year, with children under the age of 5 representing 76% of all deaths. Further, in 2009 more than 5000 children under the age of 14 suffered non-fatal near-drowning injuries. Children under 5 made up 80% of this number.

These numbers are startling and should be a call to vigilance for parents, especially those who own pools at home. Safekids.org goes on to say 72% of deaths and 55% of injuries occur at home pools under the age of 5, while 45% of fatalities in the older age bracket (5 to 14) occur at public facilites. Even inflatable pools are not exempt. In just those few inches of water there were 244 reported submersion cases between 2001 and 2009 in children under age 11.

Don’t count on the lifeguards to babysit – While public pools and beaches may employ lifeguards, don’t count on them as the sole supervisor of your children. They are there to help make the swimming area as safe an environment as possible for everyone. That means they are watching not just your children, but you, your friends, your friends’ children, and every other swimmer. That’s a lot of people.

Holly Madison on Her Pregnancy Diet with Baby #1 Compared to Baby #2

holly madison rainbow

Holly Madison is expecting her second child, a baby boy this time and on her latest E! Pregnancy Blog post, she shared how she recently discovered that each pregnancy is indeed different. She figured it out because her pregnancy diet and cravings are so vastly different.  During her first pregnancy, the former star of The Girls Next Door and Holly’s World on E! said she craved smoothies and healthy stuff, but for this pregnancy, she’s only interested in eating unhealthy stuff and junk food.

Here are both of her “Pregnancy Diets.” “If you can, I would follow the first one!” she pens:

Breakfast 1: Blueberry Green Smoothie: -1 cup water, -1 cup blueberries, -1 cup spinach, 1 banana

Breakfast 2: Escape to Starbucks for an Americano for my maximum daily caffeine allowance and the only thing that doesn’t make me nauseous, a.k.a. a carb, such as a slice of pumpkin bread…which we all know is basically a dessert loaf.

Lunch 1: Organic Kale Salad with oil-free vinaigrette dressing and a bowl of red pepper and tomato soup.

Lunch 2: This is where I make a secret run to a fast food joint, such as Taco Bell, In-n-Out, or the chicken-sandwich-joint-which-shall-not-be-named. Be sure and throw away any evidence before you get back to your house. And drive home with the windows down to get rid of that fast food smell. Who needs the judgment?

Console yourself with the fact that you are taking your daily prenatal vitamin and DHA supplement. For those of you with a sweet tooth, I highly recommend Honest Company’s calcium and vitamin D gummies…they are seriously good!

Snack 1: green smoothie: -1 cup spinach, -1 cup kale, -1 cup water, -1 banana, -2 apples

Snack 2: choke down an organic green juice, preferably while holding your nose. Concentrate on keeping it down by reminding yourself how good this is for the baby.

Dinner 1: Homemade vegan lasagna

Dinner 2: order dairy-free Pinkberry from Postmates

Ha! So there you have it! We think the difference could have to do with the fact she is expecting a child of a different gender this round. Go figure!

Madison is expecting her second child with husband Pasquale Rotella. Their daughter, Rainbow Aurora Rotella, was born in 2013.

After a Mid-Life Divorce: 7 Things to Do to Bounce Back

DIVORCE

Women spend so much of life nurturing and giving to others that when they find themselves alone—because of an empty nest, the end of a marriage, or the death of a partner—they often struggle with feeling purposeless. The problems of recently-divorced mid-lifers in particular are many.  Is there a way to overcome this sense of loss and move toward a life filled with connectedness, fulfillment and happiness?

Workshop facilitator and speaker Patti Clark, author of This Way Up: Seven Tools for Unleashing Your Creative Self and Transforming Your Life has been dedicated to helping women through various life transitions for more than 20 years. She identifies 7 key actions that women can take right now to move through this sense of loss and toward a life filled with more enthusiasm, creativity, and joy.

  1. Get Creative!
    journal
  • Journal – buy a journal you love the feel of and write in it every morning – externalize your internal process.
  • Play with color – buy some colored pens or pastels and just play with the color, see which colors you are attracted to, don’t judge the outcome, don’t try to draw a stunning picture, just play with color.
  • Doodle – get some pencils and doodle circles and lines and squiggles; get lost in the process, the end result doesn’t matter.
  • Garden – play outside.  Go get your hands dirty, just dig for a while, plant a small herb garden, plant a flower, play in the dirt.
  • Dance, move to music. No one to watch you or judge, just listen to a song you like and move, feel the music move through you.
  • Cook, play with spices. Experiment, don’t follow a recipe, cook with some spices that smell good.
  • Sew. Don’t try to make anything in particular, just play with putting fabrics together, enjoy the texture and color.
  1. Start Re-Wiring your brain – Pay attention to how and what you think
    picnoi-cafe
  • Identify the thought process you’d like to transform and set the intention to  change it
  • Observe/pay attention to what thoughts you want to change and why – what is the negative impact on your life
  • Shift your focus when those negative thoughts arise
  • Use your imagination – think about something positive, create a positive scenario
  • Interrupt your thoughts and patterns when the negative thoughts arise.
  • Create a specific plan and choose what to do instead of dwelling on the negative thoughts
  • Look within for inspiration and support; practice meditation and visualization.

3. Be Happy Now  – specific steps toward well being

Birds eye view of a woman gardener weeding an organic vegetable garden with a hand fork.

  • Practice Resilience – Resilience is the rapidity with which we recover from adversity; research shows that meditation improves our capacity for resilience. Focus on recovering – small steps forward every day.
  • Look at your Outlook – Refers to the ability to see the positive in others, the ability to savor positive experiences, the ability to see another human being as a human being who has innate basic goodness, the ability to say “She means well” and mean it.
  • Where is your Attention – What do you generally pay attention to? Researchers found that people spend an average of 47 per cent of their waking life not paying attention to what they’re doing! Focus on what you’re doing right now – pay attention, savor the moment
  • Practice Generosity – Data shows us that when individuals engage in generous and altruistic behavior, they actually activate circuits in the brain that are key to fostering well-being.  Volunteer, help others
  • Get Outside Garden – play in the dirt and get your hands dirty; spend time on the beach, take a walk in the woods.
  • Exercise – moving your body lifts your mood
  • Surround yourself with happy people – who you hang out with matters
  1. Focus on Love and Love Yourself First

reading

  • Focus on your own needs. Practice saying ‘No’ to others and ‘Yes’ to yourself.
  • Give your body the nurturing, rest, and comfort it needs.
  • Prioritize time for yourself, time to do what you love, without judgment that it is a waste of time; and set boundaries to protect the time you have prioritized for yourself.
  • Don’t keep blaming yourself for past mistakes, learn from them and let them go.
  • Dream big! Dream without editing, without judgment, without feeling that you ‘don’t deserve it.’
  • Choose to spend time with people who put your up, not down.
  • Read books and watch movies that make you feel good about yourself.
  1. Be Grateful for what you have now

woman-spelling-rose

  • Start each day, before you get out of bed, by saying one thing that you are grateful for.
  • Keep a Gratitude Journal—Establish a daily practice in which you write down 3 things a day that you are thankful for
  • Use Visual Reminders—The two primary obstacles to gratefulness are forgetfulness and a lack of mindful awareness, so visual reminders can serve as cues to trigger thoughts of gratitude.
  • Remember the Bad—Sometimes it is helpful to remember the hard times that you once experienced and how far you have come.
  • Thank at least one person a day for something they have done. Practice gratitude consciously.
  • Call someone once a week to thank them for something kind they have done.
  • Make a conscious decision to practice gratitude—Research shows that making an oath to perform a behavior increases the likelihood that it will happen.
  1. Pay attention to your distractions
    coloring book

  • Instead of hopping on to Facebook, (just a quick peak to see if anyone likes me today)– UNHOOK – one of the best ways to get back in touch with your self is to give yourself a full day off unhooked. Give yourself a 24 hour no phone, no computer day. Journal, walk, draw, unhook!
  • Instead of having just one more glass of wine… go for a walk at sunset instead of making 5:00 happy hour with wine, make it a happy half hour walk.
  • Instead of watching TV, even when there is nothing on that you want to watch … try using an Adult coloring book – it’s creative, playful and proven to reduce stress
  • Instead of shoving food – any food – in your mouth … volunteer to feed others.  Practicing volunteering and service helping others is a great way to feel better about yourself.
  • Instead of shopping, (one more pair of shoes will make me feel better) . . . take time to decide where you would really like to help the world, what problem touches you deeply, then donate that money to a good cause that will serve toward a solution that you will feel good about.
  • Instead of getting insanely busy doing anything else but sitting still… just sit still and breathe. Time yourself – give yourself 10 minutes to watch clouds go by; to watch a sunset; or watch flames in a fire.
  • Even exercise can be a way to avoid getting to know ourselves better… Instead of going out for another run, try sitting quietly and just breathing, and when the urge to jump up feels overwhelming, take another deep breath and just sit and feel where the discomfort is and sit through it.
  1. Inspiration is a soft whisper and a gentle nudge – learn to pay better attention when inspiration comes – and most importantly take action on the inspiration when it does come

lady-and-dog

  • Wake up 5-10 minutes earlier than you normally do. Close you eyes and ask for any guidance for the day.  That quiet time just upon waking is prime time to access inspiration
  • Allow yourself 10-15 minutes a day (longer is better) to get lost in the flow of something – doodling, playing an instrument, playing with clay, coloring (Zen Adult Coloring Books are great for this) – in this flow time inspiration often comes.
  • Get quiet, look within for 10 minutes a day. This doesn’t have to be hard – it can be done by walking in nature, by sitting quietly watching a sunset, watching flames in a fire, or just closing your eyes and breathing.
  • Ask yourself a question that you want guidance on then go for a walk and pay attention – perhaps you’ll meet someone on your walk or you’ll see something that gives you a flash of inspiration.
  • Start every morning with an intention. Set the intention deliberately and then pay attention to anything during the day that happens around that intention.
  • Take action on any inspiration that comes.  Learn to trust that small, still voice and then act on it. The more you listen for your inspiration and take action on it, the more you will trust it and it will become easier to take action on.
  • Journal about any inspiration and action that you took before you go to bed. Ask for any guidance before you go to sleep. Journal in the morning about any insights from dreams or interesting thoughts upon waking.

Angela Simmons Dodges Those Pesky Pregnancy Rumors

angela simmons

Ever since former MTV Reality TV star of Run’s House and Daddy’s Little Girls star Angela Simmons announced her engagement to a mystery man on Instagram, rumors have been flying that she is expecting a child.

Last Friday, TMZ cornered the Pastry shoes co-founder Foofi and Bella owner and brand ambassador about the rumors. Her cryptic answer will only fuel them more.

“I don’t care about them,” Simmons told a TMZ photographer Friday when asked about the pregnancy rumors. “I don’t know. I’m not saying nothing. I’m not confirming nothing.”

Folks are also speculating over her recent social media photos in which she is wearing less revealing clothing than she usually posts herself in, and this recent video of her doing the new Running Man challenge with her back to the camera as clues.

She also hasn’t confirmed who her fiance is although gossip site Bossip claims it is a man named Sulton Tennyson and Rolling Out speculates it is Namibian businessman, Knowledge Katti, the executive vice president of Giyani Gold Corp.

“YES!! I couldn’t be more excited. This is only something I could of only dreamed of,” she captioned her Instagram post about the engagement. “I’m over the moon and feeling so blessed to be able to share my life with the one I truly love. Everything happened in the most perfect way.

Whomever is the lucky man (or soon-to-be-daddy), congrats!
