Whitney Port Cries About the Pain of Breastfeeding In New Video

The Hills alum Whitney Port is still keeping it 100 about her first time mom experience even after giving birth.

After welcoming her first child Sonny, Port is still vlogging her series, “I Love My Baby But…”. In her latest edition, the former star of the MTV reality Tv show The City talks about how painful it has been to breastfeee her child.

In a video posted on her YouTube page on Thursday, Port breaks down in tears over the pain which is very common even for new moms.

“I think I’m just tired,” she said. “And I obviously want to breastfeed. I don’t know [why]. I honestly think it’s, I guess because that’s what people say, like, is the best bonding experience.”

It has been a problem since the beginning apparently. Port said breastfeeding was difficult from the beginning.

“I thought I was doing really well and the nurses there said that the latch was good and I was like, really surprised but after about 24 to 48 hours of doing it, I just started to get so incredibly painful and we came home and I just like hit a breaking point and said, ‘I can’t do this. It feels like someone’s like, slicing my nipples with glass,'” Port said.

New Reality TV Puts Cameras in Hands of Expectant Couples

In a new innovative show on the UP family cable network, three expecting couples capture their experience in a groundbreaking reality TV/docu series, called Expecting.

  • There are no producers, editing or major production. Just the couples sharing their moments, themselves! lol

The show riffs off the idea that modern expectant parents often go online to post, view and share every pregnancy milestone from positive test results, to the frantic drive to the hospital, to the main event itself.

According to a press release, “Expecting is the first show that asks couples to turn the lens on themselves, to give the audience a peek into one of life’s most exciting and personal journeys. With unprecedented intimacy, viewers witness the highs and lows culminating in one of life’s biggest moments.”

In the pilot, viewers will follow the journeys of Kelsey and Corbin Scott of Portland, Oregon; Tia and Tre Patterson of Atlanta, Georgia; and Ashley and Thomas Hughes of Pleasant View, Utah.

Expecting is produced in partnership with Entertainment One (eOne). Executive Producers for eOne are Aynsley Vogel, Cal Shumiatcher and Jessica Mathies.

Expecting will premiere on Labor Day, naturally, will be followed by an all new Bringing Up Bates Babies Special at 9:30 p.m. ET on September 4th.

Gal Gadot Talks Her Wonder Woman Bump In Rolling Stones

Actress Gal Gadot covers this month’s edition of Rolling Stone magazine and inside, she talks once again about having to hide her baby bump while filming her hit summer blockbuster, Wonder Woman.

The former beauty pageant queen shared a commonly shared anecdote about the funny lengths the film’s technical team put her through to hide her pregnant belly when she was expecting her now 5-month-ol daughter Maya.

“We cut open the costume and had this green screen on my stomach,” revealed Gaeltacht, who previously served in the Israeli military before striking it big as an actress. “It was funny as hell—Wonder Woman with a bump.”

Gadot will reprise her role on the upcoming film, The Justice League  with Ben Affleck as “Batman“, Ezra Miller as “The Flash and Jason Momoa as “Aquaman”, and others.

The actress, 32, and husband Yaron Versano are also parents to 5-year-old daughter Alma.

4 Very Popular Recording Artists That Wrote Lyrics About Miscarriage and Pregnancy Loss

Earlier this year, we blogged about the fact that Harry Styles‘ first single off his self-titled debut solo album, “Sign of The Times” is about a woman dying in childbirth  and this week, we reminded you that Lady Antebellum‘s Hillary Scott penned “Thy Will”to to help herself cope with her 2016 miscarriage.

But did you know there have been a couple of famous rappers who have also released songs with lyrics about pregnancy loss, fertility and miscarriage?

Shawn “Jay Z” Carter might just takes the prize for doing it the most.

In his recent song, 4:44, off the same-titled album, the platinum-selling chart-topper seemingly blames himself for his wife’s Beyonce’s miscarriages and losses by rapping, “I apologize for all the stillborns/ ‘Cause I wasn’t present, your body wouldn’t accept it.”

It’s more likely he was being colloquial and was probably referencing the miscarriages and not stillborn which occur in less than 1% of all pregnancies and happens when a baby is born deceased after 20 weeks gestation.

Later on in that same song, he raps about the praises of having twins, naturally, an acknowledgment is probably an indicator that the duo were anticipating getting help with their fertility from science via IVF.

“Look, I apologize often womanize / Took for my child to be born / See through a woman’s eyes / Took for these natural twins to believe in miracles / Took me too long for this song / I don’t deserve you,” he rapped.

This is not the first time the biz mogul has penned lyrics about pregnancy loss. In 2012, his song “Glory” also addressed a miscarriage Beyonce had before the couple found success and finally welcomed their first child, Blue Ivy Carter.

“False alarms and false starts /All made better by the sound of your heart / All the pain of the last time / I prayed so hard it was the last time,” he opens up in the song.

Later on in the song, he raps, “Last time the miscarriage was so tragic We was afraid you’d disappear, but nah, baby, you magic,” referring to the fear that Blue would have been miscarried too.

Tender huh?

Female rapper Nicki Minaj also seemingly opened up  about a child she lost either to abortion or miscarriage in her 2014 song “All Things Go” on her album “The Pinkprint.

While referencing her baby as an angel watching over her baby brother Micaiah, (who she calls Caiah), she raps:  “I want Caiah to go to college just to say we did it,” she raps about her younger brother Micaiah then adds, “My child with Aaron, would’ve been 16 any minute / So in some ways I feel like Caiah is the both of them / It’s like he’s Cai’s little angel looking over him.”

In a Rolling Stones article published that year also, the Queens native reveals that she had an abortion at age 15 and that she remains haunted by it:

Minaj’s first love was an older guy from Queens she dated while attending the prestigious Manhattan performing-arts high school LaGuardia. When she discovered she was pregnant, “I thought I was going to die,” she admits.

“I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I’d ever gone through.” Minaj says about the decision that “haunted me all my life,” though it was the right choice for her at the time. “It’d be contradictory if I said I wasn’t pro-choice. I wasn’t ready. I didn’t have anything to offer a child.”

It was never confirmed, but a few folks hypothesized she was singing bout that same child in that song.

Pregnancy Loss is still quite taboo so it’s great awareness building to have A-List stars include it in lyrics to their music, we think.

Rihanna Sierra Leone Mudslide Story was ‘Fake News’

The former journalist in me hates to have to report about “fake news”, a  term that has become a political pejorative and assigned to very real, First-Amendment protected, credible news organizations as well as to the army of fraudulent, fabricated sites created for the mere purpose of circulating propaganda and false news stories.

However, we have to apologize for and update on reporting on this blog that Rihanna‘s charity, the Clara Lionel Foundation, donated $2M to help the victims of Sierra Leone, West Africa’s landslide last week.

The mudslide is considered one of Africa’s worst flooding-related disasters in recent history.

The false claims about Rihanna’s donation originally appeared on a website called Global News in an article called “Rihanna donates whopping sum of money to Sierra Leone’s mudslide victims“.  It was shared widely and also covered by the news site Barbados Today, though it had not received wide coverage in reputable national outlets.

Given the fact that the Sierra Leone landslide had gone relatively under reported generally, among these major news publications, we didn’t think too much about reporting on the donation and only did so after seeing it published by an online new outlet native to the pop singer’s birth nation, Barbados.

Unfortunately, it was a false article based on made up facts and quotes, apparently. The Barbados Today article has been taken down as has ours.

A representative of Rihanna’s foundation told Bellyitch, “like many around the world, we are devastated by the tragic mudslide in Sierra Leone. Yet, we have to address that the entirety of the story reported in Barbados Today and later re-posted on Global News is untrue and completely inaccurate.”

It is disappointing in several aspects, but especially because the “fake news” created some false hopes among victims that there was substantial relief coming their way; and that momentum was building so more would care to help.

Alas, that is not the case.

The article posted on the blog has been removed but the other organizations that are gathering supplies, and helping continue.

The latter part of the article still applies and therefore, we are reposting that here:

The death toll includes those killed in mudslides on the outskirts of the West Africa. The country’s president Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma sent out a global plea to all nations to help.

Nearby African leaders of other nations stepped up first.

The president of Guinea Alpha Conde visited and with the Sierra Leone president Koroma visited survivors and rescue workers at the site in Regent, as award-winning anti-FGM (female genital mutilation) campaigner Alimatu Dimonekene wrote for International Business Times.

Other neighboring nations like Senegal and Ivory Coast sent high powered delegates to discuss aid and assess needs.

Non African nations that sent supplies and support include Israel, which was the first country to send an envoy of supplies and Turkey.

As can be expected, expats from Sierra Leone the UK, France, Germany and the US have launched several efforts to help.

I’m aware of and can endorse the AC Global initiative, the Mama-Pikini Organization, and Act for Sierra Leone and urge any individual wanting to help to donate to one of these groups.

As a Catholic, I support the Catholic Relief Service, which is usually great about making sure the bulk of support go to victims and not to programmatic support like salaries and travel for staff.

Ideally, more attention will mean more help and help getting to the victims. I’m grateful to Rihanna because maybe more celebs will step up.

“First of all, it is the right thing to do. We have the ability, and with a relatively small effort, and relatively small budget, we can make a big difference,” Paul Hirschson, leader of Israel’s envoy of help said. “That is the first and foremost reason.”

The next stage of Israel’s assistance will be to provide antibiotics to deal with concerns of an outbreak of cholera, and hopefully by then, more countries will also offer tangible relief and help.

Celebrity Eclipse-Watched In Style and On Instagram

It seems like everyone and their mamas were out celebrating and trying to get a glimpse of the Total Solar Eclipse yesterday.

Celebrities included.

Some took to their social media accounts to share their experience with their fans and followers.

Others used the hashtag to show off their fab bodies, fashion-centered poses or add to their perfectly color-coordinated Instagram accounts like…

Kim Kardashian-West, who shared a photo of herself and two cute kids North and Saint in a brown, black and Pink color scheme shot.

Snooki who looked fabulous and posed upside down on her deck, we think.

La La Anthony showed off her hot bod on a deck too overlooking the water. Grrrrrr!

At least Niceole Richie was upfront, by posting a fashion pic under the caption, “The Eclipse was yesterday” LOL!

Busy Phillips says her daughter Cricket took this fab shot. Good job, kiddo!

Kerry Washington and her Scandal co-stars watched together.

Savannah Guthrie also checked it out with her TODAY co-workers.

Tez Palmer (above) and Brooklyn Decker (below) shared cool skyward silhouette shots.

Fun Times!

Lady Antebellum Hillary Scott is Having Twins Too; Watch Her Sweet Announcement

Lady Antebellum‘s Hillary Scott is the latest celebrity expecting twins!

The country singer and  her husband Chris Tyrrell announced on Friday that they are expecting twins by posting a very cute video of the two of them explaining the double blessing to their  4-year-old daughter, Eisele Kaye.

“You know how you’ve been praying a lot about having a baby and about God giving our family another baby?” Tyrrell says to Eisele  in the video. “Well … God has answered that prayer, and Mommy is pregnant with a baby in her belly”.

It’s welcome news for Scott who suffered a miscarriage not long ago.

She wrote the song “Thy Will” to help herself heal.

“I wrote this song in the middle of experiencing everything that comes with a miscarriage, so it was at my most raw place that I could have ever been when this song truly poured out of me,” she shared about the song.

But in the same twin announcement Instagram post, Scott captioned, “God has answered our family’s countless prayers! Our family is growing … Chris, Eisele, and I wanted to share our DOUBLE portion of joy with you all!”

She added, “Chris nor I have any family history of twins that we can find and are just resting in the profound gift this truly is.”

We Love Kristen Bell’s Comments on De-Stigmatizing Mental Health Treatment for Moms

The Good Place‘s Kristen Bell was on The Real daytime panel show this week and we love what she said about the importance of treating anxiety and depression with any other disease or condition that has less stigma.

While visiting the ladies which include our bumpwatch alum Tamera Mowry-Housley and our other alum as a guest panelist, Melanie Brown, Bell shared her feelings about feeling inadequate about being a parent.

Actually, the Veronica Mars alum speaks often about destimatizing mental health problems by sharing her own experiences.

“I talk to someone and we have a check in once a year,” Bell opened up. “I take a pill if I need to. I make sure to exercise. I basically know my issue.”

Perhaps to counter the shame that is associated with seeing a therapist and taking psychosomatic drugs, Bell said, “It’s like for me, knowing if you have Diabetes. You wouldn’t deny a diabetic medicine.”

She also expressed what I think is beautiful about her union with hubby Dax Shepard who is a super supportive husband.

“If I have spent four days on the couch, my husband goes, ‘hey you want to go for a hike or do you want to go out with your girlfriend?,'” Bell shared,  before adding, “You have to stay aware and take care of yourself.”
