More Twin News: Madonna Adopts 4-year Old Girls from Malawi

One week: three celebrity twin news! Beyonce and Jay-Z; Amal and George Clooney and now….

This time, pop icon Madonna recently announced that she has officially adopted twin girls from Malawi, the land of birth of her 11-year old adopted daughter  and son Mercy and David Blanda.

She posted an Instagram photo of herself holding her 4-year old girls’ hands, she in a yellow frock under a light cardigan and they in matching blue polka dot dresses.

“I can officially confirm I have completed the process of adopting twin sisters from Malawi and am overjoyed that they are now part of our family,” the Material Girl captioned the photo.  “I am deeply grateful to all those in Malawi who helped make this possible, and I ask the media please to respect our privacy during this transitional time. Thank you also to my friends, family and my very large team for all your support and Love!”

On Tuesday, Malawi Judiciary Spokesperson Mlenga Mvula confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that the “Ray of Light” singer had been granted an adoption order so that she can proceed with her adoption in the African country.

“The father is still alive but the mother died a week later after delivering the little kids on 29 August 2012,” the Judiciary Spokesperson also told ET about the girls’ background. “Madonna came to the court on Tuesday with her lawyer Mr. Mvalo. The father of the children was also in court together with the uncle of the little girls. She looked very happy in court. She left with her two new daughters.”

In addition to her now four adopted children, the singer also has two biological children, 20-year-old Lourdes Leon and 16-year-old Rocco Ritchie with ex husband Guy Ritchie.

This news comes after revelation that Amal and George Clooney and Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z Carter are expecting biological twins.

So, what makes them an ideal snack? It’s because they provide various health benefits such as prevention of anemia, eye health, reduced risk of fatty liver diseases, and so on. Bear in mind that apricots have anti-inflammatory properties as well, improve digestion, and regulate your blood pressure. Besides all this, they are incredibly delicious.

 

Kale chips

The word “chips” immediately reminds you of potato chips that you munch on a daily basis, especially at night. Your Late Fall/Early Winter Holiday Season Wardrobe Guide

The late fall and early winter season is all about layering and comfort for moms-to-be. It’s very easy to get overheated so dressing your bump involves wearing items that you can peel off  and stay cool. Pants and dresses should be comfortable and contain scrunching on the sides to accommodate a growing belly.  Fabrics need breathable and soft yet made of all natural materials so not to irritate a pregnant women’s sensitive skin.

All of these characteristics can be found in one of my fave designers from my pregnancy, Isabella Oliver (which is having a mid-season sale). The line is a celebrity favorite, but I love it because it sells fashionable and chic clothing, but that at a modest price range that won’t break the bank.

I know for a fact and from my experience that when you put on an IO dress, it feels like second skin but has plenty give. I wore my pieces long after my pregnancy and even these days because many of them are timeless and classic.

This time of the year also involves plenty of holiday parties, visits to family and outdoor events and so a wardrobe should contain certain staple items.  I’d recommend making sure your wardrobe is stocked with the following:

  1. a Cardigan in a bright red, yellow or other mood-lifting color. Avoid prints bc solids are better for mixing and matching. Also, if you care about looking bigger, prints generally are a no-no in that regard.
  2. A pair of maternity jeans to wear to trips to the pumpkin patch, Christmas tree shopping or mall walking during Holiday shopping time. Get at least two pairs: a dressy pair that can be paired with a blazer and a more casual pair, perhaps distressed for an edgier weekend outing.
  3. LBDs – A few little black dresses are in order for Holiday parties. You can get an off-the-shoulder top to go with the trend or a turtleneck for the colder times of the year or if is raining or if the event will be outside.
  4. A chunky sweater – A thick sweater is ideal because they can be worn over top of several layers and serve as an alternative to a heavy coat because when you’re already feeling heavy, the last thing you want to throw on is a big ole coat!
  5. A Blazer – a blazer in a dark color is great for work functions,  cocktail hours, or chic lounge events meeting up with friends for a casual dinner or lunch.
  6. Jersey shirts – the feel of a jersey top is the best. They are also light enough that they can be layered. Get an assortment of muted and soft colors like pink, grey, tan and green. To mix it up and add a bit of flavor, you can pick up some striped tops as well.
  7. A festive dress – For Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, a dress with a cute pattern or nice cut will be perfect. You can also wear this dress in the family holiday photo or to a tree lighting or some other happy occasion.

Fall Styling Tips to Last the Season

As the weather starts to cool, you may be putting away your summer clothes, taking down the fall stuff and looking to augment your wardrobe with new staples to last through the fall and winter. If you’re preggers, you will need to stock up on a few items as well to last through the season.

You will want to start with layering basics. I like starting with a tank, and adding a light long sleeve jersey over top of that. Throw on a light weight cardigan over that. You can remove layers as you warm and add more if you get cold. Grab a few of them from vintage stores or get as many boutique tank tops to last you the season. If you stick with primary colors in solid traditional or pastels, you should be good to go and have enough options for mixing and matching.

Next, invest in a good sturdy pair of fall boots. You can go with classic Riding style boots or a chic but sturdy wedge bootie. Both, by a quality brand to last thru fall and early winter will do.

Everyone needs lots of room to put all your stuff. A large tote bag is perfect accompaniment for your fall wardrobe. Get one in a standard color that will work with your wardrobe and if you want to really stand out or add a pop of color to your wardrobe, here is where you can add that element.

Scarves are essential as the weather begins to chill and it begins to get crisp outdoors. There are many different ways you can tie a scarf. Also, you can mix and match scarves with different patterns and shapes and use them to add style to a basic monochromatic palette.

Finally, big and bold costume jewerly can be conversation statement pieces. You don’t have to spend a lot on them because you will be swapping them out frequently. They’ll add some flavor to your look.

Target Launched its New Kids Clothing Line & A Bunch of Our Fave Celeb Moms were There

Target launched its brand new kids brand at at Pier 6 at Brooklyn Bridge Park on July 21, 2016 in Brooklyn Borough of New York City on Thursday, July 21 and a bunch of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums, including currently preggers Blake Lively were there.

In addition to the second time mom-to-be, Camila Alves McConaughey, Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Rachel Bilson were in the house as well.

The brand is called “Cat & Jack” and is meant to be trendier and cool, based on feedback the Minneapolis-based retailer collected from hundreds of kids about what they want to wear.

The band includes uniform pants and leggings are all made with trademarked Tough Cotton that Target says actually gets stronger as it’s washed. And all Cat & Jack pocket bags, girls’ denim and swimwear are made out of a recycled polyester called Repreve. Nice!

Officials Remove Underweight Baby Fed a Vegan Diet From Parents

A 14-month old baby has been taken away from his parents after he arrived in the hospital severely malnourished from being kept on a vegan diet, the New Zealand Herald reports.

The baby, whose name has not been released, was brought to a hospital in Milan, Italy, on July 2 by his grandparents. Tests revealed that the baby was extremely underweight and had critically low calcium levels. He was also suffering from a congenital heart condition, which required immediate surgery. While the heart condition was caused by a cardiac abnormality, as opposed to the diet directly, doctors said that the low levels of calcium certainly aggravated the serious medical issue.

“It is not a problem to choose different or unusual kinds of nutrition and we certainly do not want to enter into a discussion of the merits of the decision,” Luca Bernardo, the director of Pediatrics at the hospital, said. “But since birth, the baby should have had support in this case with calcium and iron.”

Good Housekeeping Institute Nutrition Director Jaclyn London, MS, RD, CDN, says a vegan diet should never be considered safe for babies. “While veganism can be achieved in a healthful way for adults, children require key nutrients for proper growth and brain development, including essential fatty acids, iron, calcium, and protein — all of which are difficult to meet in adequate amounts on this type of restrictive diet,” she told GoodHousekeeping.com.

The baby, who is now recovering in the hospital, was taken away from the parents after the hospital called social services to report the case. A children’s court will decide whether or not his grandparents should be given full custody. Reports say this is the fourth case of a child being hospitalized in Italy, where veganism is on the rise, due to a vegan diet in the last 18 months.

Study: Exercise During Pregnancy Lessens C-Section Risk

A new Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology confirm the importance of exercise while pregnant to reduce risk of having a pre-term baby or other complications.

Researchers looked at data from over 2,000 pregnant women and compared those who exercised and those who did not  The women who exercised were more likely to deliver vaginally—as opposed to having a C-section—and less likely to have gestational diabetes and high blood pressure.

The key is to maintain your current level of activity, not increase it, according to the American Academy of Obstetrics and Gynecology. 

The Academy recommends that all women who have no complications with their pregnancies get “30 minutes or more of moderate exercise a day on most, if not all, days of the week.”

Women can  do what they want but should avoid exercise that can risk abdominal trauma (like horseback riding or skiing).

They should tell their docs of their exercise plans and stop and tel their doc  if they experience any pain, discomfort, or have any worries.
