LeToya Luckett On Pregnancy in the COVID Era

Singer actress LeToya Luckett and her husband Tommicus Walker are expecting to welcome their second child together any day now.

The former Destiny’s Child group member spoke to celebrity stylist June Ambrose about being pregnant during the COVID pandemic.

“The energy of the home is so important because we’re all cooped up in here together, the emotions are running wild, everybody wants to make a break for it,” Luckett shared over the hour long ITV session. “And then me, I’m trying to prepare to bring a life into the world,” the celebrity mom added. “I’m also thinking about career stuff, and then just being a new mom.”

She talked about having to go to doctor’s appointments alone because of hospital restrictions regarding the novel coronavirus.

“The doctor’s appointments are weird,” LeToya, who stars in Oprah Winfrey‘s OWN TV show Greenleaf, admitted. “I’m there by myself,” the celebrity mom said. “I’m doing sonograms by myself. You can’t have anyone with you. My husband can’t come with me.”

The couple welcomed their first child together  daughter Gianna Iman in January 2019.

She is hopeful and happy that the stay home orders have allowed her to spend more time with her family, musing: ““I can finally be still and enjoy my family, enjoy my babies, enjoy the growing baby inside of me.”

Luckett is also step mom to Walker’s 7-year old daughter Madison from a previous relationship.

Diplo Has Never Met His Newborn Son With Trini Beauty Queen Because of Covid Travel

My husband is from Trinidad so I thought to share this news from a former beauty queen from his hometown.

Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago 2014 Jevon King had a son on March 20, 2020 with internationally known mega DJ, Diplo.

Neither mom or dad formally announced their mutual parentage of the new baby until recently when the Mississippi born recording artist posted a photo of King with their new son in a photo slideshow on Mother’s Day.

“Thanks for giving me life and helping me create it – the three strongest mothers in the world.. I’m still a work in progress but u have given three perfect beautiful boys ? I love you all til the moon and back,” Diplo, real name Thomas Wesley, captioned the share.

He later dedicated an entire post to his newest child.

“So, I had an entire ass baby during quarantine,” he mentions in his post of a video of the newborn. “I was hesitant to post him because not only does he already have a better haircut than me… But also because I haven’t met him yet since we are separated by a million miles and closed borders.”

He continued: “His name is Pace, he and his mommy are super healthy and happy and I’m going to meet them as soon as we turn a corner on this world shutdown.”

Diplo is currently in self-isolation to protect his two other children, sons Lockett and Lazer, with ex-girlfriend Kathryn Lockhart. The boys are currently living with their grandmother, therefore, Diplo has decided to practice social distancing to protect her.

10 Tips For Getting Motivated to Work Out At Home

People are looking to get gym-level workouts while being socially distant. It can be done and fortunately, there are lots of resources online to help. For example, a lot of gyms have moved remote and their instructors are teaching at home and broadcasting the workouts daily to members on a free, donation or reduced price basis.

My barre gym charges just $15 per month, while my Cycle Gym and Soca fitness class operate on a donation basis. There are also lots of apps like Peloton and Beach Body that offer free trials of one to six months.

Now that you know the options are available, it’s time to get motivated to do the workouts which is a problem that a lot of people have because they are also remote working from home, homeschooling their children and still have the usual family obligations of meal prep, cooking, cleaning and doing other chores.

To offer motivation tips, Nezar Akeel the Founder and CEO of MAXPRO Fitness, created the  MAXPRO, an award-winning ultra-compact “anywhere anytime gym” that works perfectly in any room in the home or anywhere outside and MAXPRO Fitness’ Sabrina Wescott, a certified holistic health coach, have come up with 10 tips people can use to stay fit while being socially distant:

1- Set realistic goals based on prior workouts.

If you normally do 30 minutes of cardio at the gym, you can still do 30 minutes of cardio at home. The same goes for strength training. If you want to take your workout to the next level, increase your weights for the first few reps and then back off of the last few. For cardio, push yourself by adding increments of 2-5 minutes per day.

2- Don’t ‘wait’ around for the best time to work out.

It is important for your success to schedule time to work out at home, just like you would do when physically going to the gym. If kids are home and you are having a hard time finding time, include the kids in your workout routine.

3- Home-based training equipment has been a long-standing option for people not wanting to go to the gym.

If you are used to working out with a coach or a trainer, the MAXPRO coaching app, along with other training apps, are available to give you training programs and even track your workouts.

However, if you don’t have access to these equipment options, bodyweight training can be a good alternative for working out at home. Planks, squats, burpees, push-ups, lunges, frog jumps, mountain climbers, spider crawls, and standing long jumps hit all parts of the body while keeping your heart rate up.

These exercises utilize your own weight to burn calories and build muscle.

4- Meditate.

Meditation can help control stress, anxiety and improve cardiovascular health. Meditation can be as simple as taking in deep breaths through your nose and breathing out your mouth or as guided meditations. The sky is the limit here.

5- Give a boost to boring workouts with at-home Circuit Training.

Try starting with Jumping Jacks for 45 seconds, jump down to pushups for 45 seconds, stand up and do some squats for 45 seconds, switch it up to skaters for 45 seconds, end with some alternating lateral lunges (modify down when necessary). Repeat this circuit 3 times.

6- Go Online to find new classes every day.

7- Get some fresh air. 

With the weather getting warmer every day, opening a window or door to bring the outside in can get your senses going. Head outside for a brisk walk (fast walking) enough to get your heart rate elevated and get you slightly breathless.

8- Make your workout place feel special.

Make sure that you have an open space without obstacles and add a few photos of your quotes or images that inspire you. This doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just somewhere you can go to feel relaxed and accomplished.

9- Stretch and Cooldown.

Stretch stretch stretch!! Make stretching part of your cool down. Stretching is so important as it keeps your muscles flexible and allows you to maintain (or grow) your range of motion. Not stretching can put you at risk for joint pain and muscle damage. Use this and deep breathing to help lower your heart rate to normal.

10- Proper Nutrition.

We know how important water is to a healthy body, but another key nutrition needed following a workout is a good quality protein. Eating/drinking a good quality protein within an hour after your workout helps your muscles heal and prevents the loss of lean muscle.

With these tips, you may be on your way to getting and staying fit for the long haul, and ideally way after the quarantine, stay-home orders and other restrictions are lifted.

March of Dimes Threw a ‘Rainbow Luncheon’ for RHOA’s Porsha Williams {VIDEO}

Miscarriage awareness was the theme of a Rainbow Luncheon thrown in honor of babies lost to miscarriage thrown by the March of Dimes in honor of its latest celebrity ambassador Porsha Williams of BravoTV‘s Real Housewives of Atlanta, and featured on Season 12, episode 20.

Over 50,000 others experience life-threatening complications as a result of pregnancy and childbirth each year, and 380,000 babies are born prematurely, and sadly, in the United States, there is a maternal health crisis that disproportionately affects black women.

That’s why the organization selected Williams, a new mom  who recently welcomed daughter Pilar Jhena with fiance Dennis McKinley. 

During the episode which featured the October 2019 event, Williams opened the luncheon by sharing how she suffered a miscarriage alone in her bathroom six years ago, adding that it was something she had never spoken about openly and decided to join the crusade to ensure other women are aware of the prevalence of miscarriage and do not have to go through it alone.

Three of the “Friends of the Housewives” of this franchise of the show also spoke up:

Tanya Sam opened up about having limited egg reserves because she found love later in life.

“I got the news that like I didn’t have a lot of egg reserves so that’s why it was so hard [to have a baby],” Sam, a tech angel investor says. “I recently started talking about it and I find there’s a lot of strength in being able to say that to other women.”

Shamea Morton Mwangi spoke up about having severe complications with her epidural before she gave birth and recovery.

Marlo Hampton shared that she have had two ectoptic pregnancies and used to question God about why she couldn’t have a baby but later resolved to herself that she was deprived of motherhood so she could be in a position to mother her nephews 12-year old Michael and 11-year old Matthew in place of her sister who is mentally incapable of caring for the boys.

Cast member Nene Leakes said in a confessional that she too has had a miscarriage as has her arch nemesis Kenya Moore who struggled with infertility before welcoming her daughter Brooklyn Doris with her estranged ex, Marc Daly.

“Being a woman doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to have children.” Moore said in a confessional. ” I nearly died having Brooklyn and you should never shame women for not being able to have children because those are things you cannot change.”

The March of Dimes is hoping Williams will use her advocacy to draw attention to the , as well as to spotlight her own challenges and joys of pregnancy and motherhood.

March of Dimes President and CEO Stacey D. Stewart presented Williams with a painting by a black female artist as a thank you for hosting the event.

Another Bravo franchise Real Housewives of Potomac featured an episode last season centered around three women from that show that suffered miscarriage loss, Monique Samuels, who hosted a Unicorn celebration in lieu of a baby shower, during which co-star and new mom Ashley Darby opened up about her own loss. Friend of the Housewives Katie Rost also has a sad pass with loss.

60 Fun Things To Do With Kids At Or Near Home

Having to self-isolate at home is not easy. By now, boredom has set in and the natives are getting restless. If you can, mix up the different activities you do with your children to off set mischievous behavior.

Here is an list of 60 things to do excerpted from a past post.

1. Bake cookies for ice cream sandwiches.

2. Make a photo journal or a family yearbook.

3. Have a luau in the backyard.

4. Make a fort out of cardboard boxes.

5. Make ice cream.

6. Write and illustrate your own book.

7. Forget cooking — set up an ice cream sundae buffet for dinner.

8. Clean up trash at a local park.

Report: Mega DJ Diplo Welcomes Baby Boy with Trinidad Beauty Queen

Mega Popular DJ, producer and songwriter Diplo just welcomed a new baby with Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago 2014, Jevon King.

Diplo, real name  Thomas Wesley Pentz has not confirmed the news but King announced the arrival on her Instagram page that she welcomed a baby boy on March 20 and Diplo was among those who “liked” the photo.

A simple blue heart and butterfly was all she used to caption a logo of the newborn’s name, Pace, and his birthrate.

I was so terrified of turning 30 this year! I kept looking at my life and second guessing my accomplishment. I thought about my personal goals that I wanted to achieve but didn’t just yet. My mom would always tell me “everything will fall into place when the time is right”. Boy oh boy it did! Something about feeling you growing inside me makes me feel so complete.
