Academy Awards Timeline of Bumps on the Red Carpet

In 2012, Adele welcomed her first child, son Angelo, and the next year, she won an Oscar for Best Song for the and explained having to express breast milk in the bathroom to relieve her engorged breast.

The “Rolling in the Deep” singer missed out on having to be heavily pregnant on the red carpet like several of her fellow A-listers in year’s past.

Oscar has played host to several heavily pregnant

In 1992, Susan Sarandon was almost due with her son Miles

whom she welcomed (with then-beau Tim Robbins) when she was nominated for her role in Thelma & Louise at age 47. (She didn’t win but was nominated 5 times and won Best Actress in 1996 for her role in Dead Man Walking.)

In 1998, Glen Close was 8-months pregnant when nominated for Fatal Attraction.

In 2000, four-time Academy Award nominee Annette Bening was nominated for her role in American Beauty at almost 8 months pregnant with her fourth child with husband Warren Beatty, daughter Ella.

In 2003, Catherine Zeta-Jones accepted the award for Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Chicago while almost full term with daughter Cary with husband .

In 2004, Marcia Gay-Harden was nominated for her role in Mystic River, while pregnant with twins!

In 2006, Rachel Weisz was 7-months preggers with her and

then-boyfriend Darren Aronofsky when she won the Best Supporting Actress trophy for The Constant Gardner.

In 2011, Black Swan star Natalie Portman was 6 months pregnant with her and her choreographer husband Benjamin Millepied,  first son, Aleph when she accepted her Best Actress award.

In 2014, although Kerry Washington was not nominated for an Oscar, she did attend, cradling the baby bump from her first child, Isabelle.

That same year, Chris Hemsworth ’s wife, Elsa Pataky  in 2014 wore blue sequins but maybe made a fashion mistake of wearing it under and not on top of her belly.

Adele Did the Universal ‘Pregnant Woman Belly Cup’ and Sent the Internet Crazy!

adele-belly

Yesterday, Adele did the universal subconscious hand over belly cupping that pregnant women do without even thinking, but only she did it in a photo that she posted on her Instagram account. You know what that means?

She triggered the bump watch brigade as speculation among her fans and followers immediately swarmed in social media that the 28-year old singer-songwriter is expecting her second child with husband Simon Konecki.

Recall that at the end of her North America tour, the multi-Grammy Award winner told the farewell tour audience that she was going to go have a baby, indicating that she will take her time off from touring to grow her family.

We know this may be a false alarm, but there have been several incidences in the past when a celebrity may have been pregnant at a time she was photographed cupping her belly but had not made any big public announcement confirming such news. Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez come to mind. (see above and actually Carey later miscarried, we believe)

We have blogged often about the “Bump Watch Speculation” which happens when a celeb woman has overindulged in a meal and is photographed by the paparazzi emerging from a restaurant, wears a dress with an unnatural bubble in it or gains a few pounds that show up in the belly area.  She is immediately presumed to be with child.

It could be nothing. Time will tell. We’ll be waiting. Stay tuned. (smile)

Adele Expounds On her Post Partum Depression During Grammy Acceptance Speech

adele-mom

During an award acceptance speech at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, singer/songwriter Adele gave new insight on the post partum depression she struggled with after giving birth to her now 4-year old son, Angelo.

The multiple-Grammy winning artist had previously shared during a candid interview with Vanity Fair magazine last October that she suffered from the condition though didn’t know what she was going through.

“I had really bad postpartum depression after I had my son, and it frightened me,” she told the interviewer, adding that in lieu of taking medication or talking with a professional to help her cope, she took consult from other moms.

At Sunday’s show, she recounted becoming pregnant after her last album 21 and how the experience and  having PPD made her feel disconnected from the world and all the things she knew as normal.

She credited her team for helping her bound back.

“As you can see it took an army to make me strong and willing again to do it. And I thank you all from the bottom of my heart,”

“And in my pregnancy and becoming a mother I lost a lot of myself and I’ve struggled and I still do struggle being a mum,” the platinum-selling artist said. “It’s really hard. But tonight winning this really feels full circle and like a bit of me has come back to myself.”

Nice!!

She also gave credit to her “husband” Simon Konecki for being her inspiration. It was the first time she had confirmed that she had gotten married.

“Grammys, I appreciate it. The Academy, I love you. My manager, my husband and my son — you’re the only reason I do it,” she said while accepting the award for Album of the Year.

She and Konecki  have been together for five years  and were introduced to one another by fellow British singer Ed Sheeran.

Before, in the Vanity Fair, piece, she talked about how then-boyfriend encouraged her to get out of her funk and to get help.

“My boyfriend said I should talk to other women who were pregnant, and I said, ‘Fk that, I ain’t hanging around with a fking bunch of mothers (sic)’,” she tells the publication. “Then, without realising it, I was gravitating towards pregnant women and other women with children, because I found they’re a bit more patient. You’ll be talking to someone, but you’re not really listening, because you’re so f**king tired.”

But while her non-mom friends didn’t get it, her friends with kids totally did.

“My friends who didn’t have kids would get annoyed with me,” she continues. “Whereas I knew I could just sit there and chat absolute mush with my friends who had children, and we wouldn’t judge each other. One day I said to a friend, ‘I fking hate this,’ and she just burst into tears and said, ‘I fking hate this, too.’ And it was done. It lifted.”

She added that she had a tough time self-diagnosing her condition because she wasn’t educated as to what it is.

“My knowledge of postpartum-or post-natal, as we call it in England, is that you don’t want to be with your child; you’re worried you might hurt your child; you’re worried you weren’t doing a good job,” she explains. “But I was obsessed with my child. I felt very inadequate; I felt like I’d made the worst decision of my life… It can come in many different forms.”

She confided that spending time alone helped.

“I just said, I’m going to give myself an afternoon a week, just to do whatever the f**k I want without my baby,” she says. “A friend of mine said, ‘Really? Don’t you feel bad?’ I said, ‘I do, but not as bad as I’d feel if I didn’t do it.’ Four of my friends felt the same way I did, and everyone was too embarrassed to talk about it;

At the end of the North America leg of her tour, Adele announced plans to try to get pregnant again, and is “off to have a baby.”

“I’ll see you on the other side,” she told fans in Phoenix. “In a couple of years I’ll be back [to the States]. You won’t be able to get rid of me.”

While she’s enjoyed spending a few months at home with her family, Adele will soon be headed back to work. She’s kicking off the next leg of her world tour in Australia and New Zealand later this month.

Beyonce Will Join This Growing List of Celebrities with Twins

beyonce-twins

Another celebrity diva is expecting twins! Beyonce announced on her Instagram page today  that she and her husband Jay-Z are expecting twins. She posted an artistic photo of herself in bra and undies wearing a veil sitting in a bed of flowers and roses.

She joins fellow singing diva Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Jennifer Lopez in twin motherhood and others like WNBA player Glory Johnson; celebrity spouses (or ex) Adrienne Bosh, Kayte Grammar, Kim Porter; Actresses Angelina Jolie,  Geena Davis, Anna PaquinDaya Vaidya, Garcelle Beauvais, Molly Ringwald, Mo’Nique, Sherri Saum, Holly Robinson-Peete, Rebecca Romijn,  Marcia Cross, Lisa Marie Presley, including via surrogates as with Sarah Jessica ParkerAngela Basset, Julie Bowen, Neil Patrick HarrisRicky Martin, among others.

HOW TO INCREASE YOUR ODDS OF GIVING BIRTH TO TWINS

“We would like to share our love and happiness,” the 20-time Grammy winner captioned the baby bump photo which has been shared 2M times as of this posting. “We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes.”

Also, there is something about Grammy Awards  when it comes to Beyonce announcing a pregnancy. She shared the news of her pregnancy with her first child, Blue Ivy following a performance in 2011 (arguably starting the red carpet reveal trend) and today, a couple weeks before the Grammy’s, here she is again to with baby news.

For the most part, the singer-songwriter has kept a lay profile for a while now since wrapping up her world tour last year. [side bar: I was just thinking about how Adele ended her tour by announcing she would be off to try to get pregnant again]

There has been a lot of speculation about a second child for several years now. And also, for the record, this is her third pregnancy.  In 2013, the multi-platinum selling artist revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage prior to the arrival of her daughter.

“About two years ago, I was pregnant for the first time,” she revealed in a self-produced HBO documentary. “And I heard the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life.

“I picked out names. I envisioned what my child would look like. I was feeling very maternal.

“I flew back to New York to get my check up – and no heartbeat. Literally the week before I went to the doctor, everything was fine, but there was no heartbeat.

“I went into the studio and wrote the saddest song I’ve ever written in my life. And it was actually the first song I wrote for my album. And it was the best form of therapy for me, because it was the saddest thing I’ve ever been through.”

I am excited for her and Blue Ivy, her daughter with Jay-Z. I am also looking forward to the bump watch and checking out what she will wear to this year’s Grammy red carpet on February 12.

This news comes the same week we learned about Pharrell Williams‘ triplets.

Multiples are the new singleton.  lol

Adele Just Announced That She’s Having Another Baby

getty-adele

Um… did Adele just low key make a pregnancy announcement before millions of people on Monday during a tour stop?

Maybe. The singer-songwriter phenom told a concert crowd in Phoenix on November 21 as she ended the show amidst a shower of confetti, she shouted into the mic ” “I’m going to have another baby!”

What!?! Really!!!

Then she told them she’ll  see them in a few years. Oh?

adele-phoenix

We are not sure if she is already pregnant or plans to begin the process of conceiving after she wrapped the North American leg of her international tour which launched this past July 2016. She has 8 more international dates in Australia, according to a concert website.

Recall, in 2010, when she was preggers with her first child, now 4-year old son Angelo James, with partner Simon Konecki, she never revealed that she was expecting until she was well into her second trimester.

She stayed away from the spotlight for 4 years until returning to music in 2015. She has said that she would give up touring so she doesn’t miss a day of her son’s growing up and life. Rumors have it [pun intended] that she is considering a residency in Las Vegas which would permit her to tour but stay in one place.
