The former Kate Middleton has been photographed re-wearing her go-to pair of white Superga sneakers since we first spotted them in 2016 during her visit to British Columbia, Canada. The Italian brand’s sneakers are durable, comfortable and boast a versatile silhouette that will go with your summer dresses or fall denim. The best part? The classic white kicks are on sale right now.

10 Behavorial Traits and Personality Quirks of First Born Children

A while ago,  a scientific research study found that first born children are usually smarter than their younger siblings. As a first born child myself, that news tickled me pink being a first born myself. I am a big believer in birth order playing a role in the development and personality of a child.

Genes definitely play a role, but researchers suggest that born-leaders are a real thing – and their success is not based on their teachers or peers but on their birth order.

First-borns

Per Vaalweekblad:

First-born children are 30 per cent more likely to become leaders such as CEOs or politicians. This is according to economists at the University of Texas-Austin and at Sweden’s Institute for Evaluation of Labour Market and Education Policy.

They found that first-borns are on average more emotionally stable, persistent, socially outgoing, willing to assume responsibility, and able to take initiative than later-borns.

Researchers say having more children means parents spend less time with each child which means the later ones generally have lower IQs. Parents also invest more time creating rules and being strict with the first child. As a result unique qualities develop that make them great leaders, such as intelligence, discipline and people management.

Well-known first-borns include Beyoncé, Emma Watson, Hillary Clinton, Richard Branson, J. K. Rowling, Kate Middleton, Oprah Winfrey and Winston Churchill.

These are 10 facts from our friends at Nanny.net about the effect of birth order on the eldest children, some of which may shed new light on behavioral quirks and personality traits of your firstborn.

  1. They’re More Reliable – First born children are often expected to look after younger siblings and take on a greater role of responsibility than children born into the family after them, and as a result they often grow into more reliable and dependable adults.
  2. They Tend to Be Higher Achievers – Almost half of all United States presidents have, to date, been first born in their families. In contrast, only four have been last born children. High achievers tend to be eldest children, who place a higher value on achievement and success than their younger siblings.
  3. They’re Natural Leaders – When a child is born first, she’s generally something of an authority figure over her younger siblings. That dominance often becomes a hardwired personality trait, which leaves them more likely to find themselves in positions of leadership in the adult world.
  4. They’re More Likely to be Perfectionists – Unlike younger siblings, who tend to have a more relaxed approach to life, first born children are more likely to be perfectionists, often setting almost impossibly high goals for themselves.

  5. They’re Not as Likely to Rebel – Alfred Adler, the father of the birth order psychology movement, asserted that older children often feel “dethroned” by new babies in the household and, as such, may be more likely to actively seek the approval of their parents and the other adults in their lives. In many cases, this drive to please continues throughout adulthood and they’re less likely to be rebellious as teenagers.
  6. They Benefit from Teaching Younger Siblings – When firstborns teach their younger siblings new skills or information, they’re benefiting from what’s known as “the tutor effect.” That’s one of the reasons why firstborn kids tend to be higher academic achievers and to pursue intellectual careers as adults.
  7. They Care More About What People Think of Them – Free-spirited people who aren’t concerned with what society as a whole or even the people closest to them think about their choices tend to be younger siblings, as firstborns generally have a very real drive to be people pleasers.
  8. They Value Organization and Order – Firstborns are more likely to be list-makers, organizers and to bring order to their surroundings than their more haphazard, disorganized counterparts who are lower in birth order.

Photo by Aa Dil from Pexels

  9. They’re Self-Motivated – Because of their desire to please and determination to succeed, older kids tend to be more self-motivated than their younger siblings and to require less encouragement to work towards the goals they’ve set for themselves.
  10. They’re Individuals – There are more studies on the subject of birth order than one could shake a stick at, but one thing that holds true across the board is that there’s more at play than simple birth order when it comes to determining a child’s personality. Genetics, for instance, will have some role in the habits and methods of a person’s behavior, as will environment and other important factors. Knowing a bit about the typical firstborn pattern is helpful, but be careful not to box your child in with expectations that may not hold true in her particular case.

Like Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton Too Suffered Isolation after Having A Royal Baby

Getty

On the heels of Meghan Markle expressing how lonely she was after having a baby in a documentary released last October as a Royal, Duchess Catherine recently opened up about having similar postpartum struggles as well.

The former Kate Middleton spoke with workers who are parents at center in Cardiff, Wales on Wednesday while promoting a  groundbreaking survey on the early childhood and she shared about how isolated she was with a new baby while her husband Prince William was away stationed with the Royal Air Force.

“It’s nice to be back in Wales,” Kate said. “I was chatting to some of the mums. It was the first year and I’d just had George — William was still working with search and rescue — and we came up here and I had a tiny, tiny baby in the middle of Anglesey.”

She added: “It was so isolated, so cut off. I didn’t have any family around, and he was doing night shifts. So…if only I had had a center like this.”

Recall last October, Duchess Meghan spoke about her struggle with being a new mom and newlywed to Prince Harry for ITV journalist Tom Bradby documentary, “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey“, Meghan Markle shared her :

“Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging. And then when you have a newborn, you know. And especially as a woman, it’s a lot,” she said at the time. “So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed. It’s um…yeah. I guess, also thank you for asking because not many people have asked if I’m okay, but it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”

After Bradby asked if she  was struggling and not okay, the Duchess responded, “Yes.”

So…there you go.

Struggling with Motherhood Meghan Markle Is Getting No Empathy, Love

Man, poor Duchess Meghan is having a difficult time adjusting to life as a Royal and a mother.

While filming a documentary during a diplomatic trip to Africa with her husband, Prince Harry, she did more than reveal that their adorable son Archie has red hair, she also talked about having a tough time adjusting to motherhood.

In speaking with journalist Tom Bradby for the ITV documentary, “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey“, Meghan Markle shared her struggle with being a new mom and newlywed to Prince Harry:

“Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging. And then when you have a newborn, you know. And especially as a woman, it’s a lot,” she said.

The news about this confession of the yet-to-be-released project comes on the heels of news that she and Prince Harry are considering leaving the UK altogether and remarked in passing about making a home for themselves in South Africa, and reports of their plans to sue the British press for hacking her phone,  and formal statements from Prince Harry calling on the tabloid press to quit harassing her and subjecting her to racist or unfair treatment.

“Up to now, we have been unable to correct the continual misrepresentations — something that these select media outlets have been aware of and have therefore exploited on a daily and sometimes hourly basis,” the statement read.

“I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditized to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person. I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces,” he said in a reference to his mother, Princess Diana, who died in a 1997 car crash while trying to elude paparazzi in Paris.

While the former Duchess Fergie, Sarah Ferguson, too was hounded relentlessly by the press, as was Harry’s mom  as he noted, those watching Markle’s treatment think compared to Duchess Catherine, the former Kate Middleton, Meghan is getting inequitable treatment perhaps because she is partially black and American.

When Kate  Middleton wore a one shoulder dress, the British press called her elegant but when Markle wore a similar style dress at the British Fashion Awards, they referred to it as “vulgar.”

Before and since Markle’s confession about having a difficult time adjusting to motherwhood, I have seen people in social and traditional media be critical of the British monarchy dismiss her complaints.  Many have also suggested that she gets what she asked for by marrying into that family and becoming a Royal.

US Talk show host Wendy Williams infamously stated so on her show this week.

In my opinion, such flippant, dismissive and harsh reactions show lack of empathy. Irrespective of what one feels about the family she married into or the fact she had tremendous wealth, I think kindness or at least passive observance is in order when someone expresses sadness over dealing with personal anxiety or stresses.

For the average man or woman that come across the reports about Markle’s confession, it so easy to scroll by they don’t care but they don’t. Instead, they make these blatant pronouncements that come off as cold and callous and sort of truly reflects poorly on the person making the disparaging remarks.

That’s my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

We all should strive to be kind. We have enough things to fight and get upset about. No need to pile on.

Pippa Middleton says Serena Williams is Her Fit Pregnancy Inspo

pippa serena

Pippa Middleton is skipping her sis Kate Middleton and looking across the pond for her pregnancy spirit animal: Serena Williams.

The sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, who announced her pregnancy early in the year, wrote in her regular column for Waitrose Kitchen, the monthly magazine for the Waitrose chain of British supermarkets, Waitrose that she sees Meghan Markle‘s buddy Williams as exemplifying what she would like to do whilst preggers and afterwords.

“I’ve been a tennis fan since childhood, as a player and spectator, and have been keen to continue playing safely throughout my pregnancy,” she wrote. “Take Serena Williams. She famously proved that women can play a high level of tennis from two months (when she won the 2017 Australian Open) up to eight months.”

She also pointed out Williams’ perseverance as a source for inspiration.

“Few of us can relate to this elite excellence,” she stated. “But if you’re a healthy, well-trained player with an uncomplicated pregnancy there’s no reason why you can’t continue a good level of tennis.”

No lies told here, Pippa!

Daily Mail recently reported that Pippa has decided to continue playing tennis while pregnant. Well we know where she got that idea from…. (smile)

Williams returned to Grand Slam and passed the first round.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Married!

Today, Suits actress Meghan Markle and her fiancé married at the St. George Chapel at Windsor Castle.

The bride looked elegant and radiant in a simple but classic long sleeve satin gown by Givenchy with a cathedral train. She also wore a heirloom tiara, little make up and tiny silver  studded earrings with hair hair simple. Nothing ornate or over-the-top.

The ceremony infused her African American culture with British traditon. The Kingdom Choir, a predominantly black Christian gospel choir from South London performed a marvelous rendition of the Ben E. King R&B song “Stand By Me” during the ceremony and the Gospel version of “Amen” during the recession, and ended it with “This Little Light Of Mine” which is commonly sung in black churches.

An American Episcopalian clergy, Bishop Michael Curry, gave a spirited and passionate 20-minute love-themed sermon that invoked quotes from Martin Luther King, Jr. and scripture.

It has been the talk of the Internet because of how different it is from the usual stoic sermons heard at formal Royal religious ceremonies.

A 19-year old cellist with Sierra Leonean and Caribbean heritage from a large musical family, Sheku Kanneh-Mason beautifully performed a number of selection.

It was a preeminent event witnessed by thousands who lined the streets along the route to the chapel and the millions watching on Tv and screens across the globe.

Along with Markle’s brand new sister in law Pippa Middleton who is expecting her first child, also in attendance were new moms, Pippa’s sister Kate Middleton, Amal Clooney and Serena Williams with their respective spouses Best Man Prince William, George Clooney and Alexis Ohanian.

Vet Mom designer, tastemaker and Spice Girl alum Victoria Beckham and her hubby David Beckham were there too looking debonair and dapper. Oh Lady Oprah Winfrey attended along with the usual band of royals and British celebs!

Congrats!

We Now Know the Name of Kate Middleton and Prince Williams’ Third Child

You best believe it wasn’t going to be some obscure Hollywood name like True, Dream, Saint, North, Stormi, Chicago or Reign, Blue or Sir.

The British Royals newest arrival has a name.

As E! Reports:

You may call His Royal Highness…

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son Louis Arthur Charles,” Kensington Palace announced Friday. “The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.”

Just days after welcoming their third child into the world on Monday, Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton revealed their little boy’s special moniker.

As for the baby’s official title, according to royal historian Marlene Koenig who spoke to Town & Country, the little one will be called His Royal Highness Prince Louis of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. However, like his siblings and famous parents, little Louis will go by His Royal Highness Prince Louise of Cambridge.

Either way, that’s quite a moniker to learn how to write on a name tag at school!

The tot joins big brother Prince George, 4, and older sister Princess Charlotte, 2. George’s full name is George Alexander Louis, sharing George with Queen Elizabeth II‘s father, King George VI, and Louis with his father, whose full name is William Arthur Philip Louis.

Meanwhile, Charlotte’s full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. The choice of Charlotte was believed to be a nod to William’s father Prince Charles and is also the middle name of Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton and her grandmother Carole Middleton. Naturally, Elizabeth is a reference to William’s grandmother and England’s monarch as well as mom Kate’s middle name. Diana, of course, is a tribute to Prince William’s late mother.
