Inside Chanel Iman and Sterling Shepard’s Baby Shower

Over the weekend, Victoria Secret model Chanel Iman and her husband New York Giants player Sterling Shepard also celebrated the impending arrival of their first child together at an intimate backyard baby shower in Oklahoma thrown by the leggy brunette’s friends.

The shower’s color theme was pink and Iman revealed that she is expecting a girl on her Instagram sharing photos of the blessed event.

“It’s a GIRL.” The expectant mama posted a picture of she and Sterling sitting on a pink couch outside in a lush yard with pink flowers surrounding the expectant parents.

Earlier this month Chanel attended the Fragrance Foundation Awards in N.Y.C. where she spoke to reporters and admitted that “the first term actually was very difficult” and she “was sick,” adding “I’m super anxious to meet my baby,” and after she got through her rough patch of morning sickness, “my pregnancy has been amazing,”

Hubby also opened up to the New York Post about his excitement of becoming a first-time papa.  “I’m super excited about it,” he told the paper. “On game days, I see guys…they have their babies down there, and it’s a warm feeling when you see that. I’m looking forward to it…I can’t wait.”

20 Couture Kids Pieces to Get For Your Posh Tots Today

A lot of people admire the the couture clothes worn by children of wealthy celebs like Blue Ivy, North West, Harper Beckham and Princess Charlotte , but in today’s age, it is not uncommon for non-celebrity kids of rich parents to dress similar.

A few years ago, we did a post on New York Post  piece highlighting some of the affluent parents who spend loads of money outfitting their children as young as a few months old in super expensive couture and designer kids clothing.

One Brooklyn mom, Priscilla Monteiro, purchased for her then 5-month old daughter Yasmine and then 4-year old girl Vera outfits that cost over $1400 total each to wear to a swanky industry party on a yacht during the Cannes Films Festival. Another mom, Danielle Fornes, a blogger and former educator, mixed up high end  with affordable pieces but still didn’t think twice about dressing her daughter Jolie in a $395 Ralph Lauren dress and $75 Nordstrom ballet flats.

Another Brooklyn mom Sharra Dade told the paper she dresses her daughter Alyssa who is a child model and actress in upscale clothing because of all the industry events she attends with celebrities. As the Post noted,  Salma Hayek dresses her daughter, Valentina, in Gucci, and Victoria Beckham, dresses Harper, often in Burberryand Stella McCartney.

Fornes made a business out of it, charging Upper West Side parents $200 per hour and $150 for an additional child to dress their kids for upscale events and parties, and essentially to  “keep up with the Joneses.”

“These children on the Upper West Side go to a lot of parties, and though the mothers are friends, it’s embarrassing if their son or daughter is wearing the same outfit as someone else,” Fornes told the New York Post.

It’s a lucrative field and one that many of the top fashion houses aren’t leaving on the table. Roberto CavalliMarc JacobsBurberry, Chloe and other top designer lines all have children’s lines of clothing launched within the last few years.later consigns the clothes that Alyssa wears only once or twice.

And business is booming.

Heidi Lieske of the store Be Mini Couture said “many of our customers are affluent 30- and 40-somethings influenced by mommy blogs and actors who appear with their kids in celebrity magazines.”

This NYC Math Professor Gives His Sperm Away in Target To Women Wanting a Baby

c5a273yw8aal5jz

A CUNY math professor is giving away his sperm to women around the world willing to wait for him to ejaculate into a cup in a Target bathroom stall and then inject themselves with his specimen and get pregnant.

This Father’s Day Weekend, the New York Post followed up on a June story it did on Ari Nagel, nicknamed the “Sperminator“, who has fathered 32 kids and counting. The married father of three conceived some “the old-fashioned way” and others  via “sperm hand-offs at public spots such as the Atlantic Center Target in downtown Brooklyn,” the paper reports.

Nagel got tons of press and new attention after the NYPost’s feature on him and since then, has been jet setting across the globe to meet up with women wanting his sperm, and fielding inquires from “from Turkey, Nigeria, South Africa and even China.”

According to the June 17th published article, these trips include one to Israel to meet a woman who will freeze his sperm to take to a clinic.

Of an upcoming trip to Vietnam to meet with a wheelchair bound client, Nagel tells the paper, “this crippled woman’s story really hit home, She said, ‘It’s all I ever wanted.’ You just have a vibe that she’d be an amazing mom,” adding that this baby will diversify his portfolio. “I don’t have an Asian baby yet.”

In mid-July, a hopeful from Taiwan is flying in to New York to meet with him.

He only charges for the specimen so the women in New York whose babies he has fathered perhaps cannot afford to go through a traditional regulated clinic which follows health procedures and likely subjects donors and clients to mental and physical exams, genetic testing, infectious diseases screening and protect them from all the legal ramifications of sperm donor-ship.

Nagel poses with two women pregnant with his chidren – Nagel on Twitter

As the Post notes, several of Nagel’s children have Black mothers, and one of those moms, Blandine Rodney, who said someone told her that he is trying to “whitewash the black community,” to which the says Rodney. “It’s not whitewashing! More white men should give sperm to women who need it.”

The 43-year-old Brooklyn nurse also said of Nagel: “He’s handsome, he’s a genius. I’d be proud to have my child say Ari is his father.” So, there’s that.

One of the consequences of the fact there is no record or tracking of Nagel’s offsprings is the large number of half-siblings growing up at the same time in the same part of New York city and not knowing they’re related.

One of Nagel’s  “baby mamas”, a Connecticut woman named Crystal who has two sons, ages 6 and 7, by him, says: “To know my kids have so many siblings out there, it’s not something I would have wanted for my children.”

Some of the women have filed for child support and he has had to pay them. He said that the women “went back on their word” to not sue him for support but he is paying them, and the “money is going to his child.” It was discussed on an episode of The Doctors.

Crystal, 45, took Nagel to court for child support, saying that she was expecting to co-parent with him and that she didn’t know of his plans to father an entire baseball team.

“My kids got left in the dust,” says the woman, who conceived both boys through intercourse. “You can’t co-parent with 20-something kids.”

(The other four who sued could not be reached or had no comment.)

Some may  look at this story and have an opinion on the other potential harm from such bootleg, back alley process but if acquiring a sperm donor via a legal and sanctioned bank is cost-prohibitive,  then these women are willing to take the risk to achieve motherhood.

Editor’s note: Nagel tries to come off as altruistic by mentioning that he is also a bone marrow donor, but the fact that his wife, who he says he is not romantically involved with, didn’t know for a year about his exploits is worrisome. He may just be a narcissist who is using all of this attention to feed his ego and desire to feel important and needed, but I’m not psychiatrist but this case is certainly one for the books

At Age 73, Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger Welcomes 8th Child

mick-jagger

Congratulations to 73-year old Rolling Stone founding band member Mick Jagger on the birth of his 8th child with his ballerina girlfriend Melanie Hamrick.

“Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger’s son was born today in New York and they are both delighted,” a rep for Jagger told New York Post‘s society column “Page Six” on December 8. “Mick was at the hospital for the arrival.”

The rep added that both Hamrick, who is more than 40 years Jagger’s junior, and the baby are “doing well,” and noted, “We request that the media respect their privacy at this time.”

The couple started dating in 2014 after Jagger’s partner of 13 years L’Wren Scott committed suicide in 2014.

Jagger is also a grandfather. He shares children with exes Marsha Hunt, Bianca Jagger, Jerry Hall and Luciana Gimenez Morad.

His children, Georgia, James, Jade, Elizabeth, Lucas, Karis and Gabriel, range in age from 17 to 45. The baby has a 45-year old half sibling in Kari! Wowza!

Jagger is also a granddad to five children and became a great-granddad in May 2014, when his granddaughter Assisi, daughter of Jade Jagger, gave birth to a baby girl.

Sofia Vergara’s Embryos are Suing her; Ex’s New Ploy at Getting Control of Them

sofia-vergara

Actress Sofia Vergara is involved in a lawsuit with her own fertilized frozen embryos and the implications could have far-reaching effect on many other families in the future.

While the Modern Family star was still engaged to ex Nick Loeb, Vergara had her embryos frozen to preserve her chances of conceiving with Loeb after they got married. The couple broke up and Vergara sought to have the embryos destroyed but given that they contain part of Loeb’s DNA and were created from that union and consent, Loeb is getting creative in his attempts to keep the embryos.

Get this: for purposes of the lawsuit, the embryos have names, Emma and Isabella, as listed in Louisiana court documents that the New York Post obtained.

In a new lawsuit, a trustee is named as the plaintiff and the case alleges that the embryos will be deprived of their inheritance from Vergara by not being born.

Given that the state of Louisiana is considered “pro-life” and therefore fertilized eggs are seen as a “juridicial person”, there is a good chance that the embryos may win their suit and be transferred to Loeb so they can be born.

It is presumed, he will find a surrogate to carry the embryos to term. Currently, the embryos are located in California.

As we learned from the other famous celebrity case involving Sherri Shepherd, we know that a judge could hold a celebrity financially responsible for a child conceived during a relationship but born after the relationship ended.

However, in that case, the embryos had already been implanted and were on their way to being born when the split occurred.

In the UK, in 2003, a judge there determined that embryos could not be born without the full consent of both parents.

Brittney Griner’s Ex & Mom to Couple’s Twin Girls, Glory Johnson is back to Dating Men

glory

We spent a lot of time following the rocky relationship of WNBA‘s Brittney  Griner and ex-wife Glory Johnson. The two got engaged within weeks of having a domestic dispute last April then married a month later. Johnson, got pregnant with twins via artificial insemination only for Griner to file for an annulment before the marriage was even a month old.

Johnson welcomed twin girls Ava Simone and Solei Diem last October, 2015, but Griner denied being their parent.

The Dallas Wings Forward fought back against the Phoenix Mercury star’s claims that she knew nothing about the plans to conceive children. Johnson and won a child support case earlier this year, and Griner was ordered to pay her $40,000 annually.

After all that highly public split, Johnson has moved on and is back to dating men again. Phew!!

She is in a happy relationship with with 30-year-old Christopher Fry, who lives in Seymour, Tennessee – a short distance from her family home in Knoxville, New York Post reports.

Recall in her petition for an annulment last year, Griner claimed Johnson was cheating on her with man. Hmmm. She probably was on to something back then. doh!

What’s up with our new obsession with Upper Eastside Manhattan Moms?

odd-mom-out-season-1-supertease (1)

It seems we are all obsessed with the posh and uber competitive lives of mothers of the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York.

They’re the buzz these days.

Recently, everyone went gaga after reading that New York Post interview with author Wednesday Martin about her much anticipated expose “Primates of Park Avenue” based on her life living among these women. All over comment pages, readers, mainly women, proclaimed their eagerness to see the bizarre world of wealthy Manhattan parents Martin described in her book eventually come to life on the small or silver screen.

It was as good as fiction! It very well could have been because it’s been revealed there were many holes in Martin’s claims about people, places and even the length of which she lived in Manhattan.

In any event,  eager audiences wouldn’t have to wait for Martin’s account to be adapted into a movie or series. BravoTV got ya covered!

Tonight, at 10pm ET, the cable network will debut Odd Mom Out, a scripted series that chronicles Momzilla life on Manhattan’s Upper East Side but from the perspective of a mom who doesn’t fit in.

Jill Kargman, a mom of three, created and stars in the series and chats about the series in the July issue of Parents magazine.

Here is an excerpt, reprinted with permission from Parents:

What is a Momzilla? A Momzilla is someone who channels all of her type-A ambition and energy into her child. I do believe there’s a Newtonian law of energy where all of your drive for your career abruptly gets funneled into the fetus.

Your character, Jill Weber, also has three children. Is she based on your own experience? When I had Sadie, I had no friends in New York who were parents and I felt really lonely. The challenges of that period of my life have been retooled for this show. A lot of moms I speak to say, “Enjoy this time while it lasts because it flies by.” And I want to smash them in the head because it was really hard.

Have you ever felt like the odd mom out? At a ballet class when my oldest was 2, I told her to sit down “Indian style.” These four perfect moms gasped and glared at me. One said, “You can’t say that. It’s ‘crisscross applesauce’ now.” I ran into the bathroom and burst into tears because I felt like I was doing it all wrong.

What’s your advice to other parents who feel this way? Fly your freak flag and know there are others like you. Even people you perceive to be the perfect mothers, who have it all together, sometimes feel like the odd mom out too.

Good stuff! Read the rest of the interview in the July issue of Parents on magazine racks now.

Check out the series teaser:
