For the Third Time, A Fit Australian Instagram Model’s Tiny Bump Is Shamed

Pregnant Belle Lucia cupping small baby bump

Yet, another super thin and ultra fit Australian Instagram model is being shamed in social media for carrying amazingly small well along in her pregnancy.

Sydney, Australian model Belle Lucia posed in a two piece bikini while vacationing in Spain.

The 24-year-old captioned the image: “Beach and bump” with the hashtags “23 weeks pregnant” and “six months bump.”

As could be expected, a bunch of her followers marveled and commented on the size of her “bump.”

Read a round up from FOX News here.

The model took to her Instagram story to defend herself and her tiny bump:

“As you can see, women show very differently but are all carrying a little life,” she shared to her 1.4M followers. “Just because I’m not showing as much as you like doesn’t mean my pregnancy is ‘unhealthy’ or that I’m promoting a ‘skinny’ pregnancy.”

She continued:

“It’s just my body and I can’t help it if it doesn’t look the same as other women,” she continued. “Body shaming is not okay no matter how ‘big’ or ‘small’ someone is.”

Good for her!

Previously, other Australian Instagram fitness star Daegen Coyne had to defend herself, as did Hannah Polites and Revie Jane Schulz also from Australia dealt with similar bump backlash.

Go See ‘The Secret Life of Pets 2’, Out Tomorrow!

With Summer out for my middle kid and his friend and one week to go until youngest and her friend got out for the year, we snuck out for a school night family movie night, compliments of our friends at Universal Studios to see Ilumination’s tenth feature, The Secret Life of Pets 2.

It had been 3 years since the last comedic animated blockbuster was released, so it was high time to catch up with Terrier Max (Patton Oswalt), his now married with toddler owner Ellie Kemper and their other dog Duke (Eric Stonestreet).

Animals have a life of their own when their owners are away which is the overall theme of this franchise.

There are three mini tales in one in this movie.

The family head out on a road trip with toddler, Liam, who Max guards with his life to visit family at a farm in the country.

There they meet up with an Alpha Dog named Rooster (Harrison Ford) who keeps the farm in line and eventually, teaches Max about being brave and taking risks for the ones you love.

While away from the apartment in the city, Max’s girlfriend, an adorable white furball Pomeranian Gidget (Jenny Slate) tries to rescue Max’s favorite toy from a cat-packed apartment with a little help from her feline friend, Chloe (Lake Bell). It’s slapstick good time and the ultimate rescue is adorable and clever. I won’t spoil it for you.

On the other side of town, the first iteration of the series villain-turned adorable domestic bunny Snowball (Kevin Hart) now believes he is a superhero and accompanies a brave new dog on the block, a Shih Tzu named Daisy (Tiffany Haddish) on an adventure to rescue a circus tiger from a an evil owner of a traveling show who keeps his animals in line by being cruel to them.

We enjoyed the film tremendously which is entertaining to children (our group included two 14 year olds and two 11-year olds) and adults. The woman next to me couldn’t help laugh out loud all through the movie.

At the end, my daughter’s pal, Clio, had decided she wanted to return to see it again! I agree! It’s so adorable, and fun that it’s worth a second trip.

I love this remix of one of my fave songs, “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers for the soundtrack. Puerto Rican Latin trap singer, Ozuna, best known for his hits “La Modelo” and “Síguelo Bailando” sings it.

Check out the Lyrical video for it!

The Secret Life of Pets 2 is produced by the same team behind behind Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch and the Despicable Me and Minions franchise, and is written by returning Pets screenwriter Brian Lynch.

The film is directed by returning filmmaker Chris Renaud, who also directed Illumination’s Despicable Me series and Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax.

Overall, the kids LOVED it!! A good mix of comedy and life lessons. It’s a wonderful family date night movie!

It Comes out this Friday, June 7 to theaters nationwide!!! Go see it!

JPMorgan Chase Settles Paternity Leave Suit for $5M

JPMorgan Chase will pay $5 million to settle a class action lawsuit with male employees who alleged the company discriminated against them when it denied them the same amount of paid parental leave given to women at the company, according to a statement from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Chase employee Derek Rotondo — whose sex discrimination charge led to the class action, according to ACLU — said in a complaint that he had asked to take 14 weeks of “primary caregiver” leave after his son was born, in line with Chase’s policy that such caregivers were allowed to take up to 16 weeks of paid leave following birth of a child.

But Rotondo alleged Chase’s HR department denied this request, saying that mothers were presumptively considered primary caregivers, while fathers were instead eligible for only two weeks of parental leave unless they could show their partners or spouses were incapacitated or had returned to work.

Rotondo filed suit in 2017 alleging sex discrimination in violation of  Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and state law, ACLU said. After the charge was filed, Chase gave Rotondo 16 weeks of paid leave and clarified its policy as gender-neutral.

Members of the class include all male JPMorgan Chase employees nationwide who took the maximum amount of non-primary caregiver leave between 2011 and 2017, and who would have otherwise qualified for paid primary caregiver leave.

4 Post Baby Snap Back Fitness Tips

woman smiling fit after having a baby

Like most celebrities who get paid to be fit and trim, many moms are eager to get back into pre-pregnant shape and down to their pre-pregnancy size sometime too soon. It is not advisable to start with aerobics or other heavy exercises immediately. You must wait at least six weeks before starting to exert after pregnancy by vaginal way and eight weeks after pregnancy by Cesarean.

Here are the four best ways to get back into your pre-preggers shape:

  1. Walking: This is probably the easiest way to carry out your weight loss early pregnancy plan. It is safe and easy; grab your partner and go for a stroll in the neighborhood. A nice walk in the open will surely make you feel better and uplift your mood. Keep in mind not to overexert yourself.
  2. Running: If you are an habitual runner then there’s nothing to worry. Getting pregnant doesn’t mean the you will have to stop running . Just keep in mind not to overdo it; never run to the point of exhaustion. Regular burns extra calories and can help you in your weight loss early pregnancy plan. (Pregnancy exercise ,Weight Loss Pregnancy)
  3. Yoga: If you want to stay fit and lose weight during and after pregnancy then doing pre-natal yoga is the best thing for you. Yoga has many benefits, it is a great stress buster, helps in easing back and joint pains ( very common in pregnant women), and also helps in childbirth and post delivery stages. Overall regular Yoga can help you to go through your pregnancy with minimal worry. (Pregnancy exercise ,Weight Loss Pregnancy)
  4. Swimming: Swimming is a very good way to exercise and can help in weight loss early pregnancy. It can significantly lower your weight as swimming exercises the whole body. Join any water aerobics class or pre-natal swimming to stay fit and healthy during your pregnancy.

Safety considerations for exercise during pregnancy

To ensure that our exercise program provides us with all of the wonderful benefits outlined above, we also need to do whatever we can to ensure our safety and that of our baby, so below is a list of safety considerations to be aware of; and remember to always speak to your Doctor or Obstetrician if you are unsure. (Pregnancy exercise ,Weight Loss Pregnancy)

  1. Avoid becoming overheated.
  2. Avoid high intensity exercise.
  3. Avoid frequent and prolonged exercise after week 28 of your pregnancy.
  4. Limit the amount of exercise that you do lying on your back.
  5. This is of particular concern from your second trimester on.
  6. Avoid the use of hand weights over0.5kgin weight during aerobic classes.
  7. Perform Pelvic Floor (Kegel) Exercises.
  8. Wear a good supportive bra.
  9. Avoid rapid changes in direction and be very cautious if you are doing Step exercise classes.
  10. Stretch gently.
  11. Have a light snack approximately 2 hours before exercise and carry a small carton of fruit juice to your workout.
  12. If at any time during your exercise session you feel very hot, faint, dizzy, short of breath, experience vaginal bleeding, have palpitations, blurred vision, or severe or continuous headaches – STOP EXERCISING IMMEDIATELY.

It is also important to stop if you experience lower abdominal pain, tightness or cramping, back pain or pubic pain. If you experience any of these symptoms, consult your obstetrician as soon as possible.

21 Times Hollywood Got ‘Pregnancy’ Right

Pam and

Pam and Jim’s pregnancy on The Office is one example of when TV got the process of pregnancy right, and stayed away from the glamorous, stereotypical and unrealistic versions that have been common in Hollywood portrayals of parenthood.

Listicle website, The Romper, did a round up and praised the season 8 of the show when the actress who played Pam, Jenna Fischer, was pregnant in real life. She “went through all of the emotions Fischer was likely feeling as a mom in real life. In other words, Pam went through feelings of insecurity, worrying about her husband checking out younger women, and how her body would return to its pre-pregnancy shape afterward. “

New Cheap Car Seat Vs Used: Which One Should You Buy?

Should You Choose Cheap Or Used Car Seat For Your Child?

If your budget is tight, there are many baby essentials that you can buy for less. However, in terms of the safety of your baby, you should not be so quick to purchase a used car seat.

There are family budget savers available today that can provide you with a good deal, performance, and functionality,  as long as you know how to find the right type of car safety seat.

Why Buying A Brand New Car Seat Is The Safest Option

Car seats have expiration dates, and that alone is a reason why you should get a new one. Most have a lifespan of six years and after that, it is highly recommended to stop using the seat for your child’s safety.

When you buy a secondhand car seat, there’s a high chance that you’ll only be able to use it for one to two years, and sometimes even less. So, you’re not actually saving money since it’s more likely that you need to get another one right before your baby is ready to use a booster seat.

If you’re eyeing a safety seat online or from someone you don’t really know personally, you truly cannot be certain of the condition and history of the baby car seat.

The NHTSA recommends replacing or never using all car seats that have been involved in moderate to a severe car crash, making it even more crucial to know the seat’s history. Also, you have to ensure that it’s not a part of the recall list and all manuals and parts you need to use and install the seat correctly is complete and working.

If you have no way of checking out the kinds of things the used seat has gone through, then it is best not to buy and use it.

Are Cheap Car Seats Safe?

If your budget is limited, you’ll probably consider a new car seat for your baby with the lowest price tag. But are expensive models with premium add-on features safer? Not really. A higher price tag does not always mean quality.

Furthermore, all child car safety seats in the United States are required to pass crash and safety tests and meet federal safety standards. This means that you can find a safe child car seat within your budget.

However, keep in mind that there are seats that may perform better in certain types of crashes and situations. Also, it is not enough to buy The best-rated seat. You also need to install it properly to ensure the best protection for your child in case of an accident.

According to a study done by NHTSA in 2015, they found out that around 46% of infant car seats and toddler booster seats were not installed correctly. Proper car seat installation can make a massive difference in a car crash.

What If I Only Have A Budget For A Used Car Seat?

If your budget can only accommodate a secondhand car seat, then you should be very selective when picking one out. Here are some tips to remember when shopping around for a used seat:

  • Do not be tempted by a used car seat with a cheap price that would normally be expensive when new. An affordable brand new car seat is no doubt much better than a secondhand seat with a popular brand name.
  • Make sure to get used from friends, relatives, and people you know and trust that will provide you with the seat’s facts and history.
  • Check the seat’s expiration date on the seat itself. If it indicates the manufacturer’s date only, assume its standard lifespan and then add six years to find out if it has already expired or when it’ll expire.
  • If the seat is beyond its expiration date, you can bring it to the Target car seat trade-in event in select Target stores for recycling and in return, they’ll give you a 20% discount coupon which you can use to purchase a new car seat, seat base, stroller, or travel system.
  • Once you’ve purchased it, make sure to register the seat with its manufacturer.
  • Double check all its manual and parts. Some manufacturers make their manuals available for download on their website.
  • Carefully inspect the harness straps of the seat. Also, look for cracks in its EPS foam and shell.
  • After installation, take your child car seat and have it evaluated by a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician.

Annual Baby Crawling Race Went Down This Week

Lithuania baby race crawling baby

The 20-year tradition of having toddlers race to the finish in an annual baby crawl race went down in Lithuania this past Saturday, June 1 in the capital of Vilnius.

About 25 babies participated and crawled down a 16.4 foot red carpet, according to Reuters.

The contestants ranged in ages from 7 months to 1 year. Their parents were at the finish line, luring their kid to the end with treats, toys and balloons, as seen in video (above) of the event.

While researching for this post, I noticed Hawaii had one earlier this month as well. Here is the Eventbrite registration info! Too fun!

Prom Season Survival Tips for Parents

couple prom

Prom season is right here and with that comes a lot of stress for your children. This dance is built up to be the perfect night and your children might become frustrated if everything does not go smoothly in the run-up. Here’s a quick guide on how to be a helpful parent in the run-up to prom.

Make a Game Plan

When everyone begins to plan prom, sit down with your children and find out what help they need with planning. Your children are very nearly adults, they may be about to go away to college, and they might not want Mommy holding their hand through this process. If that is the case, step back and allow them to come to you when they have a problem. Wading in, even with good intentions, can backfire and cause unnecessary arguments.

Help Source Outfits

If you have a daughter, trying to find prom dresses she likes can often be compared to trying to find a wedding dress. Looking online can be a great place to start. Check out  Jovani prom dresses for inspiration; your daughter might even find one she really likes here. You should also head to your local dress shop. The advantage of going here over ordering online is that these shops will keep a record of which dresses have been sold. This means that your daughter will be able to guarantee that no-one will turn up to prom in the same dress as her.

Keep on Top of the Details

Your children might be more focused on the dance itself, or their outfits, and they may forget some of the smaller details. They will have a rental to get to the venue, but how are they getting home? Dresses, hair, and makeup have been arranged but what about shoes and purses? These are some of the things which might be forgotten but they are a key part of the night. If you think your children have forgotten, gently remind them that they need to think about these too.

Why not get them a disposable camera to take along? Many people love the retro aesthetic of disposable cameras. Your child can take as many crisp and perfect selfies as they want with their smartphones but you just can’t beat some candid, in the moment shots like a disposable camera has.

Offer to Host Beforehand

Quite often your children and their friends will want to get together beforehand to take photos and get in the right mood for the celebrations. Offer to host this little gathering at your house, especially if you have a garden which would make a nice backdrop for photos. Put together a snack table and some fun little non-alcoholic mocktails for them to sip on before they go away. If they have a dinner as part of the evening, it is likely to be quite a wait away and they will be grateful for the snacks to keep them going. Organising a little get-together like this allows them to relax and enjoy the final run-up with their friends.

Arrange Destressing Activities

If your children have organised everything themselves, why not arrange a few destressing activities to help them relax before the big night? It could even tie into their prom preparations with a spa day. They could have a massage to unwind, a facial to get their faces baby-soft and ready for make-up application, and then finish up with a manicure and pedicure. Alternatively, you can just take them out of the prom preparation headspace entirely. Go to your favourite place together; whether that is a restaurant, a beach, a museum, or the cinema. Do something together which is completely unrelated to prom and it will hopefully help them to take their mind off everything they still need to prepare.

Remind Them It’s Supposed to Be Fun

Whether they are on the prom committee or just attending as a guest, there is a very real possibility that they might become too fixated on having the perfect prom. Take the opportunity to remind them that it is supposed to be fun. This is one of the last chances they will get to spend time with their high school friends before they all go their separate ways into college and adult life. They need to relax and have fun at prom.

It doesn’t matter how you support your child through prom season. No matter whether you end up making the calls to the car rental and hiring the dress or whether you sit back and let them arrange everything, there is plenty you can do to help them through the process. Find out what kind of support your child needs now and help them have the prom of their dreams.
