Soften, Shrink, Flatten and Fade Scars, Keloids with This Product, It Worked for Me (REVIEW)

ScarAway works to soften, shrink, flatten and fade keloids, c-section scars, burn scars and more

Back in 2014, a rep for this revolutionary product for healing burn wounds, scars and other skin problems called ScarAway asked me to review the product. She explained that the product worked wonders for her then 2 1/2 year old daughter who suffered a 2nd degree burn on the family gas fireplace.

Scar Away is a self-adhesive silicone sheeting designed with patented ‘Silicon’ technology. Each sheet comes with a smooth fabric on one side with silicone on the other side.

The scar treatment works on visible older scars and newly healed wounds as well as keloids and hypertrophic scars.

I don’t recall ever reviewing it then.

Fast forward four years and I get a mysterious pimple on my lower lip. I should have applied hydrocortisone cream or some other astringent on it to heal but noooooo I did the wrong thing and popped it! Gross, I know!

Well then that pimple quickly turned into a growing hideous scab that looked all scaley (is that a word?) and after  a day or two and what a horrible place to have a hideous scar! Ugh! I wanted to hide.

I then remembered the Scar Away product sent to me for review and peeled  off the circular disc and applied it to the scar. I was self-conscious at first but the sheet is clear and from a slight distance away, non one can notice it. On the second day, I applied make up on top of it to conceal it some more.

Underneath, the silicon sheets which uses patented silicone technology that was previously only available in hospitals, burn centers and plastic surgery practices, formed a seal that mimics the skin when a scar is healing.

The seal worked to  soften, shrink, flatten and fade the scar. Though each box comes with 30 discs, I used about 4 and over the course of those few days, the scar almost totally went away. I certainly is less visible than before! What a miracle product.

It is a safe-to-use, practical, over the counter remedy and runs about $18.00 per box which can be considered steep but is a steal considering the healing properties and the wonders it does for you.  They are also safe to use on kids and on burns and other severe or extreme skin irritations.  The sheets won’t stain or stick to clothing, and conceal while they heal.

They come on flexible, breathable backing and can be cut to size to fit comfortably over scars and under clothing.

They sell them at all local drug stores and pharmacies and can be purchased online on Amazon.  

I found a review comparing it to Mederma and it put ScarAway on top! I have seen people online using it for their C-Section scar and stretch marks too!

I looked and saw the discs on sale at my local Rite Aid for $18.99 and Target sells them for about that much too! They are an EXCELLENT solution and one of the few out there too so, bookmark this post for future reference, parents!

Study: Fish Oil and Probiotics During Pregnancy Reduces Baby’s Allergies

Probiotics and fish oil supplements during pregnancy and breast-feeding may reduce the risk for food allergies and eczema in early childhood, researchers report.

In a review of hundreds of studies, they found 19 randomized controlled trials with strong evidence showing that compared to no supplements, probiotics taken after the 36th week of pregnancy and the first months of lactation were associated with a 22 percent reduction in the risk for eczema in children.

They also analyzed six randomized trials with solid evidence that women who took omega-3 fatty acid supplements during pregnancy and lactation reduced the risk for childhood allergic reaction to eggs, the most common food allergy, by 31 percent.

‘Bad Girl Club’s Tanisha Thomas Welcomes First Child

From Bad Girl to Mom.

Tanisha Thomas, former star of the Oxygen channel show The Bad Girls Club and host of subsequent permeations of the hit show about out of control young women living in a house, gave birth to her first child, son Prince Aiden.

Thomas took to Instagram to share the news.

“I am a woman of Many hats, however, this blessing right here is my greatest accomplishment,” she captioned a photo of herself cradling her baby in bed. “#PrinceAiden arrived at 11:58 PM On 3/7/18. Forever grateful to the amazing staff at NYU I really couldn’t do it without you. And Thank you for all of your beautiful words and love.”



Her beau Carey StHilaire also shared the news.

“Proudest moment of my life thus far Welcome to the world my Prince. Daddy and Mommy have so much in store for you. #PrinceAiden #blessings” he captioned his photo holding his son.

A day before, Thomas shared a dreamy maternity portrait expressing her anxiousness over the imminent arrival.

nother popular alum of the show Natalie Nunn and her husband welcomed their first child last year as well. It seems just like the Jersey Shore girls, all the bad girls settle down, marry and become moms and family women.

Like a lot of women who suffer a miscarriage loss, Thomas waited until half way through the pregnancy to announce the news.

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to,” Thomas explained. “After going through such a painful miscarriage during last years holiday season that literally almost tore us apart, Bae and I didn’t want to take any chances this time around and waited as long as we could to share the good news.”

Question of the Day: Would you Hire a hot nanny?

This week, one of our fave morning shows, “The Fam in the Morning” had a debate about whether one would hire an attractive babysitter, nanny or au pair. The female host, Danni Starr, said a pretty girl DM’d her in response to an Instagram post Starr shared asking for a nanny. Starr, whose ex-husband cheated on her with a stripper and had a baby with one of their sitters,  said she did not reply to the DM because she was not interested in exposing her new boyfriend to the attractive girl.  Things went left when the two male show hosts, DJ Quicksilva and DJ 5-9 invited the rejected DM girl on the show and the girl proceeded to call Starr insecure. The debate turned into an all out fight live on air and it ended with Starr storming out and later tweeting that she was looking for a new job.

It sadly happened today, on International Women’s Day. Anyway, the fight trended on Twitter in DC and eventually went international when several news outlets including the UK Daily Mail covered the ambush and subsequent spat and on air melee.

It reminded me of an article several years ago by now-defunct parenting blog Momlogic where they explored the idea of hiring a hot nanny and queried  women’s response to the suggestion.

Most recently, our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Mel B was embroiled in a battle with ex over an affair he had with their nanny.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ben Affleck, the late Robin Williams, Rob Lowe, Jude Law and other famous men have been caught having affairs with the nanny or babysitter. There are quite a few men who actually left their wives for the nanny. Certainly, there are examples among regular families too.

The site gathered responses from readers and below are the gems:

One of our Moms says her occasional sitter is gorgeous. “I’m less concerned about a sitter’s appearance than her personality. If I felt like she ‘connected’ with my husband in other ways—I’d have to let her go.”

Another Mom’s answer was short and sweet. “No.”She eventually added, “It’s like when you’re on a diet and you don’t want chocolate cake in the house. I trust my husband. But I really don’t want to expose him to temptation if I can help it!”

One Mom said “I don’t want some hot nanny in my house, picking up toys with her young, tight, little ass. Nope. I don’t want it.”

Another Mom said she’s always had nannies who looked like supermodels. “The funny thing is, my husband always hired them.” Okay. Hmmm.

International Women’s Day: New Sheros and Inspiring Women’s Dolls From Mattel

Just in time for today’s International Women’s Day, Mattel has announced that it will soon release a series of brand new Barbie dolls bearing the likeness of women pioneers like artist Frida Kahlo, aviator Amelia Earhart and mathematician Katherine Johnson. 

The three women made herstory in different industries: Earhart was the first female aviator to fly across the Atlantic Ocean; Mexican artist Kahlo was known for her unique painting style and feminist activism; and Johnson, who was highlighted in the 2016 film Hidden Figures, broke boundaries for black women in mathematics and calculated dozens of trajectories for NASA, including the 1969 Apollo 11 flight to the moon, an article in HuffPost on this news summarized.

The dolls are part of Mattel’s new series called “Inspiring Women,”  and will be mass produced and sold in stores.

No exact date was announced. The toy company did say that when released, each doll will come with educational information about the woman who inspired it.

“As a brand that inspires the limitless potential in girls, Barbie will be honoring its largest line up of role models timed to International Women’s Day, because we know that you can’t be what you can’t see,” Lisa McKnight, the senior vice president and general manager of Barbie, said Tuesday in a press release. “Girls have always been able to play out different roles and careers with Barbie and we are thrilled to shine a light on real life role models to remind them that they can be anything.”

Also in honor of International Women’s Day, on Thursday, Mattel is presenting again its popular Barbie’s “Shero” line  honoring 14 modern-day role models from around the world.

These dolls are not for sale though a few have wound up on store shelves, HuffPo adds.

The 14 new women Barbie is celebrating with its Shero line includes Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim, “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins and Australian wildlife conservationist Bindi Irwin. The line already honors women including director Ava DuVernay, actress Emmy Rossum, ballerina Misty Copeland and Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas.

Tia Mowry’s Crowning Moment at Essence’s Black Women In Hollywood Awards

How adorable and regal was Tia Mowry who was honored  at the Essence “Black Women in Hollywood Awards”that took place at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel last Thursday.

Hosted by Insecure’s Yvonne Orji, the event brought together Hollywood heavyweights like Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, Margaret Avery, and Ava DuVernay in the pre-Oscar celebration that highlights innovative and accomplished visionaries, as Deadline describes the event.

Mowry too is a vet to the industry though she is around the same age as newercomers Tiffany Haddish,  Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, Orji, Lena Waithe and other younger honorees.

A memorable capstone of this event was a photo shoot and video crowning of all the honorees.

Mowry’s husband, Cory Hardrict, is seen in their video gently placing a crown on the second-time mom-to-be’s head in an endearing Instagram share.

So sweet! The couple share a 6-year old s¡on Cree who is anxiously awaiting the arrival of a baby sister.

The Tia Mowry’s Quick Fix host announced the gender of her baby in a cute video on the YouTube channel.

Meanwhile… back at the ranch, the cookbook author and actress has been quietly giving us life via her Instagram account with her cute self.

Study: Device Addiction Has Kids Unprepared to Hold Pencils in Kindergarten

Children are increasingly finding it hard to hold pens and pencils because of an excessive use of technology, senior paediatric doctors have warned.

An overuse of touchscreen phones and tablets is preventing children’s finger muscles from developing sufficiently to enable them to hold a pencil correctly, they say.

“Children are not coming into school with the hand strength and dexterity they had 10 years ago,” said Sally Payne, the head paediatric occupational therapist at the Heart of England foundation NHS Trust. “Children coming into school are being given a pencil but are increasingly not be able to hold it because they don’t have the fundamental movement skills.

“To be able to grip a pencil and move it, you need strong control of the fine muscles in your fingers. Children need lots of opportunity to develop those skills.”

Payne said the nature of play had changed. “It’s easier to give a child an iPad than encouraging them to do muscle-building play such as building blocks, cutting and sticking, or pulling toys and ropes. Because of this, they’re not developing the underlying foundation skills they need to grip and hold a pencil.”

5 Non-Medicinal Alternatives For Debilitating Menstrual Cramps

A fraction of women get menstrual cramps so debilitating that they lose time from work or school.

While over-the-counter remedies like Motrin, Naproxen or Advil may work,  sometimes those fall far short of relieving menstrual pain.

Here are five alternative solutions that Dr. Prudence Hall, author of “Radiant Again & Forever”, suggests:

1. Magnesium: Take a magnesium supplement at night. Women who experience the most severe menstrual cramps typically have low levels of magnesium.

2. Bath Time: Take a warm bath with Epsom salts. These also contain magnesium.

3. Sex: Although it may sound counterintuitive, having sex – and orgasms – will definitely help relieve pain due to the hormones released into the body.

4. Oxytocin: Ask your doctor to prescribe oxytocin, a natural hormone (the same one that is released when women nurse). It has the effect of decreasing menstrual cramps and general body aches, while also producing an overall feeling of well-being. What’s not to like about that?

5. Omega 3: Omega 3 can also be very helpful as it helps to relieve inflammation.

Of course, Dr. Hall cautions that extreme pain should never be ignored and advises that all women check with their physicians to eliminate the possibility of such issues as endometriosis, STDs, or uterine fibroids.

Did Chrissy Teigen Really Ditch the Oscars for Taco Night At Home?

Did model, Lip Sync Battle host, and Twitter queen Chrissy Teigen announce that she is canceling attending the Oscars to eat tacos instead? Yup!

Shortly before the 90th annual event occurred at the Dolby Theatre on March 4, 2018 in Hollywood, California, Teigen tweeted, “I have cancelled Oscars Sunday and am trying to track down the taco truck featured in Ugly Delicious,” adding,  “does anyone around 6 months pregnant need a dress.”

Whether she was planning to attend or not is up in the air. She has been before. She was pregnant with daughter Luna in 2016 when she accompanied her husband John Legend who a year earlier won an Academy Award himself for Best Original Song for “Glory” in the film Selma.

He performed at the Governor’s Ball after the show but sans his wife.

But for second trimester preggers people, tacos are more important!
