Beefing Beauties: Anne Hatahway v. Kardashians; Kendra Wilkinson v. Holly Madison

It’s been a couple weeks of beefing among some the celeb moms we’ve featured on Bellyitch recently.

First Kendra Wilkinson came for currently preggers Holly Madison over stuff she had in her book regarding life in the Playboy mansion. It got pretty messy and raunchy and we’d rather not go into the details. Google it yourself. But..we do recall that the last time Madison released a book, there was a lot of press about accusations and other statements made within it. Nothing like a “tell all” to get people roused up…again.

Then, this week, brand new mom Anne Hathaway thought she was supporting her Alice: Through the Looking Glass co-star Helena Bonham Carter when she posted on Instagram a lovely photo of the brunette Brit, nicely dress with the caption, “In a world of Kardashians… be a Helena Bonham Carter.”

But within minutes of posting it, the Devil Wears Prada star quickly pulled down the post and replaced it with a photo of the words, “Post removed for unintended shade”. It was too late because the pic quickly gained 100,000 likes by then. Yikes!

The Princess Diaries star added that the diss was really unintentional, “It never occurred to me I was pitting anyone against each other. Not my style. Peace x”.

Good thing because the respectability police and the Kardashian fans were going to come for her with a quickness.

How to Take a DSLR Camera Selfie with Kids using Jennifer Borget’s Photography Hack

We talked about the importance of moms getting on the other side of the camera and being part of the moments they capture of their children’s lives. Modern smartphones have self-timers but if you have fidgety children and/or are working with an actual camera or a DSLR camera, you’re going to need to be more resourceful.

One of our longtime fave mom bloggers Jennifer Borget of The Baby Making Machine did an excellent video showing parents how to take selfies with their children using an app, their smartphone and a very clever hack!

Instagram Made these 11 Fashionable Kids ‘Internet Famous’

From 6-year old model Haileigh to Brazilian to Italian kid model Alonso Mateo, attractive and fashionable children (and their parents) have used Instagram to launch their careers into the stratosphere. I mean these kids have followers in the thousands and they get more likes per photo than the average Instagram users. Like, wowza!!!

Fashionable Rylee makes occasional appearances on her mom’s account.

Parisian Miss Kacey boasts over 10,000 followers and she isn’t even a teenager yet.

Kyan is the youngest and looks cute in his collection of adorable hats.

Ellington‘s dad manages his account but Alexander Yan‘s mom handles his.

Blogger Collette uses Ryan Gosling as the style for her two sons.

And Lyric Hurd has been a star since her adorable dimpled-pic from when she was 5-years old went viral.

At just 3-years old, Laerta has a wardrobe to die for and um 231, 000 followers to match.

Memorial Day Weekend is Here: Fun Stats & Facts

Memorial Weekend is upon us. To many, it is an excuse to escape the daily grind, pack up the kids or get with friends and head to the beach.

But the day that the weekend honors is so much more. Our fave site to get facts and stats, Wallet Hub has released its annual study of stats.

Here is a summary of interesting information to know about this weekend:

42+ Mil: Americans have served the country in war time.

1.3 Mil: Members of the armed services have lost their lives in conflict.

89% – Of Memorial Day weekend travelers will drive to their destination (2.1% increase from 2015).

818: Hot dogs are consumed every second from Memorial Day to Labor Day (7 billion total).

Look at NBC’s Shade-Filled Post about Donald Trump’s Unspoken Position on Pregnancy in the Workplace

Mainstream popular media organizations can give shade too, now.

Case in point: today NBC published an article about GOP Presidential Nominee Donald J. Trump which attempts to decode the presidential hopeful’s position on pregnancy in the workplace. The piece really backs into, but stops short of saying the man is hostile to pregnant women in business.

Note: Trump has never given an official position on this topic but this piece attempts to help the reader decode what that would be based on his past remarks.

Writer Ali Vitali leads with an interview with NBC’s Dateline in 2004 where Trump said pregnancy “it’s a wonderful thing for the husband, it’s certainly an inconvenience for a business. And whether people want to say that or not, the fact is it is an inconvenience for a person that is running a business.”

Hmmmm. Curious.

Then, the piece jumps several years to 2015 when the standard bearer for the Republican party told Fox Business‘ Stuart Varney, “you have to be careful with” paid family leave because it could impact keeping “our country very competitive” but “certainly there are a lot of people discussing it.”

The Curioser and curiouser.

Finally, Vitali brings up the March 2016 praise the business man had for his own daughter Ivanka Trump after she rushed to appear at a campaign stop with him only 10 days after giving birth to her third child.

“You know, she had a baby like 5 days ago,” Trump praised her during the rally, which was actually held 10 days after Ivanka gave birth. “She did a good job. So I should not say Ivanka, you’re fired, right? I promise.”

Well, when you say it like that!

To cap off the unspoken and indirect prognostication, Vitali quotes Trump saying that women love him but follows up with a quote from its own joint poll with the Wall Street Journal which has 63% of those polled saying that Hillary Clinton would be best at dealing with issues of concern to women, while only 16% of voters felt that way about Trump.

But don’t be swayed. Make up your own mind. (smile)

New Law Forbids Clubs From Denying Entry to Pregnant Women

When I was working as a publicist about a decade ago and pregnant, I was refused entry into a nightclub where my client was gigging at because I was visibly pregnant. Now if this event had happened today in New York City, it would be against the law for that club to deny me entry, thanks to a new law under the city’s Human Rights Commission guidelines.

Among other expansive protections for pregnant women for the purposes of protecting them from discrimination is a provision that says mothers-to-be can’t be kept out of bars or denied alcoholic drinks just because they’re expecting.

“Judgments and stereotypes about how pregnant individuals should behave, their physical capabilities and what is or is not healthy for a fetus are pervasive in our society and cannot be used as pretext for unlawful discriminatory decisions” in public venues, the new guidelines say.

And as you could guess, there is a lawsuit at the heart of this new law. A NYC agency lawyer, Lauren Elfant, told the Associated Press that the commission is looking into a case concerning a pregnant woman denied entry to a bar or club.

The law also protects those women who choose to have a glass of wine while pregnant as it is not against the law.

One woman AP interviewed for the report, Carlota Fluxa, said she occasionally ordered a glass of wine with dinner during her pregnancy as that is no big deal in her native Spain. While no one denied her the wine, Fluxa said she felt that “in general, a lot of people are paying attention to whether you’re drinking or not drinking.”

Is Chris Brown Right that this Photo of His 2-Yr Old Daughter is Inappropriate?

A few years ago, I did a blog post about children on Instagram being dressed like mini adults and the dangerous message it sends to children about valuing looks and the opinions of others over all other things.

It looks like Chris Brown, who is actively feuding with the mother of his daughter Royalty Brown, agrees. He skipped the option of picking up a phone and calling her to discuss his dismay over the outfit mom Nia Guzman chose to wear on their daughter for a ballet recital.

“It’s crazy to me that a parent would OK dressing our daughter like she 16. I ain’t cool wit that. SHE IS 2,” Chris commented under the picture.

Guzman, responded, “If anybody thinks something is wrong with a baby…mad at the world in dance class…in her TUTU…U need to go pray!”

On the one hand, I think it is the color of the tutu that makes it less innocent, than say a pink tutu, and the pose is a bit on the provocative side for a two year old. On the other hand, I believe that the public tends to sexualize things and people that aren’t being presented in a “sex”-related way. I think of breastfeeding as an example.

But still, the fact is there are a lot of pedophile and child pornography freaks out here in the online world and that outfit and pose is right up their alley. I mean, most of us wouldn’t want an innocent photo of our daughter we posted on social media to be circulated among disgusting sickos.

Right?

Not a Catfish but Its TV Version is Expecting & Now Engaged to his Girl

This isn’t the result of a catfish situation, but the founder of the popular MTV show about people who pose as other people to unsuspecting victims over the internet is expecting his first child with his longtime girlfriend, Laura Perlongo.

Nev Shelman announced that news on Twitter a couple weeks ago and now they are sharing that they are now engaged. Perlongo is 7-months pregnant.

Schulman announced the news on Facebook with a photo of the two embracing in bed.

“She said yes!!! I couldn’t be more more in love or excited to spend my life with this amazing woman. I’m so lucky I found someone I can be truly be myself around and always makes me smile. She’s creative, honest and chooses to always look on the bright side. Hope all of you find that person too. YAY love!”

Schulman also took to Instagram to announce the news.
