DOWNLOAD: How to Execute a DIY Fashion Shoot in 10 Steps (eBook)

diy-fashion-shoot1

A few years ago, I had to come up with all the steps for organizing a fashion shoot for this blog. It was daunting because after conducting online research, I discovered that there were no blog posts or other guides around providing step-bey-step instructions.

So I did it myself and shared the steps in a blog post that has since been accessed thousands of times.

Since I realized there was an interest and market for this information, I encapulsated it all and put it in an ebook that is available for download at Kindle and soon the iTunes store and Google Books.

If you or someone you know such as an aspring model, fashion blogger, photographer, stylist or any other fashion industry -type is thinking of producing a shoot and has a limited budget, this is the eBook for him or her.

No where else can you find a concise step-by-step guide so it is very worth the $3.99 cost!

Download it TODAY!

‘The Great Gasby’s Carey Mulligan Bumps It Up at 2015 Tony Awards

carey mulligan preggers (1)

In our Red Carpet coverage yesterday we totally missed the only preggers celeb at the Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall on June 7: The Great Gasby actress Carey Mulligan.

We loved her understated, yet still classic and polished A-line oxblood colored Balenciaga gown that just streamed over her bump fluidly. The Brit beauty is reportedly about 20 weeks along, E! Online reports.

Mulligan is married to Mumford & Sons front man Marcus Mumford. This will be the first child for the couple who wed in April 2012 at a farm in Somerset, England before 100 guests including their famous friends Colin Firth, Sienna Miller and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Congrats.

What’s up with our new obsession with Upper Eastside Manhattan Moms?

odd-mom-out-season-1-supertease (1)

It seems we are all obsessed with the posh and uber competitive lives of mothers of the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York.

They’re the buzz these days.

Recently, everyone went gaga after reading that New York Post interview with author Wednesday Martin about her much anticipated expose “Primates of Park Avenue” based on her life living among these women. All over comment pages, readers, mainly women, proclaimed their eagerness to see the bizarre world of wealthy Manhattan parents Martin described in her book eventually come to life on the small or silver screen.

It was as good as fiction! It very well could have been because it’s been revealed there were many holes in Martin’s claims about people, places and even the length of which she lived in Manhattan.

In any event,  eager audiences wouldn’t have to wait for Martin’s account to be adapted into a movie or series. BravoTV got ya covered!

Tonight, at 10pm ET, the cable network will debut Odd Mom Out, a scripted series that chronicles Momzilla life on Manhattan’s Upper East Side but from the perspective of a mom who doesn’t fit in.

Jill Kargman, a mom of three, created and stars in the series and chats about the series in the July issue of Parents magazine.

Here is an excerpt, reprinted with permission from Parents:

What is a Momzilla? A Momzilla is someone who channels all of her type-A ambition and energy into her child. I do believe there’s a Newtonian law of energy where all of your drive for your career abruptly gets funneled into the fetus.

Your character, Jill Weber, also has three children. Is she based on your own experience? When I had Sadie, I had no friends in New York who were parents and I felt really lonely. The challenges of that period of my life have been retooled for this show. A lot of moms I speak to say, “Enjoy this time while it lasts because it flies by.” And I want to smash them in the head because it was really hard.

Have you ever felt like the odd mom out? At a ballet class when my oldest was 2, I told her to sit down “Indian style.” These four perfect moms gasped and glared at me. One said, “You can’t say that. It’s ‘crisscross applesauce’ now.” I ran into the bathroom and burst into tears because I felt like I was doing it all wrong.

What’s your advice to other parents who feel this way? Fly your freak flag and know there are others like you. Even people you perceive to be the perfect mothers, who have it all together, sometimes feel like the odd mom out too.

Good stuff! Read the rest of the interview in the July issue of Parents on magazine racks now.

Check out the series teaser:

Weekend Red Carpet Roundup

Jennifer Lopes and Jennifer Nettles at the Tony Awards. SpikeTV Guy Awards nominee Taraji P. Henson

It’s been a busy couple of weekends for red carpet star-studded events starting with the June 2nd Glamour Women of the Year Awards at Berkeley Square Gardens in London, England.

We spotted several Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums like Kerry Washington killing it in a black David Komo bandeau top with gold embellished slim skirt with a deep split also by David Komo. Kate Hudson too was bringing this season’s plunging neckline trend to the forefront in her eye-catching Burnt Orange J.Mendel dress, accented with a gold Jimmy Choo clutch and Brian Atwood pumps. Rochelle Humes looked elegant as well.

Yesterday, at Spike TV‘s Guy Choice 2015 at Sony Picture Studios in Culver, City, we spotted Taraji P. Henson showcasing the white on white trend. With no surprise “Cookie” took home the Jean-Claude Ghad Dam award while another Bellyitch Bumpwatch babe Salma Hayek walked away with the much deserved Decade of Hotness award.

Tonight, at the Tony Awards, we saw a Jennifer Lopez was serving up the old Hollywood glam with the her wavy do in a darker shade than she’s been wearing lately. Her Valentino Couture  gown was elegant and perfectly accentuated with Harry Winston jewels, a Jimmy Choo purse and Christian Louboutin heels. Anna Chlumsky was also in the house in an eggplant colored form fitting Sophie Theallet dress.

I also adored what Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles wore too. She was gorg.

Kerry Washington, Kate Hudson and Rochelle Humes at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards.

My fave look for the weekend was not worn by a mom but Vanessa Hudgens. I loved the big bold floral patterns in this with the deep plunging neckline Naeem Khan gown. She looked Amaze Balls!

Single or Divorced Moms Guide to Coping through Father’s Day

Father’s Day for children of an absentee dad or who are products of divorce can be hard. Whether by reason of divorce, death or abandonment, the day can be challenging also for single moms. Women who are solo parents by choice also must deal with the stresses of filling both Mom and Dad’s shoes and that includes surviving Father’s Day.

HuffPost Divorce single parent expert Kerri Zane offered some salient advice in a 2013 post.  An excerpt:

1. Realize the day may be difficult for your kids. For single moms dealing with a divorce situation, a day honoring the one you least like in your life, at the moment, can seem unfathomable. This is the time to step into your children’s shoes. As tough as that pill is to swallow, you have to embrace the fact that they love you and they love him, too. It is an important day for you to allow them to celebrate their father without feeling any remorse or fear that they might be hurting your feelings.

2. Don’t pass judgment. Keep an upbeat attitude about your former husband. Your kids still respect him and want to please him. It is in your best interest to always be level-headed around your children and keep your unfiltered ex thoughts to yourself. On Father’s Day in particular you might even want to step up and share one of the reasons you fell in love with their dad in the first place. Extra brownie points for that!

3. Relax into the day. For divorced mommies an extra Sunday all to yourself can be a blessing. Try not to dwell on what the day used to be when you were one big “happy” family. Instead shift your focus and make it a day of cherished me-time. Do something for yourself that you wouldn’t normally do. Spend the day at the spa, get a massage, take an extra long walk, go to the beach and take a cheeky novel or lounge by a pool. Hang out with your other single mom girlfriends, drink mimosas and have a TGIEF=Thank God It’s Ex-Father’s Day.

4. Honor the dad that once was. If Dad’s no longer around because he’s passed on, allow your children to choose how they want to honor him. They can spend the day creating a card, writing a poem, reminiscing with scrapbooks or doing an activity they always used to do with him. It can be particularly challenging because it opens wounds for the passing of your loved one too, so go easy on yourself. If you feel like being sad, it’s okay. It’s real and heartfelt. Share your fondest memories and tell the stories in great detail, they’ll love hearing about him from your loving perspective.

Sage advice indeed. Read more form the original post in HuffPost Divorce HERE

Split Already: Brittney Griner files for annulment, disclaims Johnson’s pregnancy

brittney griner

No, this is not a storyline from the Young and the Restless but could be.

In one week, it was reported widely among the general public that WNBA players Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson had gotten into a violent domestic altercation in April that landed them both in jail, but that the couple married the following month and announced only this week that the two were expecting their first child as a couple.

Before the week was officially over, news came out that Griner filed  for an annulment from her marriage to Johnson.

TMZ  revealed on Friday court documentation Griner filed where she cites that the marriage was based on “fraud and duress.”

The Phoenix Mercury  player  also stated in the court papers that she has “no biological connection” to Johnson’s baby and is unaware of the circumstances behind Johnson’s pregnancy.

It’s confusing because only the day before Johnson posted on her Instagram account a photo of Griner caressing her pregnant bump. She captioned the photo:

“One day until I’m reunited with my Wife @brittneygriner, This is about to be one CRAZY SUMMER!!! #TooExcited #NewLife #NewAdditionToTheFamily.”

Johnson’s rep issued to TMZ this response to news of Griner’s annulment request:

Glory wouldn’t intentionally do anything to hurt Brittney and has tried her best to protect her and their marriage. Obviously this marriage was about them starting their life together. Glory is the sweetest thing in the world and she was dedicated to their partnership. She knows how important marriage is and made a lifetime’s commitment and decision to spend the rest of her life with Brittney.

What a Roller coaster!

Recall during the debate over the re authorization of the Violence Against Women Act  in Congress a few years back, several groups came forward to fight for the inclusion of women in same-sex relationships to ensure they are also protected.  Apparently, there is a high rate of underreported violence in lesbian relationships, as written about in The Atlantic.

We hope for the baby’s sake that all the conflicts will be resolved before he or she is born.

How to pull off Spring/Summer Trends for Preginistas

spring summer trends

Spring and warmer weather give fashion-conscious trendy women the opportunity to sport the latest  Spring and Summer Fashion Trends!

If you are type of the girl who loves to keep up with the latest seasonal trends, but are also pregnant, I got bad news. Most of the trends this season are difficult to interpret into maternity unless you’re in your first trimester. There are seasons when I cannot stand any of the trending items but this year I’m really loving the opportunity to experiment with geometrics and 70s-inspired clothing.  For my pregnant ladies, I usually recommend incorporating the trends through accessories, scarves, and jewelry.

I gave it a try and selected a few pieces I think maybe could be incorporated with each trend, as assembled by WeWomen.com.  My picks could give you some ideas of how you can pull them off. Enjoy! and Good Luck, preginistas!

‘The Real’s Tamera Mowry-Housley & Hubby’s On-Air Baby Showers (VIDEOS)

the-real

Recently, Tamera Mowry-Housley‘s co-host stars on the FOX daytime talk show The Real surprised her with a baby shower on air.

The panel were in the beginning of their “Girl Chat” segment, when co-host randomly said Loni Love say “she wanted a baby shower”.  The actress, blogger and entrepreneur looked genuinely shocked at the ornately decorated set and all the treats and gifts her co-panelists got for her.  To add the the cute on-air moment, at one point, her son Aden was rolled out in a wagon. Her hubby FOX news correspondent Adam Housley made a surprise appearance during the segment as well. Sweet.

In a way, it was a sort of “pay it forward” thing because earlier in the month on May 5th, she surprised her husband with a man shower including some of his best buds who participated in silly shower games on air. Not expecting the same, it was her turn! Awesomeness for a wonderful and beautiful couple. The pair will welcome their second child together, a girl, later this year.

Check out videos from each shower below:
