Trend Alert: 80s Acid & Stone Washed Jeans are BACK!

acid wash and stone washed trend

I was in the mall the other day and realized that acid and stone washed denim was back in style. Whoa! How did I miss this during the last season’s international Fashion Weeks ready-to-wear runway shows?

When I last saw that trend, it was the 80s and I was pretty sure back then that it would never make a come back. Never say never because the style has always been spotted on some of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums in recent weeks such as Hayden Panetierre, Busy Phillips, Kim Kardashian and Christina Milian.

And some of the trendier maternity lines are up on it. They have acid and stone washed offerings for the preginista who wants to stay hip and current during pregnancy.

And for new and veteran moms, many non-maternity brands are selling the trend too.

Would you revisit the 80s and go there?

Eco-Friday REVIEW: Aetrex sandals offer style and comfort for moms-to-be

201502emilyrose

It’s been awhile since we’ve had an Eco-Friday post sharing our latest finds, news and information about living an eco-friendly, holistic and natural lifestyle.

Today, I would like to share my experience testing out one of Aetrex‘s family of comfy, orthopedic friendly yet stylish athletic shoes,  sandals, thongs, slippers and other feet support products for men, women, children and families.

Moms-to-be get swollen feet,  and often times, they go up a shoe size. Another side-effect of pregnancy for many women is achy joints and muscles having to balance their new re-distribution of weight so they are grounded and balanced.

Having comfortable shoes are a MUST! This brand’s shoes indeed could help out in that department.

The pair I checked out, The Emily Rose Flip Flop (complimentary) retails for $99.95 and felt like butter on my feet.

I got them in the mail after a couple of marathon days at the gym, running on the treadmill. My heels needed a break! So these puppies were perfect. They are light and offer plenty of give. I literally felt like I was walking on air wearing them.

Since 1946, the company has specialized in comfort and wellness footwear. The makers seemingly have perfected the art and skill of manufacturing a quality comfort shoe.

The Emily thong sandal is a classic warm weather shoe and it is fully adjustable for the ultimate fit.

Highly recommend and the brand sells a variety of styles as well for different tastes and style palates. Check them out and find a store near you that sells them HERE!

6 Hacks to Get that Sun-Kissed Bronze Look this Summer

sunkissed

This summer, you don’t have to risk the dangers sun rays to get that bronzed and sun-kissed look by sunbathing for hours. There are plenty of tricks and hacks you can implore to fake it without baking yourself, compliments from our pals at SmileSimplicity.

Here are 6 easy Tips for getting that sunkissed and outdoorsy look with less the hassle:

1. Wear white and lots of it. And just as nice, you’ll feel and look cool and collected.

2. Consider a new nail polish. White isn’t the only color that will bring out your inner golden goddess. Any color that is lighter than your skin will make your

complexion look bold by comparison. Neons, corals, and golds are good choices.

3. Pile on the turquoise jewelry. This soft color pops against skin. Pastels like mint green work well too.

simplicity

4. Whiten your smile. There are many tooth whitening options on the market, from whitening toothpastes and mouth rinses to in-office treatments. But why

not brighten your smile permanently with SmileSimplicity porcelain veneers? This is a new generation porcelain veneer that doesn’t require any drilling away

of sensitive tooth structure and thus no anesthesia. Bonus: this magic transformation can also correct chips, cracks and imperfections.

5. Go for the bronze: Dust a bronzer over cheekbones, but ask the makeup counter expert to help you pick your shade. Ideally, it should be no more than

two shades darker than your natural skin tone. You’re going for glow, not stripes.

5. Choose a coral lipstick and sheer gold eye shadow.

 6. Sun kiss your hair with blond streaks. Already blond? Add dimension and

contrast with some low lights.

Trend Alert: Round Bold Statement Sunglasses

round sunglasses
You don’t have to like all the trends that come into fashion each season. As a person with a round face, I tend to stay away from sunglasses with round frames. So personally, I will be skipping out on the round statement sunglasses trend this Spring and Summer. The cool style has been spotted on some famous faces of late.
How about  you? Round Sunglasses: Are you a fan or no?

DOWNLOAD: How to Execute a DIY Fashion Shoot in 10 Steps (eBook)

diy-fashion-shoot1

A few years ago, I had to come up with all the steps for organizing a fashion shoot for this blog. It was daunting because after conducting online research, I discovered that there were no blog posts or other guides around providing step-bey-step instructions.

So I did it myself and shared the steps in a blog post that has since been accessed thousands of times.

Since I realized there was an interest and market for this information, I encapulsated it all and put it in an ebook that is available for download at Kindle and soon the iTunes store and Google Books.

If you or someone you know such as an aspring model, fashion blogger, photographer, stylist or any other fashion industry -type is thinking of producing a shoot and has a limited budget, this is the eBook for him or her.

No where else can you find a concise step-by-step guide so it is very worth the $3.99 cost!

‘The Great Gasby’s Carey Mulligan Bumps It Up at 2015 Tony Awards

carey mulligan preggers (1)

In our Red Carpet coverage yesterday we totally missed the only preggers celeb at the Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall on June 7: The Great Gasby actress Carey Mulligan.

We loved her understated, yet still classic and polished A-line oxblood colored Balenciaga gown that just streamed over her bump fluidly. The Brit beauty is reportedly about 20 weeks along, E! Online reports.

Mulligan is married to Mumford & Sons front man Marcus Mumford. This will be the first child for the couple who wed in April 2012 at a farm in Somerset, England before 100 guests including their famous friends Colin Firth, Sienna Miller and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Congrats.

How to pull off Spring/Summer Trends for Preginistas

spring summer trends

Spring and warmer weather give fashion-conscious trendy women the opportunity to sport the latest  Spring and Summer Fashion Trends!

If you are type of the girl who loves to keep up with the latest seasonal trends, but are also pregnant, I got bad news. Most of the trends this season are difficult to interpret into maternity unless you’re in your first trimester. There are seasons when I cannot stand any of the trending items but this year I’m really loving the opportunity to experiment with geometrics and 70s-inspired clothing.  For my pregnant ladies, I usually recommend incorporating the trends through accessories, scarves, and jewelry.

I gave it a try and selected a few pieces I think maybe could be incorporated with each trend, as assembled by WeWomen.com.  My picks could give you some ideas of how you can pull them off. Enjoy! and Good Luck, preginistas!
