Surprise! Keira Knightly; Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Welcomed New Babies

Two super private celeb moms welcomed  babies without much fan fare.

The Daily Mail reported that Pirates of the Caribbean star Keira Knightley and her husband James Righton have given birth as they were spotted pushing a stroller down the street.

The couple are parents to 4-year old daughter, Edie, who they manage to keep out of the public eye.

Similarly, another super private couple Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds welcomed their third child, last month in August, right before Reynold’s birthday or on his birthday, we’re guessing.

Our spies spotted them too in New York with a baby stroller and said they thought the new baby was a girl but we do not have pics so you just have to take our word for it…or not! (ha!)

Congrats to all!

Ex Cheerleader Found Not Guilty of Killing Her Baby She Buried in Backyard

A jury 20-year old ex cheerleader from Ohio was just acquitted of crushing the skull and killing her newborn baby daughter and burying the baby’s body in her family’s backyard.

On Thursday, Brooke Skylar Richardson, known as “Skylar”,  learned the jury believed her claim that the baby was stillborn and thus she was only convicted of “abuse of corpse” and will likely not see additional jail time, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Her defense team convinced the court that she was manipulated by police to confess to killing a live baby, said she was sexually abused at age 12 by an older boy and suffered from an eating disorder and another personality disorder that caused her to want to please authority figures.  A few media accounts of this popular story painted Richardson’s mom as the source of the anorexia for putting a lot of pressure on her daughter to get and remain thin.

What also made the story fascinating and become a press magnet was the fact that Richardson was told about the pregnancy in April 2017, a few weeks before she gave birth but she wore a red sparkly dress, obviously revealing quite a big baby bump, to prom with her new boyfriend who is not the baby’s father.

She had a brief fling with another boy who is the dad that resulting in the pregnancy in March 2016.

Per PEOPLE:

Prosecutors allege that Richardson did not want to be a single teen mom with college only a few months away. In the weeks after learning of her pregnancy, Richardson didn’t return for an ultrasound, bloodwork, or any other treatment, while also ignoring calls from the doctor and assistants, prosecutors have said.

In a police interview played in court last Thursday, Richardson allegedly told police that she didn’t return her doctor’s phone calls because she was scared. “I didn’t really want to have my baby,” she told police. “I really don’t know what I planned to do.”

The abuse of a corpse crime Richardson was convicted of this week is a 5th degree felony, which typically carries a sentence of six to 12 months in prison. But Richardson could get probation as a first-time offender.

Apple’s New Period Tracker Can Help You Get Pregnant

Because I am Team iPhone and I am aware of the ongoing beef/battle with Samsung Android users, I am happy to report that Apple has beat Samsung with developing a period tracker that can help women that are trying to conceive have a baby!

Apple announced that beginning September 16, the watchOS 6 update will add a functionality to allow women to track their menstrual cycle. Apple Watch app, called Cycle Tracking, will quickly log information about your cycle, including the timing, flow level, symptoms, and results from ovulation prediction kits.

It is a standalone app on the Apple Watch ($384 at Amazon)and is built into the Health app on the iPhone ($1,000 at Amazon).

Using the data produced, your Apple Watch can alert you when your period is coming, and estimate the window when you are most fertile.

Tracking your cycle is essential also when you have your next annual OB/GYN check up, you will be able to give your doctor

For starters, it can give you a sense of when your last menstrual began and ended, so you can give your Ob/Gyn healthcare provider  the precise length of your cycle and provide clues for conditions such as endometriosis or polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

Also, during your period, you can log your flow level and symptoms like cramps or headaches.

I see Samsung users community are waiting for it to be available on those devices. In the meantime, there are numerous apps available in the Google Play store that can do the trick, until then. (smile)

PBS Playtime Pad+ Can Prep your Tot for Pre School {Review}

PBS kid aubrey laptop

PBS kid aubrey laptop

If you have a little one starting pre-school, you’re going to want him or her to get started before school starts and therefore should supplement his schooling with play, educational toys and games and software.

I’ve blogged often about my affinity for ABC Mouse, IXL Math and other online tools and recently was offered the PBS Kids Playtime Pad by EMATIC (retail $69.99) to check out .

It is a kid-safe tablet that connects to LIVE TV and PBS shows via Wi Fi on at 7 inch tablet screen.

The Specs

The device comes with a  .5 GHz Quad-core with dedicated GPU Android, 6.0 Marshmallow, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB of storage and a Micro SD Card though you can add up to an additional 32 GB with a memory card. It also includes a G-Sensor, is Wi-Fi ready and has Front & back Cameras.

Plus, your kid can enjoy 6.5 hours of play time with a single charge. The silicone case is comfortable to touch and protects the tablet from bumps because kids can get clumsy and drop them.

Also, Parents can easily change the default home at any time turning the PBS KIDS Playtime Pad into a full featured Android tablet

Ease of Use:

This device is super intuitive and easy to figure out, maneuver and enjoy. My 3-year old niece Aubrey hit the ground running after we powered it up, connected to the internet and set up an initial account and password.

Seriously, she needed no further help or input from me to get the device going. She’s a very smart cookie but I imagine kids these days that grow up with technology are quite savvy when it comes to electronic devices.

If your kid is not familiar with digital  devices, you may need to do more hands on walk through.

Cost

The tablet runs $69.99 which is quite reasonable for all you get and considering the device can be used with more than one child or a parent if converted into a normal Android tablet. Another plus is that there are no in-app purchase options! Woot!  Parents do not have to worry about their 5-year old downloading hundreds of dollars worth of digital add ons and doo dads.

To play, there is also no need to subscribe to a monthly plan or club. It it literally a plug and play, all-in-one device.

The Games and Activities

The games and activities offered would help her build all the skills she needs to succeed in pre-school when she starts next year. Her mom and I are confident in PBS because it is the #1 Educational Media Brand for children and the company is widely recognized for its innovation.

The educational content installed and downloadable are award-winning, curriculum based and developed with early childhood experts. It comes with hours of free entertainment and over 60 PBS Kids games and videos.

You can set up different profiles if there are more than one child in the family who could use it and approve or block the additional apps so there is total parental controls.

We loved it and I think it would make a pretty great Christmas or Holiday gift for a young kid or a great birthday or anytime gift!

Get it for $69.99 at Amazon.com using my affiliate link!  Thank you!

After 10 Boys, Couple Welcomes First Baby Girl

After first becoming a mother to a bouncing baby boy when she was 22, Alexis went on to have nine more babies over the next 15 years – all of them male.

In fact, she and husband David were the first British couple known to have had ten boys in a row.

But now something truly astonishing has arrived in the Brett household: a baby girl.

Cradling her new arrival last night, Alexis, 39, told The Daily Mail on Sunday: ‘We’re over the moon. I’d been expecting to hear we were having another boy but when I found out it was a girl, my face was a picture. I was shocked but delighted. Now she’s here with us, it’s a fantastic feeling.’

The birth of her daughter, named Cameron after the actress Cameron Diaz, has already had a remarkable effect on the lives of her brothers, whose ages range from 17 to two.

David, 44, a train driver, said: ‘She’s already having a good influence on the boys. They have generally been much better behaved around her, trying to keep quiet in case they wake her up. They also want to help with holding and feeding her. It’s been great.’

Cameron’s arrival on August 27 – weighing 7 lb 2oz – marks the completion, the couple insist, of their large family, which includes Campbell, 17, Harrison, 16, Corey, 14, Lachlan, 11, Brodie, nine, Brahn, eight, Hunter, six, Mack, five, Blake, three, and Rothagaidh, two.

‘We’re definitely stopping now,’ laughs Alexis.

Former Google Employee’s Pregnancy Discrimination Suit Moves Foreward

A former Google employee whose memo alleging discrimination against pregnant women went viral is moving forward with her claim against the company.

“As a Google employee I witnessed pregnancy discrimination, and then was faced with it in my own life,” Chelsey Glasson, who worked at the Mountain View, Calif. company for more than five years as a user research lead and manager, said in a statement Wednesday. “And, like so many women, I felt threatened by retaliation for reporting the discrimination. This memo, which I published internally at Google and has been read by over 11,000 Google employees, states clearly why we must continue to fight this bias.”

Glasson added that employees who bring up pregnancy discrimination are often silenced or forced to suffer consequences that damage their careers in the long term.

“With a goal of shedding light on pregnancy discrimination and advocating for needed public policy and other changes, I will move forward with legal action,” she writes.

Two Google employees who helped to organize the 20,000-strong global walkout also alleged that the tech giant retaliated against them — a claim that the search giant has denied. The massive walkout was in response to issues of sexual harassment, as well as pay inequity and racial justice.

India Cracks Down On Its ‘Rent-A-Womb’ Industry

India has long been regarded as the rent-a-womb’ capital of the world because of its barely regulated market that has allowed a reproductive trafficking industry  to thrive, but that may be coming to an end.

“Due to lack of legislation to regulate surrogacy, the practice of surrogacy has been misused by surrogacy clinics, which leads to rampant commercial surrogacy and unethical practices,” a new bill banning surrogacy in most cases reads.

Womens rights groups have called out these ‘baby factories’ for benefiting mainly the rich at the expense of  poor, uneducated women who don’t understand the impact of surrogacy on their bodies and emotions.

A recent study conducted on infertility clinics in New Delhi revealed that a lot of the women are not fully aware of the risks and complications of repeated egg donations and pregnancies.

Last month, the Indian government called this move “the need of the hour” and passed the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2019, in the Lok Sabha (Lower House of the Parliament), which has put in place strict conditions on what constitutes legal surrogacy in India.

According to Vice:

In India, the surrogacy market is thriving. Commercial surrogacy was legalised in 2002, though it was later banned in 2018. Surrogate mothers in India reportedly earn anything between Rs 4,00,000 to Rs 1.2 million (US$5,628-16,885) per birth, depending on the location and the clinic. But the proposed bill wants to ensure that this booming industry comes to an end.

The proposed bill only allows those Indian couples who have been legally married for at least five years, to opt for surrogacy. Additionally, the surrogacy will only be allowed for “altruistic” reasons for the married couple, who should be aged between 23-50 (for female) and 26-55 (for male). The surrogate mother herself should be a “relative” to the couple, along with being “an ever-married woman having a child of her own and between the age of 25-35 years”.

We’ll be monitoring developments.

Report: Parents Are Ditching the Name ‘Alexa’ For Their Baby Girls

alexa amazon echo device

alexa amazon echo device

According to recent data, Amazon‘s Alexa-enabled virtual assistant device is causing parents in the UK and America to abandon it a choice for their baby’s name, the UK Telegraph reports.

The UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that the number of girls born in England and Wales in 2018 and named Alexa has reduced by more than 50% since 2017.

Nick Stripe, from the ONS, said: “We’ve seen a similar pattern in the American baby names data, so something must be going on.

“It has dropped by more than 50%, so I think there is probably evidence of a link.”

Although only 301 girls were given the name in 2017, the number fell to 118 in 2018.

Can you blame the parents? Who wants their baby named after a robot who too many people abuse with silly queries?! Ha!

See How Amber Rose is Promoting Sensuality in Pregnancy

Amber Rose promoting swim wear pregnant

Mode and actress Amber Rose has always been about women embracing their sexuality and refusing to be slut shamed for doing so, therefore it should come as no surprise that she chose to promote a line of swimsuits she is brand ambassador for the way she did.

The “Slutwalk” founder shared a post of herself in a red and white cow print top and bikini bottom while sitting on a luxe upholstered chair, bearing her belly and with her legs parted open facing the camera. Wow!

I am a big proponent and advocate for pregnant women being seen as sensual and sexy even while carrying life, so this is a wow-worthy moment.

No respectability politics over here.

Rose is expecting her second child with her boyfriend, rapper Alexander “AE” Edwards  . She is mom to 6-year old Sebastian Thomaz, who she shares with her ex fiance, rapper Wiz Khalifa.

According to BCK Online, Rose is expecting another son.
