‘Torn’ Singer Natalie Imbruglia Expecting First Child Solo via Sperm Donor and IVF

Singer Natalie Imbruglia, most famous for her 2000s hit “Torn“, announced recently that she is expecting her first child at age 44, thanks to modern science and use of a sperm donor and IVF.

The star shared the news on her Instagram page and then shared it via Twitter.

“As you can see from the pic . . . there is another announcement . . . (no I haven’t swallowed a watermelon),” she wrote of the first photo in the Instagram gallery. “I’m expecting my first child this Autumn. For those of you that know me, this has been something I have wanted for a very long time and I’m blessed that this is possible with the help of IVF and a sperm donor – I won’t be saying anything more on that publicly. I’m so excited about this next adventure . . . a new album and I’m going to be a mum!”

She also used the occasion to announce she is newly signed with BMG music group and is working on a new project.

While many celebrity women like Sandra Bullock, Kristin Davis, and Charlize Theron, Sharon Stone and Denise Richards, who were not in a committed relationship have adopted children, few have gone the route (publicly) of getting artificially inseminated by a donor.

Model Monica Cruz, who is also the sister of actress Penelope Cruz, did so in 2013 and welcomed daughter Antonella Cruz shortly after.

Monica too stayed away from prying questions.

Monica said she stayed away from the limelight and  “isolated” herself to avoid answering tough questions about the circumstances of her pregnancy.

“I wanted to avoid, above all, that they spoke about possible fathers, or the possible candidates to be it,” she told a Spanish magazine El Pais in January. She decided later to not perpetuate an already taboo subject and to come out in public with the news.  “So I have decided to tell all. To become pregnant, I turned to artificial insemination… I want to tell also so I can have the opportunity to show my thanks to all those anonymous men that give many women like me, the dream of their lives.”

The Absolute Best Instagram Photography Book You’ll Ever Need to Read {Review}

Instagram coach Sara Tasker‘s new book “Hashtag Authentic” providing guidance, tips, and advice from her half-decade experience curating a very successful Instagram account & hosting a popular podcast of the same name is the BEST around.

A lot of information out there on YouTube, in books and courses try to teach you how to become popular on Instagram by suggesting you use certain tricks and techniques to grow a following, but few are like Instagram coach Sara Tasker‘s book, “Hasthtag Authentic” which shows you how to truly master the art of telling an authentic story through your Instagram feed and by default grow an engaged organic following.

This book is phenomenal and is a genuine, refreshing and info-packed guide on photography for Instagram.

I have listened to Tasker’s podcast for bloggers and influencers of the same name for quite some time and had no clue she was coming out with a book, so when her publisher’s offered it me to preview, I jumped at the opportunity.

I devoured the first half of the book immediately, soaking up all the tremendously helpful nuggets, then life got in the way.

Thanks to family, work obligations and this very blog, I’ve struggled to find time to make my way through all of it in a timely fashion to draft a review.

Nonetheless, I made sure to return to the book, time and time and again, so that I could digest the various tremendously informative and instructional chapters.

It Just Flows and is Fantastic

Hashtag Authentic has it all, from how to tell a story through photos, to mastering the precise art and practice of composition, subject placement to editing and creating the most appropriate captions to capture and share various settings and objects: food, craft making, road trips and travel, weather and seasons, special occasions and holidays, family, dress up, landscapes and more.

I cannot say more about how excellent this book is. It’s not just for those who are approaching Instagram to become an influencer, but also perfect for those who just want to share their lives, a personal journey, their fashion, their kids, or anything else personal to the world.

It’s an excellent text and resource and very easy to read and digest.

Not Just Tasker’s Voice

I also appreciate the fact that that the book balances out the perspectives of the author with other experts and masters at Instagram storytelling. Throughout the book, readers can find little snippets of wisdom offered by other successful Instagrammers.

Hashtag Inspiration

Tasker also provides some awesome hashtags that we should check out for inspiration and ideas. I also appreciated being hipped to some photo challenges which are great for keeping you going and active when you have a creativity block.

Learn from watching

While her personal aesthetic and scheme are not really my cup of tea, I still learned a lot from watching how she implements her lessons and I can see why they have an appeal.

Readers can easily apply the principles to their own feed, likes and tastes.

Not preachy

Tasker does not preach or condescend. She approaches the reader as a student and is patient with her handling of each section.

Her voice is authentic, and genuine and she seems to anticipate everything down to the fact that some of her hashtag suggestions may eventually be overrun by spammers and her fave editing apps, for example, may grow outdated.

She is very thoughtful and contemplative and that’s what makes this book so wonderfully comprehensive and instructional. Tasker has thought of it all.

Comprehensive guide

Like I said, the book is not just about tricks to grow a following but about how to take a holistic approach to social media and Instagram.

She suggests how to master Instagram stories, gives a recipe for success, offers ideas for stories, and talks about being safe online, knowing how to avoid the comparison traps and know when you’re being marketed to.

It’s a complete wonderful read and a resource book that you can can turn to over and over again and loan out to others starting out in the game.

8 Great Gift Ideas for New Moms

Author: Benjamin Lee

Whether you’re a spouse, family member or friend, the birth of a new baby is always a joy. To celebrate this joyous occasion, it’s natural to want to shower both baby and mom with plenty of gifts.

Ideally, your gift should be both heartfelt and thoughtful. However, in a market saturated with baby gifts, it can be difficult to make a choice. Not all of us are particularly great at gifting. While the thought really does count, buying the new mum a wrong gift is a major boo-boo.

Oftentimes, new mums are inundated with baby shoes and clothes amongst others. Get to know the mother first and who knows, maybe she is a sports fan and you can give her a themed baby gift. You would be surprised, but since we are in the NFL preseason, do you know the American football league has a section for toddlers, with bodysuits that have the badge or logo of the different teams?

But what about mum herself? Doesn’t she deserve to enjoy herself to? To lend you a hand, here are some great gifting ideas for the new mum.

1. Gift cards

While not the most original, gift cards allow the new mum to buy herself or baby something nice. After the initial stress of childbirth, she should be allowed to reward herself. For a different take, you can also put together an assortment of gift cards for the new mum. This allows her to pick and choose gifts for her and the baby.

2. A spa session

While we can all agree that childbirth is a beautiful thing, the entire experience often leaves new mums drained and tired. This is why a comprehensive spa session may be just what the doctor ordered. From relaxing deep tissue massages to cleansing body scrubs, she’ll leave the spa feeling refreshed and energized.

3. The Amazon Echo Dot

Chances are mum’s gonna have her hands full caring for her bundle of joy. Why not lend her a hand with the Amazon Echo Dot, a voice-controlled virtual assistant. With the Echo Dot, let Alexa lend a hand around the house. Whether you’re making appointments with the pediatrician or checking the weather, the Echo Dot is a great gift for tech-savvy mummies out there.

4. Personalized clothing

The birth of a child should be a commemorative affair for the entire household. For something a bit special, personalized clothing like a t-shirt for mum and a jumper for baby are a great choice. The t-shirt and jumper can have baby’s name and date of birth or something cutesy like a picture embroidered on.

5. A yoga mat

Post-birth, mum would most likely be very eager to shed off those pounds. So why not help her out by giving her with a yoga mat. Yoga is a low-impact form of exercise that helps new mum’s shed weight. Along with this, yoga helps to relax the mind and reduce stress, all of which would be extremely helpful for a new mother.

6. Baby car seat

For any parent, the safety and wellbeing of their child is number one. This is even more so for the mum and dad of a newborn baby. Give them the gift of safety with a top-quality baby car seat. These car seats are designed to transport a new-born baby safely and comfortably thus giving mum or dad peace of mind when they’re on the road.

7. Baby accessories

Besides being absolutely adorable, baby accessories also ensure that baby is warm and comfortable at all times. With their weak immune systems, it’s fairly easy for a newborn child to catch a chill. A baby cap will protect the little one from catching a chill while baby mittens will protect him/her from accidentally scratching themselves.

8. Maternity bras

Nursing the newborn baby can be a challenge for any mum as breastfeeding can mean sore or tender breasts. So, give her all the support she needs with a quality maternity bra. These bras are specially designed to be soft and easy to wear while also making feeding baby a cinch.

The Only Mom on the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Champs US Team Shares Victory with Son

US Women's National Team Soccer player Jessica McDonald and son Jeremiah

One of the best photos of today’s US Women’s National Team defending VICTORY against the Netherlands in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Championship was a photo of the only mom on the American team, Jessica McDonald, and her 7-year old son, Jeremiah, sprinkling confetti on her head.

Before the tournament, The Associated Press ran a feature late last month on McDonald, who made her debut at the start of the second half against Chile during round one.

About her son being able to appreciate the magnitude of what his mom was about to do, McDonald said, “he doesn’t fully understand, but at least he’s at an age right now where he’s actually going to remember this.”

She added: “He’s going to look back and be like, ‘Wow, I was there. Wow, my mom actually is cool — like she said.’”

McDonald was but among a handful of mothers, a select few that also includes Argentina goalkeeper Vanina Correa, Jamaica forward Cheyna Matthews, Brazil defender Tamires and South Korea defender Hwang Bo-Ra.

“I tried to explain to him: ‘Buddy, we’re going to the World Cup,’” the American forward remembered. “And he’s just like: ‘OK, can I have a toy now?’”

McDonald is a marvel to her teammates, who are amazed the 31-year old can balance her mommy duties with professional sport, solo.

“I don’t know how she does it,” midfielder Morgan Brian said in the report. “It’s pretty remarkable when you think about it and know how much we sacrifice and we put into this team and how much effort off the field that we have to give, and to know that her time is limited off the field and recovering and doing all the things that she needs to do. It’s pretty impressive that she’s here at this level.”

Left back Crystal Dunn is also stunned by McDonald.

“She’s always talking about how early she has to wake up to make sure Jeremiah is taken care of,” Dunn said. “I wake 10 minutes before training and I’m annoyed training gets pushed up earlier and earlier sometimes. But her ability to balance life is just incredible and I think, hopefully, going forward more women choose her route and not feel like they have to choose their career over having a family. I think the new generation is going to feel like they have the option of doing both.”

Traveling to France maybe new to Jeremiah, but being on the road with mom is not new because he has been her road dog since birth.

His mom has played for Melbourne in Australia and for professional teams in Chicago, Seattle, Portland, Houston, Western New York and North Carolina.

The US Soccer Federation paid for a nanny to care for Jeremiah in France, thanks to a deal worked out by fore mothers who worked out a deal, Joy Fawcett (1995, 1999, 2003) and Carla Overbeck (1999).

Though McDonald has used her teammates as baby sitters, there is a lot of work still to be done towards more rights for working moms on the club level of teams.

McDonald is among seven moms in the National Women’s Soccer League, joined by Portland midfielder Dagný Brynjarsdóttir, Chicago defender Sarah Gorden, Orlando forward Sydney Leroux, Washington forward Cheyna Matthews, Utah’s Rodriguez and Chicago midfielder Michele Vasconcelos.

“There hasn’t been any positive steps for moms in the NWSL,” McDonald said. “Now we’re kind of getting our heads together, getting ideas together, and so now we can start somewhere as moms. … Child care is not cheap. And if you look at our paychecks and you look at child care, there goes our paycheck. How are we going to eat? So yeah, it’s needs to change. We need to do something about it, being helped financially at least.”

We know now that after today, and all the rallying cry for the US Women’s Team hopefully may be on its way to finally getting parity with the US Men’s team which earns about $13,000 per game while the women earn under $5K, while being more successful and generating more excitement, titles and wins than the men’s team.

Come on man, These are the champions!

Inside Gretchen Rossi’s Elaborate Baby Shower

“It took me 41 years to have this baby,” Real Housewives of Orange County alum Gretchen Rossi told PEOPLE magazine when they asked if she would be overprotective of her first child ever. “I’m probably going to be crazy protective.”

Since it was a long time coming, that might explain the over-the-top and very elaborate Laguna Beach baby shower she and her partner Slade Smiley had back in May to celebrate the baby girl who is due to arrive this July 11 and who the couple have decided to name Skylar

[She had an elaborate Gender Reveal party too]

The event which took place at a lux venue overlooking the beach, was attended by several current and former Bravolebrities including Real Housewives of Dallas star D’Andra SimmonsVanderpump Rules star Scheana ShayPhaedra Parks (Real Housewives of Atlanta), Patti Stanger (The Millionaire Matchmaker) and Rossi’s former RHOC costars Lizzie Rovsek and Peggy Tanous.

Guests enjoyed a whiskey bar from Distillery 291, cigars from Master Roller Cigars , with Kiss FM’s DJ Chunk on the 1’s and 2s and a Sub Zero Ice Cream booth provided custom frozen desserts — including Skylar’s Shower Cake (cake-batter ice cream with cookie dough and rainbow sprinkles), Rossi’s “Rocking” Road (chocolate ice cream with marshmallows and almond slices), Slade’s “Sleepy” Salted Caramel (salted-caramel ice cream with pretzels) and Family Fruity Fusion (raspberry and marshmallow ice cream with mixed berries).

Rossi and Smiley even had a romantic, smoke-filled slow dance to “I Get To Love You” by Ruelle.

Rossi wore a white empire-waist plunging neckline lace gown by Project Runway designer Michael Costello with flowing sleeves, paired with diamond teardrop earrings, flats and a necklace that spelled her daughter’s name.

From PEOPLE about the food:

There was plenty. Guests nibbled on meat, cheeses and fruit on an epic charcuterie spread by Samira Weddings and Events, and enjoyed other appetizers off a 16-foot-long grazing table of tasty bites by Lucky Board LA. A huge ice tower held shrimp, clams, oysters and other seafood.

There was a huge variety of desserts, too — the centerpiece of which was a six-tier wedding-style cake in shades of pale pink and white, with a gold-detailed crown on top.

Cupcakes were topped with intricate designs, like baby carriages and white flowing dresses. Sugar cookies came in a variety of shapes, such as baby onesies (hanging on hangers) and sleeping babies. Towers of chocolate strawberries and macarons from Regal Delights offered other edible treats.

These 14 Small Life Changes Could Make You Happier

Be Happy.

It’s something that is often easier said than done for a lot of us out here running the rat race that is life.

But believe it or not, there is science to back over 100 theories of things that make us happy or happier.

Mindful assembled a list of over 100 things that we can do to be happier people. In this post, I excerpt 14 of the tips that have worked for me below and I try to implement in my life.

Have at Least 10 Good Friends

survey of more than 1,700 individuals found that people who have 10 good friends or more were happier than those who had less.

Conducted by Nottingham University, data collected suggest that having less than 6 friends made you more likely to be unhappy than happy. Meanwhile, those who had between 6 and 10 friends could swing either way.

The findings show that friendship is a key predictor of happiness. Whether the friends you have come from childhood, work or just recently acquired, it didn’t matter.

The study also suggests that the more friends, the more likely you are to be happy.

It did mention however, the potential danger of having too many friends. Doing so may result in not having enough time to nurture all the relationships. In which case, you’d end with many friends you weren’t close with.

These less meaningful relationships didn’t really provide as much value as good friendships.

Engage in Meaningful Conversations

conversation

There’s nothing wrong with small talk. In fact, it’s often fun.

But if you’re looking to get to know someone, build a more meaningful relationship and make yourself happier, skip the chit chat.

Instead, spend more time having meaningful conversations.

study by the University of Arizona reveals that more substantive conversations led to feelings of satisfaction. Following 80 individuals and their conversations over a 4 day period, researchers found that spending less time with small talk and engaging in more meaningful conversations resulted in higher levels of well-being.

It findings also show that those who spend more time talking to other people rather than being by themselves were also happier.

The observations bring us back to the point that human beings are social creatures. And a happy life is intrinsically linked to spending time with others instead of solitude.

Talk About the Things that are Bothering You

Talking about something that’s bothering you lets it off your chest. This helps relieve the tension from within.

In a review of 11 studies covering more than 1,500 patients, talk therapy was found to be just as effective as antidepressants in treating depression.

Apparently, it isn’t just the things that are troubling you that you can talk to others about.

Research also suggests that talking about positive things like achievements and memorable moments likewise boost our mood.

The study did 5 small experiments to see how sharing positive news in various ways affected happiness.

In all the trials, sharing good experiences boosted satisfaction and happiness levels. However, the effects hit their highest point when the listener provided an active-constructive response.

This tells us that the person you share to is just as important as the sharing itself.

In addition, it’s not always easy to open up to someone, much less to someone who you aren’t close to or who won’t be able to give you the response you need.

Try New Things

While getting over your fear or anxiety of trying something you’re not sure of can be frightening, science offers evidence that new experiences and adventures make us become happier.

In analyzing over 500 diaries and 30,000 event memories, Winston-Salem University psychologist Rich Walker discovered that people who engaged in different types of experiences were more likely to retain positive emotions and minimize negative ones compared to those who had less experience variation.

Plus, trying out new things and experiences opens us up to learning and growing as a person. Who knows, you may turn out to really like whatever it is you decide to try.

But what if you aren’t the curious or adventurous type?

Carnegie Mellon scientists observed that there are a few characteristics that influence the willingness to explore. These include:

  • Availability (removing obstacles, being responsive and open),
  • non-interference (not doing anything to jeopardize the curiosity or activity) and
  • encouragement (accept and take on the challenge)

These are some characteristics you can try to work on to make yourself experience different things.

Ditch Warm Showers for Cold Ones

If you’re a fan of warm showers, you may want to switch to cold ones for its health benefits.

study conducted by the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine discovered that taking cold showers help reduce depression. Exposure to cold promotes the increase of neurotransmitters in our brains that helps improve mood.

In addition to boosting happiness levels, cold showers have also been scientifically shown to improve circulation and respiration. It likewise reduces muscle inflammation, fatigue and helps you lose weight.

learning guitar

Learn Something New

For some reason, the older we get, the less inclined we are to try and learn something new.

I’m not sure why it is, but I’ve noticed that in myself, my parents and many other people.

While staying in our comfort zone may feel good, going out and learning something new lets us become happier in the long run.

In addition to the possibility of attaining a promotion, getting a raise or just being more independent, research shows that this sense of accomplishment and achievement lead to increased happiness and well-being.

The study, performed by psychologists at San Francisco State University, found that participants who learned something felt happier and more satisfied when they looked back at the experience, even if during the time they were learning it caused them added stress.

In addition to the new skill you get, increased competency brings with it self-confidence and resilience.

Get Rid of Clutter

We’re all probably guilty of having clutter at some degree or another. It’s easy to leave stuff lying around.

But science tells us that doing so actually increases stress levels and leads to irritability.

2012 UCLA study found that many homes suffer from too many things, to the point that their garages and driveways were stuffed with extra belongings.

Also, cleaning up or putting the items in place led to elevated stress hormones for mothers.

According to Princeton University researchers, having a lot of clutter in the office or your desk not only makes you more irritable, but less able to focus. Cluttered workspaces, ultimately makes you less productive, not to mention dampens your mood.

Make Sure to Have Good Lighting

Just as color can affect how we feel, the presence or lack of light can likewise affect our moods.

Researchers at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands found that using certain types of lighting, it is possible to change and improve one’s mood.

The study was participated by elderly individuals who were subjected to 2 different types of movies, one that evoked anxiety, and another sadness.

Both movies successfully produced negative moods among the subjects, though with different levels of arousal. The anxious movie produced a high arousal negative mood state, whereas the sad movie a low arousal negative mood state.

After the movies, groups were divided into rooms with different types of lighting.

Results revealed that compared to a neutral lighting,

  • A cozy lit ambience (low arousing, pleasant) was better at reducing the effects of the anxious movie.
  • A high arousing, pleasantly lit ambience meanwhile, was likewise better than a neutrally lit environment in enhancing the psychological arousal from the sad movie.
different colors

††††††††Choose Cheerful Colors for Your Rooms

Colors have a profound effect on our emotions.

The right color surroundings can help lift your mood or put a smile into your face. The wrong ones on the other hand, can quickly make you sad.

In a color experiment performed by French researchers, backgrounds of green and pink colors each promoted happy faces and positive emotions among the trial’s participants.

Conversely, a gray colored background evoked sad facial expressions.

The effects also work the other way around as one’s mood also affects which colors you select.

According to a research piece published in the journal BMC Medical Research Methodology, happy people are more likely to go with positive colors when describing their mood. Meanwhile, unhappy individuals go for the gloomier shades.

The study recruited 105 healthy individuals, 110 anxious people and 108 depressed adults to see which colors they chose to represent their moods.

When the results were tallied, the data found that 20% of the healthy individuals selected a particular shade of bright yellow, whereas 30% and 50% of the anxiety and depression groups, respectively, selected some shade of gray.

To see which colors enhance what emotions, check out this guide.

Surround yourself with Flowers

Flowers liven up any room.

They’re bright, colorful and quickly lighten up your mood. Research performed by a Rutgers University psychology team found that:

  • Upon receiving flowers, participants expressed excited and genuine smiles, with feelings of gratitude and delight.
  • The effects were also long lasting as their positive mood allowed them to reduce feelings of anxiety, depression and agitation.
  • Those who received flowers also showed better life satisfaction.
  • The presence of flowers likewise improved social interaction and promoted closer connections with friends and family members.

This confirms the positive emotional effects of having flowers around one’s surroundings observed by an earlier study by Dr. Nancy Etcoff from Massachusetts General Hospital. Titled “Home Ecology of Flowers Study”, the team learned that:

  • Flowers around the home made people kinder and more compassionate.
  • Adding flowers in the room you spent your mornings also helped ward away the blues.
  • There was more happiness and enthusiasm exhibited in surroundings where flowers were present.

Their effects also extend to the workplace.

Adding indoor plants has been shown to improve productivity as well as lift employee mood levels.

Research printed in the journal Environment Behavior notes that the number of plants in the workplace increased its perceived attractiveness, the workers’ level of comfort, mood and productivity levels.

Make Your Bed Right After You Get Up

Strange but true. Those who make their beds after they get up in the morning are happier.

Surveying 68,000 individuals on whether they made their beds or not, Hunch.com discovered that majority of people (59%) did not while only 27% did. The rest had someone else do it.

Where it becomes interesting is that:

  • 71% of those who make their own beds were happy, while
  • 62% of those who didn’t make their beds considered themselves unhappy.

The benefits didn’t end there.

  • Bed-makers were also more likely to own a home, worked out regularly, liked their jobs and felt well rested.
  • Non bed-makers meanwhile, rented an apartment, hated their jobs, didn’t go to the gym and woke up tired.

The conclusion was bed makers were happier and more successful than their non-bed-making counterparts.

minfulness

Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness, which is the practice of focusing on the present moment without placing any judgement, has been proven to help relieve stress and enhance our awareness of ourselves and our surroundings.

Additionally, being mindful also helps make you a happier person.

The practice of mindfulness helps regulate our emotions and lets us focus our attention in the current moment. This takes away thoughts that involve negative self-evaluation that can trigger our emotions and moods.

In contrast, letting your mind wander produces the opposite effect.

Wandering minds have been associated with unhappiness.

2010 study presented by Harvard researchers reveals that on average, 47% of the time we’re awake, our minds are thinking of something else other than what we’re doing at that very moment. The only exception was during sex.

Their findings also reported that those who weren’t paying attention to what they were doing,  be it daydreaming or letting their minds wander, were also less happy.

Take Time Out to Pamper Yourself

When working or doing something stressful, take some time out every so often to pamper yourself.

This can be anything you like, including watching a short video, playing video games, or relaxing on your favorite chair.

study by the U.K.’s University of Warwick found that employees who took 10 minutes to relax and eat snacks or watch a funny video were happier than those who continued working during that time. The group that took a break also exhibited improved mood which resulted in better productivity.

be grateful

Practice Gratitude

Being grateful has been scientifically shown to promote happiness and well-being.

A study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology states that counting our blessings compared to thinking about our burdens, results in more positive feelings and improved sense of well-being.

Using 3 experiments where participants adopted attitudes of gratitude or one where they focused on life’s hassles, researchers observed that those who consciously focused on their blessing benefited emotionally.

In addition, other research show that gratitude also offers the extra benefits. It protects us from negative thoughts, depression, stress and anxiety.

One’s attitude not only affects how people perceive and react to you in terms of social support, it also changes our minds’ perception of how others treat us. As a result, we experience lower levels of stress, anxiety and depression.

The good news about being grateful is that its effects aren’t just temporary. They’re there for the long term.

4 week experiment involving 67 participants noticed that incorporating gratitude and visualizing our best possible selves (BPS) allowed the subjects not only to increase their positive mood states but also maintain these positive levels.

So how do you start being more grateful?

Try a gratitude journal. Write something you’re grateful for each day.

It takes around 21 days to form a new habit. So if you start now, by this time next month you’ll be on your way.

Preggers Amber Rose Promotes Flat Tummy’s Pregnancy Tea

Model and actress Amber Rose is getting some heat this week for placing an ad on her Instagram page promoting organic “pregnancy tea” by the same company that hires social media influencers and celebrities to promote its “flat tummy tea.”

“Food baby or real baby @flattummyco knows bloat’s a total B—H,” Rose, real name, Amber Levonchuck, captioned a photo of herself holding an open package of the product. “They’ve just launched an Organic Pregnancy Tea to help us moms with those bloated, nauseous, blah feeling days! It’s safe to take while pregnant and breastfeeding.”

Several of those commenting lambasted the personality for what they say is promotion of a product that some say contain controversial ingredients and stimulants that may not necessarily be safe for all women.

And we could imagine there is higher sensitivity for pregnant women who are carrying a child.

” Another shameless ad for “magic tea” perpetuating the need to have a flat tummy… Now aimed at pregnant women! Ily.” one commenter replied. “You’re supposed to be a feminist. You have enough money. Seriously just stop. “

One user retorted, ” That bloating is called a baby… “

Rose has not responded to the comments.

3 Real Housewives of Potomac Share Miscarriage Loss Stories

“I really don’t think I fully dealt with my miscarriage until until I found out I was pregnant again,” an emotional Monique Samuels shares during a testimonial to last Sunday’s new episode of Bravo TV‘s Real Housewives of Potomac. “The fear and the loss just came back to me so I really had to just sit back and leave it in God’s hands”

These comments were made during her testimonial in between scenes of a party she threw last year before the birth of her third child last year, celebrating her Rainbow Baby.

A Rainbow baby is a sustainable pregnancy or live birth following the loss of a previous pregnancy or baby.

FYI: A “Unicorn baby” is one that is birthed after infertility.

About her decision to host a celebration, the wife to ex veteran NFL legend Chris Samuels: “I thought this was a good way to celebrate new life to not forget it but to learn from it and move on,” she added.

During the episode, Monique referred to her miscarried child as “her angel baby” and later released several doves in the air in honor of all the other Angel babies out there.

“I know a lot of us women share the same story and a some of us don’t choose to express and share with others but I encourage us to because there’s healing in sharing, ” she added before opening up the mic later for other women in the audience to share their stories.

During the event, her cast mate Ashley Darby, who is currently pregnant accepted the opportunity to speak about having a miscarriage at age 19 and a more recent one with her restaurateur and businessman husband, Michael Darby.

Michael broke down in tears and actually left his wife’s side at a guest table temporarily.

Another castmember of the show, Katie Rost, also is familiar with tragic pregnancy loss.

Rost, a Housewife from Season 1 and currently a “friend of the Housewives” Season 4, suffered a late term miscarriage around 4-5 months of pregnancy.

She was pregnant with her fourth child with her boyfriend, a man named Jacob earlier this year when she miscarried.

According to an Instagram social media post by Rost, Jacob infamously snapped a highly disturbing and graphic bathroom photo of Rost laying on the floor shortly after the loss happened.

She the photo on her Instagram page before taking it down, but not before the gossip press got their hands on it and made it a story.

While in a vulnerable state, snapping a pic is not kind but I do not want to judge her decision to then post such a private and sacred moment on social media but yeah, that’s a heavy situation.

Photo of Rost’s kids and another young girl from Rost’s GoFundMe page

Rost is currently involved in a bitter custody dispute with her ex husband James Orsini over visitation rights with her children, son, James Rocco Orsini and twin daughters Renee Rost Orsini and Kathryn Rost Orsini who she lost full custody to. She has previously accused James of being mentally, physically and financially abusive to her.

Editor’s Note:

I could relate to Samuels’ later comment on the show about living in fear after getting pregnant again.

After I lost my first ever pregnancy about 17 years ago, my husband and I were extremely anxious and scared our second would end the same, with another loss.

We even went as far as purchased a portable ultrasound so we could constantly monitor the baby’s heartbeat anytime we wanted without having to go to the doctor’s for an appointment.

Now baby Samuels, Chase Omari, is here and Baby Darby is on the way and with a gig as a Friend of, hopefully Rost is in a better place and getting more support.

How Regina King’s Decision To Put Her Son First Skyrocketed Her Career

One of my all time fave actress, directors and producers Regina King changed the entire trajectory of her storied and award-winning acting career by choosing to put her child first.

It started after the former child star (who played “Brenda” on the 1980s NBC hit 227) had her son Ian in 1996 with her then husband Ian Alexander Sr.

“I took a break from making films,” she explained to W magazine in its 2019 Hollywood issue released in January around award season. “My son, Ian, was getting to the age, around sixth grade, when kids are starting to spread their wings, and everything that was being offered to me was outside of Los Angeles, except for TV. I didn’t want to travel to make films.”

Because of that move, the If Beale Street Could Talk Oscar nominee focused her career on the small screen.

“I like to say I was one of the first movie actors who made the leap into television,” she said to the interviewer who asked if her silver screen role in Beale, the first feature film after a 10 year break was a comeback film

“I like to use the LL Cool J song: ‘Don’t call it comeback. I been here for years.’

In a 2018 interview with SheKnows.com, the back-to-back Emmy Winner for the American Crime anthology series said, “I did not want to homeschool my son. I didn’t want to have to leave him at home and miss out on all those little milestones and triumphs that happen in a growing child’s life.”

Love it! And loved her while starring as a police officer in the NBC-turned- TBS cop drama Southland in a role written just for her in 2009.

From there, as E! Online summarized earlier this year, the “career renaissance began, with roles in American Crime, The Leftovers, and Seven Seconds coming one after the other. ”

Then, the Boyz In the Hood alum started to clean up at the awards shows.

Her first Emmy win, for work in the first season of ABC‘s anthology series American Crime, came in 2015, with another following suit a year later. At the same time, she began developing a serious passion for directing. Since helming a 2013 episode of Southland, she’s gone on to direct episodes of Scandal, This Is Us, Shameless, The Good Doctor, and Insecure

In May, it was anounced that King has just inked a first-look deal with Netflix to produce films and television series.

Keeping it all in the family, her sister, Reina, will be head of production, Huffpo reported.

King is proof positive that putting family first is not always a hazard to progress on a career!
