I’m dedicating this one day late “Bump Day” to the retro pregnant woman of the 1970s….(not including Ashlee Simpson Wentz pictured above who was rocking a pretty cute 70s, maybe 60s hippie chick look when she was pregnant a couple of years ago).
But here is a rare photo (below) of a pregnant Diana Ross who in 1975 was set to deliver her second child Tracee Joy Silberstein, born October 29, 1972 (now known as Tracee Ellis Ross).
Back then she was married to her 1st of three husbands, music business manager Robert Ellis Silberstein. She is pictured here with her first daughter Rhonda Suzanne Silberstein (nowRhonda Ross Kendrick) who’s dad is Berry Gordy even though Ross was married to Silberstein in January 1971 and delivered Rhonda in August 1971. I wonder if it were one of those “Uh oh, that’s not a biracial baby moment” when she was born. Who knows. I got this from Wikepedia and haven’t read any of Ross’ autobiographies or biographies to know the real deal. If anyone cares to fill me in, send me an email and I will promptly correct it. Phew! And I must say in doing some research for this post, there are very very rare images of pregnant celebrities before the late 1990s, further proving that this bump watch thing is a phenomenon of this century for the most part.
I’m exhausted after typing all of that…time for a nap!
