Jay -Z is in GQ magazine gushing and beaming about his soon-to-be-born baby daughter. When asked if he plans to do diaper duty, he replied, “Of course, of course. One hundred percent.”
He admitted that it was Beyonce‘s idea to share the big pregnancy news at the MTV Music Video Awards this year.
“You want to be in control of your life.” he said. He also opened about not having a dad growing up in his life and wanting to be there for his daughter.
“Providing—that’s not love,” he told GQ. “Being there—that’s more important. I mean, we see that. We see that with all these rich socialites. They’re crying out for attention; they’re hurting for love. I’m not being judgmental—I’m just making an observation. They’re crying out for the love that maybe they didn’t get at home, and they got everything. All the material things that they need and want. So we know that’s not the key.”
Jay-Z grew up in the Marcy Projects in the tough Bed-Stuy section of Brooklyn and his dad, Adnis Reeves, left the family after Jay-Z’s brother was killed. Reeves began abusing alcohol and was estranged from his dad until 2003. He later died from alcohol abuse, according to Jay-Z.
