Thanksgiving is upon us and a lot of families will be heading out across the country to spend the holidays with loved ones. With that in mind we want to share some of our favorite travel tips with you in order to ease the burden of traveling with little ones.
Check out our complete list below. If you see something that you like or have any additional tips let us know in the comments. We just might include it on our next list.
Air Travel:On most airlines children under the age of 2 can sit on your lap but check with your airline to verify. For longer trips consider purchasing an additional seat even for smaller children and bringing along their car seat to strap them in. You both will enjoy the flight more.
Bring games or activities to keep the kids occupied while in-flight. We love coloring books.
Select a small bag that your child is able to carry alone and let them pick toys to go into it. They’ll feel empowered and you’ll minimize what they can bring all in one.
Bring bubble gum to help keep their ears from popping. For small kids who’ve never flown at high altitudes this can be scary and perhaps painful so it’s better to be prepared.
Car Travel:For long drives consider leaving out in the early AM hours. We usually put the kids into their car seats while they are asleep with their PJs still on. This gives us a few hours of driving time without having to hear, “are we there yet” questions every 5 minutes.
