What do we think about an anatomically correct pregnant teenage mother doll?
The website Amamanta Family sells hand made dolls that can be used in instructional settings for teaching developmentally delayed children and young adults and children about anatomy, and can be used in sex abuse trials, in social services cases or in training children how to recognize good touch and bad touch. The site sells Caucasian, Mexican, Hindu, Guatemalans, generic Asian dolls and families too.
The Adolescent Mother doll comes with a doll baby that comes out of the pregnant doll’s womb to illustrate birth, a shoulder bag with a cloth diaper, a newborn blanket and a sling for the doll to carry her baby in. It sells for $159.00.
The site says parents can use the teenager dolls to help “ease the separation anxiety and manage child expectations when a teenager leaves home for college.”
But I’m still trying to figure out who or what the teenage mom dolls is supposed to be training or teaching.
