Of course the comments to TMZ‘s recent insults-filled posting revealing photos (above) of a 4 months post-partum Bryce Dallas Howard were mean and full of “fat” jokes.
Not just because the online rag egged them on, but also because our weight- obsessed society cannot stand to see a woman, and certainly not a hot actress, take time to care for her baby and not be all fanatical about losing her baby weight lightening fast. Those celebs that do and make magazine covers create an unrealistic standard for other actress and everyday women in general who think something is wrong with them if their baby weight doesn’t peel off as quickly as they expected.
Thanks Bryce for setting an example, albeit unwillingly, that it’s okay to nurture your kid for a bit before hitting the gym and cutting back on the calories. It’s not easy for most women to get back into shape and for some, it is best they care for their mental state first. Howard reported suffering from postpartum depression for a year and a half following the birth of her first child. Hopefully, she is staying away from the media while she spends these crucial first months with her baby.
