Celebs Accused of Faking Their Pregnancy: Kenya Moore, Kim K, Beyonce, Danielle Jonas

Real Housewives of Atlanta alum, Kenya Moore Daly continues to be dogged with and by rumors that she is faking her pregnancy and it seems no matter how many bare bump photos or pics of her cast mates cradling her belly she posts, there are always people in her comments expressing disbelief that the 47-year old former Miss USA is really expecting her first child.

Even recently, when she posted a cute Instagram photo of her hubby restauranteur Marc Daly feeling her baby kicks, she still had haters decrying the authenticity of the moment. Ugh!

She was all smiles in the photo captioned, “#marcdaly wasn’t ready for #babydaly’s kicks today ?❤️#babybump#babykicks #ThatsMrsDalyToYou.”

It is amazing to me. She is not the only one. Beyonce and Danielle Jonas both were trolled all Pregnancy and beyond when they each had their first kid.

Kim Kardashian was too and was  BravoTV‘s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills former cast member  Adrienne Maloof but way after the fact.

One season of the hit series focused on a rumor that Maloof had used a surrogate to birth her children so as not to “ruin” her body, but lied about actually being pregnant and going through labor and delivery to save face and not come off as being a superficial and vain person.

Meanwhile, who aren’t accused of faking their pregnancy?

Celeb women who barely look pregnant even at 5-months along like Remy Ma or who undergo an entire 40 weeks pregnant undetected and just crop up with a set of twins like Anna Kournikiva did!

It is quite interesting to me who gets the suspect treatment and who escapes it.

Bump Watch: Danielle Jonas, Evelyn Lozada Instagram Belly progression pics

Instagram

Danielle Jonas, star of Married to Jonas and Evelyn Lozada of VH1‘s Basketball Wives both shared an updated belly progression photo with their fans and followers on their respective Instagram  accounts.

Danielle and husband Kevin Jonas of E!’s The Jonas Brothers are expecting a daughter pretty soon. This will be the couple’s first child. They announced the news by showing a photo of the baby’s ultrasound last summer.

Equally, Lozada, who just got engaged to LA Dodgers player Carl Crawford this past December, is also waiting for her baby, her second. She has a 20-year old daughter Shaniece from a previous relationship. She is about 7 months along.

Looking good, ladies!

.

Congratulations to reality TV star Danielle Jonas and her husband musician and “The Jonas Brothers”  boy band alum Kevin Jonas on the birth of their second together, daughter, Valentina Angela.

Proud uncle, Nick Jonas, announced the news on his Instagram yesterday.

“AHH! I’m an uncle again! Congrats to my brother and sister in law on the birth of their new beautiful baby girl,” he captioned the share of a Snapchat still.

The other brother, Joe Jonas also chimed in with his congratulations on Twitter.  Fans had a  head’s up that baby was on the way because Danielle posted a photo of herself in the hospital this week while on countdown to baby! How precious!

Anytime now ??

The couple announced the news of expecting addition earlier this month via an Instagram photo of the couple in bed with Kevin reading a book about pregnancy and Danielle snacking on an assortment of chips and cookies with the caption,  “Preparing for baby number two!”

Danielle and Kevin Jonas welcome daughter amidst Fake pregnancy rumors

Congratulations to Danielle Jonas and hubby Kevin Jonas of the Jonas Brothers on the birth of their daughter on Superbowl Sunday, February 2.
This is the first child for the former hairdresser turned reality TV star and eldest Jonas brother. The couple married in 2009 and announced last summer that they were expecting their first kid together.
Like Beyonce, the couple have been plagued with fake pregnancy and fake baby rumors as seen in this IB Times article and a  Crushable post which claims to break down how fake the baby is.
The Crushable article has managed to get a lot of people on board with the conspiracy theory but there are many clues in the article revealing that the author has never had a baby before. She questions a doctor visit with the baby’s heartbeat shared in Instagram because there is no video image of the baby, but dopplers take the baby’s heartbeat and have nothing to do with a video or video monitor. The monitor just happened to be sitting there. Thee photos she posted in IG where her tummy was flat were possibly old photos before the pregnancy. There are so many holes in the piece to go into that it’s not worth it.
But what I did appreciate was the Instagram video Kevin shared with the baby moving inside Danielle’s tummy. That was THE best feeling during pregnancy inside and out. So cool of Kevin to catch that on video.
The conspiracy theorists are wack! But um getting a baby detergent brand to sponsor your first photo release, hmmmm. Can’t knock the hustle.
Congrats guys!

Decade in Review: 10 Celeb Parenting Trends That Are Now Outdated

Having covered celebrity pregnancy, parenting and the “bump watch” for over a decade, I pride myself in being an institutional memory of the trends in this space.

As we close out on another decade, I’ve identified 10 trends that have come and gone from the past decade, including old ones that have faded out of style over time and new ones spearheaded by the recent popularity and usage of social media.

Let’s start with the trends that are

Outdated and going bye bye:

10. Million Dollar Deals for First Baby Photos

In 2007, Julia Roberts reportedly was the first celebrity to demand a six figure payday ($250,000) from PEOPLE magazine to get the rights to publish the first photos of her twins Phinnaeus and Hazel. OK magazine got a steal and paid merely a little over a half a million for pics of Gwen Stefanie’s 2 week old son, Kingston. OK Magazine lost their $2 million dollar bid for Britney Spear and Kevin Federline’s first baby pic to People magazine. Nicole Richie reportedly received $1M for her photo of son, Max and Christina Aguilera for her son.

With magazines, along with newspapers, losing tons of revenue as people start to rely on digital forms of media for news and information, it no longer made business sense to pay these astronomical amounts of money.

Also, with the advent of social media and more conscious celeb couples publishing their babies on Instagram for free, the less famous personalities who used to shop for first photo deals found there was no longer a market for them.

9. Pregnant Nude Covers

After Demi Moore posed on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine in 1991, it became a thing for stars to do the same.  Since then, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Nia Long and many more graced covers in the buff while expecting.

Soon, it became more of a quick and easy way to get publicity and attention, and eventually the public interest in them waned.

The last big photo issue was of Alanis Morissette in 2016. She did an undercover water shoot but the naked baby bump photo thing is more or less passe and not a public rosy stunt many will do.

8. The Celebrity Bounce Back

Around the same time that gossip magazines started to cover celebrity parents, we saw a lot of photos about the “bounce back”. It was as if it was a competition to see who could pop up slim and trim months or even weeks after baby.

It was ridiculous for several reasons: 1) a lot of the covers were photoshopped; 2) some of the celebs either genetically were predisposed to lose weight fast or underwent surgical procedures to quickly trim down after baby; 3) it set up a dangerous standard given that a lot of celebs have private chefs and trainers to help them lose weight fast; and 4) it sent a damaging message to women who should be concerned with safely healing from delivery and focusing on nursing and connecting with their newborns.

In any event, those magazine covers are not as common as before. In fact, a bunch of celebrity women like Chrissy Teigen, Blake Livey, Mila Kunis and others have spoken out about the ridiculous expectations on them to return to their pre-pregnancy form after baby.

The industry has gotten the message and do not sensationalize the bounce back as much as before.

7. Sponsored Baby Showers

Once upon a time, celebrities were approached by companies and brand representatives to host a baby shower for them in exchange for promotion of their products. The companies knew there were tons of promotions that came with the exposure.

Amazon.com sponsored Khloe Kardashian’s baby shower in 2018. Although the trend is dying out, over the past decade, Danielle Jonas and her husband Kevin celebrated a baby shower thrown by Fit Pregnancy magazine.

Also, Burt’s Bees was among the sponsors of Kourtney Kardashian’baby shower when she was pregnant with daughter Penelope. Similarly, Le Bebe CoCo  was among Kristin Cavallari‘s baby shower sponsors. Target hosted Beverley Mitchell’s baby shower. Several liquor companies provided the libations for cocktails served up at Love and Hip Hop’s  Yandy Smith‘s baby shower.

Jaime King enjoyed some fab brand goodies at her shower.  Ecoya‘s Sweet Pea & Jasmine home fragrance collection, a pink Quinny Buzz Special Edition stroller, a mamaRoo baby swing, a pink Hoppop Bath tub, a pink Little Giraffe Luxe Blanket, a Timi and Leslie diaper bag and a 5 ft. custom-made giraffe by Melissa and Doug all contributed to Victoria Beckham‘s baby shower.

Finally, Belly Bandit sponsored Jewel’s baby shower.

While this trend continues, audiences do not respond as favorable to them any longer and the comment section on sponsored baby showers are sometimes filled with negative commentary from fans who want less rich new parents to be showered with the gifts.

SOCIAL MEDIA DRIVEN

6. Hiding Children’s Face in Social Media

We famously were contacted by Stella McCartney’s reps over 10 years ago to remove paparazzi photos of her traveling with her children in the street posted on the blog. A few years later, Kristen Bell and husband Dax Shepard launched a campaign in 2014 to get a California state law passed to protect children of celebs from paparazzi. Others have done the same.

Eva Mendes and Kerry Washington do not show their kids in public or social media at all.

In the social media era, a few refuse to feature their children in social media or they hide their faces when they do: Zoe Saldana, Beyonce, brit star Rochelle Humes, Kylie Jenner  and Jenna Dewan all have done that in the past or continue to.

5. Celebrity Kids Instagram Accounts

On the flip side, several less famous stars realize the tremendous money making and marketing opportunities in giving their children their own account and branding their name and fame from birth.

It’s a pretty recent phenomenon, but starting with , DJ Khaled who launched an Instagram account  for his son Asadh in 2016 when Baby Khaled was just one month old, many celebs have created accounts for their kids as well.

Little  Asadh now has 1.8M followers, Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade‘s 1 year old daughter Kaavia James boasts 1M followers and Michael Phelps’ 3-year old son Boomer Phelps  now has 665K followers of his Instagram page.

I think the youngest baby to get an Insta was Cali Clay Shephard, daughter of model Chanel Iman and Sterling Shepard whose account was opened at just 16 days old.

This is a trend that is not getting old but is growing as more realize the revenue generating options that open up with having a massive engaged following.

4.  Hiding Pregnancy to Late Trimester

From my memory in covering this topic, I think that Kylie Jenner, Anna Kournokova and a few others did the best job at hiding their pregnancies for all 9 months. It’s pretty hard to hide from the paparazzi and shield their bump during events, filming and promoting a project.

But in 2011, Evangeline Lilly managed to almost completely disguise her entire pregnancy until papps found her in Hawaii while almost done gestating her first child. Jennifer Lopez and Adele managed to hide their respective pregnancies for over 5 months.

Given how common miscarriage is, a lot of women, whether a celebrity or not, wait until the latest time possible when they feel comfortable that they will be able to carry their baby to term to announce baby news.

Hiding an early pregnancy while building a career in front of the public is not easy to do as Cardi B learned but it can be done and the more private or celebs are learning from others how to do it.

3. Launch New Career/Re invigorate Career

Also during the height of the interest in celeb baby bumps, a lot of stars who were formerly very popular but whose fame had waned were able to reinvigorate their respective careers after having a baby.

For example, Kim Karadashian West once lamented that she saw a spike in paparazzi photos whenever she is expecting.

About 10 years ago, Mommyish published a gallery of celebrities who became more famous after becoming pregnant or becoming a mom.

It is not clear is the general public is as enamored with celebrity pregnancy as it once was before so a baby may not be the career boost as it was in the past.

2. Launch a Maternity or Parenting Related Brand

Tia and Tamera Mowry famously launched a breastfeeding brand called Milky after becoming parents for the first time.  Others like Jessica Simpson, Heidi Klum and Jessica Simpson, Heidi Klum launched maternity lines or added children clothing to their existing lines as with Stella McCartney and The Kardashians after they became a mom, respectively.

Instagram famous women shift their feeds and started featuring their babies and promoting parenting and motherhood related brands as part of their new post baby rebranding.

So at least in social media, a new baby can create opportunities.

1. Being Open and Honest about Miscarriage

Micarriage is a taboo among many families. It is unspoken and women who go through it suffer in silence or keep it a secret. It occurs more often than many would believe, yet women usually keep it a secret from family and friends. It certainly taints and colors one’s journey to motherhood, whether it happened in the early weeks or mid term. A woman will earnestly never be the same after suffering through one, especially she and her partner were planning for the baby they lost.

In recent years, a lot of celebrities have been open and transparent about having gone through a miscarriage.

And a lot more are being open and transparent about losses they’ve had in the past.

From many of the stars of BravoTV‘s Real Housewives of Atlanta to Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mithcell to Michelle Obama to Beyonce and Carrie Underwood and Gabrielle Union, openly sharing about a miscarriage or pregnancy loss is the thing to do.

Because of their influence, platform and reach, it’s awesome that these women are sharing their stories to help comfort and empathy for those who have endured it or may be unknowing about how common it is.

In the coming decade, let’s hope the trend of being relatable and real continue and we can leave behind those trends that created stress and anxiety among their followers behind.

‘Shah’s of Sunset’ MJ Javid Silences Her ‘Fake Pregnancy’ Trolls

Several celebs have been trolled by people on the internet who are convinced they are not really pregnant but faking it while a surrogate really carries their child. Beyonce, Danielle Jonas, Meghan Markle and Kenya Moore have had to dodge fake pregnancy rumors during and after delivery.

Bravo TV star of Shahs of Sunset Mercedes “MJ” Javid is the latest.

The 46-year old is pregnant with her first child, a son, after undergoing in vitro fertilization.

The real estate biz owner has been on bedrest for the most part of her later stages of pregnancy following a few complications but despite giving fans glimpses of her baby bump on her Instagram page, she is still routinely harassed by many to show a mirror selfie of it while standing up.

The maternity shoot which is featured exclusively in PEOPLE magazine today should do the trick to get them off her back, according to a recent post.

“Thank you @people for such beautiful coverage of our baby journey thus far,” she captioned a photo from the shoot which featured multiple images of her in lingerie, and with her belly bare and clearly visible. “As I continue to share my experience with families with whom I share this life goal, I hope my experience provides support, hope and positive thinking for others.”

She continued: “Today, I am grateful to my husband and family for the incredible support I’ve received in getting us this far. I know we have so much more ahead. I am blessed to work with incredible photographer, @shannonlaurine and my glam squad, @brandonliberati and @makeupbymarine all of which together we celebrate the female form during this incredible God given opportunity ? #bumpalert

She addressed the body shaming and fake pregnancy accusations in the magazine.

“A lot of people on social [media] have already come at me for faking my pregnancy,” she says, saying for example, “My face doesn’t look pregnant, my nose doesn’t look swollen, my bump isn’t big enough, I am using a surrogate, I am making this up for attention.”

But she’s staying strong.

“I don’t mind the shaming, I just think it’s very odd that so many people would think a woman would make a choice to lie about something so important,” she explained. “I think if I get mom shamed, I’m not going to care … if anyone wants to mom shame or bully someone in general, they should bully me because I won’t be affected.”

You’d think that would be the end of it. Nope!

The photo garnered a lot of attention but did not stop folks in the comment section a.k.a. the peanut gallery from criticizing the photo edits, and some still said it wasn’t her real belly.

So..she felt the need to follow up with a non-glam bump photo for the haters.

“And a no filter, no make up, no suntan, at home baby bump selfie, to shut down all the haters who have a problem with a woman getting out of bed after 3 and a half months of bed rest to get a little hair and make up for her maternity photos. ?” she captioned a selfie photo in sweats at home.

She previously addressed the hounding on an Instagram Live, ask me anything session with fans.

” My due date is on May 11 and people are saying ‘Why aren’t I showing, why I aren’t I showing?’ I think that it’s a combination of two things: the first thing is that people don’t always show when they’re only 19 weeks, which is where I’m at. Number two: I’m not stick thin,” she said. “I think that from the side I’m definitely thicker and that I’m getting there, but I don’t think that people always show that early.”

You cannot please people so it’s better off not trying. I don’t know how celebs do it being constantly judged and picked apart.

Wait until that baby comes. She can see how folks are tearing into new moms like Chrissy Teigen, Kenya Moore, Gabrielle Union and now Porsha Williams to get a taste at the levels of unsolicited advice and shaming in store.

Oy! Good luck, MJ!

Besides Khloe Kardashian, 10 Other Celebs Who Had Sponsored Baby Showers

khloe b aby shower

Some people are baffled by the fact that a corporate entity or brand, Amazon.com, sponsored Khloe Kardashian‘s lavish baby shower for her soon-to-be daughter with beau Tristan Thompson.

It is not uncommon for moms and dads-to-be to receive multiple baby showers. Often times, a family member or close friend will host one for close ties, the workplace will throw a work shower and if there is family in a remote location, there will be a shower thrown there so those back home can also celebrate and shower the new parents.

For celebrities, often times brands and media organizations will also host a shower as the case with Khloe’s.  The following celebs had brands sponsor their showers

1.Danielle Jonas and her husband Kevin celebrated a baby shower thrown by Fit Pregnancy magazine.

2. Burt’s Bees was among the sponsors of Kourtney Kardashian’baby showerwhen she was pregnant with daughter Penelope.

3. Le Bebe CoCo  was among Kristin Cavallari‘s baby shower sponsors

4. And  also Holly Madison‘s who donated her gifts to the charity Baby2Baby.

5. Target hosted Beverley Mitchell’s baby shower.

6. The Sopranos Jamie Lyn-Sigler donated some of her baby shower finds to the Baby Buggy charity.

7. Several liquor companies provided the libations for cocktails served up atLove and Hip Hop’s  Yandy Smith‘s baby shower.

8. Jaime King enjoyed some fab brand goodies at her shower.

10. Belly Bandit sponsored Jewel’s baby shower.

There you have it! One of the perks of being a celebrity and being hugely influential!

2017 Celebrity Pumpkin and Harvestival Sightings (PHOTOS)

It’s ripe pumpkin patch season and just like a lot of families, celebrity families too head out and enjoy late year festivities.

Recently, Lauren Conrad, Blac Chyna, Danielle Jonas and others found themselves at Harvest festivals.

They shared photos of their fall adventures on their respective social media feeds.

Out in Hollywood, Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch in Culver City, California is a favorite spot for celebrities.

Last year, Bellyitch spotted this year include alums Heidi Klum, Kendra Wilkinson, Tamera Mowry-Housley, Gwen Stefani , Kourtney and Kim Kardashian and Rachel Zoe at the patch with their kids. We also saw then first time mom-to-be The Walking Dead star Alanna Masterson, who plays “Tara Chambler” on the hit AMC show posing a patch; and late night talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel and his daughter Molly.

You can check out PEOPLE magazine’s  round up PR this year’s photos here

VH1 #LHH Atlanta Star latest Plagued by Fake Pregnancy Rumors

Vh1 reality Tv of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Joseline Hernandez is the latest celeb to be plagued by fake baby bump rumora.

The first-time mom-to-be posted pregnancy progression photos of herself on her Instagram account this weekend which revealed barely a bump.

A few commenters questioned the authencity.

Beyonce, Danielle Jonas Kim Kardashian-West and several other celebrity women have all been accused by fans and the gossip press of not truly carrying their respective child and of wearing a prosthetic bump.

Kardashian went as far as to pose nude to prove the haters wrong.

And Hernandez has posted a previous photo which revealed a very pregnant belly.

Before Janet Jackson was spotted recently, many thought she was using a surrogate given that she is 50-years old.

As we all know, women carry each pregnancy differently and some bumps are barely there and others are large from early in a pregnancy and get exponentially large.

Alas, it comes with the territory of being in the public eye in this era of the celeb “bump watch.”

Doesn’t mean it’s not annoying and off-putting to the women dogged but it is what it is.

Shake it off!
