And now celebrity professional skateboarder Bethany Hamilton has announced she is expecting her second child with hubby Adam Dirks (E! News)

After giving birth to four kids, my mom had zero stretch marks. Genetically, she is predisposed to not get them.
Lucky her! I was not as fortunate.
Another reason people get stretch marks is that they put on weight too quickly causing the the skin to fragment into markets.
Women with a healthy BMI might gain between 25 to 35 pounds over the course of a pregnancy, it’s hard for our skin to keep up.
Another reason people acquire stretch marks while pregnant is the hormones that are abundant during pregnancy contribute to them.
They are really hard to avoid if you are not genetically predisposed to not them. If you didn’t get them during your growth spurt during puberty, you may get them later.
Creams can help make the skin more supple to slow down their onset or lessen the darkness of them when they do arrive.
But none can help you avoid them.
One can slow the onset of stretch marks appealing by talking to the doctor or dietician about how to gain steady and moderate weight.
Once you develop them, laser therapy can help stretch marks to fade although it can’t remove them completely and typically several treatments are required. Most insurers don’t pay the cost and is usually very expensive.
The other alternative is just to embrace and accept them. Tiger stripes are par for course and the baby at the end!
Congratulations are in order to former “Bad Girl”, Tanisha Thomas of Oxygen channel’s The Bad Girls Club, who is expecting her first child with her partner.
In the caption to the Instagram post where she shared a gorgeous maternity shot, she mentions that the pregnancy didn’t occur without a lot of “patience and faith”, indicating perhaps that there were challenges on the road to baby.
She is the second reformed Bad Girl who has totally changed her life around, settled and calmed down and is more grounded. Bad Girl Natalie Nunn and her husband welcomed their first child earlier this year.
I had not been keeping up with the show and last saw Thomas, who starred in Season two, while hosting a reunion special for the show’s 10 season or something like that and I did not realize that she had dropped a tremendous about of pounds.
When I saw a post in Hello Beautiful sharing the news of her impending arrival, I had to do a double take. Thomas has since divorced her husband Clive Muir who starred in seven one-hour episodes with her in her high rated series Tanisha Gets Married and WE TV‘s Marriage Bootcamp in 2014.
Since appearing on Bad Girls Club, Thomas has hosted Love Games: Bad Girls Need Love Too for three seasons.
Thomas also appeared on Lifetime’s makeover show, Girlfriend Intervention, using her own transformed life to help other women who had fallen on hard times. She also hosted an online Oxygen network show called Crazy Talk and worked on the clothing line, “Plush-Sized Diva’s Closet”.

Last Friday, the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta posted a photo of David Deutchman holding a sleeping newborn on its Facebook page and within hours, the post went viral and was shown close to 179,000 times
“On Tuesdays, he visits the PICU to hold babies whose parents can’t be with them that day,” the hospital captioned the photo.” On Thursdays, he makes rounds in the NICU.

With all the recent scrutiny on the bellies of some celebs yet to confirm a rumored pregnancy, it’s a good time to discuss when women start to show.
A breakdown in Romper did an excellent job of summarizing some of the main factors:
Body type also comes in to play here as taller women show later, as do even shorter women with long torsos, and those with deeper pelvises. And of course, women carrying more than one baby will most likely develop a baby bump earlier.
To elaborate on why body type matters, Buxon explains that more vertical space allows the baby to stretch out, which means a less prominent bump. She goes on to mention, “If you are carrying weight more in your abdomen, that also contributes to a different size and shape to your bump.” So while shorter women like me will look visibly pregnant 10 sneezes after conception, my tall friends (or those with naturally heavier body structures) can keep the secret much longer.
But it’s not just your physical build that can affect when strangers will want to start rubbing your belly. Factors such as BMI, metabolism, and even gas can can make your bump look bigger for awhile, and you may notice a bit of fluctuation from day to day.

Ever since Serena Williams and her fiance Alexis Ohanian created an Instagram page for their newborn daughter Alexis Ohanian, Jr, we’ve been waiting for it to get verified status!
We checked and now the sweet gorgeous baby girl, whose initials are AO, same as the initials of the Tennis Grand Slam championship her mom won while pregnant with her, Austrialian Open, has been verified.
With this status, the baby girl follows behind singer and dancer Teyana Taylor and NBA’s Cleveland Cavalier player Imani Shumpert ‘s daughter Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr who not only has had a verified account since a baby but is also a female junior, named after her dad — just like Alexis! (Great trend!)
Other celebrity babies with verified Instagram pages include reality TV star, singer and businesswoman Kandi Burruss‘s son Ace Wells Tucker; record-breaking winning Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps; son Boomer Phelps and, Chanel, daughter to reality TV star Cocoa Austin and her husband Ice T.
Alexis Jr already has close to 70,000 followers already and is right behind Ace Tucker who had over 100,000 when he was just 8 weeks old.

Without much fanfare, The Disney Channel broadcast an episode of its popular show Doc McStuffins featuring an interracial lesbian couple last month. The episode titled Doc McStuffins titled “The Emergency Plan” was voiced by real life lesbian actresses Portia di Rossi and actress/comedian Wanda Sykes.
I love celeb mamas who keep it real, including A Bad Moms Christmas star Mila Kunis who recently opened up to ET about a variety of topics from family, the holiday traditions, to shedding baby weight and I’m here for it all!

But among my fave parts include when she responded to the question about how she lost her baby weight after the birth of her now 10-month old son Dimitri. (She and husband actor/investor Ashton Kutcher are also parents to 3-year old daughter Wyatt). She didn’t mince words.
“Lots of gym-ing. I hate someone who’s like, ‘This is all natural.’ Bullsh**. It’s not natural.” Ha! Love it! That’s right!
Also, it was like re-living watching moments from scenes of her role in the original Bad Moms when she got stressed out about raising her fictional children to be good people when she said this:
“Yeah, we’re not gonna raise a**holes. There’s enough a**holes in this world! We don’t need to contribute. But, you know, there’s some nice people.”

I too come from a inter-religious family that celebrates many holidays and my husband grew up in a country, Trinidad, that celebrates Hindu, Christian, Muslim and several other religious as public holidays, so I could dig her answer on how her family celebrates the holidays:
“I come from communist Russia, where you’re not allowed to be happy, so my holiday traditions are ‘be quiet.’ Coming to America is when you realize Christmas has a magical quality to it. In Russia, back in the day, it was a very religious holiday, so you don’t celebrate Christmas if you’re not Christian and if you’re not at Mass. So, I being Jewish, was like, ‘Christmas is not for you.’ We come to America and we’re like, ‘Christmas is so inclusive.’ We literally bought a Christmas tree. So as far as tradition goes, my family’s big on any excuse to get the family together and get drunk. Whether it’s Easter, which we’ve now all accepted into our Jewish household, or Christmas, it doesn’t matter. It’s all family time, but having kids, we’re building up our own little versions of tradition.”
