Internet Sleuths Figured Out Drake and Sophie Brussaux Celebrated Son’s 2nd Birthday Together

Internet sleuthing fans and the media figured out that rapper Drake and his ex Sophie Brussaux celebrated their son Adonis’ 2nd birthday together at Drizzy‘s Toronto mansion.

He posted a photo from the celebration event on his Instagram page which showed off large mylar balloons spelling out his son’s name with a tiny art rendering of Sesame Street character Elmo in the corner.

“Happy Birthday King ?”, he captioned the photo.

Around that same time, Brussaux posted the same photo and an outside portrait of herself standing in front of a floral Sesame Street charter Cookie Monster display in front of the outside of the mansion.

This Hot Fall Color Was Predicted the ‘It’ Shade 2 Years Ago

neo mint

Did you know that there are companies that use a combination of social science, deep insight and instinct to predict trends up to 24 months before they enter the retail space?

That’s right and one such organization, WSGN, two years ago predicted that the color Neo-Mint will be hot in 2020! As predicted, the shade was seen a lot on the runways of many designer’s Spring 20 collections!

It has gender neutral appeal and can be worn by virtually anyone. If you’re a fan of color, go bold by wearing a flare skirt or quirky socks with the color embedded in it. Or play it safe with accent colors or wearing neo-mint accessories like a purse, scarf or jewelry.

Here are some ideas to incorporate mint in your wardrobe this season and next:

A Look Back at Anne Hathaway’s Stunning Red Carpet Maternity Style

anne hathaway fashion red carpet

Anne Hathaway has had some super glamorous and stunning pieces while promoting her new Amazon original series Modern Love!

Last week, she stunned in a gorgeous cream Oscar de la Renta asymmetrical peplum -type top over a matching skirt while promoting the project in New York City on Thursday.

Earlier in her pregnancy, the Ocean’s 8 star stunned in a hot pink dress with a bump-revealing side cut outs while attending the FIJI Water At Sea Wall / A Life Opening Night On Broadway event on August 08, 2019 in New York City.

And last month, we were crushing the gorgeous Valentino Maxi dress the Devil Wears Prada star wore to the Amazon Prime Video’s Television Critics Association press event in Beverley Hills, California.

The floor-length dress from the design house’s 2019 Resort Collection was decorated with what looked like Venetian artwork on the front and featured yellow pleats and billowy sleeves.

The New York native, who shares a 3-year old son named Jonathan with husband Adam Shulman.

She announced her pregnancy on Instagram with a July mirror selfie.

“It’s not for a movie,” she captioned the black-and-white pic at the time. “#2. ⁣All kidding aside, for everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love.”

She previously opened up to  to Entertainment Tonight  about her infertility struggles that week:

“There is a one-sided narrative to this and, of course, it’s wonderful that we celebrate the happy moment when it’s ready to share. I think there is a silence around the moments before that and they are not all happy and, in fact, a lot of them are quite painful. I think that pain is that these women feel like we’re the only ones going through it.”

She added, “I just knew that somewhere my announcement was going to make somebody feel worse about themselves because — and it wouldn’t be their fault that that happened — you just can’t help it when you want something so bad and it feels like it’s happening to everyone else but you. And I just wanted that person to know that they’re included in my story too and that my story didn’t just have happy moments too.”

STUDY: Middle Child Boys Are More Delinquent Than First Borns

A relatively new study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology looked into the impact of birth order on delinquency and found that second-born boys “are substantially more likely to exhibit delinquency problems compared to their older sibling.”

The conclusions were extrapolated from examining data sets from the US state of Florida and from Denmark.

Most striking, it discovered that second-born boys are involved with the juvenile justice system at a rate 40 percent higher than first-borns and what is to blame?

More relaxed parenting and shorter maternity  leave!

“Second-born children tend to have less maternal attention than do their older siblings,” the authors write. They explain that firstborns get the benefit of their mother’s maternity leave following their own births and following their sibling’s birth.

The study also looked into in school suspension and truancy rates when determining the definition of “delinquency” so it wasn’t all all out criminal behavior.

The authors found that when a girl was added to the mix, delinquency in the middle second boy went down.

Interesting study.

My family dynamics are two boys and a girl and the second boy finds himself in more pickles and jams than the first but I think it is because he is more outgoing and has a larger peer group to get in trouble with, and also, his personality.

In my family, which has a youngest girl, the additional female did nothing to impact the boys behavior.

I suppose it is all relative, despite these stark trends in the data!

Fascinating!

The 5 Things You Can Do To Beat Cold and Flu Season

As I sit in bed suffering from my first cold of the Cold and Flu season, I thought I’d repost this blog article from a few year’s back on what you, as parents, can do to help your child avoid getting sick.

It’s inevitable that from time to time you and your child will be exposed to people who have a cold or who are spreading airborne germs.  While the odds are that your child will catch the occasional cold, there are certainly a few ways to reduce the number of colds that she gets.

  1. Try to keep ahead of the germs.  Disinfecting wipes or a water and bleach solution can be used for this task.  Make sure that you are regularly cleaning door knobs, handles, cabinets, toys, and anything else that little hands might come into contact with.  For every gallon of water, 1 ½ teaspoons of bleach should be added to create a solution to disinfect surfaces and toys. For diapering and toileting areas, 1 tablespoon of bleach can be added to 1 gallon of water. Let the bleach solution sit for 2 minutes before wiping it down.  If you are worried about your child coming into contact with chemicals, look for all-natural sanitizing solutions.  You’ll also want to make sure that everyone in the house frequently washes their hands with warm water and soap.
  2. Change toothbrushes often.  Toothbrushes can harbor germs and re-infect your child if the germs are not killed.  Dentists recommend that toothbrushes be replaced every 3 months if you are healthy, more often if you are not.  Toothbrushes should also be replaced after an illness. To kill germs soak the toothbrush in antiseptic mouthwash for 5 minutes or run your toothbrush through the dishwasher.  Warning: Boiling your toothbrush or running it through the dishwasher will wear out the bristles faster.
  3. Feed your child a healthy diet.  If your child eats a proper diet it will strengthen his immune system and he will be better able to fight off cold-causing germs.  Make sure he eats plenty of fruits and vegetables, as these contain the proper vitamins and minerals needed to build up his body’s natural defenses.  Eating foods high in vitamins is better for absorption of those vitamins than taking vitamin tablets.
  4. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water.  Water not only keeps your body hydrated during the very dry winter season, but it helps your body flush out unwanted toxins.  Water also helps your lymph system run better, which is part of your body’s immune system, and it fights off illness.
  5. Make sure your child gets enough sleep.  Sleeping is extremely important, and most people don’t get enough of it.  Doctors recommend that children sleep 10-11 hours per night.  A lack of sleep can affect how well your child grows because the body produces a growth hormone during sleep.  Digestion also takes place during sleep.  Bodies need this down time to recover and rebuild after a busy day of being a kid.  By getting enough sleep the body is better prepared to fight off germs.

Also, study this chart or print it out to figure out if you or your child is suffering from seasonal allergies or a cold. I was not sure at first but this chart helped me figure it out:

Alanis Morissette Pens Essay On Having PPD for the Third Time

alanis morisette and family

alanis morisette and family

Postnatal depression affects more than one in every 10 women within a year of giving birth,  and Alanis Morissette knows it well because she dealt with it after giving birth to each of her children.

The You Outta Know singer opened up about experiencing PPD in her blog after giving birth to her third child, son Winter in August this year.

PPD symptoms can include a persistent feeling of sadness, lack of enjoyment and interest, fatigue, difficulty bonding with your baby and lack of concentration.

“I have been here before. I know there is another side. And the other side is greater than my PPD-riddled-temporarily-adjusted-brain could have ever imagined: as a mum. As an artist. As a friend. As a collaborator. As a leader. As a boss. As an activist,” Morissette wrote.

“I saw how things got richer after I came through it the last two times. I have my eye on that prize again… even as I drag my ass through the molasses.”

The Jagged Little Pill recording artist added that she has “so much more support” the third time around, explaining that she prepared “as much as she could beforehand” for the eventuality of suffering from PPD.

“Some parts of the care-prep have been a godsend, and well-planned. But for all of this preparation – PPD is still a sneaky monkey with a machete – working its way through my psyche and body and days and thoughts and bloodwork levels,” Morissette said.

In her opinion, Morisette said she did not think our culture is  “set up to honor women properly after birth” but acknowledges that there has been improvement.

“I see it changing, which is so heartening… but the general way is bereft of the honoring and tenderness and attunement and village-ness that postpartum deeply warrants,” she said.

“This is where the fabric of our culture, of our world, is crafted. On physical, emotional, neurobiological, chemical, spiritual, mental, existential, practical levels. Wouldn’t it be cool if we treated all postpartum mums and families with this awareness and hon our[?]”

Morissette finished her essay declaring that “We’re not alone.”

Morissette gave birth to her first child with rapper Mario “Souleye” Treadway in 2010, son Ever.

Their second child, a daughter called Onyx, was born in June 2016.

CDC: Pregnant Women Should Get Flu, Whooping Cough Vaccines

Millions do not, and they may be endangering their babies as well as themselves. Only 35 percent of pregnant women get both vaccines; about half get one.

Millions of pregnant women in the United States are not getting two vital vaccines that protect not only their health, but their babies, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday.

The vaccines — against flu and whooping cough — are strongly recommended during every pregnancy. But only about 35 percent of pregnant women in the country are receiving both vaccines, according to a new C.D.C. report, and just over half receive one.

The consequences of missing vaccines for flu and whooping cough, also called pertussis, can be dire.

“Influenza and pertussis, or whooping cough, are serious infections that can be deadly for babies, especially for those who are too young to be vaccinated directly,” said Dr. Anne Schuchat, principal deputy director of the C.D.C. in a briefing. “We are stressing the importance of two safe and effective vaccines for pregnant women and the risks to both women and their babies when these vaccines are not given during pregnancy.”
