Kate Hudson and the Girl Pregnancy Equals More Morning Sickness Theory

Kate Hudson told PEOPLE magazine that she thinks the wives’ tail that being pregnant with a girl makes morning sickness worse for expecting moms than when carrying a boy.

The 39-year-old actress, who is also mom to sons 14-year-old Ryder and 6-year-old Bingham from previous relationships, says she has experienced increased morning sickness this third pregnancy.

“They say girls make you sicker and that, for me, has been the truth,” said the 39-year old actress who is expecting her first girl with  beau Danny Fujikawa.

There may be science behind the theory.

A  New York Times article looked at a study done by epidemiologists at the University of Washington that compared 2,110 pregnant women hospitalized with morning sickness during the beginning of their pregnancies to 9,783 pregnant women who didn’t get severely ill. The women with morning sickness were more likely to deliver a girl, and those who were so sick that they were hospitalized for three days or more were the most likely to be pregnant with a daughter—an 80 percent chance.

Other studies have come to the same conclusion, hypothesizing that hormones produced by female fetuses could be the reason those expectant moms are getting sick

Editor ‘s Note: every woman is different as for me a mom with two boys and a girl. My boy pregnancies gave me extreme morning sickness beyond the first trimester while I had close to none with my daughter.

Hilaria Baldwin Is About to Have Her 4th Child in 4 Years and Does It So Well!

Hilaria Baldwin is nearing the end of her fourth pregnancy in four years.

The supermama and celebrity yoga instructor gave People Magazine an exclusive interview which also included a  maternity shoot featuring her three children:  4-year old Carmen, 2-year old Rafael, 19-month old Leonardo.

In the interview, Baldwin, whose husband is actor-director Alec Baldwin, shares what has enabled her to balance so many little kids, her work and busy life.

“We make it fun. We don’t have an agenda,” the 34-year old revealed. “The moment when I try to make my kids line up, which I will try sometimes, it never works out. Just playing, capturing them in their element. It’s more about creating a relaxed environment.”

She talked about nesting and recycling and upcycling.

“It’s my third boy in less than three years so there wasn’t a lot to do,” she said. “Hand-me-downs from my other children. I’m recycling the crib from before so it was a very easy thing.”

Good stuff

Serena Williams’ New Reality Docu Series Chronicles Pregnancy Thru Delivery

I didn’t get an advanced media viewing of Serena Williams’ new HBO docu series Being Serena but TV critic Linda Jones of NPR did and here is a glimpse of her review of the project:

It that follows an elite athlete through pregnancy, childbirth, a wedding, and her return to competition takes as its subject, much of the time, her body. One of the intriguing parts of Being Serena is that visually, it worships her athleticism but respects the work it takes for her to look perfect all the time in pictures. You will see her without makeup, but you will also see her put on her makeup. She is candid about her public and private faces, her public and private bodies. The traditional grace of Serena the athlete sits comfortably alongside not only her very pregnant self, but also her during-childbirth and just-after-childbirth selves, which look very differently, but just as unmistakably, graceful.

The first two half-hour episodes don’t reveal anything unexpected about Williams, but they offer little glimpses that are a lot of fun, particularly for her many fans. You see her father come to meet her daughter, you see her working out while very, very pregnant, and you see her sing — rather adorably — to her baby and pets. If you like Serena Williams and you like the idea of passing uncomplicated time soaking in her charisma (and her blinding excellence), there’s no reason to resist.

The show premieres today, May 2 and you can read the rest of the NPR review here.

‘Fox and Friends’ Had A Mini Anchor Baby Boom

The moms of the nationally cabe morning news program Fox and Friends welcomed back former weekend anchor Anna Kooiman who recently had a baby after moving back to her native Australia in 2016.

The ladies used the opportunity to have a pow wow segment on air about mom life and to check in on Kooiman’s experience. The best part is everyone brought their babies on set!

Kooiman traveled 26 hours by plane when a two month old to get there.

The vet mommies asked Kooiman to dish on her pregnancy.  Kooiman shared a bit about any cravings she might have had while expecting her first child, son Brooks, with her husband Tim

“It was just carbs – bread, pretzels,” she stated.

Abby Huntsman, who also just had a baby, daughter Isabel Grace, back in November, chimed in on her first time pregnant experience from not long ago, adding that she craved sweets.

“Kids’ sugar cereals…I was like, why do I want Frosted Flakes?”

Everyone gave insights into their fave sweet daddy-baby moments.

Fellow correspondent Janice Dean said she adored the “Little things” like “he’ll play with the kids and just run upstairs and chase them around.”

Huntsman added, “I’ve caught my husband (Jeff) singing to Isabel. He has the worst voice in the world but it’s a sweet moment.”

 Kooiman could relate.

“I have Tim in the nursey [cooing] because he (the baby) just started cooing,” she said.

The topic shifted to what the moms want for their children that they never had and it got tender.

“My mom worked a bunch of different odd jobs and I don’t feel like she ever had a job that she truly loved that I saw her go to day in and day out, but I hope that they can see how much I love what I do,” shared Jackie Ibanez.

Ainsley Earhardt said of she and her husband’s aim to show their children that, “your dreams can come true. This is America. Those are the lessons we can teach our kids and say look we did it.”

After the segment, Earhardt shared on her Instagram page a super cute behind-the-scenes shot of the ladies with their little ones.

“Mornings are #betterwithmoms ❤ @foxandfriend,” she captioned a photo of some of the hosts with their children, including two newborns.

Inside Chrissy Teigen’s 2nd Surprise Baby Shower

We are sensing a pattern.

Chrissy Teigen has said she doesn’t like baby showers so her friends throw her surprise ones each time she is pregnant.

She gets two: a surprise baby shower in New York City for her east coast friends and family and one in Los Angeles, usually thrown by her Kardashian pals.

This time was no different.

After celebrating her and husband John Legend’s impending arrival in Manhattan at a surprise baby shower in November, this past Friday, Kim Kardashian-West hosted another low key baby shower.

Last round, the make up module treated her friend to a McDonald’s feast to celebrate now two-year old baby Luna before she was born.

This time, Kardashian chose Shake Shack to cater the event for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.

The all-star guest list included Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Legend, Kris Jenner, and more.

A buffet of five elegant cakes followed, each  featured puns and phrases with the word “Legend” in it like, “A Legend in the Making” and “Legendary.”

Teigen, who conceived her daughter through in vitro fertilization, decided to try IVF again for the couple’s second child. “You do the whole process again to try to get as many embryos and eggs as possible,” the mother-to-be told People back in February. “Everyone is freezing everything, and then you make the embryos out of what you freeze and try to make viable perfect embryos.”

Get Cardi B’s Brocolli Festival Look

Speaking of Cardi B., her maternity style has been similar to Khloe Kardashian’s marked by oversized t-shirts and boots. It’s kinda attainable and could be pulled off by most people.  You just have to get over any insecurity you have with wearing thigh high boots.

This weekend, the rapper sported an oversized black

Cardi B, outfitted in a salmon-colored ruching bump hugging dress, took the stage with Puerto Rican reggaeton and trap singer Ozuna  to perform their 2017 collaboration, “La Modelo.”

She later took to her Instagram page to thank the Latin Billboard Awards for giving her an opportunity to perform. The Bronx native did so in Spanish before being briefly interrupted by her fiance rapper Offset of Migos.

Though Jennifer Lopez wasn’t nominated for any awards, she did use the occasion to debut her  new song “El Anillo” during a very elaborate staging. The mom to twins showed off her voluptuous figure in a nude bejeweled body suit.

During the show, the guys took many of the awards especially Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Beiber whose hit song “Despacito” was a staple on the airwaves all last year.

Ne-Yo on His Wife Crystal Smith’s VBAC Plans

R&B singer-songwriter and producer Ne-Yo opened about his fear surrounding his wife Crystal Renault Smith’s upcoming attempted VBAC, the abbreviated term for vaginal birth after C-section.

As is commonly known, Caesarean section births carry more risk than vaginal ones  because a Caesarean section, which is major surgery, requires anesthesia, an army of specialists, nurses and pediatricians in the operating room prior to and after delivery.

A lot of women who plan vaginal births but end up getting C-sections often attempt vaginal deliveries afterwards.

That might precisely be the reasoning behind Crystal’s decision but it isn’t without risks and fear.

“I’m a little nervous just because [in] our first pregnancy, there were a few complications to the point where she had to get an emergency [cesarean] section,” he explained to the magazine after stopping by its Nowstudios. “This time, she is determined to not go c-section — she wants to do it the natural way.”

He continued:

“The complications that were [present] could still exist, so there’s a little bit of nervousness in there but above that, it’s more nervous excitement. I just want to meet him.”

Crystal has been doing everything usually prescribed to have a quick labor and delivery including exercising regularly and staying fit.

A quick scan of her Instagram shows she works out regularly and even attended Coachella this year in California at 7 months pregnant!

Wowza!

This would be the second child for the couple who is expecting a second son. They are parents to himsel Shaffer Chimere Smith, Jr born in March 2016.

Ne-Yo is also dad to 7-year old daughter Madilyn Grace and 6-year old son Mason with his ex fiancé actress Monyetta Shaw.
