Chrissy Teigen and John Legend Welcome Baby #2, A Son

Congrats to model and cook book author Chrissy Teigen and her singer-songwriter husband John Legend who welcomed their second child.

The Lip Sync Battle co-host announced the news on her Twitter account today.

“Somebody’s herrrrrrre! ” she tweeted with a photo of baby bottle and spirit fingers emojis. Teigen and hubby, real name John Roger Stephens. are parents to 2-year old daughter Luna.

As with their first child, they selected the baby’s gender after going through the IVF process which allows parents to select the sex of fertilized eggs that get implanted into the mom’s uterus.

Before starting their family, Teigen was open about her fertility struggles.

The couple celebrated the impending arrival at a surprise East Coast baby shower thrown by friends and a second one hosted by their pal Kim Kardashian-West.

Pregnant at Age 40: An Introspective Exploration Through Pop Culture

VOGUE takes an in depth introspective look at an author’s journey through pregnancy over 40 in a recent feature:

Childbearing is a fraught topic at any point during a woman’s life, but rarely is it more so than during the run-up to the fifth decade, when conventional wisdom—if not science—suggests a golden door slamming shut. It’s an inflection point of which Sheila Heti’s forthcoming book, due out in May, is the latest, but certainly not the only, investigation: As her narrator grapples with her own ambivalence, so, too, does a generation that came of age with a sense that possibilities will always be infinite. Women who accept that they might not reproduce, or decide not to, wonder if they should feel differently; those who desire children and don’t yet have them sometimes slip into a panic, as if a single birthday might be the hinge on which a fulfilling life pivots. Being a pregnant 40-year-old, as the women depicted here are (or just were), might not be all that different than being pregnant at any other age, but it tends to elicit fascination, or relief, in one’s contemporaries; I know because I was recently one myself.

Is it really such a big deal, though? Popular culture serves up outliers, like Janet Jackson and now Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth, who is pregnant with her second child at 49 (she had her first at 47) and recently revealed in an interview that her fertility doctor told her “50 is the new 40.” But popular culture is also responsible for the ticking-time-bomb neuroses of Bridget Jones and Charlotte York—the widespread perception, in the words of Naomi Watts’s childless 40-something in the Noah Baumbach comedy While We’re Young, that “after 35, it’s a shit show.”

The reality is that for a majority of women, it’s not. Many common impediments to fertility have nothing to do with a woman’s age; some, such as the widely reported decline in sperm counts, have nothing to do with a woman at all. In truth, the cliff isn’t usually 35, or even necessarily 40; it’s probably closer, on average, to 44 or so, though donor eggs can stretch those numbers further, and everyone is different.

In fact, the 40-to-44 and 45-to-49 age brackets are the ones in which U.S. birth rates—despite record lows overall—are rising fastest. This phenomenon is particularly easy to observe in cities like New York and Los Angeles, where career and coupling are competitive sports, and where my own obstetrician reassured me, during my first ultrasound last year at age 39, that more than half his patients were older than I was. “My college roommate is due one day before me; I’ve found quite a few other people my age are having kids within months of me,” says Amber Feld, a 40-year-old Los Angeles publicist expecting her first baby in April. “I was really surprised. I thought I might be the last, but I don’t think I will be even close to last.”

35 Ways to Feng Shui Your Newborn’s Nursery Before Baby Arrives

I hate clutter. I am also a minimalist. My motto is to keep everything in its place. I’ve followed some Feng Shui techniques in the past, but to

keep it simple, I just try my hardest to keep the children’s toys in their rooms or their basement playroom.

I keep all books, papers and office materials in my home office; all clothes in closets, hampers or laundry room etc.  And if an item finds its way out of place, I put it back where it belongs, promptly. I am a firm believer that clutter creates disorder and chaos and an settled mind.

Ohdeedoh did a great post years about Feng shuing your baby’s nursery that seemed helpful to me. Essentially, they took all the most sensible, practical advice

and enumerated into a simple checklist I loved!

Check out these awesome tips which I know to non-believers in the ancient Chinese principles and techniques may seem a bit looney, but those who have some some basic rudimentary studying of it will get it. I recommend starting with Feng Shui: Reference to Go: 50 Ways to Create a Healthy and Harmonious Home

Common-sense things you’re probably already doing:

:: Use natural materials whenever possible for bedding, curtains, flooring, rugs, furniture, and toys.

:: Keep drawers and closets organized and pruned of too-small and out-of-season clothing.

:: Have different sources of light in the nursery, some for daytime and others for evening and nighttime.

:: Limit the electrical appliances near the crib. This includes various monitors, air filters, vaporizers, fans, etc.

:: Open windows daily for good ventilation.

Some interesting tips you might also want to try:

:: Choose a soft shade of green, blue, pink, orange or beige for the walls.

:: No reds, yellows, grays, or blacks.

:: Bed sheets should be soothing colors.

:: Bright red is a no-no.

:: Soft blue is recommended.

MATTRESS

:: Place the crib at the furthest point from the door.

:: You don’t want it under a window or in the middle of the room. You also don’t want it against a wall that has plumbing on the other side of it.

:: Orient the crib so that it points north, which represents stillness. Southwest and northeast are acceptable second choices.

:: Keep the space under the crib empty. Resist the urge to use this space for storage.

:: Limit the number of toys and books in the room.

:: Curtains are preferable to blinds, and white curtains are best.

:: Try gentle essential oils, such as chamomile, rose, vanilla and lavender.

TIDY LIVING
:: Make sure there are no hard corners from dressers or changing tables pointed at the baby’s head or body. If there is an immovable point, try to cover it with a silk vine or red ribbon.

:: Reconsider the patterns and images in the room, especially if it is a themed room.

:: According to feng shui guide Tabitha Miller, Avoid garish cartoon characters and action figures. How can boys “stop moving” when they are sleeping on planes, trains and automobiles? That theme would better for a playroom.

:: Nature designs are excellent and promote growth.

:: Animal designs should also be chosen carefully.

:: Ferocious or aggressive animals, even when they are made for a baby’s room, should not be chosen. Some of these are found in jungle motif

designs and include lions, tigers, bears, and reptiles.

:: Make sure that designs do not have harsh points, such as arrows, crosses, diamonds, or triangles.

:: Motifs with fish are fine as long as the watery theme is not overly dominant. Otherwise, respiratory, lung, nasal, or kidney problems could develop.”

If you’re truly desperate for a good night’s sleep, you’ve got nothing to lose by trying these ideas:

:: Start from scratch. Move the baby to a new room.

:: According to one expert, “Ideally, a child’s room should be in the middle, or the ‘bosom’ of the house,

to induce feelings of security in the child.

:: A new baby should have a bedroom that is not over a garage or has an empty space below.

:: Thebedroom also shouldn’t be located where there is excessive noise that might keep the baby from sleeping, such as close to a living room where

the TV is on or close to a noisy street or neighbor.”

:: Do a thorough cleaning of the entire room — including walls, baseboards, windows and floors — with natural cleaners.

:: Repair wall holes, cracks, squeaky windows, peeling paint.

:: Follow the principles above in designing and arranging the space.

:: Declutter your own room of baby-related paraphernalia.

:: While you’re at it, organize the baby stuff in the rest of your home, too.

Study: Too Much Tea Drinking In Pregnancy Leads To Overweight Babies

Drinking three cups of tea a day during pregnancy increases the risk of having overweight children, according to a study of more than 50,000 mothers.

It found pregnant women who consumed more than 200mg a day of caffeine were more likely to have children that are overweight at preschool and school ages.

The study, which was carried out by researchers at Sahlgrenska Academy in Sweden in collaboration with the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, tracked the weight of children up to the age of eight and was one of the world’s largest health surveys of pregnant women.

Victoria Secret Model Chanel Iman and NFL Hubby Sterling Shepard Are Expecting First Child

Chanel Iman is celebrating this Mother’s Day as a mama-to-be!

The Victoria’s Secret Angel is expecting her first child with New York Giants‘ Sterling Shepard.

“Our focus has always been on love and family and we look forward to instilling these qualities in our little one,” Chanel and Sterling exclusively told E! News. “We are truly blessed!”

The model shared the news on social media on Sunday just in time for Mother’s Day. “Daddy and Mommy can’t wait to meet you,” she captioned a photo of herself baring her baby bump. “As I approach motherhood I want to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and mommies to be.”

As E! News previously reported, the couple wed on March 3 in front of family and friends in a romantic ceremony following a whirlwind four month engagement.

The bride, who was dressed in head-to-toe white while walking down the aisle, flowers in-hand, appeared to be on cloud-nine while saying her I do’s. So happy, in fact, that there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

Back in December, the 25-year-old wide receiver popped to the question with a stunning rose gold sparkler on Iman’s 27th birthday. She later posted a photo to her Instagram account sharing the news.

“A night full of tears of happiness. I’m beyond excited to spend the rest of my life with you @sterl_shep3 you are my soulmate, my best friend, my everything!” she wrote at the time. “Can’t wait to be your Mrs.”

After meeting at Victor Cruz‘s birthday party in November 2016, the supermodel began dating the NFL star.

“When I first met him, he was in a suit and looked so sharp,” she revealed to People in August. Shepard added, “I walked up to her and bought her a drink and it was over after that.”

Congrats to the gorgeous couple on their growing family!
