Why I think Ayesha Curry is Having a Boy This Time

Ayesha Curry is not having a go at it this third pregnancy which makes me think she is having a baby boy this time.

The third-time mom-to-be posted a pregnancy update on her blog this week.

“I️ wish I️ could say I️ feel like a maternal goddess drifting through my pregnancy unscathed by acne, nausea and the occasional ‘oops I️ peed a little,’ but that would be a lie,” the cookbook author wrote. “I️ am a little over 4 months and basically almost halfway through my pregnancy.”

She added: “I️ still have nausea, can’t sleep, pee every 5 seconds and am just so darn tired. I️ have what docs call Hyperemesis. This basically means the nausea, incessant sickness and exhaustion probably won’t go away.”

Curry then compared her condition to the same one that hamstringed the Duchess of Cambridge Catherine.

”The only silver linings here are that my itty bitty baby is healthy and Princess Kate has suffered from the same condition during her pregnancies. Not feeling super royal though.”

My pregnancies with my boys were just as she described and my girl was a breeze. I think these different symptoms explains a lot. I may be wrong. We will see.

Curry, who also has a line do Home pedicure that sell at Target, has two daughters 5-year old Riley and 2-year old Ryan with husband, NBA Star Steph Curry.

Hang in there, mama!

This Millionaire Mom’s Viral Video About Her Daughter’s First Week At College is Hillare

Before Nicole Walters built her multi-million dollar business, the Baltimore native and her husband adopted their three foster girls, now aged 6, 15 and 18 when their drug addicted mom returned from prison still unable to care for them.

Last Summer, when she dropped off her eldest who had just turned 18 off to college, she hoped to be able to communicate with her regularly. One the second day, the coed went ghost and failed to return her mom and dad’s telephone calls. It was only til the third day did she answer with the ridiculous excuse that she was out with friends and too busy to pick up!

Well that didn’t sit well with Ms. Walters. She and hubby confronted baby girl (and later her friends) inside her dorm room. She then grabbed her phone to film the after show. It is hilarious! Tough love x 1,000! The video went viral, garnering 5.4 Million views!

I know Walters from a Facebook group for entrepreneurs I belong to that she was also an active member of and she was always vibrant and attracted tons of responses, engagement and followers there. She has a magnetic, vibrant and very bubbly personality so there is no wonder she has been able to parlay her success in the business and corporate world into a mutli-7 -figure business.

My fave part of the viral is right in the middle when the African native mocked the response that an African mom would give to their daughter’s first week of school. The end is the best when she explains that as an adoptive mom, she understood that her daughter was not used to having people in her life who truly cared about her wellbeing. Well she learned that day! You have to watch this hilariuos video here:

Also, this is not Walters’ first viral video. Her video about hiding from the fancy “Tennis” moms garnered close to 670,000 views as of this post and she was featured on US Weekly and other press outlets!

Kylie is “happy she can slowly emerge into the public again,” a source told E! News exclusively, saying, “Kylie is in a really good place right now, and is loving being a mom.”

“Her relationship with Travis has made huge strides since having baby Stormi, and they are back in a good place,” the source said. “Travis has been staying overnight at Kylie’s several times a week when he is not working or out of town and has also been giving Kylie her time to bond with the baby alone. Kylie is like a new person now; every move and every decision she makes, she takes Stormi into consideration. She is obsessed with her baby and the focus is all on Stormi.”

The source also said that she has had a lot of help with the baby from mom Kris Jenner and BFF Jordyn Woods and that “recently, Kylie hired a nurse/nanny to help her, which she didn’t think she was going to do at first.”

“All of her sisters are constantly checking in with her and coming over to the house to visit Stormi,” the source added. “Kylie asks for advice all the time. She did prepare for the baby with several specialists and took private classes so she was well-prepared beforehand.”

Before Kylie revealed Stormi’s name, many people speculated that her name was inspired by butterflies.

“When Travis and Kylie started dating, Kylie became obsessed with Travis’ song “Butterfly Effect”, and butterflies became ‘their thing’ to describe their relationship that was blossoming into something beautiful,” the source said. “Storm is somewhat related to the butterfly effect and that’s why they decided on the name.”

As for Kylie and Travis’ relationship, they are in no rush to walk down the aisle.

“Kylie is not engaged, however that ring she has been wearing is from Travis,” the source said. “He gave it to her when she was first pregnant and it has several emerald-cut diamonds. They are in no rush to get married or even engaged, and Stormi is their only priority right now.”

The source also talked about Kylie’s post-pregnancy health regimen.

“Her sisters have tried to get her to workout with them but she has never been a fan of it,” the source said. “Since having Stormi, she is still not super focused on the baby weight, and knows that majority of the weight will come off naturally. She has been eating healthier but she isn’t very strict like her sisters.”

Meanwhile, Stormi has been showered with gifts. Kylie had showcased many of Stormi’s outfits and shoes in her nursery in a pregnancy and baby reveal video.

“Kylie thinks it’s so fun to dress her every morning, and loves organizing Stormi’s baby closet,” the source said. “She has received SO many gifts from friends and family members, and Stormi basically takes up a huge chunk of her house now.”

You Can Make an Interfaith Marriage Work

With the divorce rate in America affecting around half of all marriages, it’s clear that building a successful, long-lasting union isn’t easy. When partners come from two different faiths, the challenges can be even more daunting. With love, respect and a healthy dose of compromise, however, interfaith marriages can be both successful and happy. If you’re in an interfaith marriage or relationship, here are some things to keep in mind:

Let Love Open the Lines of Communication

Interfaith unions are most successful when both spouses remain committed to facing the unique challenges that dual-faith marriages present with honesty and integrity. Although open communication about differences in faith should begin before marriage, it’s never too late to start the conversation. In A Non-Judgmental Guide to Interfaith Marriage, Rabbi Steven Carr Reuben encourages communication by reminding couples that “You won’t stop loving each other if you talk about your religion.” It’s important to remember that love is one human quality that practitioners of every religion value. If you’re nervous about talking to your spouse about faith, that’s OK. Tell him you’re nervous and that you’d like to talk about some serious matters, but you don’t know how or where to start. The more open you are, the better it will go for the both of you.

Learn About Each Other’s Faith

In the book Interfaith Families: Personal Stories of Jewish-Christian Intermarriage, Jane Kaplan stresses the importance about learning about your spouse’s religion as a way to develop mutual respect. Asking each other questions is not only a learning experience, but a way to determine the depth of commitment that each partner has to the faith. Bringing the extended family into the conversation may also be helpful, as long as everyone promises beforehand to treat each other with courtesy and respect. As always, open and honest questions are the best way to go.

Offer Education and Choices for Children

Any discussion about having and raising children should include a conversation about religion, particularly as it pertains to education. Couples need to decide how important it is to them that their children be educated in two religions, one faith, or none. Because the decision can influence the schools and childcare facilities that parents choose for their children, couples need to make clear choices early on in the marriage. Whatever choices you make, it’s critical for the well-being of your children that you and your spouse present a united front. A show of mutual respect is a valuable life lesson that will serve your children well as they grow into adulthood. Answer your child’s questions, encourage him and help him learn how to make his own decisions.

Keep Holiday Traditions

When discussing how involved each spouse wants to be in his or her chosen faith, holiday observances should be included in the conversation. For some people, religious observances are so linked to holidays that celebrating without them is unimaginable. Even people who say that religion isn’t important to them, for example, may still find it difficult to enjoy the holiday season without a Christmas tree or a menorah. Couples may discover that it’s enjoyable to include traditions from both sides of the family. It’s likely that the in-laws will appreciate the inclusion of family traditions as well.

Celebrate Your Differences

Author Naomi Schaefer Riley conducted a national survey of couples in interfaith marriages for her book ‘Til Faith Do Us Part. While findings from the survey did indicate a higher rate of conflict among interfaith couples — which isn’t surprising given the natural struggles such couples face — Riley also found that “marrying someone of another faith tended to improve one’s view of that faith.” A partner in an interfaith marriage herself, Riley encourages couples to take the challenges of a dual-faith partnership seriously, but also to celebrate the fact that they live in a country where they can marry anyone they wish despite their differences in faith.

When it comes to learning to navigate the pitfalls of an interfaith marriage, there are no hard and fast rules. Couples may feel less pressure and enjoy their marriage more by giving themselves permission to try a different approach if the situation warrants it. There’s nothing wrong with changing course midstream if a better solution shows up on the horizon. When it comes to a happy marriage, compromise is much more about finding mutual success than it is about one side admitting defeat.

This Is The Toy You Get to Calm A Fussy Baby at Night (REVIEW)

You’ve heard the tales of brand new parents using a hairdryer to pacify the incessant cries of their babies because of the commonly known fact that you can sooth an inconsolable newborn with familiar sounds like songs he heard while in utero. It’s that white noise that calms them right down. I’m a firm believer.

We’ve always credited parents for coming up with the most inventive and innovative solutions!

Two moms with a combined 5 children among them found an automatic solution to having to put on white noise emitting sounds to soothe a baby in the middle of the night: Whisbear is a plush bear that emits the same swooshing sound that surrounds a baby while in his mom’s tummy.

The super soft grey humming Bear is also considered an intelligent toy that helps new parents overcome one of the biggest challenges of early stage parenting — lack of sleep.

The bear is inspired by creatures in children’s books. It has a cute big old bobble head and four long legs lined in crinkly material that a baby can pull and tug on. It’s a Bearhead. The crinkly legs make the bear a sensory toy as well that promotes both  fine motor and sensory development skills.

Two magnets sewn inside the forefeet connect over a crib, car seat or stroller so the bear itself doesn’t’ become a suffocation hazard and can do its job safely from above.

Sisters Zuzanna Sielicka-Kalczynska and Julia Sielicka-Jastrz came up with Whisbear in late 2014 and quickly brought it to market in their native Warsaw, Poland starting with their own family and personal circle.

“We have used Whisbear with our own children, the children of our friends and many more people. Whisbear really works,”

They even gifted a bear to Princess Charlotte when she was born. Kate thanked them personally when she formally presented the sisters an award for their invention a few years back.

How Does It Work

Insert the innovative circular disc holding the shushing sound inside the bear and it shushes for 40 minutes straight. If you push the on button until you hear a beep, you activate the CRYsensor mode. In that mode, the bear only comes on when it “hears” the baby fuss, wail or cry.  To adjust the level of the shushing, press and hold until you get to just the right volume of the humming for you and your baby’s comfort, then release the button.  It gets it just right!

In 2016, after winning numerous toy awards, the sister makers of the toy took their success to the United States when they were selected by Google-backed Blackbox.vc Accelerator for international start-ups in Palo Alto, California and now the bears are available to American moms too!

Our Thoughts

We were generously gifted a complimentary bear to review. My sister’s in law got a bear for her brand new boy, Micah, born in January and she loved it! Mom Tashae said, “miraculously, it works!” Whisbear calms him right down when he wakes in the middle of the night and gets him to go back to sleep before she can even get up to check on him. So it turns out this toy is a sleep saver for moms and dads too!

T’s sending us a photo of it in action to share soon. We’ll post it on our Insta when it’s ready! Although we didn’t pay for ours, Micah’s mom said she would gladly pay the $49.99 retail price.  She said the bear gave her peace of mind and is actually cost-saving for the amount of productivity she (and dad) got when they could sleep for longer periods of time, thanks to the bear.

Another great plus is that the bear comes with a lifetime guarantee! (when you register your purchase) Sweet! The toy also has excellent reviews over on Amazon.

And remember recently when we blogged about how the top beauty bloggers are becoming moms and are switching up their online social media content to include baby-related imagery, news and reviews? It turns out a few have even used Whisbear for their little ones and found success. We say this based on the pics we peeped on Whisbear’s Insta:

A lot of you asked for a review of this after I posted on my stories so here goes…If you’re one of my long suffering friend then I’ll already have droned on about how white noise it my number one baby survival tool. If you’ve been especially unlucky, I’ll have bored you with the theory behind why it works so well. ? Anyway lets just say this @whisbear_official gift from the gods was made for me. White noise disguised in a cute teddy that clips onto anything by magnetic legs. I was sold already but the cherry on top is the cry sensor, so as soon as Remy stirs, moans, (& in our case the last 2 nights) coughs, the noise kicks in. Meaning I don’t even have to move my lazy butt across the bed to start it up. ?? I don’t even wake up! It’s going to be a god send when he’s in his own room next month! (I’ll add a video of it in action today to my stories). Interested to know who already uses white noise, because I’m always surprised by how many people haven’t heard of it?

Carnival Babies and Pregnant Bellies

This week is Carnival all around the world and Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Historically, the tradition, which dates back to Medieval Europe and French aristocrats relates to the day or days before the penitential Lenten season when people partake in revelry and debauchery to get it out of their system before commendint the 40 day period of mourning, fasting and praying.

The festivities have evolved to include brightly colored floats in Brazil and bands in primates, beaded and bedazzled coordinated costumes there and all over the world!

In year’s past, I dubbed Wednesdays “Bump Day” and used it to highlight a creative pregnancy art or a model to feature.

In the above collage are images of heavily pregnant who chose to put on her beads and feathers anyway and challenge Samba queen or wore a Frontline costume!

So I Got a New Radio Syndicated TV Gig

Followers of this website may or may not know that I wear a lot of hats in addition to being a content creator and editor of this blog .

I manage a tech blog, a biz blog which has a 10 minute podcast associated with it, a hair blog and an online learning platform which has its own YouTube channel and Etsy shop.

I also have a stock photo company dedicated to showcasing diverse and inclusive imagery.

I don’t cross promote my many many other projects for the sake of keeping them independent but I did want to announce that I have yet another gig!

Last week, I started taping what promises to be a fantastic, informative, entertaining and dynamic new radio show called “Coming to America” hosted by a very old friend who I used to do publicity for when I had a PR agency.

Her name is Wayna. I’ve featured her on the blog before and she was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2009. Since then, she had toured internationally and most famously with the renowned Stevie Wonder during his last global “Songs in the Keys of Life” Tour. She is shifting and is the host of this new show that features myself as a panelist along with Peabody Award-winning hip hop artist, journalist and activist Asheru Denn and DJ Roddy Rod who has produced hits for Raheem DeVaughn, and several other notable, award-winning artists.

The show will air on DC Radio which broadcasts on Howard University’s HD FM Channel. WHUR 96.3 HD4. It is being video taped by the Ethiopian Broadcasting Servicr which reaches millions of household in Africa, globally and via their ROKU channel. The television syndicated version will also be broadcast on DC’s Cable channel. The show will also stream and be on a podcast!

We discuss life for those in the DC area who are expats, recent and veteran immigrants from the African, Caribbean, Latin America Diaspora and beyond. We feature accomplished guests from the community and hope to inspire, edify and provide a refreshing additional voice to the media and airwaves.

I taped the first show last week and had a blast! We featured Grammy-Award nominated blind jazz artist Raul Midon who shared some awesome stories about his road to stardom and the trials and tribulations of doing so without the benefit of full sight.

I’ll append clips to the full show to this post when they go live! And will share more deets where you can tune in! Thanks!

We now return to your regularly scheduled blog!
