Emmy Awards Moms on the Red Carpet and Winners

Emmy Awards red carpet looks

The Primetime Emmys went down tonight at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

In contention for awards were several of the celeb moms we’ve featured on the blog in year’s past including Anna Chlumsky (in J. Mendel) for Best Lead Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Veep and Christina Applegate  (in Vera Wang) who was nominated but didn’t win Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her amazing role in Dead To Me and finally Laura Linney who did win the Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Ozark.

On the Purple Carpet, we spotted Padma Lakshmi, my fave dress tonight in Christian Siriano; Busy Phillips in Lela RoseKerry Washington in Alexandre Vauthier; Taraji P. Henson also in Vera Wang;  Regina King in Jason Wu; Betthany Frankel in stunning Alex Perry dress, Iris & Ink shoes, and an Audemars Piguet watch.

Kristin Cavallari  interviewed stars as part of the E! Live from the Red Carpet event wearing a sunny yellow strapless Nicole + Felicia Couture dress with Stuart Weitzman  pumps.

Oh and The Good Life‘s Kristen Bell stunned as well celebrating her show’s nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Celeb Mamas Slayed 2019’s Met Gala Pink Carpet

This year’s annual gala to celebrate the opening of a new exhibit at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of the Arts, was more over the top than ever before.

Perhaps because the theme was “Camp”, maybe, celebrities brought extra extravagance and bold and gregarious fashion and antics.

The official theme of the Met’s 2019 was “Camp: Notes on Fashion” and celebrates the newest exhibit which is inspired by Susan Sontag‘s 1964 essay that defines camp as “love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.”

I think Lady Gaga might have won with her theatrics that included he unraveling and revealing of not one but four looks by designer, with the assistance of a small army of flamboyant but meticulous handlers.

Cardi B’s presentation and actor Billy Porter’s were quite spectacular and so much so, I almost forgot previous mega head turners Rihanna, Beyoncé, Madonna and third-time mom-to-be Blake Lively were conspicuously missing.

My fave looks were by women who are not yet moms (per this is a celebrity pregnancy blog so they focus is on moms)

First was singer and Endgame actress Hailee Steinfield

My second fave was Lupita Nyong’o who is stunning!

And of course, we saw lots of the celebrity moms we have featured on Bellyitch who each brought their total A game to the party and did it up right!

I am proud of myself for having the institution memory to have been able to recognize all of these beautiful moms without reading the caption to see who they are. Woot.

Academy Awards Timeline of Bumps on the Red Carpet

In 2012, Adele welcomed her first child, son Angelo, and the next year, she won an Oscar for Best Song for the and explained having to express breast milk in the bathroom to relieve her engorged breast.

The “Rolling in the Deep” singer missed out on having to be heavily pregnant on the red carpet like several of her fellow A-listers in year’s past.

Oscar has played host to several heavily pregnant

In 1992, Susan Sarandon was almost due with her son Miles

whom she welcomed (with then-beau Tim Robbins) when she was nominated for her role in Thelma & Louise at age 47. (She didn’t win but was nominated 5 times and won Best Actress in 1996 for her role in Dead Man Walking.)

In 1998, Glen Close was 8-months pregnant when nominated for Fatal Attraction.

In 2000, four-time Academy Award nominee Annette Bening was nominated for her role in American Beauty at almost 8 months pregnant with her fourth child with husband Warren Beatty, daughter Ella.

In 2003, Catherine Zeta-Jones accepted the award for Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Chicago while almost full term with daughter Cary with husband .

In 2004, Marcia Gay-Harden was nominated for her role in Mystic River, while pregnant with twins!

In 2006, Rachel Weisz was 7-months preggers with her and

then-boyfriend Darren Aronofsky when she won the Best Supporting Actress trophy for The Constant Gardner.

In 2011, Black Swan star Natalie Portman was 6 months pregnant with her and her choreographer husband Benjamin Millepied,  first son, Aleph when she accepted her Best Actress award.

In 2014, although Kerry Washington was not nominated for an Oscar, she did attend, cradling the baby bump from her first child, Isabelle.

That same year, Chris Hemsworth ’s wife, Elsa Pataky  in 2014 wore blue sequins but maybe made a fashion mistake of wearing it under and not on top of her belly.

Kylie Jenner joins Long List of Celebs Who Don’t Show Their Babies Faces Online; Here’s Why

I saw a few reports about how makeup mogul and reality TV star Kylie Jenner has selected to stop showing her daughter Stormi’s face on social media after a few mean trolls left nasty comments about the infant.

As Celebrity Baby Scoop reported, “fans noticed that Stormi’s face was hidden and one follower, in particular, noted that she had ‘cut her baby out’, Jenner replied, ‘Yeah I cut my baby out. I’m not sharing photos of my girl right now.'”

Reportedly, she was excited to share her baby with the world but has had to retreat amidst the mean trolls, and her beau and Stormi’s dad Travis Scott is doing the same, only showing her tiny Nikes in a recent Snap Story.

I cannot say I blame her. One of this blog’s most viewed post is about Aoki Lee, the brilliant daughter of Russell Simmons and our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Kimora Lee Simmons, who avoids posting photos of her face on her own Instagram page, and how I believe it stems from nasty comments from the public about her looks.

The harsh critique from the public probably explains why Beyonce famously shielded her daughter Blue Ivy‘s face when she shared photos of her during her infancy to toddler years, and Kelly Rowland for the first year of her son’s life as well.

If you follow actress Zoe Saldana‘s social media, you will see that she was telling t to share a photo of her twin boys, Cy and Bowie and their baby brother either but has recently.

Over the pond, singer and TV presenter Rochelle Humes features many snaps of her daughters on Instagram but none of her face.

Another one of this blog’s bumpwatch alums Keisha Knight-Pulliam also refuses to show her daughter Ella Grace’s face on social media.

Then there are the other extremes who don’t show their children’s faces at all, like Kerry Washington, Eva Mendes, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively until recently.

The fans demand it, and many fuss about being denied the chance to gawk at their babies, as if it their right like these who commented under one of Knight-Pulliam’s pics.

And those who do share like Tia Mowry and Solange Knowles have found themselves having to snap back and put mean trolls in their place who called both their sons ugly, as recently as a few years ago.

These reactions prove why it is not a bad idea to keep something private.

Yellow, Gold and Celestial Beings at Met Ball 2018 Red Carpet (PHOTOS)

So the annual fundraising gala to mark the opening of the new Spring exhibit at The Metropolitan Gallery of Art in New York City went down last night.

As with this event every years, guests are asked to come dressed according to the theme of the new exhibit: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination. This year’s official hosts were Anna Wintour, Rihanna, Amal Clooney (above in Richard Quinn) and Donatella Versace (who dressed a lot of the attendees this year)

With a theme like that not only do you expect some backlash at what could be expected as a parade of sacrilegiousness, but you sorely expect some interpretations of Angels, the Virgin Mary, the Pope and Cardinals! They all were there last night too.

We just cover the moms and other celeb women we have frequently covered starting with two moms-to-be:  Homeland star Claire Danes who is expecting her second child with husband Hugh Dancy and rapper and reality TV star Cardi B who is expecting her first child with her fiance rapper Offset.

Danes wore a custom floor-length empire waist Marni precious duchesse  red, magenta and caramel color block gown paired with Marni Monile handbag  and multicolour platform sandals.

Cardi looked regal in a custom golden bejeweled white Moschino gown. She was accompanied to the event by designer Jeremy Scott though her fiancé was there with the other two members of his group, Migos.

Of our other Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums, we noticed a few trends within the theme.

Gold was one. Kerry Washington in a gorgeous floor-length Ralph Lauren dress with her afro serving as a halo! Evan Rachel Wood, Kim Kardashian-West in Versace and Irina Shayk.

We saw structure, ornateness and royal crimson in Solange‘s Iris Van Harper ensemble, Blake Lively, Jennifer Lopez‘s spectacular Balmain modern take on Joan of Arc and Scarlett Johanssson

Yellow was a prevalent theme and color and everyone wearing it last night looked stunning including Lily Aldridge in Ralph Lauren, Huma Abedin and Gabrielle Union in Prabal Gurung dress, Tasaki jewels, Stuart Weitzman shoes and a Tyler Ellis clutch.

Anne Hathaway went with volume in her  Valentino gown which she paired did James Banks earrings, a The Code bracelet and Jimmy Choo heels.

Meanwhile, Gisele Bundchen did old Hollywood glam but in an environmentally friendly way by working with Versacd to repurpose an old dress.

“Thank you @versace for working so hard to make me an eco dress. The fabric and lining used are both 100% organic silk ecologically dyed, the threads are 100% organic cotton and everything is certificated as GOTS: Global Organic Textile Standard,” she captioned a photo of herself in the dress before heading out to the ball.

Kylie Jenner made her first official official red carpet appearance in a black velvet Alexander Wang gown with Chopard jewelry with her beau rapper Travis Scott since the two welcomed their first child together, daughter Storming

Uma Thurman was accompanied to the event by Maya Hawke, her daughter with Ex Ethan Hawke and  donned a white Gabriela Hearst dress, Giampiero Bodino jewelry, and Manolo Blahnik heels

Most people played it safe but understandingly so because they probably didn’t want to cross the line and have to dodge lightning bolts! ha!

Bump Watch: Eva Longoria, Chrissy, Khloe and Duchesss Cate

What’s up with your fave expecting celebrity?

We stalk follow them so you don’t have to.

Khloe Kardashian was spotted out and about with her mom Kris Jenner recently. Kardashian and her beau NBA Cleveland Cavaliers star Tristan Thompson are expecting their first child together.

Another first-time mom-to-be Eva Longoria was spotted at the Costume Designers Guild Awards in Beverly Hills with our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Kerry Washington and Jane the Virgin actress and Golden Globes winner Gina Rodriguez.

Longoria and her husband José Antonio “Pepe” Bastón are expecting a baby boy later this year.

Catherine The Duchess of Cambridge was seeing double as the former Kate Middleton walked past a mirrored door while attending The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange Reception at Buckingham Palace in London, England. She and Prince William ate parents to 4-year old Prince George and 4-year old Princess Charlotte.

R

Chrissy Teigen was spotted out and about being healthy snacking on an apple in New York City. Teigen and husband John Legend are expecting a son after welcoming  daughter Luna in April 2016.

All the Inspirational Super Bowl LI Commercials Featuring Kids

Last night was the Super Bowl. A lot of non-sports fans watch the big game for the creative commercials that debut. I pulled those that featured babies and kids in them and in particular two which paid homage to diversity, inclusion, motivation and inspiration to the youth and all of us to do better.

T-Mobile used actress (and our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum) Kerry Washington to narrate and give empowering messages in commercial featuring lots of super adorable and cute babies.

“Some people may see your differences and be threatened by them,” Washington intones. “But you are unstoppable. You’ll love who you want. You’ll demand fair and equal pay. You will not allow where you come from to dictate where you’re going.”

Love it! Coca-Cola also had a pretty poetic commercial. Various cast recite a poem:

There’s no one quite like you. Or her. Or him. Or them. The world is filled with over 7 billion unique yous who are all special in their own ways. And while we’re different, there’s a Coke for every single one of us. Whether it be in a glass bottle, or a mini, or an ice-cold Coke Life, or a Coke Zero sugar in a can, there’s a refreshing way to Enjoy Yours. There’s a Coke for he, and she, and her, and me, and them. There’s a different Coke for all of us–– Especially one for him. No feet have wandered where you’ve walked,  No eyes saw what you’ve seen. No one’s lived the life you live,  No head has held your dreams. To act the same would be mundane—  what a boring thing to do! That’s why there is just one me  and a billion unique yous. We all have different looks and loves,  likes and dislikes, too— But there’s a Coke for we and us,  and there’s a Coke for you.

Love it! Watch:

America Ferrera Announces She’s Expecting First Baby

Ugly Betty alum America Ferrera is going to be a mom!

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants alum made a New Year’s-themed baby announcement on Sunday, December 31 by posting a super cute photo of herself with her hubby, actor Ryan Piers Williams.

“Mas besos (por favor).” she captioned with the couple wearing shimmery “2018” glasses and America’s holding up a small onesie. “We’re welcoming one more face to kiss in 2018! Wishing you #MásBesos in the New Year! #babybesos #HappyNewYear ?.”

Piers William  shared an identical photo, as well as a close-up of the onesie, writing, “Making room for new and beautiful things to come in 2018!#happynewyear.”

Congrats!

Ferrera is part of a new movement announced on Monday which involves women of power and influence including Shonda Rhimes, our Bumpwatch alums Kerry Washington, her fellow first-time mom-to-be Eva Longoria; the lawyer Nina L. Shaw; the actress Reese Witherspoon; attorney Tina Tchen and more, pledging support to working-class women in an open letter signed by hundreds of women in show business, many of them A-listers. The letter also ran as a full-page ad in The New York Times, and in La Opinion, a Spanish-language newspaper.

Celebrity Eclipse-Watched In Style and On Instagram

It seems like everyone and their mamas were out celebrating and trying to get a glimpse of the Total Solar Eclipse yesterday.

Celebrities included.

Some took to their social media accounts to share their experience with their fans and followers.

Others used the hashtag to show off their fab bodies, fashion-centered poses or add to their perfectly color-coordinated Instagram accounts like…

Kim Kardashian-West, who shared a photo of herself and two cute kids North and Saint in a brown, black and Pink color scheme shot.

Snooki who looked fabulous and posed upside down on her deck, we think.

La La Anthony showed off her hot bod on a deck too overlooking the water. Grrrrrr!

At least Niceole Richie was upfront, by posting a fashion pic under the caption, “The Eclipse was yesterday” LOL!

Busy Phillips says her daughter Cricket took this fab shot. Good job, kiddo!

Kerry Washington and her Scandal co-stars watched together.

Savannah Guthrie also checked it out with her TODAY co-workers.

Tez Palmer (above) and Brooklyn Decker (below) shared cool skyward silhouette shots.

Fun Times!
