Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger are Expecting 1st Child

by E! News’ Alyssa Morin

Oh baby, baby!

Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger will soon be a family of four! Over the weekend, E! News learned the newlyweds are expecting their first child together. As some know, the Avengers: Endgame actor is already a proud father to his son, Jack, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Anna Faris.

According to an insider, Katherine and Chris couldn’t be more excited over the baby news. What’s more? Their little one is expected to arrive in a few months.

“They are completely thrilled to be starting a family. Family is everything to them and it’s a very exciting time,” a source told E! News. “The baby is due early fall. Katherine shared the news with her family very early on.”

In fact, The Gift of Forgiveness author couldn’t keep her baby news a secret from her Maria Shriver.

“She tells her mom everything and couldn’t wait,” the insider shared. “Maria is especially thrilled with the news and can’t wait to be a grandma.”

The insider added, “[Maria] adores Chris and she knows Katherine will be a natural mom.”

According to our source, the couple has yet to reveal their baby’s gender to friends. If anything, our source said the duo is living in-the-moment and going with the flow.

“[Katherine] hasn’t done a lot to prepare yet. She hasn’t wanted to jinx anything,” the insider explained. “But she is very much enjoying being at home and having this time to relax and really enjoy being pregnant.”

It seems the 30-year-old star will be a stellar mother, especially since she loves surrounding herself with kids and babies all the time.

As the insider pointed out, “She always dotes on her friends kids and, of course, her stepson Jack. She is gentle, loving and caring. She has such motherly instincts and loves to take care of everyone already.”

This sentiment has been shared before.

“Katherine has always loved kids and Jack is very special to her,” a separate source previously told E! News. “She truly enjoys being with him and watching him grow. She wants to be a great stepmom and do everything she can to provide him with a nurturing and loving home.”

Even Chris himself has gushed over his wife and her openness to his son.

“She has changed my life for the better in so many ways. My heart, my soul, my son—I feel all are so safe with her,” the actor told E! News. “She’s a great step mom, she’s god willing going to be a great mom one day.”

Yes she is! In a matter of months, the newlyweds will be parents to their little one.

Welcome to the world, baby girl Culiner!

E! News can exclusively reveal that Daily Pop co-host Carissa Culiner and husband Shanon Culiner welcomed their second child, a daughter, on Tuesday, April 28 at 11:01 a.m. in Los Angeles.

Carissa and Shanon named their bundle of joy Zoey Grace Culiner. Too cute!

Carissa tells E! exclusively, “Delivery went extremely smoothly. I even got to do the Kourtney Kardashian thing and partly pull her out of me. It was the most amazing experience! We’re back home now, and mom and Zoey are doing great. Chase is loving being a big brother so far. He thinks Zoey is just the cutest thing!”

Carissa shared some exclusive first photos (which were edited with the help of Andrea Larison with Children At Play Photography) of baby Zoey Grace and we must say she’s beyond adorable!

During the Oct. 22 episode of Daily Pop, Carissa confirmed that she was pregnant with baby no. 2. Unsurprisingly, at the time, Carissa was “very excited” by her pregnancy news as they “wanted another baby.” It was during this episode that the E! personality confirmed she was due in April 2020.

Later in 2019, Carissa was joined by her family on the daytime chat show, where they learned they were expecting a little girl.

“I am so happy!” Carissa gushed in excitement. “I wanted a girl, I just thought it was going to be a boy.”

The TV personality and her husband are also parents to their son Chase, whom they welcomed back in November 2017.

“Chase arrived last night at 9:48p – 9lbs 13oz, 23 inches and a full head of hair!” Carissa previously shared in an exclusive statement to E! News. “Both of us are doing great!”

Looks like Chase is officially a big brother now.

Study: Parents Respect Teachers More, Think They Deserve More Pay

Just in time for National Teacher Appreciation Month which starts tomorrow, a new study finds that parents have a newfound respect for teachers and more believe teachers should be paid more.

As parents take on new roles as educators, a new report found that brand new homeschooling American parents have changing attitudes towards teachers.

In the survey of 2,000 of parents who are newly educating their children at home due to the COVID-19 outbreak , 80 percent indicated they have have newfound respect for teachers; 77% believe that teachers should be paid more; 69% believe being a teacher is harder than their current job; and 53% will take a greater interest in their child’s education after the stay-at-home mandate concludes. (VIDEO)

“We’re happy to hear so many parents saying they appreciate teachers more, and have greater respect for them,” says Jan Richards, Head of Education at educational STEAM brand Osmo, which conducted the study.

While many parents aim to balance study with play in their child’s daily regimen, the majority (68%) worry they are running out of ideas to keep their children occupied, 75% worry their child will fall behind on educational milestones, and 75% feel overwhelmed trying to balance their child’s education with their own work.

Top subjects parents want kids to continue learning during this time include math, science, history, phonics, reading, music, physical education, and art. 80% would pay to have their child utilize an educational program while at home; and 36% admit to using games on tablets/mobile devices to keep kids educated and engaged.

“The data validates the significant opportunities for STEAM companies like Osmo to keep delivering more learning content,” says Osmo CEO Pramod Sharma, whose products are used in over 30,000 U.S. classrooms and 2.5 million homes. “We’re actively working on creating more offerings.”

Osmo recently released a free, unlimited use Projector App for educators to broadcast their physical desk to students, and will soon release additional technology.

UPDATED for 2022

Last year, I blogged about a new trend of college reveal photo shoots and video reveals like this one

and this one

and this one

And now that we are in the era of COVID, the over-the-top party celebration with friends of the past will not be possible this year! Or will it?!

Here is a curated list of unique, creative and some common ways to share with your family and friends online where your kid plans to attend college in the Fall:

College Collage

The simplest and my fave is the ubiquitous collage of college logos around a photo of your senior. If your Class of 2020 graduate has already made her or his decision, you could indicate so in the photo or with the kid in the center photo wearing a jersey or t-shirt from the selected institution.

Escape Quarantine and Shout It In the Streets

This idea simply involves a little photo shoot outside in front of the home, outdoors with your senior in his/her chosen school gear.

The “At Home” Signing Day

This idea is great for future college athletes. Have the parents or siblings pose behind the student at a desk or table ready to sign on the dotted line as is done during sports signing days.

FROM TOT TO COLLEGE

I love this school’s idea of creating a timeline collage featuring a photo of the graduate as a toddler or preschooler and his senior photo along with a copy of the college announcement. Very creative. You can create something similar using Canva. or Picmonkey for FREE in minutes!

K.I.S.S. (Keepin It Simple, Silly)

Post a simple piece of swag from the school.

Major announcement

Incorporate some elements of the major in the announcement the way this future USC  Animation Student did with her announcement

Cool Runnings

Similar to the simple memorabilia, if your teen already has a tee or sweatshirt from the school, hang it from a hanger on a door and post just the item of clothing

FOOD

You cannot go wrong with cake pops or cupcakes. Print out small versions of each school’s logo, attach to a Popsicle stick or toothpick and voila!

Cupcakes are always popular

OR CAPS

OR CAKE POPS

A Bed Party

Yes, Bed Parties are a thing but would require a bit of shopping for random items that come in the same color of the school and a trip to the party supply or dollar store for Mylar Balloons and streamers.

Post a photo of the future college kid in a bed of collegiate merch from the school of choice. Photo from Skiks which that site makes and sells such gear

10 Mother’s Day Gift Ideas You Can Get Even During Qurantine

Mother’s Day is coming up, believe it or not. I know it’s probably something that may escape the minds of family members given the global stay home orders and how our days and weeks are blending into each other.

If you have a first-time, veteran or mom-to-be in your life and you are  racking your brains looking for ideas and suggestions on what to get  her, here are 10 mainly free or relatively inexpensive ideas you can pull off without leaving the house!

  1. Do-nothing day—plenty of moms would love to spend a day not having to lift a finger or spend the day doing just what they want to do. So give your mom a card that tells her she is entitled to a day off—and be sure to honor it!
  2. At Home Spa day—since she can not go to the spa, bring the spa to her. Check out my recent posts with several at-home pantry, fridge and kitchen cabinet ingredients spa recipes.
  3. A clean car—Mom’s car can get downright disgusting after shuttling kids around all the time. So grab the kids and have them help you wash the car.
  4. Customized necklace—May isn’t a good month to buy jewelry because stores often hike prices in anticipation of Mother’s Day. However, you can find affordable necklaces with charms that can be engraved with children’s names online at Etsy.com.
  5. Photo mug—plenty of companies create mugs with photos on them for about $11 online from a popular chain store like CVS online. This gift is ideal for grandmothers who appreciate a creative way to show off pictures of the grand kids.
  6. Plants and flowers for the yard—rather than a bouquet, buy a potted plant, flowering bush or tree that will last for years. Or let Mom buy plants for the garden and then plant them for her.
  7. Photo album—most of our photos are now digital and we rarely print them out. So get some photo paper from Target, Walmart or Amazon and print out your pictures at home, put them in an album and let mom enjoy looking at them the old-fashioned way.
  8. A clean house—give Mom a break from her daily chores and do them for her (the way she would want them done). Wash the dishes, do the laundry, sweep the floors and make the beds.
  9. Frame the kids’ art—Moms will surely get a few pieces of handcrafted art from the kids for Mother’s Day. Make it easy for her to display and store them with a frame that lets you do both!
  10. Make a donation in Mom’s name—for the Mom that already has everything, make a donation in her name to her favorite charity or motherhood-related organization.
  11. Bonus idea—Take the time to sit down with your mom and ask her to share family stories that you can record or write down in a journal that can be shared with other family members.

Now that dads cannot rely on the kids to make her a handmade card at school, it’s time for them to get on it and start planning! Hopefully, these 10 tips will help!

Shahs of Sunset’ Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi Welcomes First Child

Shahs of Sunset GG

Shahs of Sunset GG

Bravo TV‘s Shahs of Sunset star Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi  welcomed her first child, a baby boy!

The entrepreneur and reality TV star announced the news on her Instagram page. “WELCOME TO THE WORLD ELIJAH!!! ❤4/27/20❤” she captioned a post delivery photo of herself giving her newborn skin-to-skin kangaroo love.

“Very happy to report that last night Golnesa Gharachedaghi gave birth to Elijah Javad Gharachedaghi,” her rep told Entertainment Tonight. “The baby arrived last night in Los Angeles at 8:50 p.m., 6.5 pounds, 19.5 inches.”

The rep added: “Everyone is doing great and Golnesa is beyond excited to be a mom and start this new adventure.”

The feisty petite 38-year old was very open about welcoming her first child via in vitro fertlization and a sperm donor. She has stated in that past that though having a baby solo is frowned up on in her Persian culture, she had wanted a baby all her life and was not going to let old traditions get in the way of her dream.

On the Bravo show Watch What Happens Live, the Wüsah owner and cannabis entrepreneur told host Andy Cohen that while she’s had a “great support system” of family and friends, she endure a tough road to pregnancy.

“The biggest struggle I’ve had in general has just been having rheumatoid arthritis and dealing with the pregnancy,” she opened up to Cohen, also sharing that her doctors intended to induce her two weeks before her due date so she could go back to her intense treatment for that autoimmune disease.

According to PEOPLE magazine, “Gharachedaghi used a sperm donor and completed a round of in vitro fertilization (IVF) in August, but nearly lost her life after her first successful embryo transfer in the spring led to an ectopic pregnancy that required emergency surgery and the removal of both fallopian tubes.”

“This is what I wanted my entire life,” Gharachedaghi, 37, told People. “When little girls were talking about their perfect husband and their perfect weddings, I was talking about the 10 kids I was going to have.”

She plans to skip the husband and raise her child on her own. She’s the third cast member to be pregnant following Mercedes “MJ” Javid last Spring and Asa Soltan in July 2017.

She’s totally cool about raising her baby on her own.

“I’m OK right now focusing on me and my baby,” she said. “We’re in a day and age that women are so much more independent, and we’re not necessarily relying on men in order to move forward in life. I can start a family and have my child without being in a relationship right now.”

She added that if she is lucky to meet someone, “That’s great” but she is not interested in getting married in the future or necessarily being with a “forever life partner.”

“My forever will be my child,” she said.

Gharachedaghi got hitched to her on again, off again boyfriend Shalom Yeroushalmi in 2017 but the marriage lasted 7 weeks and they divorced.

The Shahs of Sunset season finale airs Friday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.

Pediatricians Worry Parents Aren’t Bringing In Kids for Vaccinations

As parents and pediatricians try to figure out how to keep kids healthy during a pandemic, immunization may be one of the victims of the coronavirus.

More than 117 million children in 37 countries may miss out on receiving the measles vaccine because of the “challenging period” created by the outbreak, the Measles & Rubella Initiative said in a statement this month.

Pediatricians in the U.S. are reporting a drop in immunizations, too.

During the week of April 12, the number of MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) shots given to kids dropped by 40% compared to the week of Feb. 16 when COVID-19 was not yet widespread, according to PCC, a Vermont company that develops medical record software for pediatricians.

Those figures don’t measure how many kids are overdue for their first dose of MMR, “the real red alert number,” said Chip Hart, director of PCC’s consulting wing. Children should get two shots of the vaccine.

Skipping the measles vaccine is of particular concern because the highly contagious disease has made a comeback in recent years.
