It has been 10 years since I last posted the annual Bellyitch Most Expensive Strollers post. It was a yearly blog post staple and used to get tons of traffic because, honestly, I think people, generally, are obsessed with knowing what baby items are used and coveted by the super wealthy and celebrities.
Since the last post, a few stroller companies have gone out of business. RIP to Orbit, Maclaren and newer brands 4Moms and iCandy, which were once considered “it” strollers in their day but no longer manufacture luxury strollers.
In 2013, I published the list as part of the Bellyitch 100, a book of the top crib makers, maternity wear designers, stroller makers and baby clothes brands.
Anyway, so I used to publish the Most Expensive Strollers list at a time when I was raising a young family and brands would boast that they were on the list.
My social circle at the time included professional working women, stay-at-home moms, and mom bloggers, several who were affluent and looked at the stroller as a status symbol.
Here is another secret about what happens among moms at the park, at the school pick up lot, in the mall and other social places where mommies congregate. They check out what strollers they’re pushing a baby or child in and make judgments.
Yes, there is a definite hierarchy in quality of strollers and believe me when I tell you that certainly check out what stroller another mom’s child is being pushed in and make judgments.
When I was raising my children as a young lawyer, I went through 6 strollers, which is a low number considering many of my friends at the tiem had way more.
Our first stroller was a Peg Perego which converts from a baby carriage or pram to a push stroller. At the time, it was among the best. Then, when my first born turned into a toddler, we ordered theInglesina Swiftumbrella stroller from the Italian stroller manufacturer. It had a great run!
To pair with the Inglesina, a sturdy Italian brand, we got a lower cost Combi umbrella stroller for travel, a stroller we could beat up which was so much less that so that we wouldn’t mind if it got lost by the airline or damaged during travel.
Then, when I was expecting baby #2, I got as an amazing shower gift from my co-workers at my old job: a Peg Prerego Aria doublestroller!
By the time baby number 3 rolled around, the Inglesina had hit the dirt, we left the Combi on some island we visited for vacation once and we had loaned out the Peg Perego Buggy to relatives who didn’t take good care of it.
The wheels on the double gave out and we opted to give to Goodwill rather than try to fix it or get the company to repair it.
B.O.B.
We opted for a lesss expensive Graco Snug Ride for Baby #3 and aB.OB. jogging stroller (the air-filled jogger stroller with hand activated rear wheel brakes that can ride smooth on any terrain) when I was ready to get back in shape.
Now, while we didn’t get any of them to make a statement, I have had many moms and dads comment on the pricier high end ones while walking in the parks, malls etc. People are always looking for a status symbol and there is a preconception that most expensive means the best!
It’s no wonder, you can see celebrities strolling their children in many of those on this list. The celebrities know that too. That is why Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony sued Silver Cross from publishing on their website an unauthorized endorsement which featured a People magazine photo of them pushing their twins in two Silver Cross prams.
People flock to buy whatever celebrities purchase and that stroller companies know that endorsement mean lots for their bottom line.
Anyhoo, on to the list. Of course, as a disclaimer, this list is not exhaustive. As usual, this list is based on my own personal research and I urge readers to point out other vehicles that should grace this list. Certainly, I would amend the post to reflect corrections.
In the meantime, check out this year’s list of “it” strollers pushed by the most Poshest of moms and celebs out there (I’m updating this list with a few more after the initial post so come back and ping me on Twitter if you don’t see one you think should be on this list)

Although this is a celebrity pregnancy blog, the fact of the matter is a lot of couples do not last the pregnancy. As blogged before, Kelis, Amber Rose, Christina Milian, Heidi Klum, January Jones, Melanie Brown, Denise Richards and Shar Jackson and several other high profile women’s relationship and marriages fell apart before baby could arrive.
It’s a bitter pill to swallow but many times, the separation is best for all parties involved including baby. In the case of divorce, or in other scenarios, the child usually binds the couple together for life.
Communication becomes a touchy subject, and to help exes navigate this area, matrimonial lawyer Jacqueline Newman has penned a new book called “The New Rules of Divorce“, available now from Simon & Schuster, matrimonial attorney Jacqueline Newman recently shared her 10 practical tips for communicating with an ex during this tumultuous period.
1. Try to limit the topics to no more than three issues in an email. I find people do not tend to read or retain more than three points at a time.
2. Number the points and separate each point by a space. If you number the points, you increase the odds of all three questions being answered, and spacing makes it seem less overwhelming than a huge ranting paragraph.
3. Try to phrase your questions so answers of yes or no are possible. If you can get back a simple yes or no, you increase the odds of your questions being answered.
4. Keep the three points short. If it takes someone more than one thumb swipe on their phone to read the whole email, the odds drop that your full email will be read.
5. Try to use email for issues that do not need an immediate response. Use the phone for emergencies and figure email should have a window of twenty-four to seventy-two hours for response.
6. Try to use neutral words because you need to assume that the written word will be taken in the worst tone possible.
7. Don’t cc other people on the emails and suck them into your drama. That gives the response a bigger audience and will cause more reaction. (You can just forward it to your sister to read after you send it instead.)
8. Try to write your emails at times of the day when you know he/she will read them. If you know your ex has a manager’s meeting every Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., do not write your emails during that time.
9. Do not write an explosive email while he is spending parenting time with the kids.
10. Try to end all emails on a positive note—even if you don’t mean it.
If you’ve followed this blog for the past 10 years, you know I enjoy spotting on Red Carpets the celebrity women who’ve been spotlighted here before when they were expecting a baby.
Last night, on August 26, the MTV Video Music Awards were held in New Jersey for the first time at the Prudential Center.
One of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums, Cardi B won for Best Hip Hop video for her song “Money” (she was nominated for Artist of the Year too but lost to Ariana Grande). She was also nominated for Best Pop video for “Please Me” with Bruno Mars and Best Dance and Best Power Anthem for “Taki Taki” and “Wish Wish,” respectively.
One other featured mama from the past Alicia Keys was nominated for the Best R&B video for the video for her song “Raise a Man” but lost to former Fifth Harmony girl band member Normani.
The show caters to younger audiences so I have to admit I’ve had to watch the nominees right before publshing this post. Shame. lol In any event, congrats to the winners and shout out to the moms who looked fab on the red carpet including:
Adriana Lima in Sally LaPointe with Chopard jewelry and Christian Louboutin heels.
I was cheering on a lot of the celeb moms I’ve featured on this blog during tonight’s airing of the Golden Globes Awards!
Congrats to Regina King for her win for her supporting actress role in the filmIf Beale Street Could Talk. The 227, Boyz In the Hood and American Crime alum used her time giving her acceptance speech to advocate for the Time’s Up x2 movement and challenged herself to make her projects fully gender equal in the future.
“In the next two years, and it’s going to be hard, I’m making a vow that every thing I produce…[will be] 50% women,” King said. “And I challenge everyone out there who is in a position of power, in all industries, I challenge you to challenge yourself and stand with us in solidarity and do the same.”
Bravo! I love this woman! <3
Also, in keeping with my red carpet coverage tradition, I must add that I noticed a few Red Carpet trends worn on some of the celeb moms and others …

Nickelodeon‘s Teen Choice Awards went this weekend at The Forum on March 24, 2018 in Inglewood, California. The event isn’t just for teens but some of the stars they admire including adults.
Our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums who are among our fave celeb moms Kristen Bell, Heidi Klum and Tiffani Thiessen also walked the red carpet. Bell and Klum presented awards, and Klum and our other alum Mel B, both America’s Got Talent judges, got slimed.
Frequent featureGal Gadot won for Choice Film Actress.
Mel B posed on the carpet with her children, daughters 19-year oldPheonix Chi Gulzar, 10-year old Angel Iris Murphy Brown and 6-year old Madison Brown Belafonte, with ex-husband Stephen Belafonte‘s daughter Giselle. Melanie Brown wore a silver catsuit! Grrrrr!

Klum wore a dress by Redemption, Christian Louboutin shoes, and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry on the red carpet. While presenting, Heidi wore a Vatinika top, Rosacha pants, Giuseppe Zanotti heels, andLorraine Schwartz jewelry.
I’ve missed a few red carpet coverage because…life but I was quite excited about what I saw this week at the American Music Awards, held at the Microsoft Theater on November 19, 2017 in Los Angeles, California….A lot of pink and black, but not together!
Speaking of P!nk, she and our other Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Kelly Clarksonperformed together.
Not a mom but a blog fave, Tracee Ellis Ross killed it as host and the tribute to her mom Diana Ross who took home the Lifetime Achievement Award was all that and a bag of chips! (Do the kids still use that phrase?)
In the mix was her daughter in law Ashlee Simpson Ross, whose husband is Evan Ross, the baby boy of the Ross family. their daughter Jagger Snow stole the show! Ashlee wore a Christian Siriano dress, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, and Neil Lane jewelry.
She was part of the sequins in black trim along with Clarkson who also went bold and brave in a velour and gold gown hugging her gorgeous hour glass figure. I’m loving her sleek blunt parted ombre hair too.
Kelly Rowland too did black with floral in a interesting long split Galia Lahav dress with sheer sleeves, fresh off witnessingSerena Williams‘ nuptials in New Orleans last Thursday. Her good friend Ciara went a bit S&M in an asymmetric black leather coat dress by Alexandre Vauthier haute couture and thigh high boots with wet look hair. Nicole Kidman played in safe in Black as well but looked stunning as usual in an Olivier Theyskens dress, Giuseppe Zanotti boots, a Versace bag, Fred Leighton jewels, and an Omega watch
Opting for the lighter part of the spectrum was Heidi Klum in a pink and gold slip dress with a deep v plunging neckline which is in a vintage Gianni Versace from Morphew, accented with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes.
Mom-to-be country singer Jessie James Decker did a shade of pink too in a bump hugging off-the-shoulder dress, a shade of pink. Speaking of P!nk, she too went with the color of her name in a hot pink and tulle Monique Lhullier dressand her signature pink hair. Jenna Dewan-Tatum in gold and looked hot as usual in a beautiful Julien MacDonald gown, John Hardy jewels, and Giuseppe Zanotti strappy sandals.
Congrats to our alums Shakira for winning Favorite Latin artist and Carrie Underwood for winning Favorite Female Country Artist.
One of the first celebrities we ever bump watched, Christina Aquilera brought the house down in a tribute to the 25th anniversary of the Kevin Costner, Whitney Houston film, The Bodyguard singing “I Will Always Love You”, “I Have Nothing” and “Run to You” and “I’m Every Woman”. She killed it in my book! Did all the songs justice and Whitney with her voice, range and power! Wow!
The 69th Prime Time Emmy Awards went down yesterday at the Microsoft Theatre on September 17, 2017 in Los Angeles, California.
Several of our fave celeb moms we’ve featured on the blog before and whose red carpet style we’ve admired showed out again.
Several were nominated like Padma Lakshmi‘s show Top Chef, Anna Chlumsky for her role in Veep, Thandie Newton for Westworld, Regina King for American Crime, Heidi Klum forProject Runway, Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara for Modern Family.
Other Bump watch alums and pasta features Jessica Biel, Neve Campbell, Jane Krakowski, Felicity Huffman and Keri Russell also looked stunning on the carpet .
Congrats to Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman (in Calvin Klein by Appointment) for their short series Little Big Lies and to Kidman for a top actress win in her category.
Here are the trends we spotted:
All Black everything on Jane Krakowski, Neve Campbell, Leslie Jones in Christian Siriano, and Julie Bowen in Alberta Ferretti.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Carolina Herrera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Armani Prive,Gabrielle Union in Zuhair Murad and Emmy Rossum in Zac Posen.

Third-time mom-to-be Actress Jessica Alba was the guest judge for Season 16’s Project Runway finale fashion show, an event that takes place each year to culminate the season and features the designs of the final four-six designers of that cycle of the long-running hit TV fashion design competition.
This year, the Honest Company CEO sat in the front row in an off the shoulder bump hugging ankle length dress while judging the designs. She later walked the finale runway with the show’s permanent judges designer Zac Posen and journalist Nina Garcia with host Heidi Klum.
The presentation took place at The Shows at Gallery 1, Skylight Clarkson Square on September 8, 2017 in New York City. Since only 4 episodes of this season have aired, we are not supposed to know which designers made it to the finale to show their designs at NYFW but if you’re a loyal watcher of The Lifetime Channelprogram, you may have guessed the designer form their style aesthetic already revealed on episodes aired so far.
This year, is the first time the show has used models of all size. After introducing the designs, Klum exclaimed to the audience about being inclusive that “Fashion is for everyone!”
TV One‘s R&B Divas: Atlantaalum Keke Wyatt is 8 months pregnant and recently shared on Instagram that her husband of 7 years, Michael Ford, wants a divorce. The singer, who has a phenomenal voice (I heard her in person) revealed the news in a tearful video re-posted on gossip site, Shaderoom.
“You want to know something, America? When you 8 months pregnant and you got a child sick, in and out of the hospital, and your husband got the nerve to tell you that he wants a divorce,” she says in the video. “Because… he says that you’re an emotional wreck. He says that from the very beginning you never trusted me and all that kind of stuff. Telling other people, other women that we getting a divorce and if she calls…like, what?! I’m so done with Michael Jamar. Y’all can have him and roast his ass. I don’t care.”
A post shared by The Shade Room (@theshaderoom) on
Afterwards, Twitter certainly roasted Michael Jamar (Ford), per a run down of the dragging by VH1.com.
Recently, Wyatt revealed that one of her children is battling cancer and she shaved all of her hair off in support of that child, Essencereports.
The couple had also recently babymooned in Hawaii in advance of the arrival of their fourth child together. Wyatt has three children from a previous marriage to her ex husband and road manager, Rahmat Morton. Ford has a child from a previous relationship and Wyatt suffered a still born at the end of her marriage with Morton.
She is pregnant for the 8th time though (including her still born baby) but if you count her step child, she is mom 9 x over!
