10 Behavorial Traits and Personality Quirks of First Born Children

A while ago,  a scientific research study found that first born children are usually smarter than their younger siblings. As a first born child myself, that news tickled me pink being a first born myself. I am a big believer in birth order playing a role in the development and personality of a child.

Genes definitely play a role, but researchers suggest that born-leaders are a real thing – and their success is not based on their teachers or peers but on their birth order.

First-borns

Per Vaalweekblad:

First-born children are 30 per cent more likely to become leaders such as CEOs or politicians. This is according to economists at the University of Texas-Austin and at Sweden’s Institute for Evaluation of Labour Market and Education Policy.

They found that first-borns are on average more emotionally stable, persistent, socially outgoing, willing to assume responsibility, and able to take initiative than later-borns.

Researchers say having more children means parents spend less time with each child which means the later ones generally have lower IQs. Parents also invest more time creating rules and being strict with the first child. As a result unique qualities develop that make them great leaders, such as intelligence, discipline and people management.

Well-known first-borns include Beyoncé, Emma Watson, Hillary Clinton, Richard Branson, J. K. Rowling, Kate Middleton, Oprah Winfrey and Winston Churchill.

These are 10 facts from our friends at Nanny.net about the effect of birth order on the eldest children, some of which may shed new light on behavioral quirks and personality traits of your firstborn.

  1. They’re More Reliable – First born children are often expected to look after younger siblings and take on a greater role of responsibility than children born into the family after them, and as a result they often grow into more reliable and dependable adults.
  2. They Tend to Be Higher Achievers – Almost half of all United States presidents have, to date, been first born in their families. In contrast, only four have been last born children. High achievers tend to be eldest children, who place a higher value on achievement and success than their younger siblings.
  3. They’re Natural Leaders – When a child is born first, she’s generally something of an authority figure over her younger siblings. That dominance often becomes a hardwired personality trait, which leaves them more likely to find themselves in positions of leadership in the adult world.
  4. They’re More Likely to be Perfectionists – Unlike younger siblings, who tend to have a more relaxed approach to life, first born children are more likely to be perfectionists, often setting almost impossibly high goals for themselves.

  5. They’re Not as Likely to Rebel – Alfred Adler, the father of the birth order psychology movement, asserted that older children often feel “dethroned” by new babies in the household and, as such, may be more likely to actively seek the approval of their parents and the other adults in their lives. In many cases, this drive to please continues throughout adulthood and they’re less likely to be rebellious as teenagers.
  6. They Benefit from Teaching Younger Siblings – When firstborns teach their younger siblings new skills or information, they’re benefiting from what’s known as “the tutor effect.” That’s one of the reasons why firstborn kids tend to be higher academic achievers and to pursue intellectual careers as adults.
  7. They Care More About What People Think of Them – Free-spirited people who aren’t concerned with what society as a whole or even the people closest to them think about their choices tend to be younger siblings, as firstborns generally have a very real drive to be people pleasers.
  8. They Value Organization and Order – Firstborns are more likely to be list-makers, organizers and to bring order to their surroundings than their more haphazard, disorganized counterparts who are lower in birth order.

Photo by Aa Dil from Pexels

  9. They’re Self-Motivated – Because of their desire to please and determination to succeed, older kids tend to be more self-motivated than their younger siblings and to require less encouragement to work towards the goals they’ve set for themselves.
  10. They’re Individuals – There are more studies on the subject of birth order than one could shake a stick at, but one thing that holds true across the board is that there’s more at play than simple birth order when it comes to determining a child’s personality. Genetics, for instance, will have some role in the habits and methods of a person’s behavior, as will environment and other important factors. Knowing a bit about the typical firstborn pattern is helpful, but be careful not to box your child in with expectations that may not hold true in her particular case.

Ciara Performs in Video for Pro Black Song ‘Rooted’ Days Before Giving Birth

Ciara debuted the video for her latest singe “Rooted” featuring Ester Dean last Thursday at midnight and in it, she appears very pregnant right before giving birth to her third child.

The visuals are stunning and feature dancers donning natural ethnic hairstyles like bantu knots, afros, braids and cornrows and messages of solidarity to the the late John Lewis who recently passed away, the Black Lives Matter movement and Black women and men who died in police encounters in recent and distant past.

The singer, who just gave birth to her third child, but second with husband RussellWilson, said she made the music video days before the baby’s arrival.

That is amazing because if you watch the video linked below, you will she was showing all of her very energetic dance moves and even did a twerk or two!

It is a powerful song and comes on the heels of the release of Beyonce‘s pro-Africa “Black is King” visual album that debuted on Disney Plus earlier in the month. I can dig it.

Her son, Winn Harrison, is featured in mom’sbelly but as are his older siblings, 6-year old Future and 3-year old Sienna who make cameos by mom who is donning a extra large afro, and grills with the word “Melanin” on them.

She is the latest celebrity mom to appear in a music video.

Katy Perry famously revealed her first pregnancy in the video for her song “Never Worn White” in March.  An as we  routinely report over the years as the institutional source of bump watch news on the Internet, Carrie Underwood, Cardi B, Natalie Portman, Beyonce, P!nk, Deborah Cox, and Whitney Houston all were in music videos while expecting.

Fun! Watch!

A Trademark Pirate Is Squatting on Kylie Jenner’s Stormi Couture Name

Getty

It is not uncommon for celebrities to file for trademarks associated with their children, but as what happened with Beyonce who has had trouble claiming Blue Ivy, Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Kylie Jenner is facing a similar hurdle trying to capture the copyright of her daughter, Stormi.

Page Six reports that a company called Business Moves Consulting successfully trademarked the words “Stormi Couture” about a month after the birth of Jenner’s first child with ex Travis Scott in 2018.

It recently filed a challenge to Jenner’s application for that same term asserting that the dual trademark would likely confuse its own customers. The company also claimed that it doubted that Jenner actually had plans to use the mark and comply with the United States Patent and Trademark office’s requirement that the mark  have a “bona fide intent” to be used “in commerce for identified goods or services.”

Jenner has also filed for marks “Kylie Body” and “Kylie Body by Kylie Jenner” on Valentine’s Day. She already owns trademarks on “Kybow,” “Kyliner,” “Glitter Eyes,” “Kylie Baby,” “Lip Kit,” “Kylie Museum,” “Kylie Kon” among others.

The same company was also on the other side of a celebrity child name dispute when DJ Khaled sued it in 2018, claiming that it was selling clothing using his son Asahd’s name.

A Mississippi Brand strategist named Curtis Bordenave is the face behind the company and has successfully trademarked the words Sirius, Z100 and the call letters for a bunch of other radio stations. He trademarked but eventually lost his initial application and claim to Cardi B, Asahd, and the words Radio Station, Call Letters, Mansplain and Alternative Facts.

According to a Clarion Ledger article about him, the married father of four travels to hair shows and teaches people how to manage their intellectual property.

The Expensive Ways Celebrities Prepare For a New Baby

kim K in a yellow truck

For most people, the glamorous life is a fantasy and something some aspire to attain. It’s why we love celebrities and high profile people.

It’s why shows like Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous and more recently, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and half of the Bravo TV line up do so well.

If we were to be totally engaged with that lifestyle, here is one of the ways we would make our 2020 amazing.

Get Extravagant PUSH presents like Sports Cars

One of the best ways that you can make your 2020 more glamorous if you are a celebrity is to invest your money in a new sports car. Travis Scott famously gifted his ex Kylie Jenner a $1.4M Ferrari after she welcomed the couple’s first child together, Stormi Webster.

Take Luxury Babymoons

Us peons may take a Babymoon to Miami to get away before baby arrives.

Celebrities have access to more luxurious locales. Ciara who is expecting her third child, but second with her husband Russell Wilson announced the news while chilling on a rock in Turks and Caicos.

They just whip out their list of some of the most glamorous destinations that you can visit and close their eyes and pick!

ciara babymoon in turks and caicos

Start a Maternity Fashion Line

When we get pregnant and can find something chic to wear, we hold on to our non maternity clothes for as long as we can before having to break out the overalls and succumb to the belly. Celebrity women just call up a few sponsors and brands and start an entire fashion line. Several famous women like Heidi Klum, Victoria Beckham and Jessica launched maternity fashion lines while expecting.

If we wanted to emulate that sort of extravagance we would have to do stuff like hit the vintage shops or sell our old clothes on sites like Depop

Buy New Homes for Baby

When baby makes three, the average new family convert the old study into a nursery or clean out the spare room. Stars purchase a larger home to accommodate the nanny and extra staff that will be on board to help them navigate parenthood.

To prepare for the arrival of their first child together, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis upgraded their home and purchased a $10M 3 bedroom, 4 bath Beverly Hills home to accommodate their growing family, according to US Weekly. They aren’t the only ones.

Purchase the Most Expensive Crib

Finally, while the rest of us are scouring sale ads and stalking Groupon for deals on strollers and car seats, celebs like Beyonce splurge on high price top of the line products like purchasing a $3,500 lucite crib for her first child Blue Ivy.

And not just cribs, these high paid figures can afford to get the most expensive car seat, designer new born clothing and more. It’s part of the perk of being wealthy.

In the meantime, we gawk and point and admire from our computer screens.

Beyonce on Taking a Motherhood-Driven Mental Health Year

Beyonce
gets raw and candid in an “Ask Me Anything” interview with members of her fandom Beyhive inside the January 2020 edition of Elle US, in a cover shoot directed by famed Queen & Slim director Melina Matsoukas (Insecure on HBO, Formation & We Found Love music videos among others)

Mrs. Carter talks about the nonstop bump watch speculation.

“Are you pregnant?’” is that question she says she hates hearing the most, adding, “Get off my ovaries!”

The songstress and director candidly spoke about having a difficult pregnancy with her twins, Rumi and Sir.

The troubled pregnancy led to a year long break from the music industry.

“After having a difficult pregnancy, I took a year to focus on my health,” the 22-time Grammy award winning singer-songstress and voice over actress opened up.

“I have researched information on homeopathic medicines,” adding, “I don’t just put any prescription in my body. My diet is important, and I use tools like acupuncture, meditation, visualization, and breathing exercises,”

The mom of three spoke about the importance of self-care in a society where, she says, women are expected to “tough it up”, ignore the symptoms and take care of everyone else before themselves.

The Queen Bey also  spoke about how motherhood has changed her and  opened up about experiencing miscarriages, how parenthood has changed her perspective on life and the importance of introspection, self-care and purpose.

She also spoke on the importance of self-care in a society where, she says, women are expected to “tough it up”, ignore the symptoms and take care of everyone else before themselves.

The Lion King star also talked about coming to love her curves, after experiencing fluctuating weight post baby making.

“If someone told me 15 years ago that my body would go through so many changes and fluctuations, and that I would feel more womanly and secure with my curves, I would not have believed them. But children and maturity have taught me to value myself beyond my physical appearance and really understand that I am more than enough no matter what stage I’m at in life.”

Good for you, mama!

“This new [Ivy Park] line is fun and lends itself to creativity, the ultimate power,” @beyonce told ELLE. “I focused on designing a unisex collection of footwear and apparel because I saw so many men in Ivy Park. The way they have embraced the brand is an unexpected gift. I appreciate the beauty of gender-neutral clothing and breaking the so-called fashion rules. I took a chance on myself when I bought my company back. We all have the confidence in us to take chances and bet on ourselves.” Link in bio for the full January 2020 cover story. #BeyoncexELLE ⁣ ⁣ ELLE January 2020: ⁣ Editor-in-Chief: @ninagarcia ⁣ Cover star: @beyonce⁣ Photographer: @msmelina ⁣ Stylist: #KarenLangley ⁣ Makeup: @sirjohn ⁣ Hair: @nealfarinah @nakiarachon ⁣ Production: Ben Bonnet @westyproductions

Bumps, Crimson and Noir at 2019 CFDA Awards

It was all about fashion and flare this year at the 2019  Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards held on Monday, June 3, at the Brooklyn Museum in New York.

Third-time mom-to-be’s Jenna Bush Hager wore a crimson cape dress to the CFDA Fashion Awards that concealed her bump. She said the outfit got mixed reviews but her two daughters loved it. ††

Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Jennifer Lopez showed off her rock hard six pack in an orange custom Ralph Lauren crop top layered with 43,200 crystals and matching floor length skirt on the red carpet and on stage when she received her fashion icon award.

CFDA Chairwoman, Diane von Furstenberg said JLo was a no brainer when it came to picking her for the award.

“Jennifer Lopez uses clothes as a way to express confidence and power,” the designer said. “Both designers and fans look forward to her fashion statements.”

Steven Kolb, President and CEO of the CFDA, added, “Jennifer Lopez’s style is bold, uninhibited, and always memorable. Designers, including many of our CFDA Members, love to dress her for both stage and private moments.”

Lopez joins past recipient that include: Rihanna, Beyoncé, Naomi Campbell, Pharrell Williams, and Johnny Depp.

Also, Lily Aldridge, another bumpwatch alum looked sizzling hot in a classic and elegant crimson red gown by Brandon Maxwell.

Oh and one more! Teyana Taylor in Thom Browne.

Finally, not a mom but my country mate, I am loving former CNN anchor Isha Sesay in a short fro in a look by Christopher John Rogers.

‘Shah’s of Sunset’ MJ Javid Silences Her ‘Fake Pregnancy’ Trolls

Several celebs have been trolled by people on the internet who are convinced they are not really pregnant but faking it while a surrogate really carries their child. Beyonce, Danielle Jonas, Meghan Markle and Kenya Moore have had to dodge fake pregnancy rumors during and after delivery.

Bravo TV star of Shahs of Sunset Mercedes “MJ” Javid is the latest.

The 46-year old is pregnant with her first child, a son, after undergoing in vitro fertilization.

The real estate biz owner has been on bedrest for the most part of her later stages of pregnancy following a few complications but despite giving fans glimpses of her baby bump on her Instagram page, she is still routinely harassed by many to show a mirror selfie of it while standing up.

The maternity shoot which is featured exclusively in PEOPLE magazine today should do the trick to get them off her back, according to a recent post.

“Thank you @people for such beautiful coverage of our baby journey thus far,” she captioned a photo from the shoot which featured multiple images of her in lingerie, and with her belly bare and clearly visible. “As I continue to share my experience with families with whom I share this life goal, I hope my experience provides support, hope and positive thinking for others.”

She continued: “Today, I am grateful to my husband and family for the incredible support I’ve received in getting us this far. I know we have so much more ahead. I am blessed to work with incredible photographer, @shannonlaurine and my glam squad, @brandonliberati and @makeupbymarine all of which together we celebrate the female form during this incredible God given opportunity ? #bumpalert

She addressed the body shaming and fake pregnancy accusations in the magazine.

“A lot of people on social [media] have already come at me for faking my pregnancy,” she says, saying for example, “My face doesn’t look pregnant, my nose doesn’t look swollen, my bump isn’t big enough, I am using a surrogate, I am making this up for attention.”

But she’s staying strong.

“I don’t mind the shaming, I just think it’s very odd that so many people would think a woman would make a choice to lie about something so important,” she explained. “I think if I get mom shamed, I’m not going to care … if anyone wants to mom shame or bully someone in general, they should bully me because I won’t be affected.”

You’d think that would be the end of it. Nope!

The photo garnered a lot of attention but did not stop folks in the comment section a.k.a. the peanut gallery from criticizing the photo edits, and some still said it wasn’t her real belly.

So..she felt the need to follow up with a non-glam bump photo for the haters.

“And a no filter, no make up, no suntan, at home baby bump selfie, to shut down all the haters who have a problem with a woman getting out of bed after 3 and a half months of bed rest to get a little hair and make up for her maternity photos. ?” she captioned a selfie photo in sweats at home.

She previously addressed the hounding on an Instagram Live, ask me anything session with fans.

” My due date is on May 11 and people are saying ‘Why aren’t I showing, why I aren’t I showing?’ I think that it’s a combination of two things: the first thing is that people don’t always show when they’re only 19 weeks, which is where I’m at. Number two: I’m not stick thin,” she said. “I think that from the side I’m definitely thicker and that I’m getting there, but I don’t think that people always show that early.”

You cannot please people so it’s better off not trying. I don’t know how celebs do it being constantly judged and picked apart.

Wait until that baby comes. She can see how folks are tearing into new moms like Chrissy Teigen, Kenya Moore, Gabrielle Union and now Porsha Williams to get a taste at the levels of unsolicited advice and shaming in store.

Oy! Good luck, MJ!

Celebs Accused of Faking Their Pregnancy: Kenya Moore, Kim K, Beyonce, Danielle Jonas

Real Housewives of Atlanta alum, Kenya Moore Daly continues to be dogged with and by rumors that she is faking her pregnancy and it seems no matter how many bare bump photos or pics of her cast mates cradling her belly she posts, there are always people in her comments expressing disbelief that the 47-year old former Miss USA is really expecting her first child.

Even recently, when she posted a cute Instagram photo of her hubby restauranteur Marc Daly feeling her baby kicks, she still had haters decrying the authenticity of the moment. Ugh!

She was all smiles in the photo captioned, “#marcdaly wasn’t ready for #babydaly’s kicks today ?❤️#babybump#babykicks #ThatsMrsDalyToYou.”

It is amazing to me. She is not the only one. Beyonce and Danielle Jonas both were trolled all Pregnancy and beyond when they each had their first kid.

Kim Kardashian was too and was  BravoTV‘s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills former cast member  Adrienne Maloof but way after the fact.

One season of the hit series focused on a rumor that Maloof had used a surrogate to birth her children so as not to “ruin” her body, but lied about actually being pregnant and going through labor and delivery to save face and not come off as being a superficial and vain person.

Meanwhile, who aren’t accused of faking their pregnancy?

Celeb women who barely look pregnant even at 5-months along like Remy Ma or who undergo an entire 40 weeks pregnant undetected and just crop up with a set of twins like Anna Kournikiva did!

It is quite interesting to me who gets the suspect treatment and who escapes it.
